  1. Hey all. I have been working and re-working this character's build for probably two years now because I love her so much, but I've never felt great about her. I finally decided to start all over and see what I could come up with in the way of greater survivability in exchange for some damage that I had been holding on to for so long.

    Basically I had tried forever to make do with the defense given by DA, but I still found myself dying all the time because of all of the ranged attacks. I decided that I would "skip" DA and just try my luck at typed def to sm/l and en/-en, and it seems to have worked out okay.

    Notes:
    I hate getting knocked back, hence the 3 kb protection IOs.
    I'm well over the def sofcap to sm/l, en/-en with 1 purp insp.
    I have caltrops because it fits the character, because as a scrapper I don't have a taunt aura and I want to keep the baddies close to me (after luring them into my trap! ), and as damage mitigation because of Caltrops' fear effect and the kd proc from ragnarok i slotted in it. Let me know what you think.

    This is a super expensive build, but I can make money pretty fast and I believe I can get it together.
  2. Does this seem wrong to anyone? Why would females not get a chainmail skirt option when males get a chainmail "kilt" option. What is up with that? Is it something that will show up later or are the devs just saying "eh" on this one?

    Sorry, i'm not exactly sure what %fire/rech proc means, lol. The only procs I see available are the one from the Posi Blast set and the Ragnarok kd proc. Did i misunderstand?

    I agree with both of you though, about the dam/range in Fistful. Definitely a good idea.

    Here's what I've come up with now. I kept the entropic Chaos procs partially for thematic reasons and partially because I wanted to have a heal but didn't have a way to fit the power pool in effectively. If you guys see something that would significantly improve the toon that I should take those out for, I'm totally willing to hear it. Otherwise, you I've gotten some excellent advice

  6. Okay, so here's what I did.

    -3 slots out of fast healing and used remaining 3 slots for 2 healing IOs and the miracle proc (which drops those set bonuses)
    -dropped the +rech proc from shockwave (you're right, how much +rech does one toon actually need? lol)
    -dropped one slot from DP (losing +7.5 rech)
    -replaced Spring Attack with Eviscerate

    -Added 1 Damage Res IO to resilience
    -Added 3 slots to Boxing and slotted KC set for +def.
    -Added 1 slot to SJ and slotted Winter's gift Movement speed and Slow/Rech Res unique.

    End result (Assuming that I will slot Strike with Superior Scrapper's Strike set):

    30.5% def to sm/l
    21% to f/c, en/-en

    32.6% res to sm/l
    23% res to fire
    28% res to cold
    13% to rest

    175% global rech
    way past perma DP, thusly 715% regen (71.77 hp/sec) "passive" regen
    162 sec rech on IH, 1749% regen (175.6 hp/sec) with it on
    way past perma hasten
    20% slow/-rech res

  8. Thanks for advice all, much appreciated. After taking a second look at the build I see similar problems with it. Working on it now , I'll see what I can come up with.

    Also, In-game I realized that eviscerate is sooooo much more useful than spring attack, so that's the first thing to go. SA is good on some characters, but this is not one of them XD

    Also, remember that the superior version of the scrapper's strike set is gonna give me 5% def to sm/l i believe, which will be really nice. I'm still gonna see if I can't get some better def/res numbers out of this build though

  11. Hey thanks for the comments Eji, I appreciate it. Couple things:

    The reason I didn't go with spiritual or musculature is that with agility i get the +Def AND +rech, which i think is really valuable, although that may just be a personal thing.

    The 4 pts of kb protection is probably a good idea. I can use one of those +kb protection proc slots for something else productive.

    Do you think, for explosive and fist full, you'd slot a damage proc or a different proc? The thing that's nice about having 5 posi blasts is that you get the +rech bonus, but maybe it's not worth it?

    For frozen fists, I probably won't use it that much, but i slotted it just for the set bonuses. I din't like to slot boxing because usually when i skip a power (like frozen fists) it's to get a different power that i'd like to slot. I could do hibernate, i hadn't really thought of that. Is it worth slotting hibernate for set bonuses? probably not is my guess, but I'll play around with it.

  12. Hey all. Pretty new to blasters, I generally find face-planting every two seconds through the low levels too much to bear, but I had a good toon idea and tried this combo. It's sort of a soft control based build, as Ice has some nice slows and -rech powers and such. I mostly built for sm/l defense and +recharge so that I can get RoA up as fast as humanly possible. Went with Agility alpha, does anyone have a good suggestion for interface slot?

    I'm worried about the single target damage, but i can't justify snap shot or the long activation time on ranged shot in my st attack chain, and i'm worried about end as the positron's blast sets are not very end friendly, but i really want that + recharge.

    What do you guys think?

  13. Hey all, just wanted to throw this build out there and see what you guys thought about it. It is absurdly expensive!!! Well over 12 billion inf, but what is mids for right? Has anyone ever actually tried to complete a build like this?
    I've looked at a lot of the claws and regen and claws/regen builds around the forums but didn't see any quite this pricey. Anyway, what do you think? Are there improvements I could make?

    I'm basically going for +rech, healing, +def where I can get it, and sort of an all around play feel. The incomplete CI set in strike is holding the place of the Scrapper's Strike archetype origin enhancement (hopefully the superior version ultimately).

    Do you think the FF proc in Shockwave makes sense or would it be better as an Achilles Heel proc in Slash?

    It is important to me that I keep this combo though, for concept reasons. It really seems like nobody plays it that much though, as evidenced by your sole response to my post XD

  15. Hey all. I am finally moving out of my comfort zone of melee toons and into the world of blasters! Wohoo! However, this means I have almost no experience with their powersets. I had an excellent idea for a character though and i need some guidance on particular powers. The combo is Archery/Ice.

    I looked around the forums to see if anyone had a guide or build or something for me to look at, but it seems like an infrequently used combo.

    My specific questions are;
    Should I bother trying to get between 32.5-45% def to ranged or sm/l? Or would that gimp too many other things?
    I would like to go with the Ice epic, but is that worth it?
    Is there a way to avoid dying all the time? lolol
    Which powers from Ice are skippable with this combo?

    I'm sorry I don't have a build posted yet, I just am not sure how to start. I figured I'd play it a little and just see how it feels.

  17. I was fiddling around with Mids and I realized that this could be an amazing combo: BA/Fire scrapper. The damage mitigation via KB plus the crazy amount of AOE damage, plus the strong single target damage, plus 3 force feedback procs in AOE attacks? I am so tempted to make one of these now. This could be ported to a brute as well, although all the KB might actually be too much mitigation as it would interfere with Fury. Also, this could be modified to fit a TW toon as well... man would that be nuts...

    Anyway, just something to play around with

    I could do that, and I've considered it, but I feel like that would cut down on my AOE effectiveness immensely. Burn is great, but things run away once they get set on fire. Lotus drops is just okay, but it's good enough that in a chain of 3 attacks it makes a significant difference. Also with LD, the defense debuff and the -res proc going off every once in a while are both nice as a starter attack. But if it was just those two and lets say the pyronic judgment, I my tendency is to feel like there won't be enough AOE for an AOE-centered toon.

    Maybe I could change the build a little so that it's a more traditional katana build, with Achilles Heel procs in all my attacks. Or maybe I could pick up Flashing Steel. It's not a great power, but it would give me a little more AOE.

    Either way, I'll take this into consideration.
  21. So, I have this Fire/Katana toon that I love to death. Leveling her was a blast, and with DA she was really pretty survivable. However, I'm started to get tired of relying on DA, and when so much of the high-level content pretty much walks all over DA, I felt that I needed to re-work the build. The problem is, I've re-worked it at least half a dozen times and at this point I'm feeling totally lost.

    My goals were 32.5-35% def to sm/l and en/-en damage, the best recharge I can get, and a focus on AOE damage. The lack of taunt aura can be frustrating, but when she's performing at her peak most things don't survive after an AOE chain of (FE/Buildup)Lotus Drops-Fireball-Burn. I haven't even gotten her incarnate stuff yet, so I fully expect her to be amazing.

    The problem now, like I said before, is that she's on her fifth or sixth reworking and because of it, her survivability in-game is lacking. I posted a build below that I was thinking about working with, but I feel that I'm missing something obvious that would help. I'm planning to go agility core alpha, reactive radial interface, and pyronic core judgment.

    Can anyone point out to me anything I'm doing that's stupid or unecessary? Or anything that I haven't thought about yet?

  22. That's really it. Has anyone heard when the new Mids update is coming out? I've got a TW build that i'd like to test on on mids, and with all the new Alpha's I've had to switch my plan for a bunch of toons.
  23. Also, does anyone know when the new Mids comes out? It should have Titan Weapons and the new Incarnates on it yeah?
