It would kill it (and yes kill is an exaggeration) because it takes so much longer so the merit to time ratio isn't very worth it.
We did try to AtT, but we didn't have success. -
..and they didn't even raise merits? Seems Katie is all but a dead TF then.

Is this right? Is it supposed to be this way? GRRR

Quote:My dark/rad had no issues, but I was at -1. Did you change your difficulty?Hmm. My Dark/Dark Defender is having a rough time with Trapdoor. Tried pulling him in the lava and he just kept jumping out (even from melee range), tried pulling him down the corridor but I couldn't dent his HP (so he was still getting a regeneration boost, or he's really resistant to negative energy). Sent my temp pets at him, and used up my inspirations. I'll have to try again later. I haven't had such a problem doing damage to him with my previous nine characters.

I haven't understood the complaints. I have soloed this arc on ALL of my 50s, and I am not always IOed out. I have soloed this on my FF def (with ONLY SOs), my TA def (with ONLY SOs), and my storm def. I did put the difficulty at -1 because I wanted to go as quickly as possible. But I figure if my defenders can solo it, there can't be many people who can't do it.

I have had the opposite experience with TFs and i19. Once we found out that shards drop, I have done more "kill all" TFs than ever before.
Before i19, the biggest reason people did speed TFs was that you received Merits for the TF and getting done quickly meant you could spend your merits quickly. -
This question made me laugh. I have to admit, I don't play on Guardian, but on the 6 servers I play on, an ITF is guaranteed to happen many, many times every night.

Quote:I can actual see why someone might like traps over FF. Thanks. As someone else said, compared to ff, traps feels more active. And before they bugfixed (or nerfed...depends on who you ask heh) poison traps it was a very effective set...still is but not as much as before.
With ff, i might have been fine with it except single-target, short-term buffs are annoying to reapply to a team or your pets...and ff has two of these. -
Quote:I didn't agree until I thought more about it. If you think about sonic resonance or thermal, you get the two buffs to put on players (yes, I know they are different, but they are still two buffs), but you seem to get a LOT more with other sets, but with bubbles you seem to get a lot less (no debuff, no heal, no +hit points, etc).
Forcefields is definitely a set that could do with a total revamp.
I actually love my bubbler, but can't play her much because it gets old. If the set offered another power or two that feels more useful, I would be all over it! -
Quote:Finally someone who agrees with me on this. I have a 39 AR/traps and I love the costume, name, theme, and it kills me that i hate playing her because of the secondary. You didn't mention traps as a defender primary, and I have to admit I don't have one, but I can't even begin to imagine playing one. I would be so bored!I hate the traps set (HATE..fiery, passionate, HATE for /traps on anything), and I want some sort of "techno" set for secondary.
I have tried to have the conversation with other players about why they like traps. And I mean, asking them what they like about it, not telling them they shouldn't like it. Most get REALLY defensive and some try to tell me that i am crazy, but I just don't like the set AT ALL. -
Wow--MM/bots seems to be disappointing to many. I have one, but I think she is lvl 22ish. I am just surprised at the lack of fun because I heard they are a pretty high powered MM.
Personally, I REALLY thought I would like masterminds, but I have 5 or 6 and the highest is upper 30s. I just don't enjoy them the way I would like. I get bored telling pets what to do rather than just doing it. -
I know that I always get called out on using the word epic for Khelds. My point, though, is more about the fact that the unlockable AT is one that many (not all) people don't enjoy playing with and many (not all) people don't enjoy playing.
-
EDIT: My PB! I haven't played him in ages. So long, in fact, that I had totally forgotten about him. He just feels weak compared to any of my other characters.
SO sad. The epic toon that has to be unlocked (even though I STILL HATE that they unlock at 20 now) should be EPIC! I know some disagree, but I really don't enjoy my PB or WS. I had 4 and deleted 2 (the human only versions). -
I leveled my tri-form WS to 50 and have never really enjoyed it. I know people who have WS as their favorite character, but I come close to deleting him all the time.
The other 50 I have that I don't enjoy is my electric blaster. If the end drain was more profound (or really mattered) for stronger enemies, I would like it. That is the reason I made him, but he drains end, but not enough on enemies to really mean anything, at the cost of damage. -
I get Vanguard drops off of ANY mission completion if I have the day job built up.
I have gotten AE tickets for the same reason, not in AE. -
I understand why we aren't getting a ton of new slots. How about just 4 or 5 when we hit 50 so the lvl 49 power can be slotted well. That's all--in essence 1 or 2 more slots, not many.
-
Thanks guys. Mostly I just needed to give up the idea that I am getting more powers (and somehow in my mind, miraculously, more slots).
I do *LOVE* that my lower level toons no longer have to struggle to 20 or 21 to be any fun.
Heck, even if I just take teleport or invis, that's something I didn't have before. Also, the couple of tanks that I had that didn't have taunt will now get it. -
I wasn't attempted to complain, but I can see how it read this way. More than anything, I was kind of hit with the realization that I hadn't considered before. I was thinking, "great! Inherent fitness means I can grab a couple of more powers" Then I realized that most powers I would get wouldn't have slots, so I was looking for input.
-
The arc is fast, but gets old. To be honest, I just changed to -1 difficulty, dropped the AV mission in RWZ and that's how I most quickly got through the arcs on most of my 50s.
-
I thought inherent fitness was a great idea, but now that I have actually begun the process of respecing, I am not sure that I like it at all.
So I get 3 new power, but I get no slotting? It feels like my respecs (I have only done 2) will just end up being a lot of things like medicine pool or concealment pool, both of which could still be used with no slotting. I certainly can't do a lot of adding the fighting pool because I have no slots to give it.
Maybe the answer is the new power I get with the Alpha slotting--if I get extra endurance, for example, maybe the fighting pool does make sense? Has anyone done any numbers on this? -
Great. Thanks all. And thanks for not ripping me apart for being so ignorant.
-
Thanks seebs, but one follow-up then. Why do I see people say, "are mids posted yet"? and things like that. What would need to be posted?
-
Kat--that was my thought. I have no end issues if I am able to active EA in the right context, but if I am not, then I am in trouble. So having end always helped seems like a good idea.
-
I see a lot about the "mids", but I have to suck up my embarrassment and just ask-what are they?
-
I have an Ice Tank and he seems to be the most difficult tank I have played in terms of survivability. He struggles with end and he struggles to survive (at times), so I am wondering if anyone has ideas for which tree is best? I haven't used any of them yet, in beta or live.
