  1. I recently switched to an entirely mac setup, too. Partially cuz I could use CoX on it. However, if the client is going to be abandoned...

I could use BootCamp, but that defeats the purpose of owning a Mac to begin with.
  2. I picked up a new radeon 5770, and after trying a few different games out there's no doubt about it being the newest drivers causing the problems, and not CoH itself.
  3. I run a 240 gt on a quad core with 8gb ram. The settings are not 'maxxed' but it's surely running quite well. That's with ultra mode active at 100% in each of the settings, and default everything else.

I picked the 240 up around christmas for us$100.
  4. Nothing is stopping you from moving to a different server.

Just roll up a character on Justice, that place is always lag free.
  5. Esmerelda would have been great for the demon summoner.

Evocative enough of Bewitched to appeal to those of us who saw the 60's show way too many times, but different enough to avoid copyright issues.
  6. If anything Twixt says is remotely true, it shows how sad the PvP arena is - people only willing to fight eachother under previously agreed upon terms - a gentleman's shake - apprently over react when they can't win.

Thats IF what twixt said is true.
  7. Tiger was built on a hardware platform Apple decided to retire, given that the returns of performance per dollar when compared to an Intel x86/x64 machine are pretty lousy. The PowerPC hardware was just too clunky - sure, it may have had a 2ghz cpu, which would be equivalent to a (ballpark figure) Intel 1ghz cpu.

Since Apple is 'aimed' at professional users of graphics intensive hardware, the change was deemed big enough to keep those users away from Microsoft, and encourage other users to return/adopt.
  8. The problems have started coming back for me, now the stable character I'd been using is now starting to crash.

I don't know who's fault it is (nvidia or paragon), but it's surely enough to make me give the game up after all these years. I didn't spend 3 grand on a beefy pc to play a game that crashes just because the moon is in jupiter when pan jumps over his broomstick on a tuesday.
  9. This is a great way to catch up with all the old text-based MUDs, MOOs and Talkers. They've had socials and emotes that work like this for...decades.
  10. I have tried all the ideas here - removing one of my monitors, removed a video card (SLI), swapped video cards, tried a different card, played with my ram - removed sticks, swapped sticks, different processor, software updates...nothing worked.

Until this week. I stopped playing my robot/dark mastermind and instantly stopped crashing. Was able to play for hours and hours and hours on an SS/INV brute and a seperate acct on the same computer. As soon as I dropped out the brute and switched back to the MM, I got the game crash notification.

Switched back to the brute and all is well. So for now, I just harvested all the infamy and IO's off the MM and gave them to some alts since it seems I can't use my MM anymore.

    Mac Open Beta

Why do we need to wait for a graphic?

    Walk Button.

There was a walk framework whipped up for the release of trenchcoats. The models were shown off pre-launch with the subtext of 'this is a once-only thing'.

    Well...the framework was there once.

The TF is just aggravating. The final AV's are damned near unkillable with a small group, even on heroic. As Caesar would, I'd give this TF a thumbs down. I'd rather hunt for merits for costume parts than do a god damned impossible TF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're hardly unkillable. you just can't go rushing in, guns ablaze. Take out the Essences first, focusing on one at a time. Try to have a Tanker keep Romulus busy while this is done.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We DID go after the nicti first, but could barely make a dent. I know I'm not the only one with the complaint that Romulus is overpowered. I've been eharin it all across Virtue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    SPOILER
I was in a team today with a scrapper, 4 blasters, a mastermind, an emp and my corruptor. Once we established that the nictus need to be separated and defeated, they dropped entirely fast. We went for nictus, nictus (spawner), romulus and nictus (healer). In this pattern, the death of Romulus causes the final nictus to defeat itself (story reason), and then Romulus dies faster than an emp in PVP.

In truth, the Caesar-image of 'thumbs down' actually means the opposite for what it means for us, ie, 'good' or 'let them live'.

Do we really need voice chat in the game? I disable all sounds anyway, and while I won't say that I'm discriminated in my favourite SG for not being in a position to use TeamSpeak already - its pretty obvious I'm unintentionally left out of some fun stuff sometimes because of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's unfortunate to hear... In my SG and Coalition, we try to keep text chat players on as even of a keel as we are. We get them in on our joking around, give out team instructions and use private tells just like anywhere else. We like Ventrilo, we have a lot of OOC chat on it, but we don't require it, and we try not to make chat-only players feel unwelcome because we're on it.

    QFT!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I was saying, I know it's unintentional. I'm in an SG with easily 12+ active people in TS, so if one of them wants to do something like a TF or Trial it's broadcast over TS first and typically full before the message even gets to text.

The SG rocks though, the Bay Area members (of which I am) meet up fairly often for movies and restaurantage.

I was a player of AutoAssault, though, and there was kinda often 'you have to voicechat before we let you in our guild. specially if you are girl'. That was definitely uncool.

  17. Maybe some lazy sod can convert this to a Google Calendar for easy maintenance/integration with a real calendar?
  18. Another bay area meet&greet? I'm there already!
  19. CoX is a controlled universe. Owners need to keep a tight reign on the content or else people will try to sue over copyright issues, and who knows what else.

"I made that horse with the purple legs and you copied me, you suck. Sued!"

It also keeps the universe uniformly similar, and back stories can be woven in to add comic book stories, and new novels.
  20. Anything that players assume "requires" shivans needs to be revamped.

Shivans are nice, but should not be necessary for success.
  21. Weather in zones sucks balls. Its been tried in MUDs since the dawn of time, and not once has it added a solid aspect to the game. Everyone pushes for 'cold/heat damages you!' or 'being in winter makes you catch a cold', and then you have to add in stupid features like umbrellas. Then someone points out your Steel Platemail gets rusty in the rain so that gets coded, but then everyone complains about how tedious it is to do an armour change just because it gets wet. So a mage demands to know how to rustproof armour, and then everyone has rustproof armour. And that cancels another reason for having weather.

Been mudding since '95, apart from fancy graphics theres no new ideas in the mmporg field.
  22. Can this be used to entice old friends to return to their old account?
