Thank you VERY much for the post Castle, and I agree that Claws is not underpowered. Apparently you play quite a bit like me since you prefer Air Superiority (already built into my Stalker) and Claws (again, my main in CoH and CoV will be Claws).

As for the Placate issue, pick a fight with any baddie (most common ones I fight are Arachnos in Aeon City). Let him hit you once, then, about one-half second before his next attack, use Placate. You will perform the move graphically, his face will be covered by purple, but if that attack that he was JUST starting hits, you will lose your hide ability. I've since found a hole in THAT also, since, if you actually stand completely still and do nothing, after about 5 seconds, you will be hidden again (he will not attack, as he is placated). Problem is, the placate wears off right around this time and you now have to hope he misses with his next attack for you to land a crit.

This can be exploited in PvP by heroes who have any quick attacks. I know that, on my scrapper, as soon as I see a stalker placating, I shoot off a quick Air Superiority. I get placated, but he doesn't get hidden for a crit.

Walking through the steps above will recreate this every time as long as the baddie hits with the attacks he's using during your placate.
  2. THAT'S...

    THAT'S...

    yeah, I got nothing...

But since you're hitting on me in another thread, you've come out saying that you were male in ANOTHER thread, and you're wanting to pick a fight with me here...I don't like where this is going...
  3. You NEVER should have put that power in Cali...and with Mapserver running it's activation time? Come on, you know better...
  4. One problem. Reseurrect's been found to be bugged by this too. We're still waiting for kitty's power to fire off...

    Let's play the if/then game...

    IF:

Statesman said, "We've decided to increase all of SR's DEF numbers to a new amount. Toggles will be a base 100% increase to your defense and passives will be a base 50% increase to your defense,"

    THEN:

The replies would be, "But that doesn't stop the chance of being one-shotted! We need some resistance in the set!"

    IF:

Statesman said, "We've granted you 50% resistance to all dmg except Psi as long as you take your passives ebcause, in the theory that you have superior reflexes, you would not get smacked full-brunt with that alpha strike,"

    THEN:

The replies would be, "That doesn't make any sense with the set! Increase my defense, not my resistance!"

    IF:

I were Statesman, I would probably say, "You'd complain if they hung you with a new rope."

    [/ QUOTE ]

    IF:

This concept was monotonic resistance, and not defiance-like scaling resistance

    THEN:

    You might have a point

    IF:

The devs ever considered increasing SR defenses to make them properly balanced with the other scrapper sets

    THEN:

Your post wouldn't be a nonsensical strawman.

    IF:

SR was actually materially balanced with the other scrapper mitigation sets

    THEN:

There'd be a lot less people complaining about changes they perceive to make less sense than other alternatives

    IF:

this was relevant to the discussion

    THEN:

I'd be forced to craft a more detailed rebuttal.

Tisk, tisk. It's not nice to start a flame war just because you got made a fool in another thread. I'll be nice and stay out of this one since my only beef is with those who insist on whining and complaining when they just got a buff that does not apply to any other powerset but theirs. No matter if it was a .0000001% increase in DEF to the least taken passive, that's no reason to not say thank you. All I'm trying to spread is a little Southern hospitality.

    Enjoy your childish insults
  6. Eh, I'm not here to try to convince any of ya'll of anything. I'll continue to have fun playing my /SR scrapper whether he gets buffed or not, and I get requests to get my scrapper even when I'm on alts. If ya'll don't like it, don't play it. Either way, become appreciative of SOMETHING. This whining is just making me glad that I argue against most of you /SR scrappers instead of with you.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I don't want resistance. If I wanted resistance I would have rolled up an */Invul scrapper, or taken Tough from the power pool.

The whole point of SR is to not get hit. If your testing has finally realized that SR scrappers are underperforming, just add more defense. It's not rocket science. If you really want to use the 40% and 20% sliding scale then do it for increased defense, not resistance.

When a reflex scrapper gets hit, he should get hurt. The balancing point should be that the SR scrapper gets hit less often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In reality, if a Super Reflexes scrapper gets hit, his +DEF should go down for a period of time because he depends on his superior reflexes. The easiest time to hit a really fast guy is right after you just slugged the hell out of him. He won't be moving so quickly for a second or two then.

So, you really wanna argue concept? Cuz if you do, he oughta have us get guarantee-stunned for about 2 seconds after every blow we take.

Let's try to be grateful for something instead of arguing semantics?

  9. lol, I'm 6'5" (and a whopping 157 lbs according to the doc as of last week) and the girl (an ex of mine) is 4'11"
  10. Can't remember if I've posted on here yet and don't feel like flipping through, so I'll do it now

I'm Billy, a 22 yr old born-and-raised Texan guy. I'm far from a cowboy and can't even ride a horse, but I'm die-hard Texan I live in Lubbock, TX and attend college off-and-on until completion. After that, I'll be going to law school and on to a career in environmental law. Eventually.

For now, I am a supervisor in a call center for a large cable company (used to work for a cell phone company too). In my free time, I play CoH, watch LOTS of movies (about 200 DVD's on a college kid's budget), listen to, mix, and dj music, date (no g/f for almost 9 months now), play all sports (best at baseball, but natural athlete otherwise), compete in local dance competitions for dance/hip hop music (yes, a white guy that CAN dance), and club to practice. I'm known amongst my friends for getting my hands on music no one's ever heard (normally rare remixes) and for doing the stuff that no one else has the guts to do. My roommate likes to refer to me as The Brain because I can think my way out of just about anything (including the cops, a very helpful skill ) and I LOVE to argue I'm willing to argue about just about anything, and can be found working on getting friends and making enemies in the scrapper forums (SR is still overpowered).

As for me in game, I'm the founder of The Pingu Coalition, and can be found on my hordes of Pingus. It's a very tight-invitation only SG that is dedicated to helping, so if you ever need anything, search for Pingu and it'll either be me or someone that knows me well. My main is listed below and has gotten fairly well known on Champion for being a decently built SR scrapper and being one of the most fearless and suicidal scrappers around. Other than him, my alts include The Pingu Protector (high level emp/rad), and Squidgee Pingu (mid level PB).

And now what everyone really doesn't need to see, pics of me: Click me! OOH OOH! CLICK ME!
  11. Let's see, I've lately run with Drizz, Myrm, MistessShaana, and a bunch of others on the Manticore TF (I apologize whole-heartedly for not being able to keep up with all who was there, but I know for sure it was Lil Mama). Also, to whoever said they saw me, HI!!!!

I've actually been graced with about 5 people recently who have friended me or at least said hi because they knew me off the forums They love me! The really love me! Well...they at least say they TEND to agree with me...
  12. I got to play on an alt with UmbralFaith, and Detective and Hitori both got to meet Master Pingu the other night for a badge mish

Maybe next time, me and Umbral can actually beat a mish together
  13. Finally met a member of Showtime in game last night as I teamed for some AV's with D O Z E R. Great fun was had by all
  14. For those who are interested, the Pingu Coalition is actively seeking members. There are a few rules to joining, so you must be aware of these before getting your hopes up...

1)You must have played with at least one member of the Pingu Coalition in order to get an invite request from that member. Experience is not necessarily required, but personality is an important part of membership.
2)The character that is invited will be a new character. They are required to have black skin and must be of mutation, technology, or science origin. This is required in order to allow maximum cooperation amongst the team in helping others. All else is at your discretion, but for recognization purposes, I do recommend you throw the word Pingu in your name somewhere...

We are a SuperGroup that is dedicated to making the game most satisfying for both members and non-members alike. Enjoy leveling your characters and playing your game, but make sure to be helpful in any way possible to all others who you can.

  16. I may just be really dense here, but you say go to settings...

Ummmm, could I get a step-by-step to that location? Cuz I've tried flipping through everything I can find and I'm not locating anywhere that it asks for that URL addy...

Recently I was on the Positron TF with 2 inviduals exemplaring. At first, one of these ex's had the star and I protested, which brings me to my first statement:
    (1) While on the Manticore TF, a level 45 was exemplaring and when the Crey ambush came, the agents were 45s. Of course, being 33ish none of us were able to handle this but we eventually figured out to run to the drones by the Brickstown entrance. So - word to the wise, never let an exemplar hold the star! This code should be fixed to perhaps generate the ambush at the highest -effective- level of the team.

So during the course of the TF, one of the ex's drop out as I am on my way to chat with Positron. When I arrive, he states that he needs to chat to the leader. Even though I have the star, I guess the party got 're-enumerated' and Positron wasn't clued in.

    (2) If an exemplar drops out, the Issuing Hero needs to recognize the team leader afterwards.

This problem was worked around by logging out without quitting to pass the star. I did this as I don't trust the effects of Promote.

During the middle of a door, next to last, the other exemplar had to quit and log off. When we exited the mission, it did not say Return To Contact. Reading the description even said that we had failed, even though we all were Mission Completed and exited normally.

    (3) An exemplar quitting mid-door has unpredictable effects on the status of mission completion.

This time, the workaround was that the 'host' of the exemplar AND the team leader had to both log out in order to fix the status.

I petitioned and rapped with a GM about these issues. He/she assured me exemplar code was under scrutiny. I guess those fixes are 'coming soon.' Until then, unfortunately, I am wary of accepting exemplars on my team.

    Happy gaming!

Note the date for this post...fortunately, they were already working on the problem on January 20th...

Bummer it happened to me on the same TF three days ago...

    I was the lvl 36 exemp'd down to 15 (I think)...serious insta-death when the 7 level 36 CoT's came and jumped me twice at Positron's location...sent /petition...no response...in the next 12 hours...or 20 hours or so that I've been online since then...
