    It'd be nice, but a rare occurrence that isn't an easy thing to fix would be lower on my roster of priorities.

    It's not a rare occurance, I'm afraid. It may depend on your origin; do you roll a lot of Science or Tech alts? I almost always get an Argosy mission door early on, but I almost never roll Science or Tech, either. Magic gets a mission to the SAME Argosy door every single time and always has; Natural uses that same door pretty often as well. Mutation seems to be 50/50. It's a real pain to get to and from this particular part of Atlas, both from an enemy standpoint and a layout standpoint, and I can see where a new player could be discouraged by it if they aren't really comfortable with CoH yet.
  2. The game has gotten a lot more complex since most of us who have been around from the beginning started out. Really, at launch, the game was very linear in terms of content progression; now, new players are given several choices fairly early on, and some of these choices are clearly not as newbie-friendly as others. I'm looking at you, Wincott.

    Back in the day, we dealt with a lot of frustrations like frontloading and bosses in standard-difficulty missions (since there was no other kind!), but I really think that they were preferable to the current newbie experience. The Hollows is a neat zone, but players should be referred to it by their second 5-10 contact, not the first one. By then, they probably understand that they can work for more than one contact at a time, and they'll be exposed to King's Row and know that they have a viable alternative to Wincott.

    Other in-game mechanics that are under-utilized:

    * clues
    * souvenirs
    * temp powers
    * keys

    Are you serious? I have about 10 temp powers cluttering up my powers screen just on my most recent, level 21 character. I don't use all that many of them consistently, so I guess I'm a little abnormal, but I think temp powers are pretty heavily utilized as it is.
  4. I play pretty much every AT, and as any of them I really dislike this attitude in a team, even as a scrapper. I'm sorry, but if you're going crazy all over the place and not sticking with the team, you're a liability, even if you're a good solo player. You're just going to stress out your teammates and get somebody killed eventually, especially if you actually nitpick about someone "stealing your prey." It's a team, kills are shared, get over it!

    On the other hand, I can definitely see your point when it comes to empathy heroes acting like they're gods of life and death. Sure, they're useful, but a scrapper (and any other AT) CAN live without them, though it's really kind of dumb not to take advantage of them if they're there.
  5. Vote Castle for lead dev as a write-in! If all the Stalkers do it, we can surely beat Craban and Statesman.

    Ninjitsu IS an american bastardization of the original ninjutsu - technically, they aren't identical, but functionally, they're identical in meaning to the American psyche.

  8. This challenge is very simple: write about a day (or days, if you choose) in the life of a villain. Any villain you want, from the lowliest Death Head Gunner to Lord Recluse himself - but make it believable and well written. Choose your own length, but I'd like at least a couple of pages - something that can reasonably qualify as a short story. I'm particularly looking for pieces about your everyday villain - give a Bone Daddy a name and backstory and explain just how he got to his position running the biggest Superadine lab in town. As I've said, though, any villain is fair game.

    Happy writing!
  9. Blood of the Nile?

    The link's a bit biased but it does specifically mention the Blood of the 'Black Stream', or the Nile, in Biblical mythology.
  10. Yeah, I agree, the costume's pretty bad. And if they wanted an Egyptian character I sure could have provided...but then I didn't even know about the contest until it was over.
  11. Blood of the Nile, huh? Doesn't exactly sound like a stereotypical Egyptian villain group to me...
  12. In I6 we'll get the long awaited 'electric shock feedback' system that Statesman is such an advocate of.

    I'd love to get Guildwars but my wife is comes from a relgious background and frankly its annoying that every fantasy games degenerates into involving demons and undead which she is very much against. It would be nice to have an fantasy MMO that just stuck to dragons, monsters and goblins.

    I have always wondered why on earth devout Christians are against games where you slay demons by the thousands (Diablo 2, etc) rather than cheering them on. After all, demons are evil, and so when you're fighting pure evil you're doing good. What's the issue?
  14. I saw a Lost Pariah say 'Good. I prefer a straight fight to all this sneakin' around' once. The devs are Lucas fans, to be sure.
