  1. i know right?

I'd be totally missing out on having to talk to people too. The first guy who told me that the two of us would be fine against Jurassic... and then I showed a couple more guys that we didn't need a full team against Jack in Irons and Eochai... yeah I'd pay extra in a MMORPG so I don't have to interact with other folks.

    Not.

Nothing against the OP, he found out the new Insp are awesome, and he's happy. In a tough situation, having a few on hand could really help a team out. But I don't think I'd make a habit of buying them. Usually you can just team up and get an even better buff from a player than the Insp gives.
  2. There are new Insp in the store that buff your whole team...

... and he's a mastermind. The new Insp also last for like 5 minutes or something ridiculous.

I figure he's popping one or two and then turning the pets loose on the GM. I've duo'd most of those GM, they're not really hard, so I don't doubt someone could solo them with just a few extra buffs.
  3. Yeah, I'd expect that the snake costume temp power would have to be one of those that disables all of your powers. What does a flying snake look like? Too many extra animations to account for....

Hey here's a weird idea: There are some "character stories" in the new DA, right? (I haven't actually played any yet, so apologies in advance if this is in correct.) Where you take control of an NPC and play out their origin story. What about the same thing for monsters, except you get their powers too, and can fight stuff? All the animations are done, just a clickable interface needs to be produced.

Hmm, I can see problems with this already. No travel powers--again, how does a snake fly? Esp. if it's an NPC snake, travel power wouldn't make sense. Temp powers might not work (Gun, Power Analyzer, etc.), Epic power pools and Villain patron power pools might not work (Black Scorpion's mace). Could be a large pain, but might be awesome too and something that would sell. Just thinking out loud here, mostly....
  4. I think the snake bodies would make a good Temp Power. Since we'll probably never get those as general character bodies, a costume Temp Power might be the next best thing.
  5. I know you can't read this, SN, but here's a link to the post I made in Feedback if anyone wants to comment:

Post by a F2P customer says that if you go VIP for a while, and then drop back to F2P, you don't get to re-assign all of your character slots. It caused a problem for him because he transferred several characters, then when he dropped back to F2P he could no longer access them.

I realize this isn't Issue 22 related, but it is potentially a bug, since I don't think it worked like this originally. Several folks got told that if they went VIP, then they could re-assign their slots, and I think that's how it worked for a while at least.

Besides just going back to how stuff worked before, you might be able to fix this just by directing CS reps to switch unlocked slots for customers who buy server transfers. That seems fair to me because they did pay for a service.

I don't know how many folks would use a server transfer to free up a slot, so I don't know if it's best to leave the default as-is, or to make the default that the unlocked slot gets transfer with the server transfer. I.e., which default would cause fewer trouble tickets for the CS dept.? Feedback from CS might be helpful here.

    The thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=1#post4099121

The OP's problem in a nutshell, in his own words:

that alone is enough to make me never want to resubscribe again. by locking out my characters because i wanted to move to a more populated server they've pretty much lost all my future business.

That isn't the way things worked originally, afaict. I wonder if this is new, and where it comes from. I'd ask the rep to escalate it. Not because I think it can be fixed, but because higher up folks need to hear that it's a problem.

I'm going to post this issue on the beta Feedback forums too, because again I think certain folks need to see that it is a problem. Good luck with your situation, and I hope you can get it resolved somehow.

I don't think this is how it works, though. When you go back to F2P, you don't have all your F2P slots still unlocked. You have to re-unlock them.

I think what has happened is either a) the OP doesn't understand that he can re-unlock the slots, and just has to do it, or b) the OP doesn't have enough slots on the new server, which has been mentioned.

So there should be at least 2 global slots to reassign. If a player moved a lot of toons, I'm guessing there's at least one or two more global slots. Beyond that, you have to have slots on the new server and choose to unlock them, or you have to buy some more slots. The unlocks on your old server don't transfer with the character; you should be able to go back to your old server and see that you still have the same number of unlocks available (but again you'll have to re-choose them).
  8. Patch notes up:

One thing to keep in mind is that some young children often play this game (Sister Flame). Sometimes on their parent's account. So I try to keep things in perspective and to stay civil too. "Try," of course, doesn't always work as it can be very frustrating playing with someone who seems to have no idea at all what they are doing. But it is something I try to think about, and not get too upset.

Ah ha, something else to do at 16 (or 14, which is the minimum level for Ouroboros). Ask for someone by Ms. Liberty to "drop an Ouro portal." Jump in (click on the top bit) and go to the highest point of the gnomon (the main structure thing across the pond from the entrance) and get the badge for your own personal Ouroboros portal.

Then check out the missions. It's a time travel zone, where you can "flashback" to old missions and arcs, and do them even if you have out-leveled the contact. I think the old intro arc still requires you to be level 25 to start, which is a shame since it's a decent tutorial, but just run in the building and click on the smaller crystals. I think you can use them right away, and you can ask for help over the help channel for any finer points.

In other words, with an Ouroboros portal, there's no real reason to turn off XP. Just flashback to an old arc or contact if you missed them. No worries.

Double stacked Maneuvers, Assault, and even Tactics is an awesome buff combo if you can manage it.
  13. I don't think Taunt affects a mob that is running away.

This wiki page seems to imply that Giant Monsters don't get immobilize protection, but if that were true then you should be able to immob him in one go. So something fishy is going on here, maybe Scrapyard is just "hard coded" that way.

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Archvillain_Resistance

Personally, what I think you need to do is avoid killing his minions. Part of the "run away" calculation is how many nearby allies have died. Kill enough and Scrappy's AI might get overwhelmed or stuck, and just make him run away forever. Pull him to a safe spot away from his conga line of workers, and beat him up there. Try to imob or repel his followers with out killing them.

    Good luck.
  14. I *think* Ridia is saying that they want some sort of special challenge or mission for their character.

    Some thoughts:

    1. Organize and run a Positron Task Force. You can find Posi in Steel Canyon, right in the dead center by the trainer. There's two task forces which are meant to be run in order, but take a break and run them on different days, or at least after a short break if you're really gung ho to run them in one day.

    2. Run Jim Temblor's arc. He's in Faultline. Faultline is a newer zone, and the missions in there are in general top notch. You don't need to be introduced, just go up to him and click. I don't remember if Jim's arcs are very hard; they may be soloable or you might need to bring a friend.

Talk these arcs up on the help channel (I assume you don't have global channels access?). You might be able to get some more experienced folks who want to run these arcs to go with you. It'll be fun to lead them but get advice from people as you go.

I deleted my Necro/Thermal at 26, it was just meh to me. I also deleted a Necro/Poison and a Ninja/Trick Arrow (yes, I made an attempt at the famously poo-poo'd Ninja/TA).

I have a lower level Thugs/Traps that I like. I'm looking for a good idea for Beast Mastery. Need to wait for the stats, but /Time is cool, eh? I'll have to think about that.

Yes, you can have all your pets out at once, for six total. With Soul Extraction you will be able to get a seventh pet. If your secondary has a pet, you'll be able to summon that as well.

thanks for in advance, oh and if u have any tips on being a necromancer that would be great! :]
At low levels (i.e., under 30), take at least two of your personal attacks. The guides say to skip them, but some additional testing on the Mastermind forums showed that when you don't have all your pets yet, your personal attacks actually do a significant percentage of your overall damage. Plus, your personal attacks are fun.

Sandolphan's binds are great, I use them myself. Also, learn what Bodyguard mode is, and how to employ it. Learn to pull while still controlling your pets, and while still in Bodyguard mode. These two skills will add the most to your power as a Mastermind, and to your enjoyment of the game, imo.

    Good luck.

  18. Scrapper Lock - n. Running around and attacking everything and not looking at health, endurance, or anything else, including where your friends are, what level creatures you are attacking, or how many. Typically will kill lots of things very quickly until the scrapper ends up dead under a pile of about 30 enemies because he (or she) went left when the team went right.
  19. Your call. Smite looks like almost as good as Shadow Maul, damage-wise. Aim is more situational but nice for boosting a big attack. Try to think what you actually use more... up close melee or longer range strikes. Go with what feels best for your playstyle.

P.S. It's not hard to change your build if you pick "wrong." Most folks when playing a new set pick everything to get a feel for it, then go back and redo their build based on what they feel is best. This is easy to do once, with a second build, which you still have available.

    A plea

Probably Suggestions and Ideas, or Issue 22 Feedback.

The SERVER forum is definitely the wrong spot for this sort of stuff.
  21. What's your travel power? If none yet, pick Fly. You'll need to leave Atlas Park soon (you've almost out-leveled it), and you'll REALLY need a travel power.

Otherwise, Smite or Aim both seem ok. I'm going by numbers, I've never played this combo.

  23. You can read all the forums, right? Just not post in all of them?

Go to the forum index, look for Archetypes & Powers. It's just below Player Help, where this forum is located.

In Archetypes & Powers, there's a forum for each Archetype. Blasters are near the top. Each archetype forum has stickied near the top a post with many player guides. These are old, but are still relevent, espcially if you're F2P and playing without IOs.

Take a gander at those and let us know if you have any questions. Nrg/Nrg is a popular blaster choice, there's quite a bit to look at.

Here's a direct link for blasters.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=112229

    General advice while leveling:

Three slots in each attack as soon as you can. Start with 2 Accuracy and 1 Damage.

In defensive powers, you want 1 Endredux for toggles, and 2 Defense Buff or 2 Resistance Buff. A defensive power that takes Health should be slotted with 1 heal to start, plus the above. Unless the defensive power doesn't take Def, Heal or Res, then don't slot it, just use the default one slot (typically Endredux).

Take 1 travel power, but don't slot it, or anything from the travel power pool. One slot (the default one) is enough.

If you're playing a tank, brute or scrapper, consider (strongly) taking Kick, Tough and Weave if Def based, all from the Fighting pool. Do not slot Kick at all, but slot Tough with 1 EndRedux and 2 Res quickly, and Weave with 1 end redux.

That'll get you up through level 20 - 30. After that you start getting more slots and can think about putting up to 6 slots in some powers. There are always exceptions: a high damage AoE will merit more damage slots, endredux and recharge when you can spare the slots. But before level 30 it's not a big deal, and the Accuracy is really important.

That's my 30 second guide to everything. Hope it helps.
  24. OK, here's some quick tips. If you've got to level 9 solo, then you've done enough of the game to have an idea how stuff works. So far so good.

    1. Stand around Ms. Liberty and ask for a "DFB" team. You should get one pretty quick on Virtue if you play at normal hours. Welcome to XP heaven.

    2. Almost any good, full or nearly full team will generate almost as much XP, so keep that in mind. Teams are good.

    3. Get to a higher level zone (appropriate for your new level) and look for a "Detective" in that zone in your contacts list. Good zones are Steel Canyon, Skyway, Falutline (south of the south Skyway tram), and Talos. Detectives give short "radio" missions that a lot of folks use to level quickly.

    4. Do try to explore and do regular missions. Try to lead at least to lead a small team, even if you're F2P. It helps to see how things work for a leader. You can use the help channel (/hc) to recruit.

    5. Somewhere in there you'll have to learn about picking powers (what's best), and how to slot. I don't think anything in Kat or WP is bad, so you can just pick them in order. Make sure to take as many defensive (will power) powers as offensive, since face-planting is never fun. Also, be sure to take at least one travel power. For new folks I recommend Fly, it's just the easiest to use.

Good luck, but don't be afraid to ask more questions when you need too.

A lot of us are asking to at least see the number of people queued for each Trial/TF. It would help folks pile onto a team once they saw some folks waiting for an event. Your other ideas are good too. I'd like to add that I think the LFG tool should be smartened up and allowed to be a bit more choosey how it forms teams.

For the time being, however, I think two minor changes would help greatly: eliminating the requirement for all members of a league to be in the same zone for the trial to start, and make the LFG channel a global chat channel that everyone can converse on.
These are also good, you should head over to the beta feedback forum and post these ideas too.
