Ideally, any majorly intensive game you run SHOULD disable these features, they've been there since Vista. Unless you're running a massively powerful card (GTX460 and up) with CoH, I wouldn't even consider it, and if you're using most of ultra mode, I still wouldn't. It's actually to your benifit for those to be disabled while gaming. Even moreso if you run Windowed, as that's even harder on the system.
Yes, you're correct, CoH wasn't written to deal with that new stuff, it pretty much would take a full graphics re-write for that to happen, and likely never will (you're far more likely to see that in CoH2, if it was made). -
Okay so I've upgraded from XP to Windows 7 recently (complete wipe and install) and now everytime I play CoH it changes to a compatibility mode that basically changes my graphics on the computer from Aero to basic mode.
Its not really a big deal, it doesn't stop gameplay or anything, but it's kind of annoying considering that when I play on my laptop with vista, and a significantly lower end graphics card, it doesn't need to change for compatibility.
I would really just like for my graphics to NOT change to basic, so I could get any help, thanks. -

hmm I've found that I only lag on max settings (after some tweaking) in the D and missions, guess I should just turn it off in either of those

Okay I am lagging on this computer when I have NEVER lagged before, when i17 came out... maybe it's just a settings thing however. I've seen things fixed for ATI cards on the forums but none for Nvidia. Let's see...

I think my computer should be able to handle ultra mode, but when I turn it on it lags like my duocore lappy used to do when I tried to play on high settings. When I turn OFF ultramode I still get a little lag and Graphics in general have definitely dropped from before... everything actually looks worse/less smooth. What I am doing wrong here?
Note: I used to play with the graphics settings for quality written in the Nvidia thread in this forum, I never changed those -

go into the game options and try taking the slider down to performance (I'm betting it's on "recommended").
Also, depending on how you installed Vista, you'll want to make sure that it's updated to Service Pack 2. Just keep running Windows Update till it gets to Service Pack 2.

Well I did as told got the new driver and it's better, nothing drastic, but I can play the game well atleast, (where as before I couldn't even get debuffs on mobs/AVs quick enough with my rad). However I dunno if there is anything else I could do? IF so let me know...

OEM's are the guys who actually build the computer you are using.

OpenGL is the industry standard for 3D Acceleration: www.opengl.org
Many OEM's, such as Asus and Acer, use a variation of the AMD driver for graphics cards that strips out or removes OpenGL support. Why? I really don't know. It's just annoying. -
Also one other thing... i'm running vista i see that driver says xp... will it work anyways?

First, you'll need to get proper drivers. Most OEM vendors tend to use drivers with crippled or no OpenGL support so you'll be stuck with software rendering, hence the lag.
The 1250 is an integrated chip from the... I want to say R400 series. It was discontinued by AMD several months back.
So, you'll need to grab the Catalyst 9.3.1 set here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...?&lang=English
Or the Catalyst 9.8 set here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...?&lang=English
I'd say stick with the 9.3.1 bug fix.
Then, you'll need to drop by Driverheaven.net and pick up the Mobility Modder tool : http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
Follow the instructions for the Mobility modder and that should give you AMD drivers with OpenGL acceleration.
Considering this goes fast, I'll let you know soon how it worked... and that's some amazing vid card knowledge you have there :P -
Hey guys I have an Acer 4420 lappy about 2 years old...
AMD Athlon duo core... 2 gigs of Ram, ATI radeon 1250 Video card... I just redid my comp and updated my drivers with those on the us.acer.com website...
I used to play on my laptop all the time... but now it seems I'm getting excessive video lag, I remember having some before but I think this is ridiculous... just turning around makes it block frame... any tips on reducing the lag anyone? -

Well I think I whipped up a pretty decent Fire/Fire build, not it's not a tank nor even meant to be. A quick break down on some things. This is the first time I've tried this but one of the corner stones of this build is the use of darkest night in conjunction with the DEF added, plus the basics of res, and decent recharge for that heal. Let me know what you guys think and/or any ideas you may have.

Get tough, Change all the Aegis sets to 4 slotted atleast impervium armors, if you do 5 make the last slot end red
