A figure in a black and red cloak walked through lobby of Paragon's airport. He silently approached a locker. He pulled a manilla enveloped from it's back. As he left, he dumped a small metalic object from the package into his hand and placed it on a part of his head hidden by the hood of his cloak.

"Agent Designate: Jack in Diamond. I know this mission will be unlike those you normally take, but the time we have planned for has come. In the envelope you have in your hands right now is a group of indeviduals who we believe will be receptive to joining our cause. All worlds shall belong to us."

The cloaked figure chuckled to himself. "As you wish, my dark mistress, my Queen the Spade."

((OOC Note: Please have the JiD approach any villian you have even if they turn down his offer.))

((OOC: I was not to sure how we get our villain characters involved. I hope this is ok. If not let me know and I will edit it))

Among the files in the envelope is one detailing an individual simply known as 'Mr Book.' Information on him is thin at best but it lists him as a paranormal and a mind manipulator. It also details the location with in Steel Canyon that he can be found.

Jack in Diamond turned to leave for his first recruit when he saw a man standing behind him, smiling as he rested his hands on his cane.
The man was wearing a black trenchcoat over his black shirt, his outfit complete with black pants and black boots and gloves. His skin was pale, and his hair was a fire red on both his head and his small goatee on his chin. But his eyes... his eyes seemed like a dark void that never ended. His hands were resting on a black cane that had a small statuette of a demon on the tip of it.
"Hello, Jack of Diamonds." The man said, smiling wickedly as he observed the Villain.
"Who are you?" Jack of Diamonds asked.
"You can call me Mr. Dark." Mr. Dark's eyes went to Jack's folder, then back to him. "I'm not interested in your little recruitment. As a matter of fact, it seems I'm in need of a recruitment of my own." Mr. Dark's smile became a sneer. "You see, I'm in need of new Agents of Darkness, and I think you may help me to that end. I'll be keeping track of who you recruit, Jack." His dark eyes glimmered slightly. "You'll hear from me again. I'm sure of it." And with that, Mr. Dark disappeared in a black mist.

Jack in Diamonds answers a knock at his door. He sees a woman wearing a plain white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a shiny new cape. "Hi! Are you Dr. Stadler? I'm Peppermint! Here are the research notes that were stolen from you! I found them in my evil sister's apartment when I arrested her this morning!" She seems to notice his cloak for the first time. "Oh, I guess you're on your way to a costume party! I'd better let you finish getting ready! Good luck with your research! "

Jack in Diamonds looks at the package. The outside reads, "Now that I have stolen this irreplacable research on feline leukemia from Dr. Stadler's office (at the location on the attached map), every cat owner in Paragon City will be at my mercy. Bwahahahaha!"

Inside there is a letter:

"To the Crimson King, Greetings,

"I do apologize for not having time to meet your minion, Queen the Spade, or her lackey, Jack in Diamond. I trust that my idiot sister was able to keep them entertained in my absence. I look forward to meeting you in person someday.

"I'm intrigued by your plan to take control of all of the worlds. Usually I prefer to work alone, but it occurs to me that there are an infinite number of worlds, so we should be able to avoid the usual post-operation conflicts about how the loot is divided up. Please contact me at your convenience. I'm about to start work on a jailbreak contract, which should occupy me for the next 72 hours, but I will be available thereafter.

"Most sincerely yours,

"The Hegemon"

Brother Psych appeared behind Peppermint.
"And her trusty sidekick, Brother Psych is here!" Brother Psych said with a small tone of sarcasticness in his voice.

Jack In Diamonds blinked his red eyes at the duo. "Um, yes, quite. Thank you for delivering this to me. Now, if you don't mind, I am late for meeting someone."

Netherwolf grew impatient waiting for Jack in Diamonds. He had been standing in this cemetary for over an hour. He was just about to leave when he heard someone heading his way. JiD approached...

((Someone can play the role of JiD if you wish...you can write about the recruitment of Netherwolf. I wanted to leave some spots open for other people...))

"Hello, Netherwolf. I appologize for my tardiness. I am sure you have other engagemets, so I won't take up much of your time. I represent a group of indeviduals that are... displeased with the current state of things. As such, they are looking to overthrow those who currently hold power and they need allies." A metal hand holding what looked like a business card reached out from under Jack in Diamond's cloak. "If you wish to know more, be at this warehouse in one week."

The next day, the being simply known as Mr. Book found an envelope had been slid under the door to his living space in Steel Canyon. Inside were a note, a map, and a playing card, the "Jack of Diamonds." The message on the note said, "All that you desire can be yours. Meet at the location indicated on the map."

Mr Book waited at the meeting point indicated on the map. Although he was a hansom looking man (who looked to be in his late 20's) his skin was oddly pale and cold. The area under his eyes was darker.

He was dressed in what seemed to be a cross between modern and renaissance clothes in dark colors. The shirt and trousers were modern but the waist coat and jacket (and some of the rest) were clearly from the renaissance. Some how he had made the strange miss match of styles work.

Although he seemed to be off guard as he leaned on a near by wall with an amused smile on his face he was aware of everything going on around him as he waited.

A cloaked figure enters the area. "What a tacky meeting place," she sighs. "This isn't like the old days. When Doctor Destruction wanted allies for a project, he'd always set up a meeting in his private lair and he'd make sure that it had been thoroughly dusted." She sighs again. "Of course, he was a gentleman."

She turns to the figure beside her. "You must be Dr. Book. I am, um, er, Nomegeh. I'm one of the Hegemon's servants' minions' lackeys' underlings. Of course she's far too busy to attend herself, so I was chosen to fill-in for her."

He took a low bow and politely corrected her. "I am Mr. Book, yes. It is a pleaser to meet a lady as beautiful as yourself." He took her hand a gently kissed the back of it.

He spoke with a posh English accent. His manner showed confidence and politeness. He stood up and smiled at her.

"I can not say I approve of our hosts meeting location as well. Some people do not know the proper way to entertain guests."

((OOC: Getting down to the week before finals here, so I'll have to wait until after I'm done with them before I add to this.))

((OOC: And I'm done with my finals. Please send me a PM on your villain's actual ambitions and previous exploits. It's important to the plot that a particular character knows this.))

A metalic voice came from behind the two villians. "Sometimes it's more important to maintain the secracy and utility of an opperation rather than making it more welcoming."

The two turned and saw the black cloaked figure of Jack in Diamonds. "I suggest we go inside before we are late."

The assassain reached out with a "naked" mechanicle hand and opened the door to the warehouse and disappeared inside.

Marcus Kirke watched from the rooftop as the man in the alley below fell to the ground, a rifle bullet in his head.

Kind of his own fault, Kirke thought. Everyone knew that this area of town was heavily patrolled at this time of day, and the now-dead villain had made a brazen assault on some super group's HQ.

The team of heroes had defeated him, but he had escaped. Teleporting to the alley to lick his wounds. Unfortunatly one of the city's unregistered vigilantes had found him and taken advantage of his weakness to put a hollow point through his skull.

After the vigilante had left, Kirke made his way down the fire escape to examine the body, hoping there might be some salvagable equipment left intact. However, the dead man's powers seemed to be internal.

All Kirke found was a Jack of diamonds playing card and a piece of paper listing a meeting place. Slipping the paper and card into his pocket, Kirke decided to check it out. A villain took advantage of every oppurtunity thrown his or her way.

He arrived at the cemetary well before the meeting time on the paper, taking up a spot where he could see the meeting spot, but hopefully remain undetected.

He planned on keeping this a simple observation mission, but wore his full costume just in case. An old, dull blue overcoat over a similar dull blue hooded sweatshirt. The hood was up covering his head, while a pair of welding goggles and a ventilation style gas mask covered the rest of his face. Underneath the coat and jacket he wore a bullet-proof vest and a simple long-sleeve blue shirt. His loose pants were also blue with black military boots.

The only weapons he had with him were his two Desert Eagles. He wished he could have brought some of the heavier artilary, but his ammo supply was all but gone. The Eagle rounds were the only bullets he still had a healthy supply of.

After 45 minutes of waiting, some people started to appear. Their looks and mannerisms suggested villians, but you could never be sure. They talked amongst themselves for a little before another figure appeared.

This one seemed to be in charge of the little get-together and they all started to head towards a nearby building. Making his way from his hiding place, Kirke hurried to the side of the building, quietly climbing up by a side window.

He remained outside, but kept close to the window's edge so he could hear what was going on inside. He hoped he would remain undetected long enough to find out what was going on. Kirke silently cursed at himself, just now thinking of the possibility that there might be a telepath down there.

Crouching low on the ledge he watched as the others entered, praying that he wasn't making a huge mistake.

((OOC: I was making Mr. Book up as I went a long a bit but I'll come up with something more set tonight at PM it to you ))

Mr. Book stood with his hands behind his back in a very gentlemanly fashion and raised an eyebrow as the clocked figure opened the door with a robotic arm.

"Jack in Diamonds I presume." He said producing the playing card from his pocket and showing it. After Jack in Diamonds entered the door Mr. Book bowed slightly to Nomegeh and indicated to the open door with his arm. "Ladies first."

"My I enquire as to the purpose of tonight's little gathering." He asked Jack in Diamonds as they followed. His voice showed no sign of annoyance and remained very polite and proper.

The voice that responded to his question was not the voice he had expected: sultry and femanine, but with an accent he couldn't quite place. "Think of the meeting scene from the remake of 'Ocean's Eleven' and you'll be on the right track. Would one of you please tell Mr. Kirke that he should stop hiding or he will miss the meeting..."

Kirke swore under his breath. This was not how he wanted this to play out. He thought briefly about trying to slip away quickly. After all, that was one of the advantages to being a villian, you could run away and not feel guilty about it.

Taking a look at the figures below, however, he dismissed the idea. From the looks of them these were serious players and could probably take him out before he could get far enough.

Sighing, he stood from his hiding place and jumped down from the window. Trying to look as confident as he could he returned the stares of some of the others. But he was starting to feel nervous. From the looks of things he was getting out of his league, and that was a sure way to end up dead.

As Mr. Kirke entered the room and took his seat, the door swung open once more.
"Ah, now who could this..." Jack's voice caught in his throat as he saw the figure in the door. Everyone knew the being, though none KNEW the being.
The figure moved, silently, it's speed abnormally fast for something that appeared to hover over mid-air, a black fog surrounding the creature's "feet" (or lack thereof). The creature moved methodically, it's black cloak covering it's entire body, and it's head and face were not visible, as it was hidden behind it's large, black hood. It's arms, only visible where the being's hands came out, showed not the hands of a man, but rather of a skeleton as the creature's right hand grasped a sickle that curved sharply at the top of a long, black rod.
It said not a word, but moved into a corner of the room and just stood, watching, waiting. It had all the time in the world, which might have been why it was so feared. All creatures of this world, try as they might, would never be able to outrun the being that now stood silently in the corner of the meeting room. It would get them, eventually. No matter how fast you ran, no matter where you hid, it would get you.
But why was it here?

((OOC: Retconning the seats and the meeting room since they aren't to it yet. Still at the front entry to the warehouse as I start this.))

((Note: The name "Medb" is pronounced "Mev."))

The apparently dissembodied voice spoke again. "Ah, I see we have almost everyone here, and just in time for the alignment. You may feel a moment of discomfort but no actual harm should be done to you... Unless you are allergic to shellfish."

All present saw bright flash of light and felt their sub-atomic partcles being slightly tugged in every direction. The feeling only lasted a moment and then it was gone like nothing had happened. When their vision cleared they saw the villians saw that they were no longer in the warehouse and in what seemed to be an ultra-high tech facility of some sort. Standing before them was a thin, serious looking woman with dark purple hair wearing an all black suit and shirt. As she spoke, all present noticed that her voice was the same as the disembodied voice they'd heard just moments before.

"I see that all present got the messages I sent, even if you didn't know who sent it or that it was intended for them... Seeing as how I have you all at a disadvantage, knowing who you all are, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Medb MacBeth. I welcome you all to this prototype facility, which I lovingly call the 'Mobile Pocket-Dimensional Fortress: Tower.'"

Kirke wasn't the brightest of men, but he wasn't stupid either. He knew his niche in the villain racket and was careful not to step too far out of it. He may have had inclinations to improve his position, but this was too much, too fast. A step-up this big was dangerous.

"Yeah, it's real pretty. But what exactly are we doing here?" The revalation that the card he had found on the dead guy had actually been meant for him only served to make Kirke more nervous than before. Behind his goggles his eyes darted about the room taking in his surroundings, and he didn't like what he saw.

Normal firearms weren't going to do much good in this situation, but he stood straight and met the woman's gaze head on. After all, a villain should recognize a more powerful opponent, but should never let them know it.

When he had seen their host was a woman Mr. Book was slightly suppressed but took it in his stride. A slightly raised eye brow being the only outward sign of his reaction. Still standing with his hands behind his back like a gentleman he gave a small bow to their hostess. Always important to show a sign of respect he thought to himself, even if it was just to be polite. If their hostess was worth of respect remained to be seen.

"I would like to know the same. The invitation was very cryptic." Mr. Book added.

Medb sighed. "Right down to business, I see. Well, I suppose you should follow me if you wish to the purpose of this meeting."

The four villains walked down a well lit hall as Jack disappeared in a flash of light. They eventually reached the door to a room that looked unlike the sterile metal hall that lead them their. The room had a very cosy and antique feel to it.

((OOC: Tag Palaquinn to describe his character and action as they enter.))

"Nomegeh" nods her head slightly at the scythe-bearing figure, acknowledging him as an equal. She gazes briefly but intently at Medh, Jack, and Mr. Book, trying to gauge their powers. She pointedly ignores Kirke, giving a slight sniff as she pushes past him.

She silently follows Medb down the hallway, content for now to observe the proceedings.

As the cloaked woman brushed past him, Kirke was reminded of the name she gave, and how it had sounded strange to him. Running her name and the name of her supposed boss through his mind a couple times it finally hit him what had bothered him.

"Hmmm, unless I'm spelling it wrong, n-o-m-e-g-e-h... 'Hegemon' spelled backwards," he thought to himself.
