I have done some number crunching and I am 105% sure that my Energy Melee / Stone / mace brute destroys ss or claws. Add in flurry and sands of Mu, its freaking amazing. Build up and Whirling hands does insane damage, and it looks kick *** in granite. On top of all of that you get the killer BEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO POP! sound effect from Energy Transfer. TOTAL WIN.

For a fun FA, run with FA/Claws brute. I slotted for both recharge and defense, every little bit from both helps. Just got mine to fifty last week. Got a purple drop running council right after I dinged. Its a fun fast set, for me it is like the regen set of the tanks/brutes. Claws does a good job of building quick fury, and you have freaking claws.

I have a lvl 50 Fire Axe that I love. The rikti Axe is freaking sweet. I slot Swoop for knock up. Why? Why would I slot Knock up? Because I love being in a giant mob of angry baddies and seeing one pop 20 feet in the air every once in a while. Before they fixed burn I had several slotted for knock back, just to keep the mobs on their backs. So much knock back I felt like Sauron knocking herds of baddies with one swipe. Fire kept them taunted fairly well, leaving me enough time for healing flames. Now that they have adjusted fire, I have removed most of the knock-back, but I still have one for giggles.

Malta and Carnies are both a pain, I have a macro setup that will target sappers, ring mistress, and cim healers. Malta can be really bad, sometimes if they spam enough tazer hits will stun a tank. Do you have touch of fear? Fantastic dark power that some people skip, it basically renders a particular enemy useless.
Personally I hate the eyeballs in rulu, for whatever reason they drive me crazy. -
Just make the wand convert attack an AOE, so you can take save a group all at once. Either that or increase the recharge of the wand. It feels like a big waste of time waiting around for the wand to recharge after you have run the mish a bunch of times.

My Inv/ele is alot of fun but the damage is meh. Fire might be a good option. You can make INV totally badass, I have a love for the original sets so it is one I play often.

Finduilas, I love your build. I applied what you had done here with Energy to my Electric/INV tank and it was amazing. I had nearly 37% eng/ng defence. Typically in an ITF I had problems with the Crystal sections, with all the dwarfs / novas etc, but after taking your build advice, I was able to walk in with no prob. There was another INV tank on our team, and he wiped 2x from the crystal sections, I would run in and taunt the room and save his butt. I think I am pretty close but could you post a similar build for Electric melee/Inv?
You know what the silly part is? I have an energy melee/inv tank nearly the same lvl. Altitus is killing me, but I love INV. -
From what I have found, speed is king for /fire. It is amazing the damage you do, the faster the better. I like using claws, I use focus to keep specific targets on the ground, and then burn, spin and eviscerate. Burn, quickly run through claw powers, burn, healing flames, and maybe consume. Typically this takes out most of the lower levels. More defense is nice, a good balance I think is best. Be sure to knock down the psy attacker first.

Well no matter what, I will run this toon to 20, just to see how it works out. What pairs well with KM? All the ones I have seen are willpower...

I created this toon last night for fun, and so far it has been a ton of fun. Went from 1-7 in around thirty mins. My big concern is little synergy between the sets, but it does fit with my character concept.
So what do you think? How is Kin Melee? Would it work well with dark? -

Oblit in consume? How well does that work? Do you get decent damage or are you just going for set bonus?

I've built up both recharge and also Energy/Ranged defense (Eng Def is up to 33.28% now at level 45) and he can absolutely MAUL +2/8 level Rikti missions in the warzone mission after mission. But, throw him into a +1/8 mission full of Longbow and dammmmn. Rise of the Pheonix gets used a lot more...

Any thoughts on how to IO a Firey Aura brute out?

It only gets better with burn and consume. Add tough, weave, and a few kinetic combat sets its is amazing fun.

Claws/Fire is freaking great. I love to hop into a group rock out my claw attacks, then burn and then heal. A few groups later throw in consume to get endo back. It is a very endo heavy set, but thats what hero merits are for. I have slotted a miracle + recovery, and one set of 4 kinetic combat. Fire is pretty weak, so IO's make a big difference. I can slot some reactive armor when I hit 37 that will help as well.
My favorite brute so far. -
I have mine to 32, fu is freaking great with burn and spin. Typically I enter battle, target a lieu or boss, swipe-strike-fu-spin-burn-heal. This gets the fury up very fast. Burn and Healing flames make you retract your claws/redraw, so it is nice to pair them when possible. I like having both swipe and strike, they are very fast, so one is always up and ready. Focus is also great and follow up too.
Burn + Fury + FU = amazing
No Fiery embrace yet, but I will get it asap.
I have not slotted burn much yet, and I was hitting ~125 damage per person in area plus damage over time at lvl 32 or so.
This is one of the fastest leveling toons I have ever had. Stamina, consume, and any endo IO bonus you can find. I doubt I will take eviscerate, I may take shock-wave for damage mitigation. -
For my scrappers, brutes, and tanks;
Instead of hurdle, health, and stamina before twenty:
Kick/punch, Tough, and Weave....
