Minions, robots and cyborgs, oh joy trevor thought. He mentaly ruled Hegemon out of his very small list of potiential allies. "Pleased to meet you, I'm Trevor and this is Will."
Then the Tower shuddered as if some one had taken a hammer to it, a very large hammer. He had been here 2 days and this had never happened before. He looked down at Will and with a kind of unspoken comminaction soley through thier eye he decide he should prepare for a fight.
Trevor started to streach his arms. "Great, just perfect. I was looking foward to not doing any heavy lifting today." Trevor muttered.
Will was out of deep thought and was looking back and forth for the sorce of the shake. "Lets just hope it's not the any of the Paragon Protector looking for some revenge." Will said much clear than Trevor and a little louder.

As the shudder rocked the Tower, Disco Inferno's face went whiter than Michael Jackson's (quite a feat for one of African-American descent). "Oh, no. He's here. I thought he wouldn't be able to cross dimensions, but it looks like he got that device from Portal Corps sooner than expected," he thought to himself, "Thankfully I kept my scanner active, just in case."
Disco Inferno decided to tell the others about his enemy's intrusion, "That would be Haywire, the only hero persistant enough to keep after me for over ten years. He, too, is a cyborg, but he is fused to an insane Clockwork who, while hommicidal, is also indiscrimanate, and would rather kill me. Fortunately, his human host has kept him from doing so before, giving me time to escape as they argued. This time, I think they're out for blood, or they'd just wait for me to come out. If any of you would like to help, feel free, but I think I should tell you of his powers, first. He has razor sharp claws and can regenerate most damage in seconds. He can cloak himself, throw shurikens of normal and exploding varieties, generate caltrops and web grenades, and now that he has the dimensional phase device, he can not only enter pocket dimensions connected to the one he is in, but he can move out of synch with this dimension, making him intangible. He will be almost impossible to kill, but I think we could do it as a group. Is anyone with me?" He waited for a response.

Trevor's grim thoughts of the Paragon Protectors wanting revenge disappeared after hearing disco. "He walked right in to a covention center for villians, I think he singed his own death certific. I'm willing to kill him on principle, so you got me and Will to back you up." Trevor thought about it for a moment and then added. "What exactly did you do to the guy that he's been hunting you for 10 years?" Trevor started to just move around, anything that recuired muscle movement.

(OCC Note: He was talking not thinking, just want to make that clear.)

Vance sighed. Just when you thought disco was dead... well, maybe we'll get lucky. "You got a point there... Trevor, was it? I can never remember names. He is kinda asking for it. And hey, I've never tried to toy with someone that had two minds before. It'll be a learning experience."

Trevor looked at the pale man who was going to be helping. "Your right the name is Trevor and this is Will Matchhead Brothers at your service." Trevor felt dirty after saying that, it sounded like a hero introducing himself. He started to dry wash his hands to see if he could scrub the dirt off of him. "Uh didn't quite catch your name, Lance was it."
He noticed that Hegemon was standing behind Disco. 2+2= don't mind me, I'll just [censored] your skills. He resolved to hold back on a few of his tricks if he could, he perfer not to use half of them.

(OOC Notes: I got the name wrong on purpose, I figure you've probly been here as long as my charaacters so they probly bumped into each other.

Also if anyone wants to research the Matchhead Brothers Send me a PM.)

Disco Inferno was glad to hear he wouldn't be facing his psychopathic nemesis alone. He turned to Trevor and responded to his question, "The reason Haywire wants me out is because I know his weakness. Haywire's had it in for the Clockwork King since his career started, probably because the King wanted those parts back and kept sending robots to do so. So, ten years ago, the Cockwork King found out about Haywire's psychiatric condition. Then, he developed a device that would do two things: make Haywire's clockwork side sane and obediant again, and then fix whatever prevented a mind merge in the first place. Doing so would put the robot side in full control of the body which, considering his skills, would put all the other clockwork out of a job. But, he needed something to use the device that wouldn't be destroyed in two seconds, so he hired me. He chose me in response to comedians saying he had no sense of humor. He was giving Haywire an enemy, 'as odd and bizarre as he himself,' he told me. He gave me various cybernetic enhancements that matched my style of fighting, and than he installed his special device. I ambushed Haywire that afternoon with my new powers, but he sliced me up good. He diconnected the device from the control center, and has been able to keep me away from the King, he's the only one who knew how to fix it. Recently, I was scanning my databanks, and found the device's schematics. My fatal mistake was taunting Haywire about it the other day. In fact, I haven't been completely honest with you. Jack, I swiped the info for this thing off of the burnt corpse of a villain named Netherwolf. He mentioned you, but wouldn't give up the info, so I killed him for it. Now I'm here, but it seems not even that could keep Haywire away from me. Fortunately, I don't think he knows about any of you. He'll be inside in a moment, so be ready."

Meanwhile, in dimensional flux....

"We're almost in, Haywire. What've you got on your cross-dimensional scanner?"
"There's one blip, obviously Disco's, but there at least ten other villains inside. What's worse, all of them are amazingly powerful."
"Don't worry, the only thing that could go wrong now is if there's some non-powered villain in there that could surprise us."

(OOC: The signals are: Mr. Book, H. King, Mr. Dark, Medb, Trevor, Will, Hegemon, D. Mason, Kathy, and Vance. Yes, Mr. Kirke, this means exactly what you think it means. He only can detect SUPERvillains. Revel in your superiority through inferiority )

In league with the Clockwork King, how the...Be here soon huh? Trevor finished warming up, it should be sufficent, he hoped. Will did his pre-battle warm-up by losing himself in thought. He had killed heroes before, but thi sound like more of a challange than Untamed Belle and Hremod had been together. He loved challanges. He checked those who would be helping, Lance, Will, Disco, and with the slightest possiblity Hegemon. 4 and maybe 5 on 1, not much of a challange, but he had fought Paragon Protectors before and knew regenorators can be stubborn.

(OOC Note: Will is a natural Villian, no super powers, just a normal human. But no problem with your post if you can't edit it Man'o'char)

"Normally I would say not to worry about him breaking in, seeing as how only those with a predetermined essence in the buffer can enter," stating Jack in Diamonds, as he narrowed his glowing eyes. "However, I am not sure that rapid, repeated attempts to enter would cause the buffers to be tricked into 'thinking' that his essence was on the list..."

((OOC: Ergo, this is how Medb knows that Nomegeh and Hegemon are the same entity.))

Jack glared at the girl. "No, little one. You are coming with me." And with that he grabbed Kathy by the shoulder and lead her down a corridor, away from the meeting room. After a while they came to what seemed to be an elivator door. Upon the portal was stenciled lettering reading "TO THE REVERSE TOWER."

"You will remain beyond this door until Medb comes for you. Pray that you can servive till she arrives."

The door opened showing nothing but an endless darkness that seemed to consume the light all the way to the opening at which they stood. The cyborg assassin uncerimoniously pushed the young woman into the passage, closing the door behind her.

((OOC: OK, Master_Mind, time for some fun for Kathy. Sending you a PM on this.))

"so he wants me to survive?" Kathy laughed.

"Stupid things, getting blood on my new scarf!" Kathy said to noone as she stomped the life force out of some creature.
An extremly ugly one at that.

Seeing Kathy lead away by Jack in Diamonds made Disco Inferno a little unneasy, "Where's he taking her?" he thought to himself. Just then, a sound occurred that reminded him of a grenade hitting a gas station next to an ammunition storage facility. "What in the name of sweet, one-legged pirate ninja zombie ghost vampire Jeebus on a pogo stick was THAT?!" asked Disco Inferno, having just made up the most ridiculous method of asking what something was. "Oh, right. Haywire. Duh," he thought, realizing that shattering a dimensional barrier would probably be loud.

(OOC: Yes, Haywire BROKE Medb's little buffer zone. He's the sort of hero that considers 5 to 1 odds to still be in his favor. Also, this could allow others to let heroes in for their villains, in case they don't like Haywire. Besides, D.I. will be fighting alone. Watch....)

Disco Inferno arrived at the point of entry to find his nemesis waiting. "Hey, 'Wire," said Disco Inferno, with his usual greeting. Before anything else could happen, Haywire grabbed him and turned his dimensional flux device to the first setting. This is the setting that makes him, and anyone he touches at the time of activation, move out of sync with the dimension, yet remain within its boundries as if they were ghosts. Disco Inferno then realized he wouldn't be getting any help, and it was all he could do not to cry. Nevertheless, he turned on his flames, including his flame projector, which spread fire around him to injure others.
"Let's go, Haywire!"
"Alright, it's your funeral!"
Then, they attacked each other.

To Be Continued....

Vance was startled when both Haywire and the Inferno phased out, causing his poker face to slip momentarily, but he had it back up instantly. Shrugging, he pulled up what appeared to be a crate and sat on it.

The fight was... entertaining, but it had no sound and the picture was blurry, so Vance's attention wandered. "Why, oh why does anyone go for this tacky ultramodern smooth plastic design? It's so kitschy," he grumbled of the decor while, mere feet away, Disco Inferno and Haywire tore at each other in a desperate, fuzzy bid for survival.

Vance watched the fight. He drummed his fingers on the crate. He slouched back against the wall, doing horrible things to his already-careworn suit. Rather than sighing boredly, he asked, "So, Trevor. What's your business in our quaint little burg of Paragon?"

Trevor was abit aggrovated that he was missing out on the fight. It's not that he enjoyed fighting, but he hated heroes more. He looked over a Vance and without thought answered. "I live here is the simple answer. Me a Will have lived here all our lives. Recently we had abit of a falling out with our former imployer after a few shocking revelations. But you want to know why were here?" Trevor didn't wait for a response. "Fair enough, I want to see the destruction of heroes. Before you start with any of the crap that I hear everytime I say that. I don't want to do away with law and order I want to uproot the organization as it is now. We have more heroes today than any other time with the exception of the axis attack and I'm starting to hear that we will soon be topping that. Out of all of them how many even care about this city? It's a sad, this city is defended by glory hounds, crooked people, and people who think they have moral athourity. I want to fix it so there is no organization to heroes, no specail treatment for them, that way we only have those who acctualy care about this city and this world defending it." Trevor watched what looked like a particularly painful cut hit Disco. Hope that was cybernetic or it's going to be now. "Hope my rant wasn't too boring, so Lance what brings you to the Tower?"

"So you're not a villain at all, then," Vance said, ignoring the question for a moment. "Guess that's a good point. I mean, who says FC gets to decide what's right and Crey doesn't?"

Vance took a last drag at his cig and flicked it toward and through the fight raging inches away. "As to what brings me here? Nothing so noble or grand, for sure. Money. That's really about it."

Trevor watch as fuzzy flames went right through him. "I wouldn't let Crey decide anything if it was up to me. If it was up to me they wouldn't exist. The Countess is a psycho [censored] and Hopkins is worse than her." Trevor fingered the ribs Hopkins had broken and breifly wondered if Hopkins jaw had mended yet, probly. "I know enough about them to now there the worst of the scum in the underworld, I take Nemsis over them any day. If you saw what they did you agree with me, like what they did to Alice. They..." Trevor trailed off, had he lost his mind? He realised he was so intent on watching the fight that he had been talking on auto fire with out any of thought to concealing what he ment. But right now that didn't matter what did was Will.
He heard Will's knuckles crack as both hands clenched into fists. Crap, crap, crap, what is wrong with me!? He didn't look at Will so not to draw any attention to him. He realised his trailing off was probly attracting as much attention. "Well no reason for me to keep rambling on about all that. So Vance are you a betting man?"

As Disco Inferno was dealt a mean cut by Haywire, in the same place as he dealt it in their first fight (the place that the wires connecting his device were in), he decided to start some conversation.

(OOC: D.I.'s text is red, Haywire's is brown)

"Looks like the others can't hear our fight, mind phasing us in a teensy bit?"
"Fine, whatever"
With that, Haywire grabbed Disco Inferno and phased them in just enough to turn on the sound and clear the reception.

"Still no help for you."
"I know, just wanted them to get a real good look at your demise!"

At that moment, Disco Inferno's flames turned off, and then he unveiled his secret weapon. And from the music generator in his chest, the Beegees sang...
"Oh, you can by the way I use my walk, I'm a ladies' man, no time to talk...."
Then, suddenly, Haywire began to dance!
"My music generator comes with some embedded hypnotic beats that will make you boogie down with me till I let you stop!"
"You've used that move before on me to get away, but this time, I'm prepared!"

Haywire's ears were then covered with metal shields that blocked out the funk. Disco Inferno wasn't out yet, though. He drew his pistol, instead, as his flames reactivated.

"Here's a bit of pain, comin' at 'cha!"

But, as he fired, something unexpected happened. His shot became a blast of flame, knocking Haywire on his back.

"Hmm, seems I can channel my fire through stuff now, what a pleasant surprise."

He then pulled out his activator spray that he uses on his afro, and turned it into a cone of fire. Following this, he took out his gel, also for his afro, and sprayed it at Haywire's feet as it ignited. Not only did it burn him, but he couldn't move.

"This ends NOW!"

Disco Inferno then pulled his most treasured possesion, a gold, jewel-encrusted 'fro comb. As he pulled it out of his hair, it was surrounded by flames, and became a blade of fire. His slice nearly bisected Haywire horizontally. Apparently, it broke the dimensional phase device, as both combatants returned to normal space. Just then, Haywire went invisible and, as far as Disco Inferno could tell, jumped out through the dimensional rift he created upon entering.

"I'll be back for that device another time, then!"
"Whatever, I'll be waiting."

As he turned to face the group, Disco Inferno smiled and asked, "Anyone up for ping-pong?"

(OOC: The moves usable by Disco Inferno: everything from all fire sets, except for the following: rain of fire, aim, build up, burn, smoke, cinders, bonfire, fire imps, fiery embrace, and taunt. he also has that thing with the hypnotic music, but he can't do anything except move while using it. please don't mention any of the moves yet to be used unless you do something like read his mind (but prepare for a very empty book). also, his fire blasts aren't going to be portrayed as good as they are, it's his fire sword that's really good (triple strength). and again, the tower is now wide open for other people's archenemy/ies to enter. Today's music was "Stayin' Alive" by the Beegees.)

((OOC: Quick correction dealing with Haywire's entrance: He did not create a rift, rather, he forcibly put himself into the automated memory of the gate system meaning he's free to come and go as he pleases. However, if he comes in contact with other heroes who are interested in entering tower, he can probably help them come and go as they please by just bombarding Tower iwth a given hero like he did with himself.

Now to deal with the rather neglected group of Medb, Book, and Kirke.))

While the fight was going on at the entrance, Medb collected her thoughts and prayed for no more interuptions.

"Now I believe I was explaining my reason for choosing the two of you to act as lookouts, for lack of a better term. Mr. Book I've already mentioned briefly but I won't be more specific unless he wishes to reveal more about himself. You on the other hand, Mr. Kirke, are the kind of person who is the ideal for your possition. You are cautious and therefore won't foolishly run off to stop an interloper on your own, at least not without calling and confiming backup, which could give us a chance to abort if necissary."

Vance sat on his crate listening, since Trevor seemed to be in a talking mood. He didn't know who any of these people were (excepting, of course, the Countess, but she hardly counted) and didn't much care, but Trevor seemed unusually upset when he caught himself. Will cracking his knuckles explained Trevor's apparent unease quite well, though.

Vance leaned back, relaxed against the table, and said, "Cap'n 'Fro isn't listening, and I ain't interested in screwing you over. So don't get pissy if he's said too much."

Then Vance reached into his suitcoat. He took out his wallet, counted out five twenties, and laid them on the crate. "Robot's my man," he said, watching the fight.

Of course, he lost. Got to stop betting with your hopes, he thought at himself. When D.I. asked about ping pong, Vance shrugged and said, "Eh, sounds entertaining." Then he walked off following the cyborg, leaving his bills laying on the crate.

As Disco Inferno played ping-pong with Vance, he decided to get to know him a little better. "So, what do you think of the other villains around here? I like the Hegemon, she's nice. Trevor and Will seem a little over-zealous, from what they told me in the meeting room. I never got to meet with Kathy, but she seems capable. Mr. Dark, him I don't trust. Something about him's a bit... off. The Horned King seems villainous enough, and is probably good for a conversation. Dark Mason definately seems powerful, but he seems a little superious. I haven't met Mr. Book or Mr. Kirke, but from bits of conversation I picked up, they sound interesting, to say the least. As for you, I don't know that much about you, but you're good at ping-pong, to say the least. It's almost like you can read my mind. So, any thoughts about the others you'd care to share?" he spoke congenially and even eloquently, almost the exact opposite of what would be expected of the medium-rate thug he poses as. "Another point for you," he says, beginning to think his comment about Vance reading his mind wasn't far off the mark.

(OOC: Just wanted to mention how much fun this RP is. It's keeping me from the game, I love it so much)

"As for you, I don't know that much about you, but you're good at ping-pong, to say the least. It's almost like you can read my mind. So, any thoughts about the others you'd care to share?"

[/ QUOTE ]

Vance grinned at the mind-reading comment. He never got tired of giving that impression, even though he couldn't do anything of the sort. His powers stopped cold at mind control and psychic blasts, but people always assumed he could read minds too, and he let them. Doing so had got him almost as far as actually using his powers.

"Well, now you mention it, I *do* have certain... powers of persuasion."

He snorted derisively. "Those tacky comic-book archvillains? Ha. They're about as helpful as antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis. Screw you the first chance they get. Trevor and Will are real zealots, all right, but I wouldn't worry. If need be, we could set 'em on each other in a heartbeat. Kirke's cheap hired muscle and that Book guy can't be after much. Kathy's a psychopath, but dangerous because unhinged, so maybe we should keep an eye on her. Hegemon's a bit of a wild card. I don't trust anyone that, what'sa word, whimsical. Gotta be covering for something. Jack, on the other hand, is nice and straightforward. He's gonna use us to his end, and then get rid of us. Or at any rate, try to. I dunno what I can do to a cyborg, but I'll come up with something."

He stopped suddenly. Everything in the speech had been intentional. Over the years he'd gotten good at manipulating words. Every time he reflexively used an inclusive pronoun, 'we' and 'us', had all been intended to give the impression of his trusting Disco. When he said, specifically, 'they'll try to screw *you*,' he had wanted to make Disco feel threatened by the others, wanted him to wonder if they were plotting his demise every time he saw them. Vance figured Disco for the odd sort of villain who'd respond - and really, splitting all the money two ways didn't seem that bad, so getting out of this with two people wasn't unbearable.

Except, he hadn't intended to tell Disco Inferno, a robot, that he didn't know what he could do to robots. He didn't really have anything against him, but people were strange strange things. It occcurred to Vance that Disco might not actually be a person, but that thought just complicated things so he set it aside.

Vance shook his head. No use crying over spilled milk. "Anyway this Medb character's the one that worries me the most. I don't know a damn thing about him, her, it, and that worries me."

It was Disco's serve, and Vance was slightly curious, so when Vance returned the serve, he pushed ever so lightly to slow down Disco's arm, just to see if it would work...

((tag, man of many characters. up to you if it works or not.))

Trevor waited till Disco and Vance left to collect the money. Trevor had been abit worried when Vance had called Haywire to win. After he picked up the cash and went down the hall towards a room he had found on his first day at the Tower. The whole time Trevors mind was racing, around Will you mentioned Alice's name at you own risk, Twilight Hound was a painful example. But he wouldn't kill me, I mean we defected together and... Will had defected because of Alice, Twilight Hounds face was very clear, on the ground jaw smashed, cluching his side and the gas being dumped on him. Trevor hated heroes, but even he had to admit that it had been to much.
He opened the door to a library and immedatly felt better. Will toke the first seat he could find, he didn't look angry, but when he had killed Twilight Hound he hadn't looked angry just very intent. Stop thinking like that, he is not going to kill you over one slip and besides you can stop him. He knew the last part was a lie, but he felt better. Trevor started to brose through the fictions, he had been disapointed to learn that most of the library was on magic and technolog, but even Medb appeared to enjoy a good book. He found a first edition library copy of 'Eye of the World' very nice, 3 piints to Medb.
"I need to more about Vance before I figure out if he is an ally or an enemy. Hegemon is right out and I need to figure out who Kathy works for. Disco can be trusted, but not pushed and the rest I need to talk to." Will had been bush at work as Trevor started to page through a very old book tying to figure out what it was It might not even be from our dimension. It took a moment to sink in, Will was talking to him, an all clear sign. Trevor immediatly went back to his origanal postion.
"Vance was abit to friendly if you ask me." Trevor said without looking up from the odd book.
"He was also bored, but yes and had to simpy an answer."
"It was just like Disco's and you think he can be trusted."
"Yes, but Disco is a simple man and Vance has atleast one layer."
"So what do we do next?"
"Huuurrrrrmmmmm."Trevor made it through a few pages before Will answered. "I think it's Medb turn."
"Alright then."
"What book is that?"
"It's called 'Shades of the Night'. About this collection of people all shcemeing against one another so far."
