Ice Tank...which Alpha Tree?

I have an Ice Tank and he seems to be the most difficult tank I have played in terms of survivability. He struggles with end and he struggles to survive (at times), so I am wondering if anyone has ideas for which tree is best? I haven't used any of them yet, in beta or live.

The first thing I'd do is head down to the Tanker forum and post your build to make sure that it's slotted as well as it could be. IME, once an Ice tanker hits 26 and gets EA endurance problems should largely be a thing of the past. Survivability shouldn't be a huge problem either, once you're soft-capped for defense.

It'll be easier to make a decision about which alpha tree you should get if you have solved all the issues you can without it.

Ice relies mostly on Defense, so Nerve(Acc) makes sense to works towards +Def. Cardiac(End Red) would help immediately alleviate Endurance issues.

However, I suggest Spiritual(Rech) to get Energy Absorption back quicker, and go for +Heal for to Boost Hoarfrost and Health.

End and Damage Resistance will make a big difference IMO. I run a ton of toggles and the extra resistance to S/L stacked on top of Tough will be nice...

hmmmm Perma Hoarfrost ??????????? maybe......

runs to Mids !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

I would go with End. Even though I love my Energy Absorbtion, it's very dependant on how many baddies it hits.

Also, do check your build with the tank gurus on the tank forums.

Kat--that was my thought. I have no end issues if I am able to active EA in the right context, but if I am not, then I am in trouble. So having end always helped seems like a good idea.

Personally, I'm going Spiritual.
Eventually, to the Radial path, I think. Recharge to round out my attacks (So I have a near-full chain of both AoE's and Single Target stuff), Healing for my beloved hoarfrost, Slow Duration and Jump Power because I grab aggro by tagging everything with Chilling Embrace using CJ/Hurdle and it is a lot of fun. Wheeee!

My other option I was mildly interested in was Nerve (radial as well) - Accuracy is fairly nice, taunt duration also helps with my reliance on taunt auras, and the un-reduced Defense Buff madness is very tempting....

Thing is, I don't do much in the way of TF's. If I was interested in hardcore tank powah I'd probably get Nerve. Or actually attempt to softcap my defenses.
However, I'll have a lot more fun with Spiritual, as the things it buffs fit my playstyle and common activities far better.

EDIT: I realize not everyone knows this ole chart I've been mulling over.

I used to do this too, until I realized it was taking too long for the aggroed baddies to catch up to me... because CE was slowing them down.

So I've been playing with using Icicles in the same way and toggling CE on when I have them in a good crowd.
