I havent tried, but can't you use the desks stacked like that to get the floor where you want it? (ie you want the height to be 3 desks off the ground, so stack 3 desks, then lay the floor tile down and build out the floor from there?)

Quote:I did, so live with it (A smiley doesn't erase the snark)I saw nothing condescending in his post you responded to. Often people inject their own personality traits when reading the posts of others because text has no "tone" or body language to accompany it except for smileys.
If I may suggest to you in the future when someone posts aat the end of a comment you may want to observe they aren't being mean in the text that comes before it.

Quote:so paragon city has no visitors? loading up the streets with taxis would make sense as well...And except for the Taxi's and city vehicles 99% of all those drivers live outside the city and are driving in to work in the city.

Quote:I can understand that, but I would thing a solid moving object would take up less resources that an animated person. and for that matter, they don't have to be moving, they can fill parking lots with them and have them parked on the side of the roads. From a technical point of view, tracking even MORE moving objects means sending more data to the user's PC to keep things synced up-- the more that's tracked... and the more frequently they can change, the more bandwidth spent... and the sooner you hit bottlenecks in performance. You also have an engine that's designed to handle only X number of moveable objects at a time. Things that aren't shared/tracked, like leaves and ammo brass, don't count to that limit, but something that must be shared- like the locations of cars moving on the street- would. Getting anywhere near real-city traffic levels
as for the design of the cars.. they are freaking awesome -
no this is not a bug report, but while running around the Portal Corp I noticed hundreds of people waling around and a parking lot that was mostly empty... same can be said for the roads in general, this is a busy city, there should be cars everywhere! the lack of cars in the Rogue Islands makes perfect sense, but not in Paragon City!

Base has been updated again, second floor in the Oversight Center was torn down and rebuild one step lower when I figured out a better combo for the stairs. added a med bay and a storage area (not shown, just a bunch of racks). Not going to do any more for a while until I can afford to add another room.
been working on a friends base, and after some convincing, he ended up with a net gain of 500k prestige and in the last week that has grown to 1.4mil. I will post pics of what was done there soon
EDIT: there are new pics at the link in post #1 -
Quote:I think "with the exceptions of places not served by the train/ferry." covers thatI dunno about obsolete. And what about train service to Hazard zones?
Quote:
I'll just chalk it up to personal taste. Then again, I don't keep massive quantities of salvage on-hand in my base much anymore (unless it's actually a team base). Mostly because I wind up having to spend prestige for rent on stuff that just really needs to be sold. -
I mostly disagree with the above recommendations, telepads are nice, but with the combining of the yellow and green lines in less than a month, they will become mostly obsolete, with the exceptions of places not served by the train/ferry.
Maybe its personal taste, but I think (personal) crafting and storage is more important than anything. It seems to be the only thing I use my base for unless Im in a hurry, then the teleporters come in handy. If Im soloing, its no big deal.
the medbay is ok if you dont mind only having part of your HP & END recovered by the time you leave.
so my priority has been (using the Oversight Center with the combo unit) storage (salvage), invention table, med bay, vault, nex on the list will be more salvage storage and maybe an enhancement storage table... -
ok, I give up, how did you do the stove? (specifically the burners)
EDIT: nevermind, it was the wastebasket -
Quote:saw it after i made the post, unfortunately, a lot of the links are deadActually, there is already a thread for that very purpose... check my post above (#55) with the big green linky.
I'd rather get that thread going again (now that we can actually embed pics in our posts), and keep it bumped up... maybe even get it re-stickied.

Quote:from what I saw yesterday on triumph, there are 4 waves that happen in about a 30-45 minute span, then approx two hours after the start of the last invasion, the next wave happens (5:00, 7:00 & 9:05PM CST)Wanted to reiterate this problem because Virtue invasions are still not working properly. Waited around for an hour and a half last night, no invasions. I logged on this morning to see the "Rikti are retreating..." announcements from two zones, waited around for an hour and no Invasions were announced.
I sincerely hope this is not working as intended because if it is I will likely not be able to get the accolade on the two characters I want it for. -

you say that like its a bad thing!

While contemplating what to do with a massive energy room that only has one enerygy item in it I got to thinking about blocking things out by filling in 1x1 squares top to bottom, then a thought came to me...
Why do we have rooms at all? it used to be, I assume, for raiding purposes, but what about starting with an 8x8 chunk of property and a 2x2 square from there you have to build square by square. This would have the side effect of allowing things to be placed in hallways.
Also why should there be a limit on what can go into each "room" and instead limit the amount of items per square. why cant a salvage rack go into the base entry if you want it?
Unfortunately this is just a pipe dream, and more of a mental exercise. -
Im not sure that is right... we had a team, I was the lead at lvl 27, we had one at 41, two more in the lower 20s. whenever the lower 20s clicked on a door we got white and yellow villains, when I or the 41st level player clicked (and we have higher diff levels) we got orange and reds, occasionally a purple

Quote:buh? if your not logged in with a SG alt, then there wouldn't be any NPC raid missions, thus no rewards... what you are proposing forces people to defend their bases, people dont want to be forced to do anything... it would be like making the market, AE or inventions mandatory.
I see your problem with vulnerability windows, but if the raids only happenned when SG members were logged in, what's to prevent systemic abuse by ratcheting ops up to an obscene level, and simply having everyone play non SG alts for a week while you roll in the rewards risk free? -
Quote:Im guesing you are misunderstanding what I was saying... nobody would have to be online 24/7, just like with the safe guard missions, you check the police radio, detective so-and-so says "we have word that your base may be attacked" at that point you are given the OPTION of allowing the police to take care of the problem of taking care of it yourself. Reward if you do, No reward if you dont, but purely optional.it's simply bad form to have the base vulnerable to an NPC raid 24/7, as that then requires someone to be around watchdogging it 24/7.
Vulnerability windows are a compromise.
The problem with vulnerability windows is... not everyone plays at the same time or the same days -
Quote:would make more sense if it was instanced if someone was actually on line, and like I said above make it optional where the PPD could take care of it if you didnt want to mess with it. there would be a reward if you did want to participate, none if you dont, just like a safeguardNPC raids would be set on a base vulnerability window, say somewhere in the range of two hours every day. Vulnerability windows are a great way to prevent players from needing to be on call 24 hours a day. During that window, a raid event may spawn at your base, you'll be notified via the zone events channel if it happens.

Quote:I mostly got that part down, kinda, just not the specific piece he usedTake a look at this post from the stickied "stacking tools" thread. It might be helpful. You use the "hanging stack" like you would the floor lamp, and intersect the desired item like you would a floor tile.
I think someone mentioned a slightly easier way to accomplish it, but for the life of me I can't remember where.

make it like a safeguard mission... "There is word that <insert villian group here> is devising a plan to attack your base, do you want us to take care of it or can you handle it yourself"
there, it's optional
in fact you can set up the maps like a safeguard mission where you have to protect the portal to start with, they may never make it into your base (unless you wait too long, again, like the safeguard missions) -
Just thought of another idea for bases... I havent read the bajillion threads on it so its probably already been covered.
if a SG member is on line, and not on a mission, have the base raided by NPCs, where as the warning bells would go off and the SG has to rush back to the base to defend it from the intruders, maybe make it something similar to a radio mission. At the same time this would allow the most ranking member/team leader to choose whether to accept it as a "mission" or not. (not sure if that was a coherent enough thought or not)
