If this is what you are typing in, the problem is that you are using bind instead of bind_load_file.

Ah ha! Now, since this was my first attempt at any bind, how do I unto my mistake so I can redo the bind properly?

Feee, this will sound weird, but try moving Teleport out of slot 1. I was seeing some weird things happening with whatever I had in slot 1 a couple days ago. Once I cleared out that slot and put a different power there, it cleared up.

Wow thats weird...since if you copy and pasted everything exactly, it should work fine. Doublecheck there isn't some weird charecters tagged on the end or somthing.
Since that bind command you were trying to use isn't valid anyway, you don't have to do anything to correct it It didn't change anything in the first place.
Ah hah, didn't realize that the first part of the post and the second part of my post were directed at the same person. Heh, I wasn't awake yet when I posted that

LOL See, this is what I love about this game. The players are great and help each other - even us newbies who have only been around 5 weeks.
Thanks!

Awesome post feeee, but I did EXACTLY as said and doesn't work, this is what I get:
Usage:Bind_load_file takes 1 args, you gave 2,
Reads a list of keybinds from a file.
Bind_load_file <string>
now... When I saved the two files, Does the C:\ address need to be in there or do I remove that and just leave th command?

Is there a space somewhere in your pathname? If so, use quotes:
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>/bind_load_file "c:\coh binds\tp_off.txt"</pre><hr /> or (preferably) put you bind file(s) in a location with no spaces in the path, such as c:\cohbinds\

Turns out, I had the file names on the first line of each file. When I removed them, it worked like a charm. I'm porting around like mad now. :-)
Thanks everyone,

I had the same problem feeee. I found that if I zoned with the shift button down, then let up before I finished zoning, it didn't realize I had let up and reversed the binds (if that makes sense). I fixed it by reloading teleport_off.txt and making sure I either didn't telezone (zone while porting) or if I do, I hold the shift key down the whole time I'm zoning.
Ok, now that I have the TP self bind file down and mapped to bind "shift+lbutton" "powerexec_name teleport", I need to make a bind for Recall Friend while making an announcement. This is what I have:
I would like to bind Recall Friend to the "t" key but want to add a phrase. I assume that the bind would be:
/bind t "team $target, What I want to say goes here.$$powexec_name Recall Friend"
My question is this: I assume that I click on my target, hit the "t" and the targeting cursor appears, and I click on the destination. Is that right?
Hmmmm. Is it possible to use:
/bind Alt+lbutton "team $target, What I want to say goes here.$$powexec_name Recall Friend"
That way, it all works with 1 click and one key rather than manually targeting.
Thanks!

Yes, a modifier key + lbutton works with any location targeted power to make it into a single click.
I'm wondering about the "+down" and "-down" prefixes on a lot of these binds; I don't see them listed in the master keybind list, I assume it refers to "while this key is pressed down/released do X", but where are these documented, and which is which?

+down is a command which makes you go down, much like +forward makes you go forward and +left makes you strafe left. -down makes you stop going down. Combine the two into +down$$-down, and you get a command which does nothing.
"Huh? Why would you want that?" you might ask.
Having a + at the beginning of a bind results in the bind being activated twice, once when you press the key down, and once when you release it. This allows you to do neat things that you couldn't do otherwise.
Of course, using +down$$-down is now obsolete, because Innovator found an easier, possibly less confusing way of getting that + at the beginning of a bind. The new method is to start the bind with "+ $$" (that's a plus sign, then a space, then two dollar signs). The game doesn't complain about the + being attached to a command that can't use a +, and you get the key down/key up action.
That would make the first shift bind look like this:
[ QUOTE ]
shift "+ $$vis_scale 1.0$$shadowvol 0$$ss 0$$camdist 12$$window_show chat$$window_show target$$window_show tray$$bind_load_file c:\cohkeybinds\letharga\teleport_off.txt"

Great bind!! Thank you VERY much for sharing it!
This is my first toon to use Teleport as a travel power - I hated it with a passion, until this bind.
I just loaded this bind last night and it worked great. do I have to load this bind everytime I log into this character?
You shouldn't have to. If you do, then it's a game bug.
Thx!
It doesn't happen everytime, but 30% of the time the bind doesn't work when I log in. So, I just run your little program again and everything works fine again. No big deal, just an FYI.
Is there a good way to use a path name with spaces?
I don't want to dump my CoH binds anywhere but in my CoH directory (or a sub-directory). My pathname is:
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\
I'm used to getting around the first part by calling it C:\Progra~1, but I'm not sure how "City of Heroes" would get truncated. Cityof~1? City o~1? I should know not to let the installer put a default name on a directory. . . oh well.

This goes way back to like, DOS naming conventions sort of. Anything over 8 characters is truncated to the first 6 characters minus any spaces, and then a tilda (~), and then a number.
Hence,
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\
becomes
C:\PROGRA~1\CITYOF~1\
In other words, what you said.
However, I am not sure if this works in CoH. I remember way back when I tried this (first half of 2005), I was forced for some reason to actually put these special TP binds into a separate directory without any spaces in the complete path.
In many applications, putting double quotes around the path -- like this: "c:\program files\city of heroes\some key bind.txt" -- works correctly. In other applications, using the aforementioned truncation format is the only way to specify the path.
Good luck; please do post your results!

No problem. Any help is appreciated. The bind works but I've obviously done something wrong. Here is the actual error:
Usage:bind takes 2 args, you gave 1.
Binds a key to a command - 'bind k ++forward' will set k to toggle runningforward.
bind <string> <string>
bind: c:\cohkeybinds\letharga\teleport_on.txt
