  1. What have we Australians done to you guys???? Shutdown is now Friday night at 9:00 pm. And heaven help us on the weeks there are multiple shutdowns. We basically can't play at all.

    It was bad enough when we were getting kicked off at 11:00pm but this is rediculous. Couldn't you guys have a rolling schedule so that the load is spread out across time zones rather than everyone in this one frequently seeing that damn red paragraph just as we are getting started. If not how about we at least get a discount to our subs to make up for the fact our peak playing time the game is unavailable.

    Oh and before someone pipes up with "but it's only really one night" remember that Friday night is about the only night everyone with families can all get on at the same time.

    I preordered the game and got my box several days ago, along with my preselection serial number. The only issue is the damn thing won't start. It looked like a couple of small updates went through then as the game tries to start I get an error saying it cant reach the patch server. Very frustrating. I've put a message through to support hoping its just a simple fix. I'm dying to give it a go.
  3. Heres one for you.. I hate the fact that yet again myself and my friends are sitting twiddling our thumbs (not really but you get the idea) while yet another maintenance is running during our peak playing period. Normally Friday night shutdown hits at 11:00 pm but tonight they brought it back to 9:00 pm.

    I know it sounds petty but man it gets frustrating when the game you enjoy most keeps shutting down during the only times you can play.

    We have talked about this due to the larger Aussie population on Justice. I did create a character there however to be honest I was having no more luck finding a team there than on Infinity. That could have been just bad timing of course. We probably also need to find someone in one of the Aussie SG's which will help I imagine.
  5. It stores which threads you have read inside the forums database. If it is getting it wrong then there must be some issues with db access that is causing it to occasionally fail.
  6. Hello all... @Kerchak here. I play on Infinity where I often can be found playing with both a friend whose toons all start with Silk and my son.

    The three of us all live in Canberra and have been toying with the idea of switching servers due to a serious drop in players we can team with on Infinity. Well for proper missions anyway.
  7. I personally believe that the developers have taken far too long to do this but I fully support it. I know a fair few people are going to complain bitterly about this but I can tell you developers now that virtually everyone in my friends list is going to be very heartened by this move.

    And I'll tell you guys at NCSoft something else for nothing. After issues 14 and 15 I was starting to feel very negative about you. That you no longer had any pride in either the game or your long term userbase. We'll I'll happily admit now that I was wrong. This move and all the great items coming in i16 show that you do. And while i do still think you need a kick up the butt where it comes to you communicating your intentions to us all in all I'm feeling all warm and glowey towards you .. and I look forward to spreading the good news.

    I was planning on taking from the fire ancillary but I'm not locked into it. As it's my second firekin I'm open to trying new things. I'll have a look at those rock sets. Thanks.
  9. My fire/fire scrapper was created to be my solo only character and she had few issues making to 50 on her own. I included tough and weave in the build and with her reasonably priced sets she can work her way easily through most mobs. This AT has decent single target and aoe damage.

    The only real issue these guys have is heavy endurance needs. Until you can pick up consume you will have to pause between mobs however once you do get it and slot it you can pretty much fight constantly.

    For the ancillary I will be taking fireshield (along with combat jump) so I will give your advice a try.
  12. First a bit of background. I'm at level 30 with my second firekin and I am tossing up between tough/weave or assalt/tactics for him. My first one has assalt/tactics which seems to be working well but I'm wondering if once you add Fulcrum shift to the mix this is overkill and I would be better of boosting my defenses instead.

    I have noticed that a lot of the guides on this forum seem to contain tough and weave and I'm now wondering if my initial thought that the boost to the trollers slight base defenses too low to be worth the two power slots.

    I should also mention that this guy has a stoney as a permanent travelling partner so I'm still leaning towards boosting damage rather than defenses but I thought I would check with some of the resident number crunchers to see if I was on the right track.

    Any opinions?

    Seconded. I've taken one of these to 50 (properly, not in AE) and he was a blast to play. Able to dish out a great deal of damage as well as able to handle himself if a couple of baddies broke off and came in for some hand to hand.
  14. You guys do realise that flipping only works if one or two people are doing it right? Now that every man and their dog is doing it any profit you make is lost in the increased price of every damn other bit of salvage you have to buy to make your recipes.

    Yes I was saying just that exact thing to my sg buddies yesterday when one of them commented that there wasn't as many people playing as he expected. I mean if people can lvl at 10 times the normal speed in the AE why on earth would they be excited by a weekend of 2x.

    That being said it is a great weekend for people interested in normal teaming. We've had a great time so far. Although I must admit to being a little surprised at how laggy the server has been considering the numbers weren't THAT much higher and the server (Infinity) never showed more than a light load.
  16. I'm loving what I'm seeing so far... I think any of my 50's that I don't play anymore should start worrying as I may need to free some more slots.

    I'm also looking forward to when the devs have time to do the same to the power pools. I desperately want to be able to do something about Hasten. It will be nice to make that oft chosen power fit into a character design for once.

    Thanks guys... I have to admit I was getting a little disillusioned with this game of late due to the AE farming but this has really reignited my passion for the game.

    Mind you issue 16 is also going to play havoc with my altitis

    That's also probably true however at the same time they are also happy to take our money so I wouldn't mind at least a little consideration by them of our plight. If it turns out to be totally impractical to change the day no problems however it would be nice to know it was even considered.
  18. Yes it would. I totally understand that shifting the time just screws someone else instead of us. Which is why I was focusing on shifting days. It means us Aussies still take the hit just on a less disruptive day.

    Oh and just as an aside remember that whenever there is a server shutdown it is always during our prime playing time so please have a little sympathy for us. For example this week the server is shutting down on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights during our favourite playing times. Would it be so much to ask that the shutdown times be staggered so that it's not always us?
  19. I guess this begs the question what exactly are they doing during the shutdown. I wouldn't have thought an extra days running between shutdowns would affect the stability of the server however if that is the case then it would help to know to take the sting out of the interuption.

    If shifting it to Thursday is out of the question I could live with them holding it off for three or so hours to give us a longer period to play but I guess that would run the risk of them now ticking off more US players whom I imagine outnumber us in this zone.
  20. Can I please very humbly ask the developers to shift their weekly Friday shutdown to Thursday? Why? Because here on the other side of the planet to you guys this is causing us significant disruption.

    Here in Australia, New Zealand and several other countries this weekly shutdown occurs anywhere from 10 pm to 1 pm on a Friday night. Now as Friday night is "the" night to play for a lot of us this is incredibly disruptive. For a lot of us older players Friday night is the only real night we get to play late into the evening as Saturday evening most of us are doing things with the family. And of course we can't play late on Sunday as we have work in the morning.

    Not to mention the fact that it is hard to do any task forces as there is often the problem of the server shutting down before it finishes and more often than not half the team members wont be back to finish the TF once the servers come back up.

    Now I appreciate it is very hard to keep everyone around the different timezones happy but I would suspect most would rather have a free run on Fridays rather than thursdays.

  21. I have a level 50 electric/electric and I found him anything but bad. He could two shot same level minions and had enough aoe's to take a decent chunk out of any group we were fighting.

    I started adding medium priced sets to him once he hit 37 and at no point did I feel weak for the entire journey to 50.

    Plus I should add you can have great fun with an electic blasters nova called Thunderous Blast. Let a tank herd a couple of groups together, trigger your build ups then let loose with the blast and you do awsome damage. For those that are left pop a blue .. run in close and use consume to replenish your end. Then use your remaining blasts to clear up the survivors.

    It heartily recommend this AT.

  23. Okay here's a question for all you expert Controllers out there. On the weekend 8 of us tried an all Controllers Statesman Taskforce. Now the makeup was something like 3 - 4 firekins, two rads (plant + illusion) and we were ripping right through the task force. Now we came to the last mission and had no real problem with three of the four AV's. We even managed to take on and defeat two of them at once... However.. once we came to take on Ghost Widow the story changed. We initially swamped her with pets and of course all stood close to take advantage of the heals and transference etc. We quickly realised that was a mistake as she kept healing off us so we killed off the pets moved back as far as we could and kept attacking. We could get her down to near half health but each time she would just quickly heal herself back to full.

    We also brought her back to the ship to see if the extra firepower of the Longbow and the turrets would make a difference. To no avail. The turrents barely fired.

    After what seemed like hours of trying we ended up giving up the ghost and bailed.

    Has anyone successfully defeated Ghost Widow with an all Controllers team? Or is there some trick that we missed? (and yes I have tried searching first).
