Quote:Siphon Life slotted for damage would need to be activated and hit 4 times for it to heal as much as Aid Self used just once (Which is slotted for heal). In the attack chain of Smite-Midnight Grasp-Smite-Siphon Life-repeat, it would take about 20-26 seconds for SL to achieve the heal AS would. Also there is probably an equal chance for SL to miss than for AS to be interrupted unless the AV has a damage aura.I would not use Aid Self when pairing DM with SR, Siphon Life should be plenty of healing without destroying your damage output. It'll cost more end to fire off Siphon Life twice, but it will heal almost the same amount in the same time due to faster recharge and cast time and do so with no risk of being interrupted or loss of dps.
I do see your point and I would lean towards dropping AS if Siphon Life is slotted with 6 HamiOs (3 acc/dam, 3 end/heal) or frankenslotting IOs that can give similar numbers in regards to damage output/heal. With the 6 HamiOs, SL can heal as well as AS with 2 hits rather than 4, approximately 7-13 seconds. -
I thought Slaunyeh was making a Spines/Regen but just holding out until his power supply is fixed. I don't think it really matters what we roll now. We have more people that expressed interest than we do primaries/secondaries. Maybe we should just go with any primary/secondary combo that does not currently exist.
I think it would be better to have more people onboard to try to get 8 players on a team. Due to everyone's schedules, unforeseeable mishaps, time zones etc, it's tough to get a core 8 players online at the same time and play the same hours. If we have over 8 people online, we can split into 2 teams or form a league and street sweep/zone events.
Regeneration stalkers have it rough, with lower hit points comes lower regen. I still think it would work out but would be a little more "clicky" than a regen Brute/Scrapper.
I believe we're still scheduled to meet up tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:00pm PST/9:00pm EST for about an hour. Join the Stalkerlicious channel to find everyone easily. See you all there! -
Wednesday evening will be fine, I might be a little late if traffic is bad. And I like the idea of going vig/rogue.
-
It was good. Felt odd being in Praetoria. If we were on blueside, I know exactly where to go and what to do to gain some quick levels. I even asked if we could do the Sewer Trial while on goldside... Someone laughed at my ignorance. Haha!
We should all try to get together and make a hard push to lvl 20 so that nobody gets left behind when we decide our destination. -
I can't open the link, post the data chunk. From what I can see, Heavy Blow/Rib Cracker were not chosen. Heavy Blow has a higher DPS than Initial Strike and is usually preferred for that reason. Rib Cracker has a damage resist debuff on your target and can be useful for dishing out more pain.
You have 3 Finishers (Sweeping Cross, Spinning Strike and Crushing Uppercut) but only 2 Combo Builders (Initial Strike and Shin Breaker). Try to get enough Combo Builders to make a seamless chain and use a Finisher every time you reach Combo Level 3.
Looks like melee defense is under the softcap but I might be wrong. Active Defense is aggressively slotted for DDR. Grant Cover adds DDR also so it might be worth picking up.
Post the data chunk if you can. It will make it a lot easier. -
You built your defense up pretty high but 46.5% in M/R/A is good enough as you would be softcap to regular content and one small purple inspiration away from the incarnate softcap of 59%.
Add Aid Self from the Medicine power pool. SR is perfect for softcapping def but damage resist, hit points, regen are average/low/non-existent. Having a self heal power will raise your survivability by leaps and bounds. Being an SR often negates Aid Self's interrupt problem but add an Interrupt Reduction IO just in case.
I would try to build for recharge and get Hasten and Soul Drain as close to perma as possible. It's easy to do by just taking the Spiritual Alpha but try to achieve it through IO bonuses, Hasten and Quickness. If you can do it this way, you can pick up Musculature instead.
If I made one, my first try would look something like this:
Code:Can easily make Hasten perma by using enhancement boosters and bumping the IO's up to level 50+2. Ninja Run/Sprint for travel power but would need to be toggled off while fighting for endurance to last. Decided against Shadow Maul. It does good damage but since it's not part of the top attack chain (Smite-Midnight Grasp-Smite-Siphon Life-repeat) and the longer animation can kill an SR, it got axed.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1530;694;1388;HEX;| |78DA65944B4F1A5114C7EFC04504515154A4823C7CA02023A86DD2DAC7A25413032| |D4ADB5D4346B8EA44A28447AACB7E806EDAA6FD027D6EFA79BAEFA69B3E765DD233| |73FE45122690DF9DFFFD9F73E7DC73678A1779DFD7DD17F7843676BF6EB45A9572B| |569341AAAE92A1AC7665558979BFEA1FF7AA5A8EA4AE979A379CAC3686F26AF8ED4| |594BE9E58E7577A08EEAEA42B584B7747E5ED7CB0DA56AA3F670C73C3E699B67C7E| |3F65D411935D56C9D980D9E2DAA9A5935CF54F041C3ACEAE5B6513FB556ED548A46| |ABAD9A97B3F43419FA37DD0257D725961D42E4A4984A823F881129E2AB7CBF90622| |EA699452B56B3631D62C7696BBE5DE6E41EF32179347834781CF038E079441E273C| |CE611A24A5901E705AB33D09F2B8D8A3B9D2C2D686C08E9B77D7AAC18D671E3604F| |3903DDE2A5863FA14B344811E8E159E386B1A6923D046BA74092729A3BCBA737446| |B3338F05C11C2ADE60EE93771CD58CA31A3FAAF1A39AE7E499B0B7AEAB4DBCE4DDB| |CF69A794073018E17810C3F91246D1A39A7FD9C63660A44CE09F204E1094A5E6FD6| |0DC273419E10AF2B4337B1EE2DE6FC36781BBCC32C53CC1CF2CEA19E30EA09236F8| |43C11EC58C4DEB14B52A2E849143D89A12731F424869EC4D193387AF29862135831| |8133B38033B380331325CF12F22F85595B8E80F36094998C81739CFF3BDDAE70AC5| |C59E32A5775701DCC325339E65F9F1069C4A437585BDB04B7C0EBCCCC0D66809E51| |E73A5CFA7BD6D63F801FC14FCCDC67F00B739262B33805599CCB9FDEDEBB24349C8| |CDF579A4BBBCB2772688FBB93DA67669E7097324F99B938EFC7AFFE7C2B9CEFCF95| |26B55778DF713217DF30936FB137EF9861D9FB86D0CFEA7E54F6BE0CDDD4C06C764| |0C90D289B03CAD68052E857B609D2294A120B5B35D92E8F9FBE2EAC744B5EEB8DE3| |F1B3BEB1D1373EEC1B5F5D8500950AF55BDFF81F26DAEC94| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
T4 Musculature Radial, Reactive Radial, Cimeroran Core. Judgement and Destiny are a toss up to what you prefer. The Destiny power pick would change the build ie if Rebirth Radial is chosen, the Medicine Pool can be dropped; Ageless Radial, can build for less recharge/endurance and just go for more damage.
Hope this helps. -
Quote:Looks like there's a spot as CrazyJerseyan dropped out. As for remaining powers:Is there room on this team and is it going on exhaulted for sure?Have always wanted to level a stalker and this would be a fun way to learn the archtype.
Primaries: Broad Sword, Claws, Dark Melee and Ninja Blade
Secondary: Ice Armor.
Current roster:
Zeh_Masteh - Eye Blink - MA/EA
Errant - Degenerate - ElM/DA
Slaunyeh - ? - Spines/Self-Empathy
tyxavier - Fox Hound - KM/ElA
_Anubite_ - Starblight - EM/Will
ricodah - Fullthrottle - StJ/SR
IamVT - Jeff - DB/Nin
At least 6 of us have already made our characters in Praetoria on Exalted. Slaunyeh also created a stalker channel: Stalkerlicious -
Sounds good. Meet everyone in front of Praetor Duncan (Dominatrix) at 1pm PST. My character's name is Fullthrottle.
-
I have been on the forums more than in game as of late, you have a better chance to find me here than there. Just send me a private msg.
Are we all free tomorrow, Sunday, November 6th at 10:00am PST (1:00pm EST). I will be free for 4 hours. Weekday evenings (Mon-Wed, sometimes Thurs) after 4:30pm PST works well for me. Saturday afternoons are doable but I just need a little notice beforehand. I am usually logged into the forums all day, everyday but often not in front of my PC. Fire me a msg about play schedule and I'll respond as soon as I can. -
That's great, thanks. I'm easy for play schedule, just gimme a days notice. Or if we have a set day/time, I'll work my schedule around that in future.
I made a StJ/SR stalker sitting in Praetoria on Exalted. I even made my future build on Mids. I'm ready whenever you all are. -
I would like to join. a StJ/SR looks available. I'll roll one of those if there's still space. What's a Self-Empathy?
-
I have a bunch of MMs and the ones I leveled to 50 are the ones I enjoyed playing the most.
Bots/Traps lvl 50
Thugs/Dark lvl 50
Demon/TA lvl 42
Necro/Therm lvl 25
Merc/Pain lvl 50
Ninja/Therm lvl 36
Bots/Storm lvl 27
Thugs/Time lvl 50
Since I can only choose one, it would be Thugs/Time. It's my most recent, really fun to play. My only MM that can make it through Lambda's lab/warehouse with some or all pets alive from start to finish (Among the 50s, haven't tried with Thugs/Dark). I sometimes participate in Rikti Mothership Raids without joining a team/league and can rack up 600+ v-merits solo (Mercs net me 700+ solo, haven't tried Bots).
Between Maneuvers (x3), IO aura procs and Power Boosted Farsight, pets have softcap defense to all type/positions when near by. Pets are incarnate softcap to enemies affected by Time's Juncture. Get a good recharge on Temporal Selection and cycle a nice damage buff between 3-4 pets. Time Crawl/Slowed Response for EB/GM/AVs, Time Stop for bosses and Distortion Field for everything else makes fights go pretty smooth.
I remember my Thugs/Dark was really strong with all it's debuffs but it's still built on SO's and I never got around upgrading him. But I imagine /Dark to have similar or even better results than /Time. Does Black Hole make crates/containers in a Lambda intangible too? If not, it would be really useful during that phase of the trial. -
Just slotting Dark Regeneration with IOs and a Theft of Essence proc often makes it an end-free power to use. ToE procs are available by the time you pick DR at level 16, Miracle/Performance Shifter at 17 and Numina at 27. DR having a base cost of 33 end is manageable.
For DA, end reduction is key at the lower levels but after IOing, it becomes easier. Decide to go Cardiac Core (I haven't tried Ageless) at 50 and you can throw end reduction IOs out the window and just build for acc/dam/rech/mez/procs.
Dark Armor and Dark Regeneration is fine the way they are. -
Don't give up Power Boost for Burnout, drop Combat Jump instead. Farsight after being boosted by PB provides 6% more to all defense to you, pets and teammates which is more than CJ can ever do.
Try frankenslotting your pets with hamios and bonus damage procs. -
Recommendations:
- Add the Edict of the Master, Sovereign Right and Call to Arms aura procs into the build for some nice pet buffs when they are near you.
- Slot Slow Response with accuracy, recharge and an Achilles Heel proc. At level 50, with all the IO builds and team tohit buffs, nobody really seems to have a problem hitting. Just adding the base -15% def debuff is enough. The main element of the power you want is the damage resist debuff. Acc to ensure it hits; recharge so that it overlaps by a few seconds. The Achilles Heel is just to have more of a good thing if you get a successful roll.
- Slot Chrono Shift with a heal IO set. It does not look like you or your pets will have any endurance problems. Time Manipulation does not really have any high end cost powers that needs to be spammed constantly.
- Slot Swift, Hurdle and Rest with normal IOs. They're inherent powers and cost no endurance to use.
- Slot Temporal Selection with recharge to give as many pets as you can the +18.75% damage buff. It lasts for 2 mins so if you can get the recharge down to 40 seconds, you can cycle it between 3 pets, Bruiser-Enforcer1-Enforcer2-repeat. Even better, a 30 second recharge, Bruiser-Enforcer1-Enforcer2-Arsonist-repeat.
Other notes:
I would give up Mace Beam Volley, Combat Jump and Provoke before Hasten, Assault and Tactics.
Power Boost only boosts toggles and powers cast after PB has been activated. So it does not help Farsight unless PB is cast right before hand. -
I just wanted to add that Sovereign Right and Expedient Reinforcement resist damage procs also stack for your pets.
-
I think your build looks good. A few changes I made and reasons as to why:
- Combat Jump as you were above the rule of 5 for 10% regeneration.
- Combat Readiness to give you softcap S/L without the use of Energy Drain.
- Fire Blast for more hp/regen.
- Energy Protection to free up a slot in Dampening Field.
- Energy Drain, removed defense IOs as it only provides 1% def more if you hit 10 targets.
- Spinning Strike removed acc SO and dam/range posi blast. Added 2 damage procs
- Rib Cracker/Shin Breaker, swapped the IO sets to add an Achilles Heel proc while maintaining defense.
The 3 slots taken from Dampening Field and Energy Drain were added to Kinetic Shield, Power Shield and Energy Cloak to improve tohit/acc. With the changes, attacks will have a 95% chance to hit vs +3 enemies instead of just +1. This doesn't include enemies with defense buffs or if you are -tohit debuff.

Just factor in what you feel you need. You have been playing your character for awhile now and have a good idea what is and isn't working for you. If endurance is an issue, grab the ToE proc as most times it will make the high end cost of Dark Regeneration free to use (Will still need enough end to activate the power). Combine it with a couple other ToE IOs and it will bump up your max endurance by 1.8 (Pretty miniscule but it's something).
If you are not having end problems, grab the Shield Wall proc. It doesn't seem like much but the fact that it provides a constant 3% damage resist just for slotting it without needing to be toggled, clicked, no end drain, no cast times makes it awesome imho. Combine with a few other Shield Wall IOs for some decent set bonuses.
I wouldn't bother adding the slot to Dark Consumption. The difference between having and not having an end IO in DC is one extra hit, 3 vs 4 targets to max your endurance. It can make a difference if fighting a lone GM/AV, 25% vs 34% end gain. A Panacea proc in Health may work out better than an end IO in DC. -
I would skip Thunder Kick (Does around half the DPS Storm Kick does) and Crane Kick (The knockback effect can be bothersome). If you do want Crane Kick for concept and looks, just slot it with 2 acc/dam HamiOs and a dam/end IO... Or all KB IOs. Pretty funny seeing Hellions flying across Atlas from time to time.
Quote:Is that DPS including EC's increased chance to land a critical? If not, EC-CAK-CS-SK could be better than the SK-CAK-SK-CS attack chain. That said, EC -> CAK -> CS -> SK has relatively low recharge requirements and is only 5 DPS behind the top chain.
I saw your Rikti Pylon thread post awhile ago and 68 seconds is amazing even if Lore pets were used. I could not crack 100 seconds using SK-CAK-SK-CS and T4 Warworks Core. The attack chain could have been a contributing factor along with Cimeroran Lore pets. -
Put a Kismet proc in Phalanx Fighting and an end redux IO in Grant Cover, put the LotG procs in Weave and Maneuvers for the extra hit point bonus.
I would consider building up damage resist and hit points/regen by slotting up Deflection and True Grit. The only way I can see that being done is if a power is sacrificed. Having 3 finishers is a little much, chances are one of them will rarely ever be used. Crushing Uppercut is a must have. Sweeping Cross vs Spinning Strike. SC: horrible cone, disorient, takes better IO set (PBAoE). SS: end heavy, knockdown, awesome looking 360 spin attack. But then again, you're already softcap, good DDR, some damage resist, a heal. Building for more dam res/hp/regen probably isn't needed.
The next update, Media Blitz, has a new Alpha that might work well with your build:
Agility Boost: This alpha tree focuses on boosting Endurance Modification, and secondarily boosts Defense and Recharge rate. The radial branch also boosts run speed, fly speed, and jump distance.
That info can be found here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=275742
Here's a StJ/SR scrapper build I was thinking about starting. It's expensive and haven't made it because I have an StJ/WP and a DB/SR scrapper already. I like to try to play a new primary and secondary with every character I make now. TW/EA is next:

A couple things I wanted to point out:
- You are softcap'd when stealthed but around 42.5ish% in M/R/A when Stealth becomes unsuppressed. So as soon as you attack or seen by enemies, your defense will go down.
- Phalanx Fighting adds 3.75% def to all positions for every teammate within it's radius, up to 3 teammates with you counting as one. So even if you solo, you will get 3.75% additional defense. IOs do not increase the percentage and most players slot it with an LotG, Kismet or Shield Wall proc. I would drop Tactics and slot the Gaussian IO set into Combat Readiness. That gives you the extra power pick for PF.
- Force Feedback proc in Shield Charge doesn't do much. I'll try to explain it but I won't be offended if you go, "huh?" Shield Charge (And Lightning Rod) doesn't actually do any damage. What they do is teleport you to your location. From there, it summons an unseen pet that does the PBAoE damage for you. If any of the multiple FF proc rolls successfully, the 100% recharge bonus goes to the unseen pet and not you. You only get one roll from the proc to yourself for activating the power. Maybe someone else can explain it better than I can. -
That's awesome, Orbitus. Great work, thanks for taking the time to make and share that with us.
I was pretty hyped about StJ because of a post saying it could be the top DPS primary for scrappers. I'm glad it's comparable and that it's not blowing other primaries out of the water. Some of the original 6 are still my favorites. MA, DM, Kat and Spines (Haven't played Claws or BS yet) still hold their own to the new and proliferated... Ok, maybe Spines not as much but it's still a fun concept.
I'm hoping with this in-depth comparison, we won't see the "MA/SR build suggestion" thread with replies saying "Make a StJ/Shield instead." -
When I want to get to 50 quickly, I just do blueside TFs/Trials as often as possible. Below are the ones I form or jump at while leveling (I avoid the Shadow Shard TFs).
Lvl 1-10 - Sewer Trial: Death From Below
Lvl 10-15 - Positron TF part 1 and 2
Lvl 15-20 - Synapse TF
Lvl 20-25 - Sister Psych, Moonfire and Sutter TFs
Lvl 25-30 - Citadel and Hess TFs, Respec Trial (24-33)
Lvl 30-35 - Manticore, Katie Hannon and Lazarus TFs,
Lvl 35-45 - Numina and Imperious TFs, Eden Trial (39-41), Respec Trial (34-43)
Lvl 45-50 - Imperious, Kahn, Statesman and Lady Grey TFs, Respec Trial (44+)
Do radio/alignment/AE/ouros missions between TFs to bump up to the next level.
A lot of players like to do speed runs because they just want a badge/accolade. That doesn't help you much as you need the xp. Try forming the team yourself and recruit players around your level as they would want the xp too.
With the exception of the Sewer Trial and Positron, I run most of the TFs at +1 or +2 depending on the makeup of the team. Some at +3 depending on the TF and if most of the players are the same level. +4 if all the players are fully IO'd or lvl shifted/incarnates. -
Quote:Don't need a stopwatch or anything. It says how long it took to complete it at the very end when you choose your reward.I've done it in under ten minutes with a few my toons. I'm not going to bother timing it, it's nothing special.
7mins 13secs. Just ran and killed what I needed to, still had decent defense even after exemped so grabbing the glowies was no problem. -
What kind of enemies are you fighting? Shield is strong against S/L but weaker against other types of damage. Make sure you are only targeting bosses with your single target attacks and let Thunderstrike, Lightning Rod, Shield Charge and Fire Ball deal with the rest. The hardest part to farming is if you have nothing but aggro'd bosses leftover as they have bonus to hit and higher damage.
Get the Destiny T4 Rebirth Radial and you will be laughing.
Does your character look like Ronald Mcdonald?
