Once again, I have to correct you on proper use of "Teh Internetz." Measured, considered, thoughtful responses have no place here! Wild Speculation is required to Win! Reactionary Panic and DOOOOOMM!! is the only way to go!
Seriously, thanks, recharge was my first thought as well...(Actually, it works for almost every character anyway!). I'll be looking forward to your future comments after things 'simmah down'. -
Wait, but everything's FREE in Cuba! O wait...

Quote:So it seems your questions have all been addressed, Blue, and now you just seem to be picking nits. Yes there are Real Life examples of this very thing. Does this impact your argument in any way?Do you have an actual example of this in real life? Or is this Glen Beck in disguise?
By the way, the wiki on this subject explains well:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand
Have you come to understand that what you ask is not feasible, useful, or works the way that you seem to think it does? Your responses until now, with a few exceptions, seem to indicate that you have either not read any of the responses you've received, or you have chosen to ignore them. Give us a hint. -
Hey Local Man, on a slightly different subject, what do you think of the new Alpha Slot info, and how will it affect your Ill/Rad builds? And how would you suggest people 'measure' the potential effectiveness of the Alpha Slot enhancements on these powersets? Better to slot for over-cap numbers, or better to slot to reach near currrent ED-caps and diversify abilities/pick up new powers?

Quote:I approve of this message.Since you are just meeting them it would be nice if you did something that would engage them. DS and a laptop are things that are very individual (at least during a family gathering).
I would strongly suggest you get them each a gift special to them and then get a gift to all of them which is some type of game. It should be a game the 6 and 9 year old can enjoy/understand and something the 3 year old can team with an adult to play. Then you can get to know them and they will feel like you spent time with them!
If only they still had Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Robots. Fun AND gratuitous violence, for everyone! -
Oh yeah, with that much +rech, One (I repeat ONE!) power from One power pool (hasten) can give you +70% (wait, let me repeat that a moment... 70%!!!!) more recharge, PERMA, ie, ALWAYS UP. How can this not be worth it???????
If you say Rech is paramount, then this is a no brainer. If it is not a no brainer to you, then ... that word "paramount"... I don't think it means what you think it means. -
As an avid user of a Dark/Fire brute, I can honestly say, "Why in the world do you feel you NEEEEEED that much recharge?" Having Dark Consumption up often is great, don't get me wrong, but is it a primary part of your attack chain? With that much rech, your Dark primary attacks must all tumble over each other, so yes, they're up often, but if they're al recharged at the same time, there's no real synergy there.
I think you may want to actually consult with some of the Dark/ experts around here, for example, for advice on how to to optimize (note, I used that word in place of Maximize) your build. Having ALL ALL ALL of the shiniest expensive toys is almost never the best way to 'pimp' out a build. And the devs never wanted the 'norm' to be people wanting and easily getting ALL ALL ALL of the shiniest expensive toys. To mangle a phrase, "If everyone is special, no one is special."
For example, when an extra 2B inf gets you 10% more recharge, and that 10% results in a 0.2 second improvement in the actual recharge time of your powers, it may be time to call a plumber.
I think most of this has been said multiple times in this thread, so I'm likely just repeating the wisdom already shared. -
Sure, Cash Money is god for adults, and for older kids, but it probably won't score good 'uncle points'. I think... what are you passionate about? (besides CoX, I think...) Do you love to read? Books are awesome. In particular, get each one a very nice hardbound copy of a kids' classic, like A Wrinkle in Time or Narnia, as already suggested, or something similar (LOTR? Might be too mature for them for now...). It may not be the perfect gift, but maybe 1 or 2 of them might latch on to that silly "reading" thing. For the little ones, a nice set of Dr Seuss books that Mom and Dad can read to them, and they can hand down to THEIR kids someday might be a good idea... Come to think of it, a BOOK copy of The Princess Bride - maybe Mom and Dad can read it to them before they see the movie, they could make it a family tradition...
Another related thought: a journal (for the 9-year old) - for that 'writing' thing.
Do you love football? Helmets and pads! Wait, that might not be a good idea.
Also, asking their parents what they're currently 'into' is a good idea. It's what I generally do/did with my brothers' kids - they weren't always helpful, but sometimes they were.
Most young ladies love the dolls, but that may or may not be the direction you want to go.

Funny. I hear these exact sentiments a lot at work. It does not, in any way, endear me to the people who say it.

Um, I would never think zone PvP was for 'fun' unless I was doing the traditional, Stalker jerk hide spike-kill unsuspecting lowbie, or wait until some guy has an opponent down to 2% health and Kill-steal on him (I can't think of an occasion where I was in zone PvP where this did not happen to me, and thus, I no longer participate in this kind of silliness.). Those would not be 'fun' in my book.
Fun PvP, to me, would be challenging someone on an even playing field to see who could win the round. The Arenas are the only place this is available. -

Quote:All due respect, but I don't know if your particular problem can be solved. Unless there is infinite new content (not realistic), the only way to provide a challenge is to either make something require repetition to obtain it (not your style), or make a reward for a task that is SO HARD that it is nearly impossible to accomplish (which nearly all players hate, and which results in people leaving the game.) I don't really see a middle ground here...What if you've already been there/done that?
I don't mind repeating content. I do it with every new alt. What I don't like is doing the same stuff over again on a character that's done it already. That's why I can't farm worth a damn, even if I get it in my head to try. So, for my 50s that have played through all the available level 50 stuff - is there going to be enough NEW level 50 stuff for them to get anywhere with this? -
Quote:I believe new enemies and new content is coming. Post-L50 content: What we used to think was easy-peasy will now (I conjecture) pwn triple-def-capped claws scrappers as if they were tiny, fluffy kittens.I guess this is the thing I'm least excited for in i19 and beyond. I just don't get it. We can already IO our toons out to godly proportions, and now with the new Alignment Merit system, it's really not difficult to do... and most of the game isn't very difficult to begin with. I've yet to run into anything in this game that I can't complete, most of it in a duo, and TFs with a competent team - not even an expert team, just a competent one. I just don't get the point of making our characters godly powerful... in order to do what? And are the upcoming TFs really going to be of a carefully balanced difficulty where the extra regen/damage boost is going to be the make or break point? I think it's a lot more likely that they'll be more difficult and any good team will be able to do them fine, because I can't see a way to predicate the difficulty on a boost like that - especially when we're choosing which boost we want. Are controllers who don't take the mez boost going to be unable to complete them?
I mean, yay powers, everyone loves their toon to be awesome, but it seems like it's just there to BE powerful.
With all due respect, O mighty scrappers. -
Remember, Truthiness is believing what FEELS right, irrelevant of the facts. Truth and Truthiness are only related in the sense that the first 5 letters in each are the same.
I think the OP is more on the side of Truthiness than Truth. -
If you have an incomplete understanding of something, how can you claim it to be 'unfair'?
Please read the copious market-related forum posts that explain its workings if you want to learn more; if not, please STOP posting misinformed screeds claiming 'facts' that are not true. "Open your mind, open your eyes, open your ears, and close your mouth," as one teacher repeatedly said to me.
If you believe it is impossible for you to have fun in this game without immediately having the best, most expensive IO in each IO slot, (regardlss of your protestations, this is exactly what you seem to want) then I guess your definition of fun is unique among all the other players in the game, seems unreasonable to nearly everyone, and I would suggest makes no earthly sense whatever. -
Quote:I totally already totally said that! Sure, you talk more pretty, with your so-called 'paragraphs' and 'evidentiary links' and 'formatting', but I'm gonna ask you this just once: Impish Kat, you and me, are we gonna have a problem? This is neither:
- a technical issue
- a bug
The OP then re-posted on the same subject in the same forum.
Then he came here and cross posted the same thing here.
Besides the fact that cross posting is against forum rules, this whole thing is in terribly bad form.
. -
You're funny, OP. Funny because the truth here is really the same truth as the truth in the other forum in which you posted the same issue. And until you come around to the idea that you are uninformed and not knowledgable about this subject, this will not end well. Either heed the useful (yup!) advice in the other thread, or stop posting.
BTW, this thread breaks at least 2 forum rules, and a large number of rules of logic and etiquette. -

Quote:Orthogonal! O SNAP! I actually knew what that meant!!Now this thread that has it all can boast an "orthogonal" sighting.
I think I'm going to make that the word-of-the-day for my English classes tomorrow.
Yeah. your questions have been answered by people here, by capitalist market theory, by the current popularity of the game... in short, you're just not reading the responses. Market is working aok, we might want the limit upped to 3-4B to fit the Glad Arm ResDef/etc, and thus destroy more inf... (dropped an advanced concept in there just to see if you're reading at all...)
Next. -
Serves you right, you eeeebil marketeer!
I keed, I keed!
You'l get it all, ... eventually... well, maybe most of it, probably...
In any case, Good luck. And grats for pwning the market! -
Quote:2 merits is WAY too rich a prize... remember, once the team is gathered (40-50 ppl), the ships begin to drop like anemic flies. That team that dropped 40 ships wasn't all that special, just tenacious. I wouldn't want to see people farming these ships for merits, but I think a few Vanguard merits would be a suitable reward.2 merits? You think you're going to attract 30-45 folks to destroy a drop ship for 2 merits? Hell, Lusca gives 2 merits, and about 90% of the time I go to/from the boat in Indy He/She/It is up there in that far NW corner.
(and before anybody goes back to the 'this is why it should be a badge' argument, see my previous post).
The point of even being able to take down a dropship is just so that you can say to yourself 'cool, i helped take down a dropship'. that's it. Some sort of 'cool' explosion goes along with it, and that's all.
I'm all for people taking down the dropships, I just feel that 2 merits isn't going to be much of an incentive (and if you crank it to say 20 per, then that could lead to farming since you see what, 2-4 dropships per raid?), and a badge can lead to 'locking out' of newer folks because of the large number of folks required to participate. -
Quote:The 50 may be too high (Once the group forms up, and after the first one or 2 ships, the takedown becomes relatively trivial, and teams can rack up the points fast... so maybe 20 each time. But otherwise, I'd love to see this, and it would be an ad-hoc alternative to ship raids.~50 vanguard merits
Pretty useless on 99% of my characters as they have more than they will ever need, but is *some* incentive for those inclined to bother with this and want/need a decent chunk of Vmerits for the time required.
Go ahead and farm all the Vmerits ya want. It's not going to effect anyone or the market no matter how many people are involved.
But yeah, I'm not so sure we 'need' rewards, but they would still be nice.
My attempt to organize a takedown event failed, in large part due to lack of coordinational planning (most of my friends had prior engagements, nd they actually know people...) But maybe next time. -
Quote:I'd love to see this as well. Similar to Clyde (I think it was Clyde) in one ep where he refuses to participate in the boys 'shenanigans' but they all find out he's the 'savior' of the episode... can't quite remember...I think it'd be funny if Mint Berry Crunch turns out to be the one to somehow banish Cthulhu from our world. I mean they've spent the last two episodes building up the joke that no one really knows what his superpower/purpose is so it'd only make sense if he comes out of no where and does something pivotal to save everyone.

When you click on a piece of salvage, and the window for that salvage expands to show price history, used in/etc, I'd like to see it show above that window,
"You Have: xx"
"Your recipes use: xx"
