Well at first yes
but he did get asked some more serious questions. Which, if memory serves, he avoided and then left.

You know that the US can't send us messages here either right?

Turns out that BaB actually tried posting here. Before my time, sadly, and he left because of the majority being...inhospitable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not inhospitable, more questioning. We just wanted some answers to some simple questions. Since BaB was unwilling to say anything on the points that people raised and instead skirted around odd things. People got annoyed. Post where made, post counts went up. BaB fled for the states.
War Witch doesn't post on here like she used to, and she got a very warm reception.
Also on the point that FFM made about why he doesn't post as much. I too find myself posting less on general threads as I have been leaning towards bitterness and it just makes me sound like a whinning pomme. So instead of constantly posting negative posts, and belive me some things I have been going to post were very negative, I have posted nothing. -
Just to be less vauge and put another reply on the same page. We are looking at adding reviews to the site. Nice big drawn out reviews and can't decide on the format or access. So we decided to ask what people want (even less like a dev
) The options are
<ul type="square">[*] All purpose access the same as comments. [*] Restricted to reviewers. This would be a requested status, so you would sign up and then ask for it. Any abuse could then have the status removed from the abuser.[/list]Also the layout of said reviews, we were thinking along the lines of
High Points - Example "Great dialogue, custom group was brilliant"
Low Points - Example "why all the pink? the custome group was a blur of pink"
Synopsis - Something like the tl;dr that is currently being used in the review threads.
Played with - What AT/Build the reviewer used, if they used a team, etc.
Main Review - the big text block. -
Noo not dev. please anything but dev.. I'll.. I'll.. I'll leak information about upcomming shinies from the site.. Ha That will disprove my dev-ish ness.
-
I should mention that there is a good reason for it being hidden at first, but more on that later.
-
Ah I see what you mean. Ok fair nuff.
-
You mean to the user arc list? The User page takes you there.
-
Oops. I thought it was. I blame emo and his "meh!" method of checking things.
-
Thats fixed now, typo in the sql statement.

With regard to planned events for 28th.
I have a hunch the devs have thier own in game event planned, and are trying very hard to keep it secret.
It could cause disruption.

Who wants to lay bets on a Rikti Invasion complete with motherships?
Or a 5th Column invasion complete with giant zeppelin's?

How much do you want to bet on an all star, star spangled party, all comers welcome, with maybe a surprise attack at the end. Just come to Pocket D on Freedom.

Oh, don't be so cynical. It will be on the test server so everyone can take part...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeees.. the US test server. Which will probably crash due to being overworked.
Just because I am cynical, pesemistic and have a bleak outlook on life, doesn't mean I am wrong. -
New update to the site. There is a fair few little tweaks, some are for bugs, most are for style. I have abandoned the idea of not doing Patch Notes. So here are the patch notes
Addtion of short urls for missions.- It is now possible to use the url www.cityofguides.com/nn to display a mission. (where nn is the mission number).
Alteration of site styling.
The site has been given a makeover. It should look to the majority of people exactly the same as it was previous with some small alterations.
The site is now sized for a minimum resolution of 1024x786. When viewing at this resolution nothing should be lost from the screen.
Some of the lists have been altered in what they show to incorporate the new styling.
Images and styles have been rejigged to allow viewing with an increased browser zoom. Tested in FF 3.0.4 (linux), FF 3.0.8 (Vista 32), Chrome 1.0.154.48, IE7
Menu has been reduced in size to optimise the main viewing area.
Mission Architect has become MA in the side menus, this is so it fits in the new width and doesn't break the styling.
Superflous background image has been removed.
Added new images to the background.
Increased the size the author comments box for easier entry.
Increased the size of the comments box for easier entry.
Comments restyled to be easier to read and have the ratings stand out more.
Addition of counter script to text boxes.
Addition of the optional fields to the mission view.
Addition of version number to the mission edit.
Addition of version number to the mission view.
Addition of counters to the author notes and comment text boxes to show remaining characters.
Comments.
It is no longer possible to comment on your own arc, this is what the author notes section is for.
The comment box has been enlarged to allow easier entry of comments.
Missions.
All sorts are now secondarily sorted on arc id. So a sort on author will give a sort first by author and then by arc id.
Under the hood changes to database queries for optimisation of queries and sorts.
Don't think there is anything missing, but you know how patch notes are
oh and 3dent, give it a go with magnification now. Should be better. -
I think the best example of "Soon" has got to be the task force that was removed from faultline sometime in beta. It was dubbed "returning soon" and never reappeared. Now that the zone has been renovated, I don't think it is due for a reappearance.

I like the random idea.
Some that I have been throwing around with Emo.
Missions that share tags/options like the ones you have submitted.
Missions that share tags/options like ones you have rated highly.
Missions from authors that you have rated highly.
When you log in the user page has a "why not try?" type mission that is selected from the oldest arcs not reviewed/longest since review/just oldest. -

There is a downside to that method. When there is a lot of arcs, lets say 200. (there is already over 100 listed on the site) Anyone not hitting the site from a fast connection will get a blank page as it will time out. Ideally I would drop the pagination as it is extra code, but we have to think about people that access via dial up, slow broadband or even mobile broadband. We could up the number per page, but that just moves the problem on.
I am open to suggestions for throwing older arcs up the list. We are looking at a couple of options at the moment but can't decide how they would work or even if they would work. -
Bit of a warning, it's just been pointed out to me that you can delete an arc from CoG with a single click. Someone, Emo, forgot to add the You Sure? page. Any arcs deleted in this way are not lost as I can recover them so if you do delete one by accident email me and I can put it back.

Please, if you can, also try out the magnification function in the Opera.
[/ QUOTE ]
We are working on the site style to address several issues, magnification is one, and we think we may have come up with an interesting fix. At least it works up to maximum zoom levels on our test box so far. -
By the way. Emo is looking at adding a review entry to CoG, which will take the form of a more drawn out entry than just a comment. So it will be possible to enter them there as well.
Although I do agree with listing them in multiple places. -
Error! on CoG
Just out of interest what is the message? -
Should have mentioned this earlier really but you can do a short url to a mission. by just putting the mission id after the .com part of the url. For example Imoba_Strife's link could have been shown as
http://www.cityofguides.com/60
edit: also you can use www.cityofguides.co.uk if you really want to as well -
It would be a cut down version of the one that GrinningSpade suggested here
-
That's where I thought it would be, but no its not there. Its got to be somewhere otherwise "Adventures in the land of n00b" will die a death.
-
Just a note. The extra slot is not the same one you get at level 20. So when you get to 20 you can have an additional slot as well. Mucho costumos. Although I have yet to use any of the additional slots as I like the armour.
