    You were saying something about 100% reliabilty Mac.?
    "That -TP power" is travel suppression. Being such a master at zone PvP, surely you haven't forgotten about that. You know, that power which triggers when attacked or attacking that completely disables your ability to teleport? I remember coming across a flying AR/EM on my MM (who only has SS!), webbing him, and then tagging him with Darkest Night. Bam, there go both of his travel powers. Easy kill. Best part is, he kept coming to me and dying.

    People choose SS and SJ because they offer the combination of the best combat horizontal and vertical movement. Sure, TP is great if you are trying to get away (and aren't tagged with a toggle debuff or being spiked, which is exactly when you'd want to get away), but it's a piss-poor travel power for staying with a fight. TP has a grand total of one use in organized PvP: TPing yourself out of a pool or dumpster in an arena match if the other team is lucky enough to catch you in one, which doesn't happen often because you've got enough horizontal/vertical movement to get yourself away from a bad spot before you actually get grounded.

    I like how you are trying to claim that you did not, indeed, die as many times as everyone is saying, yet Con told you exactly where he killed you, and how many times. Sorry, but I'll believe that over "He's lying, I swear!" Somehow, I'd find it much less likely that the guy who is actually capable of competitive PvP is making things up, then the guy who is claiming that TP and Fly are just as viable as SS and SJ without offering any proof of that.

    Like I said, find 7 PvPers other than yourself who have TP and Fly and are willing to run an 8v8. This really is one of those "put up or shut up" situations. And don't say "oh, come to RV and see how we run" because using zone PvP (especially after I13) to justify skill, or anything else PvP-related, is lolzworthy.

    41 is enough to stop just about anything short of Force Bolt. You'll need at least 45 to stop that. Regarding repel, there really isn't a way to stop repel short of spending inf on PvP IO sets to get the "chance for repel protection" set bonuses.

    Are you really trying to tell me that 5 kills in 3 hours in the busiest zone in the game is a good statistic? Try harder, please.

    What I meant in my post btw the way Mac, was that I was waiting on you to find a toon to TP with me
    And what I meant, and meant the entire time I was suggesting such a match, is that you find seven others who are willing to subject themselves to such a match. There is no way I'd even take TP as a travel power on a joke PvE build, much less a PvP build. It's a downright terrible travel power in PvE, and travel suppression makes it useless in PvP unless you have something else to go with it.

    Here's the thing about PvP strategies in this game: if they work reliably almost 100% of the time, people use them. If they don't work reliably the same amount, people don't use them. Perhaps this says something about the ratio of SS/SJers to Fly/TPers.

    Now realizing how slow you are to pick up on even the simplest things however... I imagine i will now wait on some other player that is actually smart... and not one who's been convinced by others.
    Good luck with that. Maybe we'll finally have a match by the time I25 rolls around.

    I do understand if the challenge is too dificult for you. Letting go of the same tried and true approach for years on every single toon may be difficult for some. In you though I see someone who wishes to join me in saving so many lost souls from thinking that Hibernate and Phase are the only way to evade several opponents.

    I know you dislike my posts moreso than my skills Mac. I tell no Lies.

    My Traps/DP defender is now on freedom btw... I rarely get the chance to PL so give me a minute... I welcome any and all who wish to join me in talking PvP as we level up our TPing Trappers.
    Wow, you're awful sure of yourself for someone who just got farmed on Freedom again today. Waiting on me for an 8v8? If you're on now, or anytime in the next few hours, I'm pretty sure I can find enough to field several matches. I'm not worried about having enough to field a team, but I am worried about whether or not you will.

    Sidenote: please let me know how evasion on a fly/TP toon goes when you're webbed and perma-suppressed.

  6. For someone who left before I13 hit, even the busiest times in Freedom RV would seem dead.

    Basically, PvP got taken out back and beaten up with the nerfbat about a year and a half ago. Lots of PvPers left and the population hasn't really recovered. Freedom RV and Freedom arena "seem" busy because most PvPers from other servers consolidated there thanks to free transfers over the last few months.

    END 0 <----> 100%

    I think in this system, buffers aren't meaningless. I'm also on the bandwagon that there should be a cap on the amount of buff you can get though from external sources, and that the higher same type buff just trumps a preexisting weaker buff.

    Defenders - Give Defenders Blaster Defiance 1.0. Since Defender damage is pretty bland. And everyone likes to go after the defender. This could help them out somewhat but not over power them.

    DMG Cap <----> Base
    HP 0 <----> 100%

    Tanks(arena only) - The longer a tank stays alive or is not attacked the more damage they can do. So a timer(in background) or bar(for end user) continually increases a tanks damage potential(they would need to increase a tanks dmg modifier or cap to make this meaningful) and does not stop filling up until they are brought down to like 25% health.

    Brutes -Reverse Fury in PvP. Start Brutes at full Fury, and the more damage they take reduce their damage potential.

    All Melees - Increase travel speed by like 10% or Reduce Range travel speed by 10%

    Maybe this can help solve the "only spike squishy syndrome" that we've had since day one in arena.
    ...No. Just no.

    Threads like this are an example of why we will never have meaningful changes made to PvP again. While most PvPers can agree that I13 as a whole is really, really bad, we can't seem to agree on fixes to it other than "revert back to I12." There are some parts of I13 that are good (I like global resistances in the epic/patron shields, for example) to one person that aren't to another, and unfortunately I don't see anything changing, mechanics-wise. We've been dealing with a more-or-less broken PvP system for a year and a half now. What makes anyone think things are going to change, and especially for the better? I've more or less stopped asking for anything other than bugfixes because I'd rather deal with the ****** system we have now than have it messed up again.
  8. I am still waiting for that 8v8 against Dahjee's flying/TPing squad.
  9. Musing here: I suggest everyone buy up Decimations, Devastations, and Apocalypses to resell for all the people leveling DP characters over double XP weekend.

    This is funny, because you were doing the exact same thing earlier in this thread. Keep piling up the hypocrisy please, it makes you look good. Regardless of where this discussion has been and is going, it's laughable at best because it's on the topic of zone PvP, which has been downright terrible since I13.

    EDIT: Just zoned into Virtue RV for the second time today. Total of 4 heroes on /search: 3 Scrappers and a Tanker. Further investigation revealed they were standing under the statue of Atlas, fiteklubbing a Stalker. Wait, a Blaster just zoned in, but now all the Scrappers are going to go fiteklub in the arena. Rofl.

    Here's the thing, as many people have said: a Stalker is not going to two-shot a squishy if the target is moving (they'll be out of range of followup attacks by the time AS goes off). If they're standing still, sure... but what that's resulted in is a situation where people who are able to play well suffer because of those who can't. Moving is the simplest thing you can possibly do in this game but apparently they're not simple enough.
  14. A+ thread, would read again.

    (You talk kind of big for someone who came to Freedom, died a lot because you took a terrible travel power, and then transferred back to lolvirtue.)

    EDIT: On the topic of lolvirtue, I just brought my EM/WP Stalker into RV, AS'd a few fiteklubbers who then complained for a while. Invited a Mind/Fire to the team, spent the next half hour or so chasing the half-dozen Scrappers (lol!?) out of the zone.

I think that as long as Double *** can take out a target (which it can and still will be able to) then everything is "ok".
    The problem here is that it breaks the assumption that every AT should be able to get a solo kill. Hell, even a Brute, which is kind of lol in PvP these days as anything other than a tauntbot, can manage a solo kill simply because they're putting out a relatively even amount of damage during the entire fight. A Stalker's damage is only decent when coming out of hide (AS, crit attacks, etc.), which means that once you've burned your first attack, placated, and used your follow-up attack, you're going to be in for a rough time if you don't get the kill. When AS, your most powerful attack, only takes off 1/3-1/2 of someone's health, there's no way you'll be able to finish the kill unless they're AFK or just stupid, because a Stalker is so squishy outside of hide.

    AS works slightly better against targets not running resist-based shields, or targets who haven't built for +HP. I managed to one-shot a Controller with AS in RV last night - target had only the base 1017 HP and all 3 procs in AS went off (a very rare occurrence as I'm not using the PvP IO proc but rather the ToD proc which only has a 15% chance to fire) for a total of 1052 damage. That won't happen often (in fact, it's the first time I've managed to do that), but it's kind of unfortunate that I need to resort to expensive procs in order to do any decent damage with AS even while hidden. The problem here is that unless your target is AFK, just plain stupid, or didn't build for at least some HP (which isn't all that common, even among casual PvPers/PvEers), you won't be getting solo kills.

    I agree with most of what you've suggested but some seem odd. I like the idea of PvP merits but only if they're added in conjunction with the current drop system (similar to pool C/D recipes now: you can buy or roll for them with merits or they will in rare cases drop off bosses).

    It's not, really, that's the thing. You may have to work a bit more for your kills as you need to be in melee range, but you have pretty crazy damage output once you're there, and if you play right you should almost never die (and it doesn't take even an intelligent player to stay alive, just one that knows how to run).
