i recall briefly trying to bring sanity to one of those threads before surrendering in a hobbsian way. what we got was, verbatim, what we were told we would get. it is misleading in the same way that a customer in a grocery store says that an advert is misleading when they misread it.
  2. oook, qr'ing since thigns got silly. This is endgame, while coh is peviously based on being very casual and alt friendly, in endgame heavy games, they tend to revolve around having just one or two characters to develop incrementally slowly with the content. if i were to see the reasoning of the decision in relation to other mmos, you really arent supposed to think of incarnates as something you are taking 30 characters through, but rather something to take 3 or 4 through to get the incremental upgrades and slowly build a few insane characters with the higher level buffs of each kind. endgame is for purpled out warshades, not for everyone in your entire roster. just my take on things.

for the record i quite like the incarnate arc, the first mission pretty much makes you feel like godzilla and the later challenge really forces me to bring my a game.
  3. here is the thing. i would have liked moe flashy stuff too, but go to the i19 overview, now read what it says for the alternate animations. they told us exactly what we were getting. those of use who expected multiple emination points because another game did them, or getting magic wands or guns, were entirely flying on our own. hopefully we will get more, lots more, i still need to be able to have projectiles fly from my mouth, preferably for ancilliaries, but that is probably quite far in the future. we were told what we would get, and we got it.

here is the quote, in fact "Now players can customize the animation for some characters' powers. Shoot a Psychic Blast or even launch a Fire Breath from your character's hands. Hurl an attack from one or both hands. Select the animations and customize how a character fires off its powers at any Tailor."

    is that description inaccurate?
  4. well shubb, heres the deal. this mission is the beginning of "endgame" for the player character. as it is in most online games out there, endgame is an additional challenge. some will enjoy that, some dont. honestly, knowing your posting history from the extended time we have seen each other, i could have told you that you wouldnt like it, it is a challenge. no biggie, endgame isnt going to be for everyone, but be aware that any endgame stuff that comes out is going to annoy you, because it will be challenging, and you will, as you have for years, hate it. its really best to come to a realistic conclusion on that as soon as possible.
  5. i'm not into naming individual drives, but i tend to name the computers after some of my dogs that have died, its kind of a little extra memorial to them, a vital part of my days, rather than a name on a stone slab nobody else looks at.

ya know, stephen wright would go for a lot of people, but for nielson, he just had such a wonderful gravitas when he said lines that were clearly goofy, it really sold them that much more. when given something yo work with (i.e. NOT stan helsing) he could really do amazing stuff.
  7. add jello and you have me on-board.
  8. his deadpan humor and hysterical plays on words influenced me a lot, loved his work on airplane and the cop show (name escapes me) some of his later stuff was not great, but he worked with what he was given, and when given something good, he was great, will be missed.

    Thanks but definitely no thanks.
eh, even if the game were to follow the trend and go f2p, most f2p play options are severely limited in relation to the "gold" member level stuff. ftp is a heavily equivocated demo, so when i buy this(will be the third of these that i get, will set me up till mid 2012) i really am not that concerned about the f2p bugbear, because i'd stay at the highest level of membership that i could get anyhow, and this is just a financially efficient manner to do so.

based on how other games are handling it, f2p coh might have just 1-2 costume slots and a few character slots, might even lock off some powersets if it follows the standard model. and that wouldn't be a form of the game that I would be particularly enthusiastic to play.

heck, thus far, when games go f2p they give the vet subscribers something extra, so bring it on
  10. i'd release a mmo called city of accountants and i.t. specialists.
  11. well yeah, as yous aid, its opinions. Tiers really aren't standardized things, its all about how one reads the words. i'd imagine the op is aggregating the reasons for our choices as much as our choices. i reiterate i'd personally prefer to read a nightcrawler book over batman, superman, or wolvie, but by my perception of tiers, he is what he is.
  12. now to endure the side of the family that i avoid for 360+ days for a day..could somebody please toss another deer at my car, the one on tuesday didnt finish me off, and now would not be an inconvenient time to do so...grumble. hope it is good for you guys or was good for you Canadians who had yours a bit ago.

that sounds like a pretty fair definition of democracy to me.

with my current job..pretty much never cant wait to get some free time again.

and yeah, i got the joke, it was a play on "the beatings will continue until morale improves" which is often attributed to pirates and really bad HR departments.
  15. why i love liberty, i never see this. exploits happen, and it takes tiem to fix some, unavoidable, but over-correction can cause as many consequences for legitimate players, so some times you just have to swallow hard and do something else for a while. you did send in a fairly detaield petition to help the devs find the exact exploit, right? i'd imagine that helps.
  16. while he is my favorite superhero, Nightcrawler would probably be a second tier one. not as well known but has a small devoted following. powerful but not among the heavy hitters. can carry some very interesting stories, but usually not the center of attention.

I'm tired of taking a screenshot of my power tray and constantly having to go back and forth referring to it as I re-jigger my powers. Because really all we're doing is switching out one or two powers and keeping the other 97% the same.
I could go along with this, currently one reason i'm looking at i19 with some trepidation is because of the slow and non-intuitive nature of respecs...it is going to kind of stink. i'm not a big efficiency gamer so i dont have my character's load-outs memorized, so remembering that afterward, i had other plans for a particular set kind of hurts. i have 60+ characters, 30 that get regular enough play for it to be an issue..i suspect long hours will be lost in an unsatisfying manner. this definitly is the next qol horizon for paragon to attempt, making respecs more sectional and less time consuming.

It's explained in a flashback with Gambit narrating--he and some other X-Men had been in a tussle with the Brotherhood, and for some reason, the Blob wasn't wearing his usual costume. Pyro's aim was a little wild, and...well, the Blob is fireproof, but his clothes weren't. Now, Gambit has a permanent anti-telepath image seared into his memory.

The youngster was still concerned--"What if they read my mind?" he asked.

[Gambit, paraphrased]: "You're a teenage boy in a room full of beautiful women in spandex. The last mind they want to read is yours."
Troy Hickman kind of lampshaded this as well. of course he toned it down, the young boy psyche signs autographs for would not have been thinking about psyche IN her underwear.
  23. yes, rian actually, conceptually i like him being super fast, but since i never could get the hang of geysers and liked the shard, he can fly. city traveler is nice. also, for teleporters, i have two that also have hover due to teleport's difficulty in landing on certain ledges. and concept, of course.
