Quote:This is important to note: PAX is basically Sold Out.Just out of curiosity, how are you getting to PAX East? I'm from NY also (was at the NYC M&G too) and am considering going.
Driving isn't an option for me so I was considering Amtrak and possibly getting a room at the hotel connected to the conference center.
Amtrak is like a four hour+ trip >.> Flying is always an option too... but I dunno.
3 Day passes went a month or so ago, Saturday badges not long after that, and there is a very small amount of friday badges and Sunday badges left that will be gone before Thursday of next week. -
Two great entries guys!
Keep them coming, deadline is only 4 days away! -

This is actually even worse when you run dual screens and the game in windowed mode. I've found myself more then a few times clicking again to only be on the edge of the screen which causes the whole game to freeze for a second until you let go because it thinks I'm moving the screen.
Or it clicks off to my other window.
I noticed it mostly on my toons with targeted AOE powers. It can be a pain dropping those at times. A better contrast on the cursor would certainly be nice. -
I just want to say, dang you guys getting me back into attempting to learn coloring again.
I need another hobby like a hole in my head. I'd forgotten the guilty pleasure of just dabbling with line art. >_< -

So I managed to win an extra code for the animal pack from the PCGamer contest. I had already purchased my own copy of the animal pack when they let me know I'd won.
So I mulled for a week on how exactly to give away this freebie. I wanted to make the contest fairly open to everyone and fun, and this is what I came up with.
As you may know the PCGamer contest asked users to post a comment detailing an animal that would make the best villain. My winning entry suggested that the fearless Honey Badger would make an epic villain, much like an evil furry version of Chuck Norris.
So dear reader, is what I want you to do to win this code. Simple give me one or more of the following using the Honey Badger.
- A character mock up in game (Obviously this cannot use any of the new animal pack items).
- A origin story for a Honey Badger villain.
- Potluck! Any sort of creative item featuring the Honey Badger as a bad guy. Flex your creative muscles. Artwork, a story, a diorama made out of macaroni, the sky is the limit!
The Nitty Gritty Details
Deadline: March 8th
How to Enter: Post you entries here!
After March 8th I will select a winner out of the available entries.
Prizes
Grand Prize: A copy of the Animal Pack
3 Runners Up: 20 Million Influence Each

A new round of feature articles should be posted sometime this week. -
I took a stab at this. Unfortunately I don't have a tablet so adding/fixing the lines was... a challenge. I cheated and did some of it in illustrator. Coloring is meh and not complete, but I did find a neat way to get the arcane texture into the border of the hood.

Quote:She's very well preserved, as most zombies who are converted with the trioxin gas are. She was a chemist prior to her "death" and after death she worked to develop a way to turn her condition into basically immortality.Already started your sketch right after I posted that you had won.
I went through each of the refs under your sig banner and had to chuckle when I saw a character based in part on a Zombie Girl song.
I figured, chosen by White Zombie, based on Zombie Girl that's too good to pass up.
So yeah Trioxin is what I went with (the labcoat wearing version that's on your virtueverse page).
Thanks for the extra refs I'll look em over and see if there is anything more I can glean from them.
P.S. One question I did have, should there be any signs of obvious decay (ragged hair, missing skin etc) or is she still well preserved and human looking aside from the blank white eyes?
It amuses me we used the same exact logic to pick a character. -
Quote:Oh hey, wow I won something. Yay!Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!
Wow those rounds were pretty much opposite, the first round I just picked number 7 myself and someone got it almost immediately,
the 2nd round I decided to let my music collection choose. I loaded up a few thousand songs, hit random
play and the first song with a number in it was an old White Zombie track.
And this time it was one of the absolute last numbers guessed.
Thanks for playing everyone who guessed and congratz goes to Ransim!
Still a couple chances to win people stay tuned for round three coming soon.
I love Thunder Kiss '65 so I definitely approve winning on a number tied to that song.
And given the number was selected by a white zombie song I think I have to go with my zombie girl mad scientist Trioxin (2-4-5) for the art piece.

I can't draw to save my life and my coloring leaves a lot to be desired, but I can generally do pretty decent texturing so I'm always happy to offer that if someone needs it or wants a tip.

Took a bit of time out of the end of my day, this is a bit more relaxing them my current stress insanity at work. This is a bit of an example. The idea is you find a good representation of the texture you're looking for, then you use a combination of cut sections, the liquefy tool and transform warp to mold it to the body/item.
So places like the shoulder and the eye i popped it out some to give it definition. Places like the lower jaw and the ears and the neck I pushed it in.
There are also places on a lizard you generally see a deviation from the scales, but that would require using multiple skin references. ^_^

Quote:Actually... thats real lizard skin. The texture I used is a picture of I believe komodo dragon or iguana skin.Ransim, you've run into the same problem I had when I decided to texturize my son's lizard guy which is the pattern is too uniform over all. Because of folds and turns in the skin which we can't see the texture should be more random. I know that sounds odd because it is a random pattern in itself. Easiest way to explain (and you may realize this and I'm rattling on for no reason) is to do a visual - make a "C" with your hand and look at your index finger's knuckles, then clench your first and look at the same areas it's very different. Yes shading helps in the drawing but not enough. What I tried to do was adjust the size of the texture and the orientation of it in relation to the area of skin. It helped but without A LOT of time it still doesn't look as good as if it had been drawn on from the beginning.
Wow that was long winded sorry. It also sounds like I didn't like and that's not it at all!!! It's a great three way (O_O) collab! I just thought I'd add my two cents of experience in...
The real challenge with textures and not something I had time to do at work, is you have to cut it up and mold it over the muscles so it has some depth where it should.
If I get some time tonight I can probably do it properly. -
Thinking about doing some sort of silly contest to give it away myself. I'll let you know if I come up with something good.

Quote:I won one too! Though i'd already bought mine so I might have to do a contest to give it away.Looks like I was one of the lucky ones.
Got my code via email this morning.
My suggestion for best animal villain was the Honey Badger.
Its like a evil animal version of Chuck Norris.
