There are a lot of Grav haters out there, but I actually like it. Once you get Singularity, it can be a lot of fun.

Hello--
I play on several servers and have the maximum number of TF channels possible in hopes of always hearing about teams being formed, especially for TFs and Trials. I have great success with channels on Freedom and Liberty, for example. I have little success on my channels from Infinity (my preferred server) and Champion.
I realize that some of the success I have (or don't) is due to size of server population, but I was hoping for lists of the best channels on my servers. I know that some of the will be full, so I would like full and not full yet channels, if possible.
Thanks in advance. My servers are: Triumph, Victory, Liberty, Champion, Justice, Infinity, Virtue and Freedom. -
Quote:If you are worried about efficiency in the system (and getting your slots filled ASAP), then you might consider it difficult. If you enjoy the game (imagine that possibility!) and just play Incarnate content, you will accumulate what you need, even if you don't understand at first. If you are content playing content and understanding the rewards system later, you will be fine and it will make more and more sense.
Is the system hard to learn? How hard is it to create and then upgrade the powers for that slot? Are there any missions I should be doing regularly to gain shards? Should I focus on the task/strike force missions to gain rarer components? When should I try and unlock the other slots? Is this alot of questions? Am I being paranoid? How much wood COULD a wood chuck, chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
If you are looking for the efficiency, I will let someone else explain that... -
Quote:Exactly. Remember when Kahn went live? All you heard in channels was, "how do you defeat Reichs??". Then people realized that you don't kill him the first time you see him, you kill him at the end. These trials will have their tricks, too.Everyone needs to stop complaining. Give it two weeks. Play it a few times, try some new ideas. Try new tactics. Try new team compositions. Just keep trying and don't do the same thing every time.
If you fail, then get up and try to do it the same way you failed but harder this time, you're going to do nothing but fail. Change it up. Adapt.
If you still feel this way in two weeks, then you can complain. -
Quote:I have a different perspective on two parts of this:Her major points are S+L Resistance which is next to useless thanks to all the fire and energy flying around, she has very little ranged defence which for a melee based character who should be 'in there' shouldn't be a necessity either.
1) I think this is VERY comic book-ish in a GREAT way. A certain establised hero is nearly invulnerable to EVERYTHING, but matter from his home planet could kill him. Stories revolving around his weakness are much more prevalent and interesting than him just defeating everything with ease. That a comic book MMO is mirroring true comics--I like it!
2) It's the striving against the impossible that happens in comics, and for the game to have some situations where that is the case is amazingly great! Players still have a thousand other ways to do "easier" tasks, so to have some hard ones is great. Just because there are a couple of very difficult trials in the game, I don't think it is reason to complain, I think it is reason to rejoice. If I don't like it, I just play on the dozens and dozens of other things I could do. -

Quote:Serious question here--don't server transfers cost? I know we had that free few weeks, but in general, aren't they something like $9.99? To me, it would extremely rarely ever be something I would consider if I had to pay. I would just re-roll on a different server.
There is just very little reason to delete alts any more, now that we have server transfers.
I'd love to know I missed this somehow and that I can change servers anytime for free. -
I get this. I have a 50 WS that I just don't enjoy playing, but I can't bring myself to delete him. But every time I look at him, I cringe. I know some people say WS is their favorite, but I just don't like it.
-
Thanks for the responses. Makes me feel better about the fact that I haven't deleted many at all.
What about all the people in the game that I play with on PUGs that are always saying, "I deleted so many"? You guys have any input? -
I alt a lot. I hear people deleting alts all the time, but I have deleted maybe 5 toons since i3. I can't seem to do it. My rationale is that sometimes I think I hate an alt (like my bubbler defender), then I come back to it after shelving it for months and realize I like it, just maybe not for everyday use.
My other rationale is that, although I may not like the powerset (like my elec/devices blaster), who knows what changes may be made to it by the devs? Most of my shelved toons are 50s because I am a little OCD so it seems pointless to delete an alpha-unlocked 50, even if I don't play them. Maybe something will happen where a new TF works best with an electric/devices blaster (yes, I know I am reaching).
So I was wondering if anyone else experiences this and if anyone has criteria they use for deleting an alt. Who knows? Maybe you will convince me not to sit on old, unused toons.
One last thing, I guess I should say that, even though I alt a lot, I still have plenty of slots, so for me, at least, this is not a reason to delete yet. -
I don't think Faultline is *that* bad, but I do find boomtown to be pretty bad--even with no competition from another team. You basically need to sneak up and get in a kill before the 5th does. Not fun, and with a few teams doing it, it could be hard.

I would love auto accept/reject, BUT, you can only be prompted maximum of 3 times an hour and it is a buff, so I LOVE IT!

Ha Ha Turgenev--Thanks and I actually do already play on Freedom. I am one of the alt freaks so I play on many servers. Happy to play with you sometime, though!

Quote:Nice! It's great to see people appreciating the help!Back in January I came across a toon called True Blood wandering around Atlas park rather forlornly, he asked me a couple of questions and seeing as he was completely new to Paragon city I took a couple of hours to show him around, explain how everything works and gave him some influence to get him started and off I went. I thought no more of it until yesterday morning when I checked my in-game email and was gobsmacked to see an email from him saying goodbye as his ATI powered computer didn't like CoX and so he wasn't going to renew his sub. He had attached 999,999,999 influence! So if any of you know @true blood in real life please tell him @virtue says thankies.
Have any of you had anything like this happen to you? -
Quote:Thanks Eric. I guess I am jaded by one of my most recent experiences with one of the "main voices" on the server. He was putting together a TF and I asked if I could join. He then said, "Are you going to quit this time?" I was immediately confused. (I just don't quite TFs). He went on to tell me that the last TF he did with me I "thought I was the leader and wouldn't listen. Then I made sexual slurs and quit" I knew he was mistaken and, I think, politely told him so. Frankly I was so surprised I was not sure what to say. I know 100% that he was mistaken because I just am not the person to make sexual slurs. So I felt/feel a little stuck because "he takes detailed notes", but somehow he is wrong on this one (perhaps he took the notes, but attributed something to me by mistake). So I tried to gently say he was mistaken and he just blocked me. So it left a sour taste, to say the least.Welcome to the game and the forums, Abbadon!
Wow, sorry to hear that, shaggy -- Victory is my sole home in CoX, and I love its tight-knit friendly population (as one of the mid-lower population servers, you see a lot of the same people around). Feel free to gimme a shout sometime if you're on Victory and if I'm around I'll be happy to team with ya. -
I saw a few people mention passing by content, but I did see anyone mention that you can turn off xp (sorry if I missed it). If a player is concerned that they are leveling too fast, you can go to options and turn of xp and end leveling until you are ready.

I, personally, think people over exaggerate how good or bad a server is. I play on several servers, but I don't think I hate any of them.
Infinity:This is where I started and it tends to be populated enough. I find this server to be the most "adult" friendly server that I play on. I like it because people are respectful and there for the fun. The only downfall to Infinity that I have had is that I haven't found a global channel that helps me find a team as easily as other servers.
Freedom:I think Freedom used to be harder to like because it was so full of new players, but it is now not nearly as bad as everyone likes to think. At least you know that you can get a team on Freedom because of the high population.
Virtue:This server has the RP reputation, but I think just about anyone can jump on and be fine. The population rivals Freedom, so it's a great place to team.
Triumph: I just read the post saying how bad it is, but I don't have this problem. Getting on a TF hasn't been an issue (using Globals) and I haven't found any more jerks there than anywhere else.
Liberty: Same as Triumph, using globals I can always find a team, even though it is less populated. I find the server to have the most "dedicated" players--the ones that are on all the time and welcome anyone to their team.
Victory:This is the only server I have had much recent problems with the player base. I still play here, and it's not a big deal, but if there was a place that I didn't enjoy some of the "main" players, it would be here.
Justice and Champion: I do struggle a bit to find a team on these two, but the players are very nice. -
I need some number crunchers to help me on this one. For my tanks I usually get Tough and Weave, but when I pull up the numbers, it doesn't seem to add *that* much (between 5-7% if I remember). When I look at just using IOs in my attacks, I can get most of that back. So if I have the slots to put in the right IOs, is it a huge concern to get rid of Weave?
-
Thanks Dechs. I am not being argumentative here, but does it really have high resists? I tend to be that "blind" player who doesn't know the numbers, but the feel I get (and the comments I get about elec/) seem to say that it doesn't. Am I wrong?
-
I have an elec/db tank at 45. I like all powersets in that I just embrace whatever challenge they bring along with their benefits. As I have been playing this tank, however, I have been asking myself the question, "why would this be the power choice of someone unless, like me, they just wanted to try all powersets?" I am struggling to see why I would make a second tank with elec/anything. So I am curious what others who love the set would tell me.
(Just to be clear, I don't question why someone might like /elec)
Thanks for any input. -
Some guy on my team says that if you get more debt, you get more shards and he "tested" it. I want to say he is totally full of it, but maybe someone here can tell me that it's true?

Quote:Thanks. This is helpful. I can't say it will ever be my thing, but it's nice to have some people give me reasons why it is their thing. I like the fire/fire, don't think, just kill thing!I realize I'm rambling so let me finish by answering the original question: Why Electric Blast? Because it's a heck of a lot of fun. My first 50 was Fire/Fire and the hardest tacticaly decision I usually had to make was to open with Fire Breath-Fire Ball or with Fire Ball-Fire Breath. My Electric Blaster was my third 50 and he's become my main and my favorite ever since. He's not as good at AoE or even ST as my Fire Blaster, but the mitigation of three holds and two drains makes him play almost like a Dominator. If they ever decided to take another look at Elec Blasters, I'd be happy with some buffs, but for now I'm perfectly happy with mine.
