She was level 50 too. And she was a kinetic defender who took speed boost, but didn't want to use it. Irony..
lol at that one. On my kins i will sb everyone, but I do tend to concentrate on the tank(especially stone) and whoever seems to be kicking butt. Gungho effectiveness should be rewarded. A blaster burning through his end bar wiping groups will get special attention over a scrapper that takes his time and goofs around.

And to that I say, "Such a good team can quickly clear the path to Rommy and quickly take him out in the same time, only, by clearing first, they don't run the risk of a mistake."

You still have to kill 300 Cimerorans. Doing it backwards, if it does save any time, is an insignificant saving of time.

But to answer your question about exploits: As I mentioned above, which you neglected to quote, when there is a design flaw which allows players to 'work around' the intended investment of risk and time, then taking advantage of that design flaw is an exploit. I know, I know, exploit is so wed to the notion of a *bug*. But when a TF that is designed to be an hour's worth of work -- even for a good team -- gives the reward for an hour's worth of work; but is done in 20 minutes... then there is a exploit involved... whether through a bug, or players cleverly leveraging the mechanics in a 'legal' way, it's an exploit.

Actually, that design flaw was considered an exploit by the Devs. That's why stealth now suppresses when you click, when before, it didn't. See... design flaw exploited... design changed to stop the exploit.

If the Eden exploits are fixed, then why is its Merit reward still so low? Twenty minute Edens are still possible, thus, the low Merit reward.

Good ol' Katie, the poster-witch of design-flaw-becomes-exploit. When it was made widely known that the first mission could be bypassed through purposely failing, Posi said basically, at the time, "hey, that's how the mechanics work, what could possible go wrong?" Well, a few thousand 15 minute KHTFs later, they realized what could go wrong. The design flaw was recognized as such precisely because it was so thoroughly exploited. And so, the first mission was changed to stop that.... well, if you don't call it an exploit, then what would you call it?
If there is a set time needed to do a tf and not be an "exploiter", the devs need to post it(preferably an ingame countdown) to let us know. Here I thought we did a tf following a series of objectives, not a time clock.

sure, but after 2.5 years I have quite a lot of confidence it wont change. They dont have a big track record of going back and updating/fixing things they left in the dust. This seems to be a business model they run with. Rather than update old crappy tf's, they hung a carrot in front of them. And said it was not cost effective to go back to old content and work on it.
COX isnt dead, but the fastest thing that would kill it would be another year of no content. They could do something that shook things up and removed old content replacing it with some new, something that would generate interest and probably bring back some old customers.

Yup. on all the content that the devs never bothered to update. Once upon a time, they used to make content. But that was a long time ago.

I think some of the problem is people coming from wow and the like. Where the first person to hit the mob "tags" it and gets the xp/loot no matter who kills it.

Right after COP. That phrase is just a cop out for "we wont or cant fix this. but it will get you off of our backs while we work on some other gimmick and dont make content"

IMO, those EULAs should never be enforceable. That would be fair. Unfortunately what's fair doesn't have much relevance in the law because, if TonyV is correct, companies like NCSoft pervert the law and our court systems to benefit themselves at our expense.

If TonyV is correct, and if NCSoft ever goes after somebody for this, then this is an example of a company that is doing great harm to the public as a whole.

Also, couldn't one make the argument that the transfer of IP in this manner is unconscionable? I mean IP rights are a huge deal in this country and the ability to transfer them in this manner just doesn't make sense.

Also TonyV, to go back to your car comparison. So if transferring IP rights is like selling a car does that then mean that NCSoft could have a clause stating that by accepting you give your personal vehicle to them and it is now their property?
It gets more complicated if the person is a minor. some states do not allow a minor to sign away any rights, or go into a contract agreement with anyone. Will Ncsoft decide to not let minors play their games in these states?

That's why -Regen debuffs are so prized, since the devs insist on sticking with the Big Sacks Of Hit Points model of challenge so often.
Of course the idea that debuffs are wonderful for soloing defenders is harmed by the behavior of bosses running all over the map dragging a glowing green cloud and drawing agro from all around.

So I suspect theres a few more fast runs that slow ones going on.
Thats the problem with social engineering. Did they lower the merits because of times or to encourage people to do other tfs?

My stone controller may not have as many direct damage powers as your defender, but i noticed your pet wasnt on that list. It doesnt matter that you have less direct damage when you have lots of indirect and everything will be locked down so nothing touches you anyway.

Most of a defenders primary does nothing for him solo, yet a controller solo can buff his pet to hell and beyond. That is a force multiplier also. If your controller isnt a force multiplier on teams, you arent doing it right.

My Storm/Archery, Storm/Elec, and Dark/Elec have all had those 'the stuff I can actually get is too easy, so I'll have to go solo stuff in Crey's Folly for a bit of a challenge' moments.

... and most of these are still on SOs. The ones that aren't have such whopping set bonuses as are granted by a single set of Scirocco's Dervish.

Where do people keep finding these unsoloable defenders? None I've played are particularly fast, but I'd say they have a 'decent chance to solo' unless you shut your head in car doors for a hobby.
Most people claiming to run soloing defenders without IO's also have mez protection IO's. That is the main pitfall for defenders soloing. Or have you found a way to cm your self?

As long as the devs put a disclaimer that defenders are a gimp AT as the only at without a decent chance to solo without an expensive io build.

Take a Ice troller - unenhanced numbers

    Chillblain 30.6 Damage (ST)
    Block of ice 30.6 damage
    Frostbite 9.18 AOE
    Flash Freeze 6.12 AOE

Now containment can leverage that 30.6 to 61.2 if you have the target mezzed

    Take a /Ice Defender
    Ice Bolt 36.1
    Ice Blast 59.3
    Ice Breath 50.6 (Cone)
    Freeze Ray 3.61
    Ice Storm 116.8 (AOE)
    Bitter Ice Blast 82.4
    Bitter Freeze Ray 47.7

Ice blast (the 2nd power) is about equivalent to the best damage output you can expect from an ice troller, and thats assuming you slot the hold for damage rather than control.

/Ice blast has far superior AOE damage (yay for teaming) and even has decent control (2 holds plus slows)
wow, a controller with no secondary. I didnt think you could make one.

I use that to defeat enemies solo all the time. And before someone tells me that defenders shouldnt solo, they are nerfing my xp because enemies are too easy. Can defenders be exempt from this nerf please? I have crap damage and no mez protection. If I could cm myself it might help, but most of my buffs do nothing for me.
