The only Tokens I got Via E-mail, were maybe 2 or 3 more, for having the EXTRA Paragon Rewards they gave us when that system switched. That couldn't be the ones they promised, or else on my toons that have all 5 unlocked, I'd have gotten 5, as they promised one, for each costume slot unlocked on said character. I'm PRETTY sure, they don't mail those to you, they just add them, like they did, recently, with the respecs. And those I got. As I saw the number on each character go up by 1 extra respec. I'd like to hear from a GM on this though if one might stop by this forum.
-
Quote:Well, if they did it this way now? Then no, none were given out, either when they gave us the head start, or on Tuesdays patch. I've checked all my chars, no new extra tokens via e-mail, under any of the sections, account or character or normal.I honestly didn't really pay attention to them this time around because most of my characters are sitting on dozens of unused tokens but it's possible that the "free non-Vet" ones are now being given to us via the new email system just like the Paragon Reward ones are. Would make sense for them to use the same system for all of them now. *shrugs*
-
I'm talking about the ones automatically given to players. It was for everyone to have not just me. The ones for me being a vet were already taken, they had said "When Freedom is released, everyone will get a Costume Token added to their characters, per costume slot already unlocked." As they've done in the past. The Vet Reward one, and the ones they hand out are different. In the past when they released a new issue, and announced they'd do this, I'd log into each character to instantly find the number of tokens higher. Example, (If My char had 15 before the issue release, I'd log in after, to find 20, because that character had all 5 unlocked). It was nothing I had to claim.
-
Having read many forum posts during beta, and listening to many-a-Ustream, we were told with Freedoms launch, that we'd be getting a free costume token per character costume unlocked. You know, the fee-waved token you can use when making a costume.
I've noticed on all of my characters, no increase to these tokens. I was wondering, when these are supposed to come out, or when we'll be granted them? -
Well if we're lucky, we'll get a sale on that, the same way Beam Rifles gave us a sale to begin with.
-
Quote:Agreed, but they didn't lower them, they just went on sale.. I wish it was a permanent thing to be honest, if not for me, then for people to get it in the future and save a bit. There was a huge amount of whining and moaning about the cost of those costume slots over the last few weeks. It's really not -that- surprising that they would lower the price on those things this quick. On the other hand I'm sure there are plenty of people who will still consider them to be too expensive even with this reduction.
-
This is just me blowing off a bit of steam is all. The servers are up now, so I'm like "YAY! 212 Megs of info was downloaded, and changed, I wonder whats what!" Well, Nice to see the new costume set, it does look good. SAD to see that the costume slots, I went for on day one, having hoped the price would have dropped from Beta (at least slots 7 - 10) are 200 points less than I payed, vundabar, I'm out 800 points, all cause I couldn't see into the future, and wait 2 weeks. I guess my fault? But it would have been nice to have these sales on opening day, not after people got them already.
What hurts is, like I said, 212 megs of info right? OK.... why is the costume part of the character creator (and the Tailor) still broken in a few ways? First, can't zoom in properly on lower body and boots. Secondly, Wisp Aura still gone from new characters, and Thirdly.... Oh wait just checked they fixed the female-shirt-scarf thing... OK so two things >... :|
Again, I'm just kinda upset some of these things are happening, or going overlooked.
But yeah... -
I'm really, really worried about what the prices are going to be for the Paragon store. We've heard some things have changed, and some things have not. I see there are "Sales" going on for items so far, but none of which I had hoped there would be a sale on. A few things from the old prices are so amazingly expensive, that it doesn't seem worth it in the least, and I'm praying some of those went down in price to make them actually affordable and worth the cost of actual money, and not that I have to wait 14 months just to get enough, and nothing ELSE just to get them.
I love everything about Issue 21 and Freedom, just the old prices scare me greatly, and I truly hope the new ones are worth it. I'd hate to have to leave the game, on the ideal that all Paragon Studios cares about is $5 and $10-ing people, rather than nickle and dime-ing. -
I have a question. I watched all of the U-Steam stuff, I read all of the info, and one thing they were never clear on, is just HOW in game, the new system works. Is it something done account wide that you set up? Or is it per character, you open the UI, put the tokens in and unlock the stuff? If it is per character, I'd have to guess, every character would get the same amount of tokens, and they wouldn't make you pick and choose WHICH characters got what rewards. That would be a rather large downgrade to how it is now (every character able to get all rewards). I'm just confused on this, and maybe someone can shed some light on it for me.

I love you Zombie Man, I LOVE YOOOOU!
I support this post, and pray we will someday see this.
I love all the ideas for the summons, it would expand Masterminds out greatly.
I also love the idea of electric buff, I've been saying it for years now, how cool it would be.
Then you bought up Energy control and energy buff, and I was like "......Yes... Make this happen, fund this, bribe senators." -
Quote:<3At first I questioned whether they meant all of the costume pieces or perhaps a sub-set, but I very quickly realized that it is very clearly all of the costume pieces. Why? Because this is what he said:
Complete Magic Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
This is what he DID NOT say:
Magic Baron Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
Magic Witch Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
Magic Bolero and High Color (from the Magic Pack)
You see, the sub-sets within the Magic Costume Set have specific names: Baron, Witch, High Collar, Magic Bolero. If that's what he meant, that's what he would have said.
While we haven't had redname clarification, I'm confident that ALL of the costume pieces from the Magic Pack will be available for 400pp. As mentioned earlier in this thread, the temp power from booster packs will probably also be 400pp, leaving the costume change emotes to make up another 200-400pp.
And who knows, maybe there will be "all costume pieces, plus temp power, plus costume change emotes" bundle for roughly $10. -
Quote:the costume packs will NOT be half the price they are now, you miss read that,
note the (from the magic pack) part of that.
That means that you get one costume out of the set, in the magic example, you get the baron costume from that set for $5 then $5 more for the witch one, and then there are the emotes and the auras, and so on. So to get all of the stuff from that one booster pack you will pay a lot more.
Their should still be a way to buy the whole booster pack for 800 points then, but I am willing to bet that will not be the case.
"COMPLETE, MAGIC, COSTUME, SET". This means all costume pieces that came with the pack not just a single costume in said pack, this question was already asked, and answered. It's the Magic Pack with out the power or costume change emotes. But it has all the costume pieces, for 400 Points - Five dollars. And yes, it will be 800 points for what would be the old booster pack, they stated there would not be a raise in cost from what we've been used to paying, just more choice of what we want to pick out from something. You see what one person says, and try to turn it into what YOU want to see, rather than truth. -
.....Oh wait.... You're right... my bad x.x Just pretend like this never happened...
-
I bought the Animal pack today, and I was looking through the Auras. Seeing the two new ones, but also noticed, Snow, and Firefly are no longer selectable.
-
I found the Combat Auras... I was unaware the dances weren't going to be out for going rogue, they seemed fine to me, and until the end of Beta, I was able to do both still... I thought with 18 and Going Rogue, with the dances being in there to test, they would be out, to test.
-
If the game is fully released, then I do have a question...
The Ability to make any Aura a Combat Aura - Where is this? I see no option for it, and it was in before and promised before.
New Dances - Not there.
Several OTHER things - Not released yet, that were promised, or were in the beta. Why are these things not in the game now? -
GOOD NEWS Everyone: Update to my problem
Upon installing ATI 10.4 Drivers, and testing it for over 45 minutes ( things had messed up sooner before ) both me and my roommate had CoH and Vent running, and had no problems (Yet) That we could find. It is possible 10.1 was the cause of the issues, but more extensive testing will be needed to be done durring the week, with longer game play time. I will update if anything else messes up. -
Quote:I've gotten vent to work. I've posted this earlier, but more problems are occurring , such as my entire internet connection slowing to a halt. Which is not something I have ever seen before. I do not have Hijack this. As I said, I will try the 10.4 Drivers, tomorrow, it is far to late in the evening for me to do extensive testing at this time. As for limiting my FPS? I have no idea why I would do such a thing. After all, I ran CoH at its Peek before I17, with no issues, I've tested it again at its lowest possible graphics, and it continues to build up memory insanely quickly with out letting any of it go. I've done this with Vent off as well, the same thing happens. I'm not sure what else you would like me to answer.CoH has not been shy about using more than 1GB of RAM in the past, even on systems with less memory than yours. I mentioned 1.2GB because that was the number you mentioned in the post I replied to. If you had not only been skimming my posts, you might have noticed that I have previously mentioned that other memory usage numbers you have quoted are not necessarily excessive either.
If high CPU usage was the issue, you would not necessarily get "corruption all over the place", you would get slow performance for other applications. Slow performance for Ventrillo (specifically due to high CPU usage by other programs) is one known cause for sound issues with said program.
Yes, your processor *should* be able to handle the load, but, as you may have noticed, *there appears to be something wrong*. The interesting thing is then to determine *what* is wrong, and being able to rule out things that are *not* wrong is very helpful in that process. Note: Rule out, not dismiss.
Also, it seems somewhat unlikely that high memory usage *on its own* would cause the system issues you are describing. In your extremely experienced opinion, does it seem likely that a program using less than half of your (rather significant) available memory would cause the severe reactions you are seeing? You may want to run that by your professional tech friends too.
As I've said from the start, it's very possible that i17 comes with a memory leak, but a high memory usage is not in itself proof of a memory leak. Ruling out other possibilities helps. Figuring out why it's happening to you but not everyone else helps. Narrowing down the exact circumstances in which the problem occurs helps.
Now, this forum is a place where players can get help from other players. You should ask yourself what your purpose here is; do you want to vent, or do you want people to try and help you?
If it's the latter, I would suggest that you drop the attitude, stop insulting and neg-repping the people who try to help you, and *start answering questions*, regardless of how silly they may seem to you.
Posting the CoH Helper/Hijack This reports that were previously suggested could also be helpful. -
Quote:so if 10.4 doesn't work for me tomorrow, I'm screwed? That's it? Cause you guys aren't admitting to anything wrong, despite the fact so many people are saying something is very wrong. If its not a Drivers issue, and Its SURELY not my PC, cause nothing ELSE is happening, save for when running CoH, then it HAS to be a problem, with City of Heroes, and XP. After all, the friends I have who have windows 7 and Vista have said they don't have any issues, any other XP user I've spoken to have told me they've had problems very close to what I've had happening, or exactly the same.I would not recommend going back to any of the drivers from before 9.7. We found a problem last year in the ATI drivers which they fixed in the 9.7 drivers. Remember that we've reworked a lot of the plumbing of graphics engine of the game to try and take advantage of newer features to improve performance on many recent (within the last 5 years or so) video cards and older drivers which may have worked fine before I17 will not be acceptable with I17.

Quote:1.2 GB of ram? In later posts I stated, both Physical and Virtual ram shot up past 1.6 on its own with in 15 minutes only, not counting all other programs I was running, and according to a tech i called today at NC, CoH shouldn't be using, at any given time, more than 1, at all. Odd that you are saying you are saying otherwise.Again, 1.2 GB memory usage doesn't seem excessive on a system with 3+ GB RAM (frankly, I'd be more concerned if it never grew beyond 1GB). Also, with 3+GB of RAM, you'd have plenty of memory left even with a program using 1.2GB. So, while maybe there could be a common root cause for the instability and "high" memory usage (and again, I'm not convinced that 1.2GB is excessive), it doesn't seem likely that high memory usage alone is causing your performance issues.
Did you check your CPU usage with CoH + Ventrillo running?
Have you tried shutting down other 3rd party programs/services (most notably the ATI HotKey Poller)?
Do the CoH lag issues persist when you have NO other programs (including Ventrillo) running?
Does Ventrillo continue to exhibit sound skipping if you set CoH's processor affinity so that it only uses one of your processor cores?
Have you tried limiting your FPS?
It is not the CPU... I am extremely experienced with computers. Its not, the CPU, if the CPU was having issues, there would be corruption all over the place, not just the game, not just vent. Obviously you didn't read what I said I did WITH vent, you just skimmed it, or you would have read, that I've gotten vent TO work, but there are now BIGGER issues, like my entire connection dieing out, due to the slow down of my entire system.
The CPU usage for Vent and CoH is as its always been, no more. That part did not change from Issue 16 to Issue 17. As stated earlier, tomorrow when I have more time I will try other drivers as Tex suggested. First the 10.4 drivers (which I am unsure will work, other people with them are having constant crash problems) and then my older 8.12 drivers, which up until I17 and my switch to 10.1, worked, just fine. If I try the other drivers, and it continues its not my system, sorry to say.
By the by? I have a 3.2 Ghz Dual core Processor. Its a monster processor that has had MANY other games, programs and what have you running, with zero problem. I HIGHLY, doubt, it could POSSIBLY be my monster-processor.
I've also talked to a few of my professional tech friends? They also agree, it is not the processor. As its using the same amount it had been Prier to I17. -
Quote:On the reporting/bugged thing, maybe, I'm not sure. I'm going to install 10.4 later today. I'll try it out, see how it goes, if this still happens... I'll install the Older drivers I had, which had been working -peeerfectly- up until I changed. which was 8.12... A lot of people ran 8.9 or 8.12 because of how solid these were and how WELL they worked with City of Heroes. So, you are still running the 10.1 Catalyst drivers, right? And what video card are you using (apologies if you've posted it and I've missed it)?
EDIT: found your video card info in another message: ATI HD 4870 1 Gig GDDR5
Video drivers can be the cause of memory leaks. We have seen memory leaks with ATI drivers in the past. I understand that you are hesitant to upgrade to the 10.4 drivers, but understand that we can't make the game work around all of the problems in each driver version and mainly try to support the latest drivers. We do occasionally find work arounds for problems in drivers, but not always.
There are only a few issues that I know of with the 10.4 drivers and those issues are also present in the 10.1 drivers. Have the people reporting problems with the 10.4 drivers /bugged them or reported them here in the forums?
The Latest drivers arent always the best, and ATI has proven this fact, by bringing out later, but horribly faulty drivers in the past. However, Over the weekend, I'll try the 10.4... and then the 8.12 if the 10.4 don't work to well. We'll see how it goes from there.
You may be right on the Driver issue, but we'll have to see what happens. -
Quote:I have told you how much memory i have, in another post, I said how much I had, I'll say it again, my total memory is 4 gigs. 3.25 seen and used by Windows XP SP3. After 5 minutes, Nearly a gig, after 10 minutes, 1.1 Gigs, after 15 minutes nearing 1.5, and that is when it either crashes, shuts my Internet down, or I'm forced to close it.You still have not provided us with hard numbers on the leak rate. After 5 minutes of playing, what is the memory/Virtual Memory size. What about after 10 minutes? After 15 minutes? etc.
Also, how much memory is in your system?
I'd like to add, Once more, I've -reset- graphics, and turned them down to the lowest possible, (where as prier to I17, I could pump EVERYTHING up to the highest.) And its still happening.. -
Well, I've been doing more testing. I tried a suggestion that someone put up in the forums, about turning Ventrillos Priority to "High" In the task manager. It seemed to work for a bit it, there were no skips, or anything. but my memory usage with City of heroes, Even Virtual memory, went up to near 1.2 Gigs in Atlas Park, the game began to lag, Vent went totally insane, and I disconnected from -both-. Yet my internet connection, the Modem itself, stayed connected, I couldn't even access my e-mail through Outlook Express UNTIL I closed City of Heroes.
It has gone beyond simply Vent, now its draining and working over SO much Memory, its causing my entire system to slow down, and my entire connection to falter. There has to be something wrong with City of Heroes. A lot of people I speak to, are having the SAME issues, some can't run ANYTHING with out CoH now, and some even get lagged out before getting DCed, all of this happening after I17. I've tried all your suggestions, none of them have changed anything, and the memory/Virtual memory is building up so fast, by the Megs.
A Side note, people trying 10.4 drivers have outright told me, they crash every 10-15 seconds, and have had OTHER issues outside CoH. 10.4 drivers are not good. 10.1 are the last known working drivers to keep CoH actually running. but -nothing- points to Driver issues in this case, it wouldn't be causing the types of connective issues that I'm experiencing now. And my internet connect is -perfect- right now. I checked download rate, ping, and even called them to make sure.
