There are times when I wish rep was still enabled, this is one of those times.
I don't really get this. I mean, whoever is doing Castle's old job can't really ignore PvP post-I13 more than Castle did. -
The very fact that PvP IOs are available for purchase from alignment merit vendors (despite several complaints during the closed beta) is proof that the developers are sticking to their guns and continuing to **** all over PvP and the PvP population.
(Why can I not trade in my rep for purples? It's the exact same idea.) -
Not even a mention of PvP? That's cool, I guess.

It's a cheap purple set if nothing else, and it's not like you're going to be taking more than four powers from your primary anyways. Might as well take it and slot it.

Even with the retarded post-I13 slow rules, Grav/Kin can ruin anyone's day.

I estimate I have about 40 billion in storage on my characters, which does not include value locked up in base bins or slotted on characters (the number would probably be double that if it did). I don't use global email, and I don't use the market, as I no longer play and don't want my inf to disappear once my subs lapse.

I find your ideas intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
(Also, please don't give me credit for trying to get PvP un-******, because it makes me look back on how stupid I was to think I could actually get some dialog going and have some changes made.)
...
There's a saying that goes something like "as long as people are still arguing with you, or trying to help you, there are still people that care." We tried - we fought the good fight, gave logical reasons why the majority of the I13 changes were bad, tried to get organized PvP going. However, there comes a point when even the people who put the most time and effort into things decide it's not worth it anymore. This used to be one of the most fun, dynamic, and interesting subforums on these boards, once you got past the requisite trash-talking, but over the last two years it's withered and died. I guess two years of almost no progress being made will do that. Somehow I can't say I'm surprised. -
Fire/Energy is surprisingly good, though the one downside is that the target needs to be on the ground for Flashfire to work. Earth/Energy can accomplish much of the same thing but Stalagmites works even if your target's jumping/flying/whatever.

The only PvP-specific "improvements" that have been made in the last two years are the addition of the "no heal decay" option and some bugfixes. You can add a turbocharger and racing tires to a Yugo, but it's still a Yugo, and comparing it to a Porsche is both ludicrous and delusional.

If you're ever bored, just open the avatar itself in a new window and refresh it a lot.
Now I'm sad, because the characters with the ability to pay base rent for the SG and VG bases I have my PvP IOs stored in are on my second account, which has been cancelled. -

None of the people on your list play anymore, and there has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Quote:If something having to do with PvP is completely ******* stupid, odds are I13 is to blame.I remember that they implemented that Defender debuffs would be unresistable in PvP some time back, maybe I must have missed a note in a patch that removed that from PvP once again. I suppose that must explain why my shelved Rad/Psi can never seem to slow anything anymore

Quote:1. Fossilize is stupidly good, especially when powered by Rage, and is pretty much the only reason to go Earth. Mace is good for webnades (so you aren't limited to 6 uses or whatever the arena temp gives you), and FA is helpful for hitting high-defense/elusivity characters.Hm. I can get why you'd take Earth Mastery, the immob and hold end up doing some decent damage because of their cast times right? Why Mace Mastery? You get Focused Accuracy in that, I guess?
What's the general consensus on decent brute secondaries anyways? I'd put my bet on /fire. I can't really think of anything else aside maybe /willpower? Except WP has that useless toggle. What about primaries dueling wise? SS seems okay, with Rage I guess you could forgo Mace Mastery and pick up Earth in its place since you really wouldn't need FA that bad then.
If so, and it's not a good idea to be building up damage sets, then what? +hp/rech/accuracy, and I generally don't go balls deep for purples so would you say Crushing Impacts are a good general set for melee attacks? Tit Coatings for res powers for +Hp and so on? I'd reckon Alpha slot for the Recharge boost would be rather handy.
2. If you're going to roll a Brute you might as well make it Fire. Healing Flames is one of the best self-heals in the game, Fiery Embrace helps if you're trying to push out lots of damage really fast, and it gets a little more slow resistance than most other sets. Elec's decent too, but the long recharge on the self-heal slows it down a bit. WP is passable at best, and the rest of the secondaries aren't all that good (to the point where Energy is basically like playing without any secondary at all).
3. HP is extremely important in PvP 2.0. Get your accolades, try to shoot for 2200+ HP if you can. Recharge is somewhat important, as is acc, but you won't need much acc bonus if you're running Rage, and especially not if you're running FA on top of that. -
I like how this thread hasn't been locked or deleted yet. If it were any other subforum...

Quote:lol aid self on an elecHi rawr, it's absolute
I tried an EM/EA brute once, put a few billion in it, and it failed. Stripped and deleted. EM's damage really isn't that good. ET and TF is alright against squishies but against won't do too much against anything melee. I don't think i've ever seen a good EM melee, except a tank, but that was back a few years, either when i wasn't very good or pre ET nerf.
The only way i could see this working is aiming for a bit of +acc and taking the Mu mastery. Hit them with some Mu attacks, use power sink and summon the Mu pet. And have taunt incase they go after the pet.
EM/Ele/fitness/speed/fighting/medicine/mu
I could see that working a bit, drain people's end with Mu lighting/Electric fences/Pet/power sink while using aid self to stay alive long enough. That's basically going to be my tactic once my ss/ele hits 50, he's only 42. GL with it
If you're going to be dueling on a Brute, you take either Mace Mastery or Earth Mastery. It really is that simple.
(This is the guy that lost a no-inspires duel against a Blaster on an SS/Fire Brute with Aid Self, so following his build advice is usually a really bad idea.)
