There are two bits of CoX culture you may not know which could have influenced their behavior. First, the reason a lot of people don't like to team with stalkers is because a lot of people play stalkers just like you did: they sneak ahead and click glowies while letting the rest of the team struggle along shorthanded. There are times when ghosting is appropriate and there are times when it is not, but there have been a lot of people playing stalkers who insist on ghosting no matter what. Most people find that pretty annoying, and it just gets more annoying the more it happens.
Second, when CoV came out it was very common for people to act like horrible jerks, griefing people and using all sorts of racist language and engaging in other types of poor behavior. Then, when someone would complain, they would say "Hey, I'm RP'ing a villain!" And pretend like that made everything ok. It didn't. Since that behavior seems less common now, I'm guessing the GM's didn't accept that excuse any more than anyone else did. RP is a fine excuse for your character to treat other characters poorly. It's a lousy excuse for you to treat other people poorly. If there's any risk that the people you're playing with won't understand the distinction, then I suggest you err on the side of common courtesy.
It sounds like your teammates went overboard with the nastiness, though. It's just a game. One mission ending sooner than they expected isn't the end of the world. I don't know why some people can't just shrug things off. Common courtesy isn't as common as I'd like. -
I'm one of those people in the in-between spot. I already have a few level 50 heroes, and one of my main characters these days is a Warshade, level 30 so far. On the other hand, I've never gotten a villain to 50.
So I could look at it one way and complain that my amazing accomplishment of achieving a level 50 hero has been devalued, thus slapping my face. Or I could look at it the other way and be glad that I can finally try out the VEATs without needing to level a villain to 50.
Personally, I think it's good that more people can do more stuff to have more fun. -
Email or no email, you can always try logging in to the test server and see if you can get in. Also, closed betas normally have their own forum. If you can see it, then you're in, whether you got the email or not. They used to put things like that in the Development section, but now that we've merged the American and European forums together, I would suggest looking in the top hierarchy of the forums, rather than within the Development section of any specific language.
But if you're really not in, them I'm not sure what can be done about it. -
I can't find a screenshot of it, but wasn't there a time in-game when falling could kill you? And if you fell far enough to die, then you'd get a special animation of your body embedded in cracked cement, or something like that?

Quote:Well, there's no guarantee that heals and buffs won't deactivate it.So, unless you're a healer/buffer/etc., this thing is nothing but glitter.
Or am I missing something?
I'm not sure "glitter" is the word I would use to describe something that makes you less visible. That's kind of the opposite of glitter. I'm really not seeing the appeal here. I guess it's helpful to avoid patrols while you're AFK.
P.S. I liked the tongue-sticking-out smiley on the old forums better. -
So people on trial accounts can't play them? I'm just guessing, but that might be the reason they are keeping a level gate on them.

When you're testing a mission, up in your nav bar there is a button labeled "Architect Options". Click that. A menu opens. It's full of testing tools: you can toggle invisibility or invincibility, kill any target, complete a mission, skip to an objective, teleport to an enemy or an objective... I think that's it. It's very cool. Really makes it feel more like a developer tool.

As much as I like the AE, I don't actually find the time to use it very often. The latest contest from Dr. Aeon inspired me to get back in and create a mission that I've had kicking around in my head for about a year. When I did, I was surprised to see some of the features that have been added to the editor since its inception. The spawn markings on the map are something people had been asking for since AE was first introduced, and I like being able to auto-complete a mission while testing.
There are more improvements that can be made, but it's nice to feel like the AE is still being actively developed. -

Everyone is talking about damage done to a single target, but if you add up all the damage done to all targets from a single AoE attack then you'll get some very big numbers. Okay, maybe not scientific notation big, but remember the seas of orange numbers floating up from the old dumpster diving days before the aggro limits and AoE target limits?

Quote:Really? I was thinking that people would have lower expectations of what a Kheld can do if the threshold to get one is lower. All of the cries of "this ain't epic enough" will be magnified ten fold.
Anyhow, it's no skin off my nose. Having other people play a Kheld doesn't hurt me in the slightest. I will point out that having the limit at 20 keeps the trial accounts locked out. Also, it sounds like level 20 is going to be a significant milestone once GR comes out. -

This is a brilliant post. Far too many times the devs have stood by silently while speculation went wildly out of hand. When they finally stepped in, the resulting disappointment swamped the excitement of the original announcement. I know marketing stops them from saying what *is* in the future releases, but I'm glad to see them stepping up and saying what is *not* before people get their hopes too high about the wrong stuff.

Nope. It's 9:30 a.m. on the west coast, and I still can't get into the test server. I'm not seeing any "queue" message though. It just says the test server is closed for internal testing.

9:00 a.m. on the East Coast, USA, and still can't get on the test server. Maybe 9:00 a.m. west coast time?

I just found my first one.

I don't mind the clicking, I mind the noise.

I rarely bother to take stamina. I like the first 20 levels because xp comes pretty quickly - at least one level a week, sometimes two. The game starts slowing down in the 20's, and it can feel very grindy by the mid 30's no matter how much endurance I have.

18 inches here in Western PA so far, and very heavy, wet snow it is. A lot of branches have come down, and a pine tree in our back yard snapped in half. It looks just like the pictures from Mousedroid.
Around here we have "yinz", which I think comes from "you ones" and is another sort of second person plural. I don't use it but I like it. It never would have occurred to me to call it a Lovecraftian word. You mean because of the spelling? It's not exactly "cthonic".
I agree that modern English can get by without an explicit second person plural, but that's no reason to ban them. If I remember correctly, Old English had not only a plural second person pronoun, but there was even a different form to distinguish dual from plural. Languages evolve, English more than most. -
Quote:I'd certainly like to see more tidbits too, but this doesn't seem to be a very good reason from NCSoft's point of view. Why should they care when you decide to buy it, as long as you do decide to buy it? It's not even for sale yet. If they told you enough now to get you excited enough to buy it... what good would that be? You can't buy it. By the time it does hit the shelves, in three months or six months or whatever, your excitement will have faded away and you might not buy it after all.My interest has actually been rapidly decreasing in GR. I'm sure it'll be cool when it comes out, and my fiance and I will probably buy one copy when it hits, but we're debating wasting our money past that, because at this point we're getting it just for pistols, which are cool, but not worth money we could be spending elsewhere.
I'm not saying that they need to tell me every single thing that is included in GR, but tidbits occasionally would be nice.
Better to wait until there is something you can do with that excitement before trying to get anyone excited. -
Only 727 hours on Joey Katana, and that's spread out over five years.
