    I can't log in!

it can take some time for the payment server and login server to synch. It sounds like you updated on Weekend, when nobody was in office to process the payment and reactivate the login.

if you can't login by Tuesday, contact customer service. Basically, give them a standard working day to process your account, which would be Monday.

Remember the line: "Any Technology sufficiently advanced is in-distinguishable from Magic"; or it's counter-part; any "Magic Sufficiently advanced is in-distinguishable from Technology".

It's talked about a bit in the Percy story-arc that some point there were a different set of origins, either greater or fewer, than the origins recognized today. Mutants, for example, were linked to the splitting of the first atom.

It's possible then that one of Daedaulus's super-powers is the ability to work with gadgets. He might not understand the exact details of why the device works, it's a black-box to him, but he understands how the device works, and he's able to get it to behave like he wants it to behave.

E.G. : I'm not a coder. I know HOW to write in Computer Code, and I know WHAT computer code does, and I know HOW it's supposed to operate, but if you asked me to re-write the physics engine of the game using OpenCL I'd give you a blank stare and have to go dive into some books for a few months.

However, I know HOW to fix computers. I know HOW to identify driver issues. I know HOW to identify Hardware issues. I know which tools and applications give me the most amount of useful detail in the shortest amount of time. I know WHAT to look for.

I thus can imagine putting myself in Daedalus's shoes, and for what he is, and what he's supposed to be, his ability to work with technology and magic is quite understandable.

Also: this one isn't as bad as breaking and entering, and I'm not familiar with the legal system enough to know, but is dressing up as though one were a member of a gang a punishable offense? 'Cause, throughout the lowbie zones, you can beat the snot out of various and sundry people for the crime of dressing up before Halloween.
Actually the devs have tried to address this one through the in-game mechanics, using both animations and the chat systems. Most of the low level enemies; Hellions, Skulls, Outcasts; that are "human" are normally either doing something that breaks the law, or are talking ABOUT breaking the law or causing trouble.

The non-human low-levels, the clockworks, are always taking stuff apart, and are attributed to a crime-wave that started before the events of Paragon City as the players encountered them start.

Of the other low-level enemies, the Vahzilok and the Circle of Thorns, they are also of an established criminal wave. Again though, the mob animations and chat dialog have been adjusted so that there's no confusion that these are simply people dressing UP as either villain group.

Incidentally, when was the last time you actually ran low level hero content?

    GG beat me to it.

Yes, in your avatar's storyline, Countess Crey is already a criminal by the time you get to Daedalus's arc. There is the issue that Daedulus could not KNOW that the Countess was out on bail, and nor could he have known about the Revenant Project, unless of course the player informed him of how evil and corrupt this Crey Corporation was. Such passage of information is not directly indicated in the Daedalus arc.

Yes, Daedalus does say the following before instructing you to hit the Crey warehouse:

    Quote:
    The files you gave me
These files could of course contain the background on the Crey Corporation... but they probably don't... as the clue that provides these files say:

    Quote:
These computer files describe a detailed plan for invading Cimerora! The Malta Group plans to use an experimental temporal flux device to create a rift through time that will enable them to send a large group of operatives back to Cimerora. While they won't be in communication with this invasion force, the Malta leadership is certain their forces will be sufficient to 'contain the Cimerora threat before it becomes a problem in our time.'

The rest of the file is filled with technical information on the temporal flux device. You think Daedalus should be able to make good use of the technical specifications.
Now, it is possible that the Malta have targeted the Crey Warehouse with explicit notes that one thing they can be sure of: a Thief won't ever call the cops.

So, the Daedalus arc is left up to the player either reading between the lines about how Daedalus gets his information, or there is one large anachronistic plothole.

ATi never released a Radeon 7800 card.

I think you mean the Mobility FireGL 7800: http://ati.amd.com/products/mobilityfgl7800/index.html

As I expected from the naming schema, this was based off of the Radeon 7500 graphics card: http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=98&pgno=1

The last driver to support these cards was the Catalyst 6.11 release: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...rer300-xp.aspx ... on Nov. 15, 2006

That was before the Catalyst OpenGL rewrite that arrived in 2007, which means your card only runs an OpenGL driver that actually makes Nvidia's driver sets look good.

Unfortantly, this means that CoH is probably not ever going to work on your card again, and it's not likely that the developers will ever implement a fix to make your card playable.

The Radeon 7000 series, and thus the Mobility FireGL 7800, was never supported to begin with.

There is one trick you could try though. From luminous martini: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=220618

    Quote:
    1. right click on CoH shortcut
    2. click on properties
3.click on shortcut tab at top
    4. go to target window "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
    5. after the last " press space once
    6. enter the following code exactly -useTexEnvCombine
    7. click on apply then ok
    8. right click on CoH then click run as admin.
This forces the game to use the same rendering path as Intel Integrated graphics.

Which may... or may not work.

    Thanks in advance.
    In theory... the scrapper: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Damage_Cap#Damage

Thing is scrappers get critical strikes, so while their base damage cap is lower than a brutes, 500% versus 850%, the scrappers effective critical damage is 500%x2, or 1000%

The big problem is that you'll rarely ever be at damage cap without outside support. Soul Drain's performance figures on a brute are actually lower than a scrapper's: 8% base / 40% base :: Scrappers do 10% base / 50% base.

Now, I honestly haven't run a DM brute and DM scrapper to 26 to compare figures, but on paper, the Scrapper's higher buff values are going to compensate for the Brute's Fury Advantage.

Then the scrapper's critical strikes add atop that.

So, in theory, the scrapper should deliver a more powerful punch.

    ***

In reality, I think the answer is both

The Brute's higher Hit point cap means it can stay in a fight longer, and the Fury generation will enable it to sustain a higher damage rate without relying on Soul Drain to generate some punch.

I have a few questions regarding a laptop that i bought. Its an HP dv6-1362nr with with an ATI mobility 4650. Here are the questions.

    1. It has an HDMI port, I assume I can Hook up to my 23 inch lcd tv that I use as a monitor, can this laptop handle the resolution of the bigger screen?
Yes and no. Yes, a RadeonHd 4650 can drive pretty much any resolution screen you throw at it in 2D.

No, don't expect it to render all of your games at 30frames per second at 1920*1080 (1080p).

You should be able to run CoH in non-ultra mode at that resolution though.

    Quote:
    2. If I do so will that count as a 2 screen setup? Laptop screen and Tv
The Catalyst Control center should let you configure it as such. Catalyst Control Center should also be capable of locking signal to one display or another. Your laptop may also have hard-wired controls to lock the signal to the external display or the laptop display only.

    Quote:
    3. the lap top also has a standard pc hookup, so could I use 2 monitors and laptop screen for a total of 3 screens?
Maybe, maybe not. Details are a bit sketchy on the implementation of the RadeonHD 4650 used in the notebook. In most cases, low-end cards will only support two displays at once. This is why Matrox's Parhelia, Triple Screen-To-Go, and ATi's Eyefinity technology are so... special. The HD 5x00 series of cards has been the first non-Matrox card to support 3 or more screens natively.

Right off hand, my guess is that you can only use the HDMI OR the VGA port, but not both.

But hey, try it and see.

    SLI : yes:

SLI will actually throw a hissy fit if you have two identical chip cards, but from different vendors. So if you couple and EVGA with a BFG, or a Galaxy with a Sparkle, it generally won't work.

There are driver hacks out there that get around the SLI limitations of vendor lock-in, but by and large these hacks generate more rendering and stability issues than they do improve performance.

    ***

    Crossfire : no

AMD has a list of supported card models here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/im...ombo_chart.jpg

Now, I do need to tell you... although that chart says you can crossfire certain cards without an internal connector...

    YOU NEED THE INTERNAL CONNECTOR

Thing is, I had a couple of HD 4650's, bought mostly because they were cheap, and I wanted to test out Crossfire against the Intel D975XBX motherboard I was sent for Mepisguides. In real-life testing, the lack of an internal connector meant the cards had to use the PCIE bus to transfer data... and the result was an on-benchmark performance acceleration, but with a slow, jittering, and stuttering display.

So, if you do look at Multi-GPU, make sure you look at cards with the internal connector.

    Quote:
SLI is enabled but unsupported for CoH. Those using it have said they've gained 7-10 fps (which, on top of frame rates of 30, is significant).
There are some various hacks that have been posted around the forum to "force" SLI rendering with the Live engine. As of right now, these hacks don't get anywhere near the performance boost that the Test Server's testing mode does.

Rumor has it that the Tele has another command line trigger for experimental Crossfire support. However, confirming this rumor probably would require having to sit through the full season of Lord Recluse and the Wrestler, and it's sequel, Lord Recluse and the Professor.

The term you are looking for is either: Waist-Cape or Tail Coat

As to why not? Pretty much the same reason no other avatar has them yet: it's been kept exclusive to one AT.

That doesn't mean other AT's won't get Tail Coats or Waist Cape's in the future, but it's quite likely the Widow Waist-Cape will remain exclusive to female Widows.
