Dev Response - Mission Customization
Not sure if this question is in the right place, but it is about mission adjusting and changes in I-5.
Alot of Tanks will be unable to play as Tanks in I-5, especially if, like most CoH players, they don't read the forum boards. They will be probably be Tanks with a few extra attacks and no ability to hold a large mob's aggro... and live. Tanking missions like the Skyraider Terra Volta Trial or the Citadel TF and others will not be possible. Will those missions scale down or be scaled down?

I thank Mr XX for saying this i didnt used to post/browse these wonderous pages of info revealing basically what i usually wound up finding out lvling with close to capped debt. I think there needs to b a more obvious place for info besides these forums even tho that is the point of them there needs to b some kind of check the forums at Cityofheroes.com sort of message whenever a new patch goes live or a notifaction after posting a bug/report even tho Thanks For reporting this bug! message is nice there should b something more like Please check CoH.com to see more on this issue <credit to Mr XX>

[/ QUOTE ] citadel tf is possible just by not herding also in the newest patch on test server they redisigned the missions to dont have multiple mobs at the same room
NPC Allies:
Having just gone through the Katie Hannon TF, where the tendency of NPC allies to get stuck caused us quite a bit of trouble, I'd like to make a request. I'd like to be able to use Recall Friend on NPC allies. Actually, I'd like for them to register as team members for purposes of buffs and powers (like pets do), but it's mainly for Recall Friend. It would be really nice to be able to 'port them out of whatever bit of geometry they manage to get stuck in.
I can see game-mechanic reasons why this might not be allowed for hostage escorts in general, but it makes perfect sense for allies.
Off-topic: Folks, there's a topic for discussing tanker concerns. Your tanker questions and proposals might be better-received there.
The Way of the Corruptor (Arc ID 49834): Hey villains! Do something for yourself for a change--like twisting the elements to your will. All that's standing in your way are a few secret societies...and Champions of the four elements.
I've tried to test out the new Croatoa material several times. But I just can't get past the "Rescue Wayland McCrane" mission.
Like HolyEvilAoD, every time I rescue the hostage, the lag spike comes. I think it is the waves spawning, but I couldn't be sure because I've never stayed connected through it. Yes, I'm on a modem.
I don't mind the IDEA behind this type of mission. But an implementation that excludes modem users goes against the stated system requirements. Which means if it goes live like this, wave missions will REDUCE the amount of content I can access. This is BAD! Completely unacceptable. If the computer crashing missions were limited to the new content, at least I could still enjoy the game I bought, but this is removing pieces of it.
And it's not just a solo thing. I have a character that I solo with. Can't get through the mission. I COULD get a team together to do the mission, but that really wouldn't help because I'd still get hit with the lag spike and be unable to finish the mission. Even if the rest of the team did manage to get Wayland past the waves of Tuatha, I still wouldn't have been able to appreciate it.
You must either fix the lag spike or limit these missions to Croatoa.
Please do the former. I would like to have a chance to complete this new content type.

Side notes:
It's really inconvenient to /bug this because you get booted. There's probably more people that have this problem then bug reports would indicate.
Despite recent hopes, I will not be getting broadband any time soon. The phone company says that it is impossible to get us DSL.
Also, the mission itself has one major problem: Animated stone. It's stupid. And boring. It can't hurt me. And I can't hurt it. So it's just a waste of my time. Please have it despawn when its caster dies. However, you included a timed despawn, so it's not that bad. But if a scrapper can't defeat it before the timer runs out, you really have to consider what that says about it.
The Outbreak mission worked fine for me. I'll cast my vote for having the Flower Knight not spawn at the end of the mission, but that's not as big a deal to me as being able to complete a "soloable" mission.
Gandhi 2 - Inf - lvl 50 AR/Dev Bla, Gazebo - Virt - lvl 50 Ice/SS Tank, Ms. Summers - Champ - lvl 50 MA/Inv Scr, Rachel Rosen - Lib - lvl 50 Ice/Emp Ctrl
Kiaransalee - Virt - lvl 50 Nec/Pois Mmd, Tierna - Vic - lvl 50 SS/Stone Bru
(and many <50s)
Ok, I posted asking this on the Test forum, but got a big blank (no responses).
Has anyone who has team teleport or group fly tested in "escort" or "ally" type missions to see if either of these powers work on the NPCs? I don't have a character I can test it with, or I would.
I think that would be very nifty if it did. I have at least one character where team tp would be fitting concept wise. I would dearly love it to have a cool, non-standard usage such as this.
Anyone know? Or can test it? Please?
Okay - Just experienced the stop 30 fir bolg mission in Croatoa. I hated it. I was using a lvl 27 ff/psy defender who had only 4 attacks. It simply is not possible for this character to stop waves of 5-6. When I finally failed the mission I heaved a huge sigh of relief - "glad that's over" but then to my utter dismay and complete horror I have to repeat the dam n mission again! This is just wrong. Even with the excellent guide in the forums, there is simply no way my character can complete this mission. Why must I be tortured with bad mission design repeatedly? I guess I'll have to go to Peregrine and spam for a lvl 50 to come clear the mission for me. hooboy that will be fun....
First of all i wanna say good job on the new mission types.
My only complaint is that i just finished a hostage escort missions and fought tons of enemies but none of them seemed to attack the hostage. Are they supposed to go for the hostage or not? If not, why does he have a health bar. Maybe i just got lucky or something.
I also did the "save the three enhanced rikti monkey" mission or something like that and thought it was the best mission i've ever played. I was wondering if there were any more missions like this where you have multiple npc's fighting with you at once instead of just one. Does anyone know if there are any missions with large groups of 8+ allies fighting with you?
Anyways, keep up the good work devs
I think these changes are great!
Although I should add that the Croatoa mission to "Stop 30" from exiting the standing stones is a very difficult mission. Its difficulty level seems set too high. I attempted that mission four times until a level 50 controller helped me complete the mission (and even then 29 bad guys escaped).

I had a team of 8 for that one. Two ice trollers (with ice slick), three blasters, one tank, one scrapper, and one empathy defender.
It tooks us three or four tries, but we figured out a plan of action and we got it done. everyone was around level 30 (some less but we had enough SKs) with level 30-31 mobs.
I so swear no one reads these. But here I am struggling against the futility of the mighty OZ head.
OK, you asked for feedback.
THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!!!
This is a new mission type, and people want to turn it OFF? I say just isolate mission types by contacts. Instead of saying "so and so works with clay and is vegen" or some unintelligible stuff that we have to sit there and scratch our heads and wonder "does she sell enhancements that my character can use?", have them be described as "in charge of missing persons" or "leading strike teams" or whatever works to get the idea across that they will send you on "hostage missions" or "escort missions" or "hold ground" missions.
I LOVE NEW MISSION TYPES AND CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING
That said, many people aren't, they're praising or saying "great, but one little tweak". And I agree, I think clearing a five level mission just to have to run back to the entrance is a bit much. How about to the elevator, is that good enough?
And you Kheldians, shut up about quantums. You already pretty much make us blasters useless, and tankers optional with the SAME CHARACTER. So stow it, no one cries for you.
In short, I absolutely love the new mission types. But here's a clue. We spent 7 hours in game waiting for someone to come and witness a bug in a mission and no one ever came. The next day we got a message saying "yeah, we already knew about that bug."
7 Hours. Need I remind you that we're paying you? If you really read this feedback, then you've got to know that there are tons of players out here who would willingly give up their free time to help the game get better for everyone, ultimately increasing profits for your company, which will allow you to buy Lexusi (that's the plural of Lexus), and date supermodels, so how's about putting the gas to the floor on the tech support side for these new missions that you KNOW are going to break, eh?
BTW, that was related because it was a new hostage mission. I wouldn't waste your time with a "kill all" story.
Also, it's pretty damned useless to have the rescued hostage at the end of the mission, unless we're escorting him. I concur.

I dont know if this falls under mission customization, but it would be nice if there was an option to abandon a story arch. I have had this happen with numerous chars, and I will switch contacts as I go up in levels only to realize later that I never finished a story arch and I cannot get any new ones until I have completed an old one. this is usually after I am 5+ lvls above the villians in the missons. It would be nice to be able to just abandon the old one to get a new one, instead of having to run through x missions for 0 experience to just complete the arch..
Oh and I couldnt find a place to put this, how about increasing the amount of influence that can be transfered.

I agree with this completely. Also, I would make it so that further story arcs are not blocked just because a contact offered a mission to you that would commence the arc--despite the fact that you don't take the mission. This is very annoying and counterintuitive.
I recently had to do a 20s level story arc with my 40s level PB because after one or two missions a contact in Talos had offered the initial mission in her story arc to me (the Scroll of Teliekku (sp?) arc). This locked me into her arc even though I did not accept her mission. If I decline the mission I should not still be locked into the arc.
I had previously gone back to all of my 30s level contacts and thought that I was all clear, but could still only get one arc. Finally I started working my way back through every contact in every zone until I found the one who was still offering me missions. I couldn't call her because I had only done enough missions to barely move her contact bar. That is a completely unnecessary restriction. I consciously chose not to do her missions (I don't recall why, but probably because I was trying to do Striga missions which I had not done before)--yet I still got locked into a story arc without realizing it (there were no clues under my Clues tab).
