Quote:Thanks for the fab part and guessing maybe it helpedI have tweaked jshmoe's fab (thanks for that!) build to remove the PVP IO (can't afford it!) and buff up the defense without it so everything is softcapped if you have 1-2 enemies in range ~ 38%. I can think of very few situations where this is not the case. I am a bit worried that this build will have more end issues than jshmoe's, but I'm hoping that with Dark consumption up frequently and conserve power, it will not be an issue. Here's the modded build:
[/b]
You won't have unplayable end issues if you are teaming or even solo going at a somewhat moderate pace. Dark Consumption will be up enough and you have Conserve Power. But you WILL have end issues if you decide you want to take on AVs and Pylons so I don't recommend that. In fact, I'd be impressed if you could do it because I don't think it'd be possible, without blues anyways.
This is a good tweak to bring it down to a respectable range in influence spending. I found these to powersets together to uncanny survivability and even at these defenses and with the recharge, you'll be quite pleased how little you have to look at your health bar :P -
Hello gang. I'm currently trying to build an elec/sd scrapper and I'm having some troubles about some goals and achievements.
First off, I'd like to know what can I expect from this combination? At first thought I think damage, damage and more damage, but I'm curious to what things i need focus on to make sure I have a nice tight build.
I plan on using IO sets and, outside of PVP IOs, influence isn't an issue. I do hope to be able to solo AVs and tear things up when I solo. So since I'm very unfamiliar with anything electric in this game I'd thought I'd ask some experts on the issue.
So what are some goals I need to keep in mind? I know that softcap is a given, but what about recharge, end, regen, attack chain options etc...
Last thing, I noticed that Electric drains end from the baddies and I'm curious if that is significant enough to keep in mind when building or should I just see it as a small perk?
Thanks in advance! -
This is the build I run with and I really enjoy. It pumps out a lot of damage with fairly high recharge and no end problems.
The four slots go in Subdual for the other Gravi Anchors.
I built it with teaming in mind but it's able to farm with great results. Maybe it will help with some ideas for yours. Let me know if you have any questions.

Quote:Funny I stumble upon this gem of a thread because I literally just logged off and the last thing I was doing was being the tank for a 54 boss farm on my DB/Invul scrapper. At the moment I'm working on leveling a fFire/SD scrapper (now you know why I was stalking the scrapper forums!), and it's my experience that the 53 lieutenant runs, while they seem faster, also seem to yield less experience/hr than a 52 boss run (I haven't actually put down any numbers to confirm that, may be wrong). They also require that you basically clear the map, which also takes longer, to hit the ticket limit. Ticket rewards basically fund a new character (without doing influence transfers anyway).
I have power leveled friends new characters in a specialty mission of 52 lieu's with SKs to level 45 to max out XP and I just solo everything, but thats a whole different situation. In a level like that I reckon most any well built AOE DPS class could outshine my tank.
Also, across the characters I've leveled in AE, I have yet to be in a successful group that didn't have a good tank. I've been in an incredibly fast group that had a fire/kin pulling to the group, but he was still pulling to a tank. That's personal experience. Yours and other people's may be different. Maybe I'm just not around when that totally super awesome scrapper or controller or defender is patiently putting together its tankless team and is basically soloing its way to glory.
The leader neglected to get a tank for whatever reason and a few people on the team mentioned it after the team filled up. The leader was about to switch to his tank and I noticed we had three trollers, including the leader, and figured that if things got too crazy there will be enough holds going to help out for random mob pulls.
Couple people scoffed but we went along nicely. Had a few mention it was going a lot better than they expected. We did have an occasional death here and there, but it was a very smooth running farm team.
A good team is a good team. This game does a great job not having to make clone teams where if you are missing one particular AT you are destined to fail. -
If you are a tanker and only take two of your primary powers and three travel powers...you might be an AE baby.
True story. -
Quote:This was my initial thought on the whole thing and was just curious if there was a game mechanic that I wasn't aware of.It really depends on how quick you are to jump into the group. If they see you coming and aggro before they're inside the aura (usually you can tell because they'll adopt a "Look! A hero!" stance), then they'll attack before you get your defense buff. The same applies if you aggro the spawn with a ranged or AoE power like Hurl or Taunt. But if you get into the spawn quickly enough, the debuff/taunt effects of Invincibility will "wake them up" and in this case you'll have the defense buff before they can attack you.
Thanks for the responses. -
I have a small question about Invincibility.
When jumping in the middle of a mob, will a critter's attack initiate before my defense increases or will I get the initial boost in defense first?
Basically, who goes first?
From play experience, I have an /inv that is soft capped when two baddies are in range and it seems they get the an initial hit in first and then everyone else starts missing a lot more often than not, but I was curious if there is some kind of number evidence of it. -
Hello fellow defenders. My roommate and I, Munkilord, will be running an all defender STF tonight on the Freedom server at 10 Central.
It's a first come first serve basis and we are hoping to get a full team to rock this thing.

No, it's not a leveling up build and it is a Respec build. I'm in the process of leveling this toon up while using SOs and eventually regular IOs and I make those builds in process of leveling. There's also more to my ways of building toons for me in this game, but don't feel like going into it because it's weird.
-
I bring this build for the next sacrifice to the scrapper gods on these forums.
I'm not looking to outright solo AVs(although the thought intrigues me), but I want to be able to hold my own on an AV with somewhat of a team backing me. I'm looking to be able to take alphas and if I feel like wandering I'll be able to hold my own.
Now, if I am close to being able to solo some AVs without having to revamp a whole lot, then maybe a little advice on that.
Thanks in advance!

I found it a lot of fun leveling up my Arch/Ment. It wasn't too bad soloing either.
With Blazing Arrow, Fistful of Arrows and then using Explosive Arrow for both it's damage and KB to get baddies off you it made things easy. Then being able to use Rain of Arrows to take off at least half their HPs before really fighting the baddies is always a plus.
I found using World of Confusion as a small mitigation tool along with Telekinetic Thrust to knock anyone that gets close to you. Drain Psyche can help with regen and recovery given the situation. I use Mental the most of all the secondaries in a blaster.
From 1 to 50 I enjoyed it. I never really felt "stagnant" during my leveling. IMO, it's a wonderful set for both solo and team.
With a blaster it can take a little more strategy than other ATs. Given the group dynamic will decide how you can play. There's a different style of play between solo'ing and teaming, but I think you can solo with any blaster. Just gotta know how to work with what you have. -
I haven't tried Grav but I have been thinking of trying it. From what I've been reading it seems that Grav doesn't really blossom until Wormhole. Is that a correct assumption?
-
Thank you for the wonderful responses.
Looking at it, I was worried that it would be a slow powerset. I have a feeling this isn't going to be for me, but I think I'm going to try it anyways. I could surprise myself. The idea of Gravity interests me so hopefully that will be enough to carry me along. -
I don't see a whole lot of Gravity controllers and I have never attempted it. I don't last long with controllers. I tend to lean towards blasters and scrappers. But I'm thinking of rolling one out but I'd like to know what I can expect from it. And is there a reason that I don't see it being used often?
If I were to choose it what would be a nice secondary to compliment it?
