    Joke

Simple, finished the previous mission, girlfriend called, went afk, came back about 1/2 hr later, logged in and the disguise was gone. I guess I had it in my head that it was 1 hr of use not just 1hr. So this was my fault. If I had the disguise and could have explored the area untouched this thread might not even exist.

The problem is that, up to this point, you're entirely used to finding missions by just walking in a more or less direct line towards the mission marker, and if that doesn't work, you look around the immediate vicinity for a bit until you find the entrance. The tunnels, however, begin at points a fair bit away from the direct line to the marker. If you don't know about the marker, chances are, you might just not find the tunnels.

I wasted an hour on this, too. True, once you DO know where the tunnels start, this is not a problem anymore, but it can be really frustrating your first time in Faultline.

To reiterate, rewarding explorers is one thing, but punishing those who are not is a whole different thing altogether. If you like exploring, you can get your explorer badges. In fact, Faultline even has its own super secret room for explorer-types to find. It's just that when you have a normal mission, making exploration suddenly necessary when it wasn't before just isn't quite considerate for those that aren't explorer-types, now is it?

I could not have said this better myself. I have a friend who is the explorer type and we have this debate all the time. I KNOW I'm not the explorer type, but as Nox says here I shouldn't be punished for it.

Also just as a final note, I wish, if there are more missions like this, that they just don't use the map to "help". I went out the door next to Agent G (because there was a little red arrow under it directing me) and although there might be a way into the tunnels on that side of the dam, many of the guys were red and purple to me and I no longer had the disguise. Anyhow, I did it, it's done, time to move on (thank God).

Yes, you are correct, there is text mentioning tunnels. However, it's like "hey there are some tunnels somewhere, good luck with that". I, personally, find that to be crap. Others, I know, disagree. I might have been OK with it, if it weren't for the fact that the "location" of where I needed to go on the map wasn't in direct conflict of where I actually needed to go (causing incredible confusion). As a new player, this is very frustrating. Anyhow, I don't feel like debating, I'm old enough to know how pointless that is, I'm just saying it's kinda crappy when finding the location of a mission takes longer than the mission itself, just my personal opinion.

I'm sorry, the joke is this mission. I'm actually thinking (if I ever get to it) it might be good, but the start is HORRIBLE. I finally found the tunnels thanks to all the help here, but there's almost no way I would have found it on my own, especially with the "help" of the map (which was leading me nowhere near where I needed to go).
I know this is going to offend the hardcore fans of the game, but this is the kind of crap that makes games worthless. I'm new to the game (and really want to like it), have used tons of resources available to me, tried to do things on my own and yet finding the start of this mission was incredibly difficult. That's ridiculous. I would have understood if I had trouble completing the mission because it was challenging, but, 'hey, go find this place and I'm going to do everything I can to lead you in the wrong direction' is pure crap.

I have no clue what you are talking about, unless u r referring to the same location as the last mission (the one where u get the disguise). Which, if that's the case, I might be screwed. Anyhow, on my map, I am directed to take the door to the right of Agent G. I take it, and then it seems I'm directed to go behind (north) of the door I just went through. Of course, this is all "force field" off to me. So I search around the general area looking for tunnel or whatever and encounter red and purple guys. Seriously, I'm not trying to complain here, but, WTF?
If I need to go to the entrance of the last mission I might be in trouble since it has been a little time since I did it and can't remember exactly where it is.

OK, tried and found nothing but red guys, nearly got killed. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here, this is incredibly frustrating. I really have no clue why 99% of the missions in this game, so far, are great and then this.

Trying to find entrance to Clear out first ruin mission in faultline and getting INCREDIBLY frustrated. This is about the third time I'm finding myself trying to find the "needle in a haystack" just to start a mission. I have no clue why gamemakers think this is entertaining. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Are there any requirements to start earning day job badges? I ask because I know I'm going to try some other characters eventually and realized I should probably go ahead and create them now so I can earn towards a day job until I start actually playing them.
  9. Can you have a SG for just your own characters? I guess I'm asking if I need to have two characters logged on at the same time to get one to "invite" the other to the SG? If so, is there any way around this other than purchasing another account?
  10. Wow, no sooner do I post this and find the two guys and raver. They were "hidden" behind some crates. Man sometimes finding "the last one" can be such a pain.
  11. I am currently doing this mission and it says I have 1 raver left to save. I can find no one (much less a raver) left in this instance. The entire map is uncovered. I have tried looking up and around (I once had a mission to kill everyone and found the last guys in the rafters of the building). Anyhow, has anyone done this mission? Is there a "secret door" or something? I hate to waste my auto-complete on this, but I'm running out of patience.
  12. OK, as of I16 you can "customize" spawns you face in missions. So last night I changed my profile to fight enemies at current level, equivalent of 2 heroes, no bosses and no AV. I take my still wimpy lvl 16 scrapper to his first mission with these new settings. I see yellow minions and orange lieutenants. Is this right? I was excited about this change because in the old system (pre-I16), the heroic setting was getting comically easy but tenacious led to too many deaths for me. Help?
  13. I'm a little confused here. I'm still new (my only character is lvl 18 Katana/SR) and curious about the mezz protection for an /SR scrapper. I have Mid's and have tried to spec out my build to 50 and noticed I have a lot of gaps in the Mezz protection (like none for fear). Does this end-up being a big deal? I mean, I realize with SR you'll dodge a lot of attacks but no protection seems problematic.
  14. I have read in a couple of the guides (in the guide on guides post) that you could combine two already slotted enhancements. I have tried to drag and drop and no dice. Is it possible to do this or has it changed?
  15. Is there a way to transfer an enhancement between your own characters? I mean, I'm trying out different guys and finding stuff I need for one guy with another and would like to transfer it, is that possible?
  16. Wow thanks for the quick replies. I read a lot of stuff about defense and saw the 50% to hit base for critters and thought it was the same for players. I guess I should have done my homework (no wonder I kick the crap out of minions my level without using enhancements).
So, just to clarify (I'm not the brightest), Mid's is doing the final "to hit" calculation and just calling it Accuracy?
  17. I downloaded Mid's Hero Planner and it is AWESOME. However, it has created some confusion for me. When I look at say a Scrapper Primary, the "default" accuracy is 70 something. Where does this number come from. I was under the impression you start with no accuracy (or a multiplier of 1) and get a little boost at the start for certain skills (like 5% for Katana). What am I missing?

    Salvage Issues

OK, well, I knew about the vaults and used it to store my uncommon and (1) rare. I have been selling the commons, figured I'd have the best chance of getting those if I needed 'em. I was trying to keep 1 of the each of the commons and selling when I got more than 1, but that's not working out so well. I'll just sell off the ones I can't use. Thanks.

    Salvage Issues

I've played a few MMOs and one thing I like about CoH is that it's different from any others I've played. Of course, this means I've had to make some adjustments and a big one is "loot". I'm pretty good at this point of either using an enhancement or selling it and similarly I use inspirations all the time so I have room for new ones, but I'm having some trouble with salvage. I don't want to sell what I don't use because I might find a recipe and need what I sold and no store sells it. Of course, I don't have room to keep everything. I'm curious how others handle this issue.
  20. OK, my stupid assumption. After reading replies I noticed the mission does say Steel Canyon. I assumed since the contact was in Skyway City the mission was in Skyway City. I guess some of my frustration from the last mission spilled over into this one. My bad. Thanks for the help.
  21. Newbie here and I just got to my contact in Skyway City and he has sent me on a Mission and I'm getting a little frustrated. One thing I like about this game is that it's not like others (so far) in making u run around for the sake of running around. However, I just completed a mission (a nice mission chain that, unfortunately, ended badly IMO) where I had to "cure" 20 Lost and did a lot of searching for a "needle in a haystack". I now have a quest to take out Circle of Thorns in Gimry Ridge or Copper District. After spending some time looking around Skyway City I can't find either (nor can I find any Circle dudes). I tried Paragon Wiki, but no luck. I would appreciate some help.
Sorry to sound like such a winer but this is a pet peeve of mine - I don't mind a challenge, but to me, running around trying to find "something" that could be "anywhere" is not a challenge, it's a waste of time.
  22. Great info everyone, thanks. I guess I missed my story arc contact somehow. I guess I'll have to go to each of my contacts and see if there was a choice I missed.
Something I forgot from my original post was selling enhancements. I read that you should sell most (if not all) TOs since they become obsolete quick. Well, where do u sell them? Although many of the contacts have stores, none of them purchase enhancements (or inspirations).
  23. The link is not working, I'm getting page not found.
  24. I started playing on a 14-day trial account and so far everything is really good with a couple of minor exceptions. First, and this is not a question just a note, the little uncloseable trial version window. I'm fine with it popping up at login and I move it to the corner of the screen, but then it pops back to the middle again everytime I enter a mission or building which is annoying /end rant.
My first question is about the missions. Around level 6 I went to my new contact who basically had a series of missions that were a choice between killing X-number of guys or enter warehouse and destroy/find 3 boxes of X. Is this typical for the rest of the missions in the game? (this is not a big deal, just curious)
Second question is about respecs. One of my contacts (think it was Ms. Liberty) said there are 3 opportunities to respec that are one-time only. So after the third respec I can never respec again?
