    BS vs. Katana

A whole lot of similarities between these sets. A few Kat attacks have lower activation, recharge, and/or damage. Parry/Divine Avalanche seems the same either way. Is there a big mechanical difference once you're into the 30s+, or is this really just a matter of looks?

I'm just curious: How would you define the spirit of the game?

Also, as I recall, you are not one of the most alt-heavy posters to the forums; could that have some effect on your views of the levelling process?
  3. FWIW, so far I've mostly been using an axe/fire brute, just because HA HA HA THEY ALL FELL DOWN.

... Yes, I think Charlie Chaplin was a comedic genius, why do you ask?
  4. I bought some unslotters a couple of days ago. (Yes, it's irrational. I have a spectacular error rate with mis-slotting things, and I can come up with money, but I get fussy if I waste valuable in-game resources. Like I said, irrational.)

They were 225 each already then. Was the sale started early, or should these just not be in the list of new stuff this week?

For that matter I don't know if people will spend real money on an extra enhancement row to need half as many respecs to strip a character.
Not just for that, but overall, it's been a HUGE QoL increase for me -- I'm not regretting it at all.

Also increases the value of otherwise-worthless level 50 crafted enhancements, because I can now put a LOT of them in my enhancement trays before a respec to sell off for 490k each. Given how many people want interrupt reduction sniper IOs...

    Purple dumping

I'd say I don't think we have nearly enough information about the future behavior of the market because freemium players are gonna be changing All Sorts Of Things.

So your guess is as good as mine.

I haven't seen much to suggest that AE farming is particularly significantly nerfed.

    Might buy a mac!

I am not super happy with Apple's current hardware from a gaming standpoint. I still use Macs for basically everything BUT gaming, though, and if you can't justify the cost of a separate gaming machine, dual-booting or using Crossover Games or whatever can be a reasonable choice.

Yeah, it's not the best price/performance for video games, but not everyone's computer life revolves entirely around video games and GPU speed. For actually getting stuff done, I like having a system with a decent command line and programming tools native to it.
  8. To clarify:

    * There was a mission at 30 to unlock "auras". This gave you the standard auras.
    * The astral merit vendor could also unlock "auras". This gave you the standard auras.
    * The astral merit vendor could also give you special new auras, which were not the standard auras.

The patch notes are saying that the standard auras -- those which can be unlocked either by a mission or by the astral merit vendor -- can now be unlocked in the store. There may be other auras which can be unlocked by the astral merit vendor, which aren't included.

    So:

    * The auras which can be unlocked in the store can also be unlocked at the astral merit vendor.
    * However, not all auras that can be unlocked from the astral merit vendor can be unlocked in the store.
  9. This doesn't get you the Astral Merit auras. It gets you the Generic Auras that you could unlock either by doing a mission at 30 or buying an unlock in game.
  10. So, got bored, did some pummelling. Long story short, thanks to my suddenly larger salvage capacity, was able to dump about 300-400 alchemical silvers on the market.

A few stacks went for 65k, got down to maybe 30ish, then the last couple hundred were all at 75k.

Come on, guys! More help sell silvers!

    Signature arcs?

So, was just hanging around, and suddenly I had a new arc.

So did that go live? ... intentionally?
  12. Last time I tried this, I tried it on a character who had a stealth proc in hover. For 2 minutes after I converted from hover to fly, the flypose animations wouldn't work...

Yeah. They can, they will, and I've never once had the limit reset without them doing it once I hit it, even if I waited a couple of weeks.
  14. I've been married for 17ish years, we don't anticipate breaking up, and we STILL don't try to share game accounts.

No, something that was developed by Transgaming.

Programs which aren't using the Transgaming wrappers are generally decent under OS X. Native programs are fine; it's the dodgy wrapper that makes things exciting. (Well, that, and code that isn't taking the wrapper into account.)

  17. I make a ton of money off procs -- kismet +6% accuracy, force feedback chance for +recharge, positron's blast chance for energy damage, stuff like that. I mean, not a "selling purples in large quantities" ton of money, but enough that I mostly just buy stuff I want.

I think the point was that if something is a plain English word, the existence of a hypothetical thing named that doesn't really weigh in. Dunno whether Paragon works that way, but I'm pretty sure trademark law ususally does.
  19. Yes, this is a joke, but it's a joke that I bet people would pay a few points for.

There should be a power set called Die Horribly. Each power in it is a different death animation. Also when you use it, you die. (Well, "are defeated".)

Rationale: People would take it to show off how awesome one of their other sets is. I suspect it'd be a little TOO much if it were a primary/secondary, but it could be a Pool.

As long as it includes the ghoul death animation, people would pay points to unlock it.
  20. When I try to enter LFG, I get the message "Warning: You can't join one of these events". But I also still seem to enter the queue... But I've not yet seen the queue pop.

Just low population? Working as intended? Error message confusing?

  22. That is one of the weirdest bugs I've ever heard, but you guys get full marks for the engineering group being around to tell you Saturday evening.

  24. $DAYJOB had a server failure recently. Multiple-disk failure of THE central source code repository for my group. All the automated builds started failing.

It was back a day later. I think it may have cost me as much as five minutes of productivity. Obviously, it soaked at least a solid day from someone, probably two or three days total, but we use distributed stuff and our source system is git, so basically we were fine and lost nothing.
  25. Actually, I think this was my fault. Had it happen again... realized I was in the trial queue, which I'd forgotten about because it takes a very long time redside.
