I wouldn't say it's over yet. Base building has been on life support for so long that I think if the dev's could find a way to pull the plug, they would. Stacker has been one of the biggest names in base building, If not arguably the biggest. I think stacker is seeing the same thing I am. There is still hope for the bases, but it's fleeting. Already so many inventive and creative builders have left or given up on Base Building, that if something isn't done soon, there will be no one to care about bases.
I don't think the Dev's are trying to deliberately ignore the bases, I just think there isn't a dev who has any interest in trying to save the bases. There not trying to be cold or callous. This is there business. And the dev's have invested no passion into base building.
Is it over? No
It's just lying in a hospital bed in a dark room. Tubes and wires sticking out and running to machines. no one visits anymore. No one cares. -
Actually if I remember correctly i17 actually FIXED this. I had two 8600gt's in sly well before i17 and I saw no difference when I dropped to 1 card just before I bought a newer graphics card. I thought I remember this being discussed in the beta notes and that i17 opened up sly and crossfire. But its been a long time since then and I might be drinking the funny water. So I really can't tell you for sure.
I am currently running a ati5770 single and I can open up Ultra mode ALMOST all the way. It get a bit jerky in heavy traffic areas. -
There is also the old saying, "Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me". How many times do we need make lists? We have come up with different options for the dev's to use as a template for change, and they get ignored. We have told the dev's that we'd be happy with just adding in-game items, Heck, we've even told them to post in the base thread and some of us would be happy for an update. I think that we base builders have been more than helpful to the dev's in hopes for SOMETHING to make us happy.
I just feel that as a base builder, I am being ignored. -

Sigh..
I guess it's true then. I know i have heard it before, but I just thought it was just a few people overreacting.
The dev's hate us!
I think the base building community has firmly been planted at the bottom rung of the ladder, and getting stepped on all the time for other things in the game deemed more important then to even say so much as a word to us. I mean, I wouldn't even be writing this post if the dev's could have so much as just posted telling us to please be patient, (as if we haven't been already).
I'll still have hope that one day we will get some kind of love from the dev's, but every day they wait to give us that is another day I lose a little bit of that hope.
I guess it doesn't really matter, I only play the game about twice a week for a few hours at a time. But I really want something else to draw me in again like the bases did in i13.
I still have hope. -

I understand what you're saying here, and even agree with you. But I don't think that you being punished unfairly or not. If anything it causes you to be more creative when it comes to making you name. I know thats not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. And maybe one day they will release those names that are held by Delinquent accounts to be reused, but until then there are still many names out there.

I have the same mac as you and the same problems unfortunately.
I really cannot give you any advice because I haven't been able to change the lag issues with the base at all. It is kind of weird because at the same settings that lag in the base docent lag on bit in the game proper. -
I can agree to this.
I use my base so little now that it almost makes me kinda sad when I do actually use it. I spent a months fine tuning my base and was rather proud of what I had done. I was hoping that we would have gotten some easy to implement bones thrown at us in any one of the various updates to no avail. If it means an easier to use base editor, more options such as thinner walls more wall skins and multi floor option, as well as adding more existing in game items into the editor. It would be worth it. -
I think that I am one that would love to have more stuff added to the base inventory. I wouldn't ask for anything that isn't currently in the game either. Just let us have some of the in game props that exist. I would live to place a wrecked car in the corner with a tool chest next to it. Or to be able to make a room to look like a cave (even the texture that everyone hates). I guess I am just frustrated that we haven't gotten anything. Maybe it is actually harder than I am thinking it would be, But then I would love to hear that from a dev . Even that would be something.

I checked and yes there is a definite change to the way it looks. While I am thinking that with the new Ultra Mode this is WAI I also hope that this will get fixed. The best way would be to allow us some actual water textures and not make us jump thru hoops as we have been doing for so long.
Sadly it appears that from the sounds of things about the next few issues, the bases are still low on the totem pole of things to get to. Sometimes I think the devs hate base builders worse than villains :P -
well, I haven't heard of ANYTHING like this before, so I would hope that it is an isolated case and that it doesn't happen again. If it does please make sure you bug it cuz Id really hate to see this thing spread out to other bases.

Quote:Yes It is a cool part of the G13. I have a macbook pro and a pc and because of the way the mac loses its ability to ALT+ any key I had to adjust my macros for the macbook. The g13 does this(via anotherprofile specifically for the mac) so I don't have to load form a save file on the computer. I can just plug in and go. however if you bring this to a friends computer you'll still have to load a driver for the g13 onto the computer. The one thing I like is the ability to watch (via the lcd ) my RAM useage on the fly to know if I am overloading my ram and need to unloadgfx the game. as well as the built in timers and clock have also lessened my need for herostats thus saving more cpu cycles for the game
I do like the look of the G13. One thing that is cool about this (although I don't know how it works out in practice) is that it has onboard memory for the profiles, so if you go somewhere else, and want to play on their computer, you can bring just this and not need to install anything. -
Well I have used three game pads for coh in all of my time playing COH.
1.) nastromo n52 game pad: This was my first gamepad and works pretty well. there is a bit of a learning curve but not too bad for the programming. it has multiple modes so it would work well for what you want to do. I used the different modes with my Kheld with some success and actually played this thing till it broke. I have owned 2 of these and like them.
2.) the Siatek gamepad. I forget the actual name of this one but thats all right IMO because its a forgettable gamepad. the learning curve is higher than the n52 (I never got it to work the way I wanted it to) and is slightly uncomfortable to use in long sessions. It also has different modes and is likely to do what you want it to do but, of the three I have owned this one was the worst.
3.) the Logitech g-13. This is my current game pad and the one I like the most. it also has three modes to program but these modes are on separate buttons that you don't have to program. The lcd screen has different functions that can assist you in fine tuning your game and has support for many other games than coh. This game pad is as easy to program as the n52 if not easier. A few problems I have been having though are that I will sometimes lose my profile because the profile loader will decide to load another profile. You can lock this in preferences to stop this. And I also have been dropping a button on my logitech trackman wireless mouse. While I am not sure that the g-13 is causing this, it only just started after I started using the g-13.
I dont know if any of this will help you in your decision in choosing a game pad but I think that any of these will allow you to enjoy your game more. have fun. -
Quote:The second invite he would have been on my ignore list. If you allow him to invite you more than you have invited this on yourself. The ignore button is there for a reason. Use it.It's not just that, you also get ninjavited to SG's.
I had this clown, whos name was "The man of steal" (yes wrong steel) ninjavite me over and over again, he said stuff like "but I'm Superman" (note, he was like a blaster) or "come hang with us in the hall of justice" so when I finally rejected him for the 10th time, he finally gave up and messaged me "Ok, I'll let Batman know your not joining"

I think that there is a guide on what to do to connect to test server over in the mac section of these forums.

I like this idea, actually I'd like any idea that adds anything to the base, but this would be an awesome way to do things.
-
the days I would have went are already taken, but I'll take the 12th of april and see what happens

Quote:I would fear this for the simple fact that new SG owners may end up spam inviting in hopes to fill their SG with toons. I understand why you want this done, but I fear that it may create unintended spam.Sweet. One last tiny request: can you make it possible to email a supergroup invite somehow, some way to /sgi someone who isn't online at the moment?
I have no problem with and ability to either promote/demote via an e-mail. -
I lost my father to cancer and it saddens me every time I hear of another succumbing to cancer.
My deepest condolences to you and your family and friends as well as hers. -
Hmm... its not changing the profile on you? get into the key profiler and under
preferences click the profile tab there is two boxes to check enable default profile and enable persistent profiles.
I dont know if you want to enable your profile as a persistent profile if your also playing wow or another game with the g13 but its not too hard to change back if you do. if you have already done this then I'll have to think of what else I did to get mine to work. I hope you get it to work for you as I find this incredibly helpful to my gaming experience . -
Yes I have a g13 and it works fine for me on my pc and ok on the mac. As far as It appears to me there is no set profile for COH which is unfortunate but it recognizes keystrokes just fine. I have mine set up just as I had my n52 gamepad set up, buttons g1-g5 as numbers 1-5 on the keyboard and the buttons g8-g12 as numbers 6-0. I then had the joystick setup for the standard wasd keys. You have to do this through the profile editor and just input the keystrokes into the appropriate key on the graphic. make sure you save it as a profile as the g13 tends to revert to the default profile at times.
I now have extra keys set up for a map, target nearest enemy, and an auto accept dialog buttons as well. I had to set up the Dialog accept as a macro because there is no default key set for this in the keymapping for the game, But you can just as easily set a key up for that (I believe) in the game. That goes for any of the keys on the g13 for keymapping.
I did it this way so if I ever swap computers form one to another I dont have to reprogram a bunch of keys either in the g13 or the game as the g13 saves it profiles in the gamepad itself. It makes transferring to the mac and back to my pc easy.
My only problem is the mac has an issue with multiple keystrokes with the g13. For instance I cannot get it to accept an "alt+keyinput" (which the pc does just fine), so I ended up making a macro for that.
What exactly is the g13 not doing right for you? Is it not responding at all? -
I stated that because you assume that things have changed for bases and raiding post i13. I just assume that they may just be on hold. Either way no one knows for sure except for the dev's. I know that if I created something for a purpose and it didn't work right I'd try and fix it, I'd figure the dev's are the same way.
None of that really matters, what matters is when we are ever going to hear what is happening with bases. Their as well, Only the dev's know.
