Here's how to modify it. I'd be curious to see if this works for others as well.

f you are currently connecting to the test servers, please try the following to connect to the live servers:

    1. Open your Hard drive.

    2. Open Applications.

    3. Control-Click on the City of Heroes.app and choose "Show package contents".

    4. Open Contents.

Now, I would like you to modify the info.plist file that is located in the Contents folder and remove the following lines:
    <key>CiderGameOptions</key> <string>-- cohupdater.exe -test</string>

Also, please open a ticket to let the devs know if this works or not. It may get us a fix much faster.
I'm letting the test client up date now. But without letting the test client update I do not find anything in the plist that resembles cidergameoptions.

Maybe after I have the full download the info plist is updated with what you posted.

Then go to contents>resources>transgaming>c_drive>coh and delete the Data folder. You can go to your trash can and put it back if there is no change.
Its not that YB, because several already did a fresh install. So Vidiot map is not gonna be there.

Ya know, I remain rather impressed by the high quality of technical support NCsoft provides. Just sayin'.
Not for nothing but why don't they go out and pick up a Mac with ATI card and try it out themselves and see if it works. Why should we, as I am getting the same request be the guinea pigs.

IF they want me to test the game for them, they need to pay me or offer me something like a free month of time for the work. At the end of the day when it is all said and done this is a business. I don't expect to go to the car mechanic and change my own oil or rotate my own tires. That's why I went there in the first place. They put out the mac client. They charged me to buy the mac client. They need to fix this not me.

But I commend you and say thank you for doing what your doing because I know for sure they won't take the time out to say thank you. ( well they will now that I said it )

I want to cry and moan and foot stomp. But I just figured I would try to install COH on a VM on my mac and see how it works or doesn't. I will let you know in 38 ( EDIT its at 55 hours ) hours when the client finishes installing if it works. I figure I will have COH installed on my VM by friday and see if it works. If it does even if in a limited fashion, I will limp along over the weekend and into next week, which is when they might have this Mac issue fixed.

If this issue isn't fixed by Friday I will ask for a game time credit. I think 4 days is a fair amount of time. Again its a business like any other.
  7. I do think the re-summoning end issue is too high. Personally I don't get the whole point behind having to spend 3/4 of your endurance bar to summon you main weapons.

It's not like you can re-summon MORE pets and cheat. It's not as if summoning your pets at once for 1/4 of your endurance would put you at some advantage. Again I just don't get it. It's something beyond my understanding.

Gonna sound silly maybe, but I have to say personally I feel more fortunate with my Robot Trap MM build then others in this new stuff. At least when my pets are down or the situation makes it impossible to summon them at least I have my traps and Trip mine to fall back on to do some debuffs / buffs and AOE damage. Others sets are sort of pigeon into either debuffing buffing or healing. Imagine being a Force Field MM without pets. You buff everyone up and your standing around for 4 minutes.

And on the flip side thank your lucky stars your not a Stalker. If a Stalker isn't the Team Lead he pretty much isn't getting a team now a days.

Just wondering how many days have to go by before we can get some game play credit. I know its not gonna get fixed today, so some of use are out 2 days so far.

  12. As BK said.. MIDs build would be better for many to look at.

Further I would use the search feature and do a search for Force Field in these forums. I'm positive you will find several thread related to Robot FF MM and builds and other info related. I did the search myself to make sure. Again it just to get you some insight on other builds and ideas.

Finally just in general your build is pretty much what man Force Field masterminds go with. There might be some changes here and there ,but not many. If you take a overall look at masterminds you will start to see that there are some key powers that just about every sane mastermind picks up and slots in a similar fashion to everyone else. You just do not have that much wiggle room as a mastermind, especially as a FF Mastermind. Your gonna take the bubbles and your going to take the 3 pets. Your going to take Tactic and Maneuvers. Many have Aid other and Aid self. There are just not that many powers to choose from as a Robot FF MM.

So in a nutshell your not off the mark. But you need to do a bit more foot work before someone else bothers to take the time to help you out. Especially since the sets are old enough to have the same builds posted over and over again on these forums.

Here is my build to look at in mids.

  13. I feel retarded.. I posted the wrong build.. End result I reworked Nethergoat build. His build I think is pretty much optimal if your looking for a AR Dev Range Cap build. With a purple set in Full Auto your having great damage and a really fast recharge on a crashless nuke, of course all with Range cap. If you could squeeze Aid self into the build it is the only way I can see this being any better.

Nonetheless this is really, really the build I respeced into. It still has Health 6 slotted and Stamina 4 Slotted. I went for the high regen bonus. I have Cardiac and even though I not much of any issue before with my old build and Cardiac, this build I have to say is really not putting any strain on my endurance compared to my previous build. My last build did put me in an endurance drain in an extended fight but I haven't had that issue yet with this new build.

Further another issue I had was my Health was not regenerating my health back as fast as I would have liked. This new one isn't much faster but the numbers are showing me almost 4 point more per second.

Over all I am getting a better feel from this build. I think the hover is helping out as well.

Arg, I hate when you think you have the build and can't think of anymore angles and someone comes in and does. Gonna look at the build when I get home. Thanks for taking the time out to find something better.
  15. I'm guessing a RP toon ? Or Just happen to be on Virtue ? Not that it matters. But just trying to get a deeper feel for what your looking to do. Role Play wise you would have a bit more flexibility since no one is going to beat you up for power choices as it is RP. Thematically AR Dev is great also.

Game play wise though as was mentioned, and getting the feel you might be a newer player. I wouldn't create a build to be looking out for your fellow player unless your building a toon from the appropriate sets. Your a blaster so be a blaster. As an example you have to pick up Aid Other to pick up Aid Self. I would keep Aid Other slotted with base 1 slot it came with and maybe slot Aid Self with 3 or 4 slots to improve my personal heals. Stimulate another power for someone else which has no benefit to me, so I would get rid of it.

I see you have Assault, Tactic, Maneuvers. I also see you slotted these powers.. But you have Health and Stamina 1 slotted. With Stamina 1 slotted you wouldn't even be able to run all those powers and attack.

I would go over to this link and look at all the builds and start getting ideas from those builds.. Start looking at what common powers those build have. That should give you some idea which power most players who use this build gravitate to and why. Look at how they are slotted. If they are slotting Full Auto with 6 or 5 slots and your only slotted with 3 or 4 then you need to look at why. Look at the builds in MIDs and look at the numbers for each power, the damage and accuracy.

Just remember what that thread is about it is about getting Range Cap Defense for AR Dev so understand that thread is going to be unique to that in some sense, but nonetheless there are other builds in there and some good stuff.

Issue should be fixed, not just overlooked.
I think you need to post your build.

I know you can defense cap with traps, but I will agree that Trip mine is slow at 6 second recharge with IO slotted. But I was just looking at mine last night and I was taking mobs down by 75% to 80% health and I was running on 3/8 setting. But beyond that it is the only secondary that allows you defense cap without pets and a decent though slow high end damage attack. Again not discussing optimal super builds. I'm just saying Pet-less Traps is the only secondary set that masterminds can have that allow them to solo missions on a 0/8 setting and still survive. There are players that can't do that with a full set of powers.

Triage Beacon is giving me lower end scrapper regen numbers. I'm at 561%, again scrappers have more but many do not have that much more maybe 600% numbers. And if your slotted with IOs you can have double Triage Beacons for a limited amount of time and some players with higher end builds can have Triple Triage Beacons. Double Triage beacon beats out Scrapper numbers.

Again not calling you out, not trying to be a jerk ( though it does sound like I am ) I'm just saying you might be missing out on some stuff or someone might have steered you in the wrong direction.

    Traps is King.

It is about one of the few sets you can port over to any other AT that has traps and end up with a yet another Defense cap build. I have a Robot Trap MM lvl 50, Sonic Trap Corruptor lvl 50, Traps AR Defender lvl 50, I have a Semi Pet-less MM ( last pet only for thematic reasons ) Demon Traps lvl 37 and finally I am working on DP Traps Corruptor lvl 26. The first 3 builds are defense capped and can all run 4/8 setting missions. I admit I have a trap fetish.
  17. I'm talking off the cuff here.. Traps maybe ?

I would need to read up on the PvP numbers. I'm not sharp on what is needed for PvP. I don't know if defense cap is translate well into PvP or is it resistance that matters.

But also as you mentioned you have been doing this a while so your just looking for some change.
  18. I did some reflecting about my mind set.

I think because I do not have the cash flow and refuse to play the Black Market Mini Game it is hard for me to see how a build like that would work or perform in game. One day I will need to get on the Black Market and start figuring that out. I have been lucky to get several purple drops I just don't use. So I stick to the safe inexpensive route.

There is one thing also that threw me off in one of your first postings.

Hehe, my build is a bit different, but i went a pure recharge route (with spirtual alpha boost) i can probably do everything plainguys build can do
I'm just asking, have you tried running your build on some higher settings ?

Another comment I think any Defense cap player will agree Cots and Freakshow are easy to deal with. I hate Malta and Longbow nullifiers. It would be insane and painful for me to run 4/8 setting vs those mobs.
  19. Not much to say everyone pretty much said it all. As Silas mentioned Sonic is nice as it further increases your DPS after the first attacks hit. I have a Sonic Traps for that reason. Traps is great for sure.

    Archery/Energy

Aim BU Range Boost ROA Explosive Arrow Fist Full of arrows will pretty much clear out everything but the tougher bosses. Like anything sometimes you miss a few.. Its like when you hit a lvl 10 with a lvl 50 AOE and wonder how one of them lived. Just works out that way. I have much less then you on my build and I have aid self and I am also range defense cap.

One thing I did learn is with Arch EM on battle maiden fight you can actually fly so high that your out of range of the blue patch. It extends up but not that high up.

I think you could obtain what I have and still have all that goodness which would make this a very great toon. The 15 second recharge on ROA can't be beat. Mine is at 25 seconds and I have no clue what Spiritual incarnate kicks it down to. I do wish mine was 20 seconds or less.

Fight wise I think you will be alternating between explosive and fistfull as they fire off faster and you will be looking to take out a few with the aoe effects. I don't think you will be using ROA in the middle of a fight unless you just have no choice like an ambush pops up because it just takes too long to fire off.

So I think in a sense your doing 1k in damage to mobs that might have 200 hit points. I think your way over the top and can kick it back a bit without loosing anything.

Sorry if I hit a nerve. But I get it, its 0/0 setting. Pretty much standard setting for every toon with SOs.

So are you saying that TA is so bad that you need all of this just for standard setting ?
Have other TA players had similar issues ?
Does anyone else have a 50 TA MM that they find successful ?

I mean really if you need to do all of this just to play the base line lowest setting of the game isn't there a time just to cut the losses and move on. Especially when you have IO set bonuses and another player is decked out in SOs. End result is a SO player cannot even compete. And this is what the base line of the game is set for.

Not for nothing this pretty much says it all. Why have a power(s) that you need to save for that moment. What if you have 2 of those moments back to back and those power(s) are not up yet ?

I have never read someone brag about poison.
  23. How about you reverse your choices Bots or Demons with anything but Poison.

If you have a bunch of 50s and your doing this for the sake of a change of pace and challenge then by all means I would go with Demons Poison for thematic reasons.

    BUT

If your doing this as a new toon and as one of your primary playing toons then I would do anything but Poison. Especially being your first MM. I think the set will turn you off to masterminds. It is just too single target for all the AOE your pets put out. The synergy just is not there.

Otherwise why would he have clearly said MUSCULATURE.

We can get deeper into the reading comprehension aspects of the post, if you like. I enjoy it.
It is Musculature, by bad yet again.. I should have said Endurance Mod. I didn't have access to any info persay beyond what was in my head. I felt it offered the most for the set at that time. To me the biggest thing was the level boost. Remember I had no issues before. I fought both AV at the same time doing the Incarnate mission because I misunderstood the mission level settings all this time. It was only after I tried with my AR Device and was asking for help that someone explained where to look to make sure my settings were correct. Stupid me..

    @Arbegla

I guess my whole point of my comments to you is my build stinks and I can solo 4/8 which is the highest setting. I can solo 0/8 without the pets and Traps only. There are players that can't solo 0/5 with a full set of powers let alone 0/8 on half their powers.

So if I am doing with less then what you have posted, you don't need to spend the 15 billion when you can do it will 300 million, maybe. I think there just is a max where its just over kill. We are both doing the same thing but for 2 extremely different price values. Which is fine, but if I posted your build as the primer for this thread no one would have cared because maybe only 5% of the gaming community can afford 15 Billion for a build. I think I would have gotten more insults then anything, because it would come off as look at me and it would give the impression that its 15 billion or nothing.

Its like talking about Lamborghini's and a Ford Mustang. I can't relate to a Lamborghini. Even if I had the cash I would never buy one. It serves me no purpose. The speed limit is 65 in the USA for the most part so I don't need a car that can go 240. I like the look of the Mustang and it gets me to 65 and yea a bit faster if needed. Further I could not fathom a time I would need to go 240 MPH in real life and living in NYC you couldn't even get that fast without hitting another car it is so congested. Get my point or frame of mind. Neither am I saying though that spending 15 billion is wrong. I am just trying to keep a realty on this for newer players who just don't have that cash flow. You can sell 3 LOTG + recharge and buy the IOs needed for this build.

My whole point of this thread is answer that same question that keeps coming up about Robot Traps or Traps in general. Traps is Traps is Traps. You bring this build over to Corruptor or Defender and you pretty much have another defense cap toon.

I think without pets I can survive much longer then someone who relies on pet bubble.

I cannot hold aggro with Provoke alone maybe you can. Eventually my pets will out dps my aggro. Especially at the start of a fight with all the AOE. So I use Trip mine to help build up the aggro. It works for me. But again it all depends on the setting your running your missions on also. On a 1/1 setting the most you need from Traps is FFG. Trip mine also helps me when I cannot summon pets. Again I won't waste your time with examples unless you ask. I'm sure your aware of those instances.

Stealth Proc is to help out when stealth runs are needed. EG LGTF assorted mission, BSF last mish, Several Tip missions. In caves for those that have issues with SS and caves. They can purchase a Temp jet pack activate SS and fly around with the jet pack and still obtain the same stealth. So its a win / win situation in that respecs.

I don't know where you were going with the trip mine and stealth proc comments ( well I actually did but just ignored it ) but I figure I would clarify.

As far as pet defense, for the most part I explained my tactics. My pets are just range attack powers.. They stay behind me at all times if I can help it. Spamming All pet stay helps at keeping them behind me. My complete control goes as follows.. All follow, all stay, all attack, all passive followed by all defensive when removing aggro from a runner.. My pets are in defensive mode at all times otherwise. When I'm solo I loose 1 T1 pet usually, otherwise I have no issues. I loose more pets in teams then I do solo and we are on the same settings. Which is common since I cannot control other players.

All I am doing is now showing where I found something better and explain why I feel it's better. EG removing the IO from Caltrops, picking up Oppressive Gloom.

But in the end if it all works for you that is all that matters right.
  25. I reworked my previous working build to this build. This build has a bit more endurance and more regen. I am currently slotted for endurance incarnate but I think the damage incarnate with the endurance redux might work which will increase my damage by 50 point in each power.. That seems big.. I will test it out and see. But I wouldn't go Musculature with this build straight out. My last build was created right as incarnate was coming out so I able to drag along through that until I was able to slot in Cardiac.

Side Note: It would be nice to have one IO Ranged AOE Set with Range defense bonus.
