Live RP Event on Pinnacle Server
I've never asked for special help from the Devs before, and as I told them "no" is an acceptable answer. However I invested a pile of time and energy in this story arc---and it's just about my birthday---so I asked for a little aid with special effects. The charming and delightful CuppaJo responded. So please come! I hope it's going to be awesome!
The story arcs involved are "Phoenyx Rising, " "A Fine And Private Place," "Hope Is The Thing With Feathers," and "There's No Place Like Home" and "Finding A Host." all on the CCCP website www.cccpgroup.us and most cowritten by yours truly.
The short form is that Seraphic Flame is indeed an angel and has fallen in love with John Murock, and in order to save his life will sacrifice her angelic nature. For more detail please read the prose, there is a nasty catch to the bargain.

If you want the spectators to be "furniture", you may not want to have it at Atlas, the biggest hang out in the city and where many new characters will start.
Very, very neat!
This should be very fun to watch, I am looking forward to it!!!

Interesting, I'll try to be there to watch. Hopefully the kiddies won't jump in and ruin it...
Well I will have to make an alt on that server to see the action.
You've probably thought of this already, but I would also suggest recording demos (and collecting them from any audience members who want to record them as well) to host on your website for people who are unable to attend.
I'd also suggest getting there early, to the people who want to attend...zones can only fit a finite number of people.
I will offer the services of the Taxibots to help out with transport issues. I cannot guarantee how many of us will be there though as we just found out about this.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
Awww, thanks to the Taxibots!
This is one reason why we decided to have Act One in Galaxy---even a lvl 2 is safe there, and you can actually climb/jump to the top of the Arena as a lvl 2. John and Flame met there....it seems only fitting that the endgame be there too. We'll try and do some RP to fill people in sketchily on backstory before we fire off the FX.

I'll send along my non-Taxibot-but-still-teleportation specialist Transit as well.
Wait a tick.. the real Mercedes Lackey plays this game?
Gods, where does that woman find the time to play MMO's?
Beat me to it!
I was going to say you should speak to the Taxibots and enlist their aid, as they're as upright as you can get.

Yeah! Who knew!?!
BTW, the bit I caught of the RP event was VERY cool. Kudos for pulling this off!!!
If anyone got a demo of the first act I would love to see it!

Yes. I caught most of Acts I and II. It was neat.
BTW, all hail the Taxibots! I tried to jump to the top of the arena in Galaxy but just couldn't figure out how to do it. Broadcast for help and got Teleported to the top in seconds.
(err... that would be because my alternate self on Pinnacle is only level 7. Same character. No travel powers right now. Heh. ^_^)
Can't wait to see the write-up!

Well, I can't speak for Mercedes But I've written a little bit of amateur fiction myself, and I can tell you that sometimes a fair amount of the writing process is doing other things while your brain processes the story. Either that or you do things or watch/read stuff that inspire you.
So, say the editor calls and you're playing City of Heroes. Depending on how you want to spin it, you could say, "I AM working on the story right now... Getting some great ideas here while brainstorming... Whoops! Call you back as soon as I take down this giant wooden Tiki god thing! Later!"
Should take a look at the CCCP web page , we are just full to the brim of good fiction brought on by the game.
And Misty's not just been writing, she's been inspiring people in the SG to write, write more and write better. I feel very lucky for having met her and had the chance to RP with her. She's a hoot. </gush>

Thoroughly enjoyed the RP event last night, both Acts I & II. The end bit that opened up to everyone was extremely cool, and it was great to see so many of the "spectators" immediately jump in. Extremely cool... hats off to the masterminds of this.

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.
This sounded awesome. Shame I missed it. Is a script / story posted anywhere?
Gratz on the 50 BTW

It was a cool event and I got enlisted to play stage hand. So the Taxibots not only helped get the audience in place, but helped the actors vanish 'offstage'. Apologies if I spoiled some of the magic there.

It still looked darn cool.
And when people can use the mechanics at hand to make an RP event of this scale have "good FX" it's a darn good thing

And a fat shout out to CuppaJo for appearing as the Archangel Michael...who Red Saviour still believes is some deluded mage in angelic looking armor. After all, religion is the opiate of the masses.
I enjoyed being the "point of view" person who asks all the stupid questions the audience wants to ask.
Good job to Seraphic Flame/Bella, John Murdock/Blaze Phoenyx, Home World, Red Djinni, and everyone who was kind enough to be quiet and watch the event unfold!

You're fishing!
Well, I'm game. Happy Birthday, Misty!
Thanks to all who showed up and witnessed the end of a great storyline by the CCCP (www.cccpgroup.us) and affiliates in the RP Congress (www.rpcongress.com). The back story is up on the CCCP sites under "Phoenyx Rising", "Finding a Host" and "A Fine and Private Place". If you care to join us, we're a large group who RP's all the time. You can reach us at the RP congress web site listed above ((heh, shameless plug i know, but we're approached all the time by people who say "what? there's roleplaying on Pinnacle? how come no one told me!))

Death of John Murdock
Evenin, folks. Recently I joined a great SG of role-players/story tellers, located on CoHs Pinnacle server; the CCCP (http://www.cccpgroup.us/ ). Through this super group, Ive developed a character persona known as John Murdock, along with a story arc based on his interaction with other characters in both the CCCP and the Role-Playing Congress (http://www.4-thirty-5.com/rpc/).
My original ideas concerning how I would retire JM once he reached security level 50 quickly fell to the wayside after I began truly developing him. At this point, he is dying from excessive use of his powers. Faced with his imminent demise, JM chose to instead merge with a Kheldian, in order to continue his existence.
Now, instead of working out the endgame in prose, Ive decided to allow it to play out as a live RP event. There will be several main and secondary characters, performing live and scripted RP. Since this is going to a live event, RPers all welcome to attend as an audience . A lot of folks have invested substantial amounts of time and effort in this, so we dont really want any interruptions.
Time: 9pm eastern---8pm central, Wednesday, June 22
Place: Event will start atop of the Galaxy City Arena, with the second act taking place at the base of the steps in front of Atlas statue.
Etiquette: Spectators are asked to remain on the outskirts of the action, and to keep respectfully quiet. This means, dont land right in the middle of things. Dont pipe in with witty comment. You are going to be furniture for this performance, folks. Live with it.
Cast:
John Murdock played by er, Me
Seraphic Flame played by Mercedes Lackey
Home World played by Stephan Zajac
Belladonna Aura played by Mercedes Lackey
Archangel Michael played by CuppaJo
Blaze Phoenyx played by eh, Me, again
There it is, folks. Please, send any questions or comments you have to thoreauswaitingroom@gmail.com. Hope to see some of the community there. Later, yall.
Thanks to all of the members of the CCCP and the RP Congress, whove proven to be a wonderful group of folks.
A special thanks goes to Mercedes Lackey, Adrian Drake, Dennis Lee, Steve Libbey, and Stephan Zajac; great writers, without whom I couldnt have taken this project as far as I have. And thanks to developer extraordinaire CuppaJo, for taking the time to lend a hand.
Like I said, any questions, comments, critique, etc, can be directed towards my e-mail or through here. Thanks, all.
