modestly on topic: well i disagree, the writing of the new content is really heads above whats currently out there, some of the new costumes are great, and i love the side switching dynamic, as well as the morality reinforcing dynamic. but until the op gets more into detail, cant really see what he wanted to change, an what realistically could have been done. mentioning other games is a no-no now.
for the drastically more interesting diversion. running my first new mm, she is a demon/poison, so she is more melee oriented. not at steamrolling power yet, but not bad, i learned not to make a short demon mm though, ember demon's butts should not be eye level, just saying. -
my main complaint with bob is that i think he undersells the psp. It isnt going to overtake the ds, but looking at its strength on the Japanese sales charts, it consistently is within the top 3 individual skus, and often is on the top. Now ds has multiple skus, so it wins consistently, but it REALLY is stretching to say it "just failed less" it is competing against an unbeatable foe, but it sold like mad in japan(lets all ignore the psp go, everyone else has). That said, i dont really have issue with his comments, sony did a lot of things right, but as a new entry in the market, It is doubtful that it would have secured the third party support if they felt that the larger, more established entities had a chance, sega smashed themselves against the wall, and nintendo suffered against yamauchi's stubbornness. heck, when nintendo lost square, i think we all knew that japan was lost for them.

Interesting to me... there are less words for hate ^.^
1. you have been "just a friend"ed, get some ice cream and commence crying...err..i mean drink alcaholic beverages in a manly manner and punch things.
2. possibilities, but you will screw it up.
3. childish terminology, either indicates playfulness or innocent friend seeking, you will screw it up.
4. definite friend zone, indicates heightened playfulness but will go nowhere
5.possible real emotional attachment, you will screw it up
6. the person is a song from jet grind radio future, you will miss the next trick in the combo and screw it up.
7. absolute certainty of a good sign...you will screw it up.
EDIT:If you dont get joke number 6, its this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4aY8...eature=related
thought this might touch on hendrick and hendricks classifications, eros, storge, ludus, mania, pragma, and agape. and i was shamed by another classmate by not noticing that the first letters can be used to spell "slap me" -
this stinks, i was going to see it today, and all the local theaters have already dropped it.

dark dark scrapper or dark dark defender are possibilities, if you want to mix it up, you could go with an expanded definition of "scythe" and make him a broadsword scrapper with a kopesh model.

I just don't like when u post something for certain people and the unrelated ones are wasting their time to post on a thread they dont belong too and say they hate it lol. that's stupid tbh
besides, i was just having some fun, no need for the rage. I wonder if i'm one of ninja's serious people, between bobob, flcl, excel saga/puni puni puemi, elf princess rane and dragon half being among my favorites, it seems unlikely. -
Eh, some people like dailies, plus you are not forced to ru them, if you enjoy them (im loving the writing thus far) then they are added content. Coh doesn't have a lot of different tiers of rewards, so if you are doing them just for rewards, there are more efficient ways, no "must do" to keep up with a power curve, just an additional option for getting good recipes, some rp refining, and content, we always go on about wanting more content, right?

notes that on this topic, this is the only time that an affected party would be checking their watch, saying "one minute" and it would be a good thing. whether it would be a personal milestone or not i will leave specifically unanswered.

with a burning passion that would incinerate the very internet in its wake were i to go into detail. prior to seeing one piece, i assumed that dbz was the worst anime ever made, i was humbled. as a consolation, they both are better than betterman at least.

it seems like some work with either official or unofficial deputization, that is how i always understood batman and commissioner gordon's relationship to work.

Current Tournament Rules (the SEVERELY Abridged version):
* Each Server shall contain within it a single "team" of competitors all geared towards either a hero or villain alignment.
* Each team shall start with only two members... a team Captain and a Traderbot. The Captain shall actually play the game while the Traderbot is there solely for the purpose of playing the market and bankrolling the team.
* A new member shall be created to join the team when the last joining member of that team reaches 40th level.
* No Training, Dual or Single Origin IOs shall ever be slotted; Invention Origin ONLY.
* No Set Enhancements are allowed to be slotted prior to the character reaching 27th level. No Set enhancement lower than level 30 shall be slotted.
* Prior to creating the character in-game a spreadsheet shall be made plotting the exact Power and Slot allocation from 1st to 50th level. This plan shall be adhered to rigidly.
* A Reputation score shall be maintained for the character. This score is based on a mathematical equation using Badges earned (each badge has a different Rep value all kept on a separate spreadsheet), Number of Successful Missions run, Influence earned (earned inf only, that made via the market or sale of loot does not count), penalties for times defeated, and how long the character has been around. Also there is a bonus to Reputation based on how high a level the character got to before they had their first ever defeat.
* A Power score shall also be maintained for the character. Power = Temp powers/accolades/set powers + badge power values (spreadsheeted) + Level + slotted enhancements in powers + reward merits earned/spent + penalty for defeats. There is a bonus applied to power according to what the character's current difficulty settings are.
* A Teamwork score is kept based on prestige earned for the SG/VG by that character, enhancements they donated to the team storage racks, team missions they have done successfully, badges also grant a teamwork score, also there is a penalty for defeats occurring while on a team. The teamwork score is a percentage bonus applied to Reputation and Power when applying those values to the Team Rep and Power for that particular server.
* These scores (and others) are recorded at every level gain. Every 5th level they are exported to a separate spreadsheet so all characters progress can be measured against one another to see who was doing better at that point in the tournament.
Like I said, this is an extremely abridged version of my rules. I also have rules governing 50th level characters, when they can go rogue and switch sides. I have rules regarding my traderbots and how they level. I have rules about whose turn it is and what "bonus rolls" they get during their turn.
This is my tournament. This is my curse.
Heh. I love it tho'... -
the first rule of the tournament is you do not talk about tournament.
the second deals mostly with allowable confectioneries you can bring for post fight buffets, there are some food allergies to consider, please be courteous. -
Quote:ash, this mindset can get you into all kinds of trouble, are you tossing "notable financial institution" employees out of windows? lets get down to it, outside of a few notable political war criminals and normally stupid street level thugs who only exist as a side effect of economic issues , you cant punch a guy till he is gainfully employed, educated and invested in the well-being of the community, i've tried. the big picture bad guys are largely white collar, so what do you do? if ,as you said, no legal method of redress exists, how do you deal with a banker who financially destroys a swath of people's lives. beat him to death, torture him? congrats, you did jack squat for the victims, only taught the others that they need to be a bit sneakier, and reduced justice to the level of common thuggery. Light yagami would call you a poser. and the best part is, the big corporate entities are so used to working through proxies already, you are not going to find the real people responsible for anything, they perfected manufacturing deniability before you were born.I'm not talking about small time criminals when I say we need vigilante justice. I'm not referring to burglars and carjackers.
I'm talking about the ones that turn our system into a joke. The ones who have a lawyer that can wrap a case in red tape until it suffocates. The ones who laugh at conviction because they'll overturn in an appeal. The ones that buy cops and trade politicians over poker games. The ones that create the conditions spawning all the lower levels of crime.
These kind need to be dealt with. Harshly. Decisively.
I'll admit, this is a comics board, we tend to associate heroes with a series of overblown pro-wrestlers "fighting" crime, a few in here broke from that and indicated that the real world would be more about natural disasters, fires, mine collapses seem to be in vogue lately, and how about massive disease epidemics?. hell, lets be honest and look at the damages caused by economic exploitation... you cant exactly punch that out. and removing the petty dictators, in the real world, tends to lead to other criminals violently fighting to filling the power vacuum. Im afraid a superhero in the real world would become disillusioned and jaded pretty fast, and would lose their mind within a year, you either become a glory hog, losing any real empathy for the people, or you see how many people you cant help and break down like schindler at the end of schindlers list, you cant sleep, you have to go as fast as you can, and you still could have saved one more life.

Don't get me wrong-- this was not a story of "they took my TV! WTFBBQ" rageriots. There was no immediate flashpoint or anything like that... just a documented year-over-year comparison that showed just measurable violence increases, minutely measurable recidivism rate increases, and NOTABLE cost increases when compared to previous years and prisons containing similar prisoners that kept their TV. It's just a note that-- as counterproductive as it sounds-- 'getting tougher' isn't always the answer.
I recall reading in one of those list things that the hughes brothers probably saved thousands of lives by showing gang-bangers shooting guns sideways, get them that anime where the kid shoots holding the guns upside down! -
two, sort of, one was focused on bayonetta, but it also focused on standard gender roles and characterizations in relation to her. but yeah, the Ebert one was the only thing i read on the ebert art thing that didnt cause me to lose respect for the writer, he handled that well.

Quote:maybe, i think speaking generally, im kind of liking the new world where few titles are fully exclusive. back when i was a frost-hatchling i hated witha passion to have limited spending capacity, having to make decisions on gaming consoles that locked me out of several amazing series because everyone was so tribalisitc, it was part of the draw to eventually become more pc gaming oriented for me, if it was a pc game and my rig was strong enough, boom. That's an interesting view of the previous two generations. I'm inclined to agree. Maybe Sony did get lucky. At least they were at the right time with the right product, twice in a row. The prospect of a future Microsoft vs. Nintendo console war has potential, too. As he said, remember when console wars were fun to watch? That one could be awesome.
there still are exclusives, so i still miss a few games, but by and large the high def systems share the majority of their third party games, so while the realities of time and finances still limit my purchases to not having all of the consoles, there is far less opportunity cost associated with making a console decision. im kind of glad that the market got so weird now that companies focus a little less of infighting. for me really the console wars of nintendo vurses sega were a mix of silly young male bravado and rationalization over the fact that you saw a good 20 games on the other system that you wanted, but between school and the low pay rate for mowing lawns and shoveling snow, you weren't gettign one..particularly a neo geo. If i need a good argument, ill do coke and pepsi or breath mints and candy mints.
oh, and since i have my soapbox, you know how everyone goes on about the 60 dollar price tag of games today. i bought "the lion king" for the snes for 72 dollars, and phantasy star 3, when it came out, was either 90 or 100 dollars, cant remember which. just a thought for the younglings. -
Quote:id like to add to this that as a fan of his as well, thanks largely to momcha, another optional guy to listen to is "extra credit" with Daniel floyd. the game overthiker pointed me to him, and so far his stuff has been equely good..and he updates more than bob(yes, i understand that bob is busy with moviebob too) extra credits did one today about gow 3 that i REALLY wish we could discuss, but lets just say i like it.The Game Overthinker is a series on Youtube (and later ScrewAttack, because it won a contest). A guy named Bob talks about the deeper philosophical side of gaming culture, very few deal with specific games (and those that do only do so to illustrate a larger concept). The series is extremely well-done, with Bob being the most intelligent and passionate of all the gaming-related web personalities out there (no offense to Yahtzee or the Nerd, they're both good, just not so highbrow).

Considering that Ray Park wanted this role a decade ago, I wonder if he's still going to be in this? -

as others mentioned, its a performance thing. energy blast is certainly serviceable, as is kinetics melee.thats actually what i rerolled my character to do, kin melee is very watery. it should be noted that the coralax do have some watery attacks, they don't look very good.

I think it comes down a lot of times to people who really wanted to be bad and people who are just playing as villains because they cant be heroes and do that amount of content. Now hardcase's ways of convincing you are unimpressive and often immersion breaking, but for a less committed villain, he is not problematic, violet tendencies fit him perfectly, she doesnt trust the big good guy groups, but helping the marginalized and forgotten, thats her deal. that is also why she wants to skin phipps alive. now someone committed to being the bad guy may dislike the railroaded nature of hardcase's narrative as badly as the possible heroic feel of it, but would feel nothing about poisoning poor people for phipps. Both could use gr style choices so i can tell hardase"you aint making me do this, im doing it because it fits my goals"(generally writing to shift the locus of control to the player is a good idea) and i can tell phipps to pick his least favorite appendage so that i can drive a massive thorn through that one last.

well on a quirky side, i loved ricochet, partially because she is entirely deranged and has the most bizzarre way of saying thing, even when you take into account the resistance code language. and of course, i think most people who meet her like tunnel rat, she kind of has an early buffy willow sense of manic silliness to her, mixed with over the top paranoia, i was sad to see her go.
