After you approach diminishing returns slotting Stamina for end mod, the proc from Performance shifter will give you more endurance over time making it extremely useful in Stamina. That alone puts Performance Shifter over Efficiency Adaptor for use in Stamina.

Secondly, there is the loss of enhancement potential by pursuing bonuses while sacrificing relevant enhancement. Using the Acc/End Mod rather than a generic End Mod means about 3% less recovery in exchange for about 20 more hit points. For /kin, that's a trade off I would consider, but typically I prefer the additional recovery. The minute amount of regeneration from Efficiency Adaptor is even less appealing on an AT with a smaller hp pool.

I, and many others, see the choice to opt out of inherent stamina as pretty quixotic, even cringe inducing. If you used Stamina before, as I have on every character barring a single dominator, then you are gaining additional options and choices with the availability of 3 more power picks and perhaps an additional pool available. For people expounding the importance of making choices, it is puzzling to see them not recognize how this offers more choice for the majority with little downside for a small minority.

The only reasonable argument against the inherent Fitness pool I have heard, and one I still find dubious, is that it affects how players move. Swift adds just a pinch over 5 mph to runspeed, a little more than Accelerate Metabolism. In all my years of playing, I have never seen anyone avoid AM because of the way it alters movement speeds, but when this debate comes up people raise this issue. Hurdle offers a more significant change, but one that from my experience I've always found beneficial. I, for one, hate getting hang up when jumping over fences and the resultant slide up and down it's length.
  3. Well, if you started in the Rogue Isles, you may notice some difficulty with Arachnos mobs that have psi-defense though it's limited to specific mobs like Fortunatas. Dominator's controls share the same accuracy as Controllers' and their ranged and melee are typical in accuracy as well. If anything I would expect one to feel less of a need for accuracy with Mind Control as many of its powers have an accuracy modifier of 1.1 or 1.2 and they bypass all types of defense barring psi.

As for you build in general, I would highly considering hasten and slotting your controls with additional recharge. A dominator's defense is solely in their ability to lock down enemies. Domination will assist you with endurance management as well as making your controls stronger and longer, meaning more endurance is available for defeating your foes. With that in mind, Hasten is essential. The only way to increase Domination's up time is with Hasten and global recharge bonuses.

Also, bear in mind that by eschewing Levitate and Telekinetic Thrust you've limited yourself to a single damage type that when resisted is highly resisted. Mobs that are already problematic due to psi-defense will become even more probleamtic because they often have psi-resistance as well. Carnies and Arachnos will be very cumbersome to fight.
  4. On your defense build, are you also considering Earth's Embrace? As a heal it isn't necessary, given /rad already provides that, but it also offers a means to cap your hp if your recharge can make the buff perma. In some ways, having more hit points is akin to extra resistance.
  5. Patience... the controller boards are slow and thoughtful.

Permanent mez protection is very nice for a rad. Reapplying toggles can eat up a good bit of your time if you get mezzed. It's a bit more painful if you are an ice/rad or elec/rad and an extra part of your mitigation is shut down with a mez. Earth, at least, can offer mitigation via Earthquake and Volcanic Gases while you're held or slept. So perma-IW may not be as vital to this build as some others.

As for softcapped smashing/lethal, it does prevent a lot of incoming attacks. Unfortunately, it tends not to stop incoming mezzes which are often exotic types such as psi, negative energy, and cold. Of course, if you have reasonable defense to other types as well, coupled with the -tohit debuffs in Radiation Infection and Earthquake, you might avoid a lot of mezzes.

At this point, I could go either way. Without the context of the rest of the build, it's a difficult question to answer.
  6. I've never considered any of the characters that I use the Leadership pool on leaders. Maybe it would have been more thematic to call the pool Teamwork.

Endurance drain is affected by level scaling just like damage, debuffs, and mez durations.

Also, Gremlins in ice do look cool. I had a level bumped Elec/Cold in beta. If nothing else, it was pretty.

This really makes me want to run it without the alpha slot first.
  10. I think the vast majority of players would be somewhere between ambivalent and ecstatic if they toned down the visuals on Hasten. For folks, that like it and would argue to keep the current visual... send 'em to the moon.
  11. I don't track badges, but I find this immensely useful for exporting builds if I intended to alter a minor detail. Good work guys.

Hmm, I've never pvp'ed much on the Dominator side of things, but a little research seems to indicate that Domination makes all mez durations unresistible. This could give a Dominator a significant edge as a disruptor. Mind could take a distinct advantage of this with the fact the holds, confuse, and knockback all suppress on different timers. A controller may have a more difficult time leveraging this as their controls would be resisted.
  13. I find it to be a good entertainment value. For $15 a month, I could maybe see one or two new movies, maybe stretch that to 4 matinees if I have a weekday off. I could buy other games, but those don't offer the same longevity. My roommate drops $40-$60 on a new console game every month. I could buy a book or two, but have access to the public library. I suppose that only answers how I justify the subscription.

Why do I keep coming back? Hmm... for one I really like the freedom in creating characters here. The setting is fairly loose and allows a lot of different ideas to incorporated into it as opposed to more specific sci-fi or fantasy games. The costume creator is great and power customization is quickly catching up. I like the gameplay, specifically the Control powersets, which I find most other games tend to skimp on or make secondary to other roles. I haven't even explored all the different AT's yet, let alone powersets.

Ultimately though it goes back to how much I loved comics when I was younger. It's just fun to be part of that world.
  14. You guys forgot to include EMP Arrow and Liquify.

A corrected statement: All AoE holds from a Control Primary have the same 240 second recharge.
  15. Just you, I'm afraid. All the AoE holds have the same 240 second recharge.

*Your definition of easier may vary.
Until very recently the lack of pets wouldn't have mattered in Siren's Call as it capped at 30. Prior to that Mind hardly lacked control especially against player targets. A few armor sets were vulnerable to Confusion and Fear or both. I13, however, replaced all protection with resistance and Mind lost the advantage of somewhat exotic mezzes.

I would say at some points Mind was a good set for pvp, however, it has suffered from some changes. TK, once a very good pvp power, was choked by limitations; more and more knockback protection has limited the usefulness of Levitate; as previously mentioned, changes in mez mechanics made Mind's unique mezzes less appealing. The rise of Fortunatas and Widows with their high Psi defense also chipped away at an advantage Mind control once held, that is circumventing most defenses.

I occasionally take my Mind Controller into Bloody Bay for Shivans. I certainly don't start marauding across the zone, but it does disrupt attackers well enough let me escape and go about my business.

I know people love Order of the Stick, but that is an atrocity.

Honestly, I'm not much of a comic reader these days. The last time I picked up a mainstream book I was slapped in the face (slap in the face!) with blocks of text over mediocre art. Really nice artwork that's integrated well with the dialog and narration is probably more of an exception than the rule. In my opinion, if they story doesn't read mostly without the words, then it's becoming a problem. Comics are a visual medium. If you're going to throw a wall of text at the reader you may as well be writing a short story.

Here's a page from Gunnerkrigg Court, a webcomic that started out pretty rough, but the artist has really come into his own. This isn't one of his best pages, but it does exemplify a good text to image ratio.

Or a page from A Lesson is Learned... in which the dialog is as much a part of the image as the characters.

Anyway, in regard to Sin's work, I don't find it too dense with text. There are a few spots that it leans toward being overwhelmed with words, but the tools you are working with make it a bit difficult to always show rather than tell. Using pre-rendered images is in some ways like sprite comics. I think you did a good job with the medium.

Static Field doesn't take End Mod IO sets, right? Such a shame.

By the way, what kind of stun are we talking about? As in, what are the magnitude and duration?

    Thanks a lot!
I believe it's mag 2 for 8 seconds. Overall, they're not very good, but if you want to use them then Chain Fences and Jolting Chain are the places they'd have the best chance to fire provided you spam those powers.

Also you, sir, are the greatest monster history has ever known.
  20. I just hit 50 with my mind/nrg dom today. With the thought that i19 would be here long before I made any significant progress with her I decided to skip Fitness. I can honestly say I'm glad I'll never have to do that again. I used the empowerment buffs and temp powers a lot to make up for my lack of stamina before hitting perma-dom. Even afterward, I found it very easy to drain my blue bar before domination recharged. This was with a mostly single target attack chain and running only Tactics.

/Psi certainly helps with endurance management with Drain Psyche. It's undoubtedly the best secondary if you're thinking about skipping stamina.

I like it. The animation is expressive and smooth. Looking at the old ponies, well, they're kind of rigid. And the sea ponies are just creepy weird.

Oh look, now you've done it.

    Also, pony quiz!

  23. It's difficult for me to say this. I never liked My Little Pony. I never even watched My Little Pony. Like most American males in my generation I was enamored with G.I. Joe, Transformers, or even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My Little Pony was for girls.

Twenty some years later the ponies have returned... to steal my heart. Confound you ponies!

Oh yeah, I forgot the important stuff. It's a new series and... it's not bad. You can find the episodes on youtube, but the Hub (the network that is carrying) has the first episode up here. Apparently Lauren Faust, the producer, also had a part in making the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. So if you enjoyed those there's a chance you might like this.

Any advice from someone who has taken this power and slotted it?
It only has an 8 foot radius. That's melee range only. It requires a tohit check and only does 3.67 points of damage. It's pretty bad, in my experience.

Assuming you only have one slot, Group Invis is a nice pick for a little added defense for the team and a place for a LotG: recharge. It's not a necessary power by far, but definitely my choice between the two.
  25. I get the first costume "too right". They don't enter the tutorial until I like their look. The problem comes when I unlock another costume slot and can't come up with something. Sometimes, I'll make a good looking costume but it just doesn't fit the feel of the character.
