Bots or Demons with /Poison

Question for the experts before I start working on my 1st MM. Of Demons and Robots, which goes better with Poison overall to be a hard target killer? I read that Assbots have -regen and Demons have exotic damage output. It looks like Poison has -50% regen in Envenom but not sure how well that plays out by itself.
Thanks in advance.

If you're focusing attacks on one target, then Demons gets the lead because of stacking -resist from the hellfire attacks.

RS and OB, thanks a lot for the info...I appreciate it

I have a Thugs/Poison, and it is great for single target debuffs, but not so much for anything else. Bots will add some defense and Demons will add some -res.

I, myself, don't use many Poison powers in a normal mish outside the heal and maybe the cone. I tend to save the debuffs for harder targets, some LTs, Bosses and higher.

How about you reverse your choices Bots or Demons with anything but Poison.

If you have a bunch of 50s and your doing this for the sake of a change of pace and challenge then by all means I would go with Demons Poison for thematic reasons.

BUT

If your doing this as a new toon and as one of your primary playing toons then I would do anything but Poison. Especially being your first MM. I think the set will turn you off to masterminds. It is just too single target for all the AOE your pets put out. The synergy just is not there.

Not for nothing this pretty much says it all. Why have a power(s) that you need to save for that moment. What if you have 2 of those moments back to back and those power(s) are not up yet ?

I have never read someone brag about poison.

Plainguy & DrWhat,

I appreciate the input and agree with picking a different seconday...I have thought about that. PvE has gotten slightly boring after 5yrs of playing and even though I still enjoy it a lot, I sometimes I come up concepts that may play decently in a casual PvP environment as well.

Again, thanks a lot guys for the help and if there is a PvP secondary that you think may be comparable to /Poison, let me know.

I'm talking off the cuff here.. Traps maybe ?

I would need to read up on the PvP numbers. I'm not sharp on what is needed for PvP. I don't know if defense cap is translate well into PvP or is it resistance that matters.

But also as you mentioned you have been doing this a while so your just looking for some change.

See I really disagree with this. If you check out the other DS/Poison thread going at the moment, it was me that kicked it all off. I know *nothing* of MM's when I made that toon. I picked poison because I thought it made a somewhat natural combo with DS at least theme wise and I wasn't keen on going pain.

It was only when I started to read the boards somewhere in the early 30s on the toon that I realised I had picked the worst combo there is...

But I hadn't. It's fun. I didn't struggle anywhere along the way to level up. Now I will admit that I rarely solo'd other than an odd tip mission here and there but team/TF wise, I got on just fine.

Also for my money, Noxious Gas and Demon Prince are probably the best synergy of powers in the game. They work perfectly together on every level.

Far from putting me off MMs, I hit 50 with this just a few days ago (still need to work out my build so I've been a bit quiet back in that thread), the next thing I did was roll a bots/traps to see how that worked out.

DBJ - I understand what PG is saying though...other secondaries have more survivability or other useful tools b/c /Poison is a VERY single target oriented set.

PG - Great set and I enjoyed it, but I tried it before on a Corruptor and I enjoyed it, but traps just seemed too stationary for me.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate the help again.

To be fair, Poision is very good at what it does, which is big ST debuffs backed by a nice hold. Noxious Gas also works great with a melee pet. **CoughBruiserCough**

It's good at what it does, but you need to know and understand it's limitations, like with any MM secondary.
