Quote:Still missing it. I see where it says "Ability to change the colors of your Titles", but nothing on actually how to do it. I viewed the page on Titles but didn't see anything there on how to change colors.Really? Looks like it's mentioned where it talks about the 84th month Vet award in Paragonwiki to me.

I also love reading these types of stories. I give major kudos to those that are able and willing to prove out these sorts of theories. /bookmarked

Quote:Wait, we can do this? How? I completely missed this part of the reward, and ParagonWiki doesn't seem to have details on how to do it.The lack of a "badge earned" splash for the last couple of Vet badges may be related to the Devs basically forgetting to mention that they slipped in the "name color change" feature as part of the last Vet award. Remember how it took the Devs a few days to even acknowledge that was in fact an official part of that Vet award instead of being some kind of bug/leak?

I just want to point out that, if you are a high enough veteran level, you can use the /auctionhouse command from anywhere in the game. It wasn't noted in your OP what vet month you are on, but your forum Join Date is March of 2004 so, if you have paid up all your time from then till now, you should have that vet reward power. I love not having to physically go to the auction house any longer.
If you are not that high of a vet level yet, well, then I apologize for teasing you. :P -
Had to search for it but I recalled another thread where this was found several weeks ago. Found it here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=264900

I used a converted hero to do this mission arc just fine, getting all the badges associated. Obviously a converted hero would not have these contacts unlocked, so this doesn't seem to be a requirement at all in doing those side objectives.

Quote:Ah, I see, reading comprehension fail on my part then. Thanks for the explanation.flipside: I had the impression that the OP had tried farming for purples (eg in Cimerrora) and, since that hadn't been profitable enough, had returned to the AE building.

To give the game some depth and immersion? For all the reasons stated here about how actual "city" names exist in the U.S., I don't think it's any stretch of the imagination to assume that the writers/creators of lore in the CoH/V universe wanted to give some meaningful background to Paragon City. Giving them these names inserts some depth that the city aged and came to be just like normal cities do in the real world.
-
I have just one question, and perhaps I'm stupid and I don't get how the AE system works, but I was under the impression than "normal" AE missions that reward tickets do not reward recipe/salvage drops. Is that still true? If so, how are you getting purple drops within AE on these farm maps/arcs?

I haven't tried an Electric Blast Dominator so I don't know if the colors match up, but couldn't you make an Electric Blast Blaster in the character creator, go to the Powerset Customization tab and see what colors are chosen for the powers? Mark them down, cancel out of the creator and then create your Dominator with those colors?

Quote:Didn't get to try this one, but I tried two other ones I found via the Brute forum thread. One was the Crey's ambush one and the other was named Frontloaded.I actually don't remember the mission number. I think it was called something like "Fire Ambush Farm" with around 800 votes on it.
Both ran at +0x8 and +1x8, no bosses on either. I was quite surprised to find that my controller did amazingly, never dying and only dipping below 1/2 health once. I'm sure I wasn't every efficient however in the timing, but nothing was touching me either. I felt quite safe. This character has pretty paltry defense numbers, somewhere in the teens to low 20's on any position. But, none of that really matters when the inspirations are flying like rain and you can keep 3 purples stacked at any given time.
If I were to do this on a regular basis, I would need a second build with some ridiculous high recharge on it. My main sources of AoE damage are Frostbite and Ice Storm. Frostbite recharges fast but is low damage, even with all the procs I have slotted in it (except when most of them fire at the same time, at which I can obliterate an entire spawn with one application of Frostbite). Ice Storm is slow to recharge for something like this. I would need to get it perma for efficiency in this. I can lay down nearly 3 applications of Freezing Rain before Ice Storm is recharged on my current build.
All in all, I was impressed. I intend to go back and see how well he can do with upping to +2, +3 and +4. -
Quote:Would you be willing to share which AE mission you ran? I'm having trouble reading the mission text in the video capture to try and find it.

I wish, I absolutely wish I could find Lambda teams half as competent as this one. I've been on not one, but two failed MoLambda runs now that involved some stooge popping an acid on a door after several long discussions about what badge we were going for and to not use any of the powers received.
Congrats to the OP and bring me along next time! -
Quote:Mez protection is rough, but thanks to the no-toggle-drop change it isn't as rough as it used to be (AA still drops, but thems the breaks). Incarnate Clarion has been a great boon to me in this area.I pretty much feel the same way. The set is not perfect. It has a lot of issues. Some of it can be worked around with high defense and mezz protection.
Ice Control however does play pretty much unlike any powerset/class in a video game anywhere though, which is why I like it. And it is very possible to survive and make money with it solo. I remember fighting at -1x1 for about 2 years before I started figuring out the tricks, although the biggest boost came from Incarnate abilities that helped cover endurance deficits and stunt slotting in Arctic Air. Any [EDIT: high level] Ice Controller with the Psi APP and some defense (I'd say around ~30%) should be able to solo at x8 with relative ease.
I have to admit the Psi APP is superior to Ice in terms of damage and utility, but I chose Ice for thematic reasons. But, with some ample recharge and now the Reactive Incarnate power at least Ice Storm is up often and puts out respectable damage.
Ok, I need to try out one of these missions tonight. I'm jazzed to see how well my character will perform. -
Quote:Thank you for responding to that. I will trust the opinion of someone who is posting videos of such feats. That's a good question. I'm not a huge farmer. I have done it from time to time. On the Brute forums, talking about this particular type of mission goes on a lot. I'm one of the few (I think) players to actually post a video of it. If the mission is an exploit, at least it makes the developers aware. There were some statements made about not farming the AE quite some time ago, but nothing has been said about it since. If you are worried about someone from development banning you for playing this kind of mission, I'd say there is nothing to be concerned about.
To my knowledge, there is nothing blatantly exploitative about this particular type of mission. Many characters placed in this particular environment don't do all that well, because of all the damage that comes raining down on you very quickly. Ice Control is an exception because its aura power keeps the enemy in check. I suspect Earth Control might do well because of Volcanic Gasses as well. Anyway, the mission doesn't involve anything particularly cheat-y other than having a lot of enemies who are fairly easy to kill aggro you all at once. The mission itself is actually created for Fire Armor Brutes; I ran it with a character not optimized to that damage type.I have been watching the threads in the Brute forums and they astound me, and give me a chuckle. One of these "fire farm" AE missions is a Hall of Fame mission currently in AE.
Quote:My ice/storm still isnt going to take arctic air. I simply dont enjoy it.
Even tweaked to the gills, my Ice/Storm/Ice controller is still underpowered compared to some other controller powersets and combos. To me alone, I feel very powerful when playing this character, and is why I've played them for the majority of 7 years. -
My long favorite character in the game has been an Ice/Storm controller, whom I've been playing for some 7 years now. He's currently tricked out to the gills and can do some impressive things in large spawn battles, but I never seriously considered farming with him. This gives me some want to give it a whirl.
That said, I've long avoided AE and its "farm" missions for fear of the dev banhammer crushing down. I don't want my characters, especially this one, somehow nerfed or deleted due to running these missions. My paranoia there has been that these missions usually involve exploits or cheating on some level, as they have in the past.
So, and this may be a question no one can answer, but how "safe" are these missions considered in that regard? -
This should be expected. The original CoH content did not go all the way to 50 either (nor did CoV) until some time after release.

Quote:There was mention upthread that there will be an entrance from Talos Island hero side. That implies some ambiguity whether only characters in that range would have access, or if any hero could travel there via the Talos entrance. Will the new zone be available for primal characters via Ouroboros or even any new primal character created once they reach level 20?
I am planning on creating a few characters to try the new Galaxy zone out and it would be nice to look at this new zone also once they reach level 20.
However, all Primals can gain access to Praetoria via Pocket D/Studio 55 right now, so I am going on record as assuming that, at the very least, we could use the entrances in Praetoria to get into First Ward to at least see the zone itself. -
I've had this issue for a long time now, and started up this thread on in a bit ago:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...04#post3599804
Note that I never followed up on my CS ticket outcome because CS never followed up with me on it, twice. So, I gave up and just get frustrated when trying to drop the powers. Sigh. -
Quote:Great suggestion!Welcome back!
To add to what flipside is saying, you might try something that I find *VERY* useful: on all my level 50s, I bind a key to open (or close) the Incarnate Abilities window:
/bind i toggle incarnate
You can, of course, use any key instead of "i", but I find personally that I don't use that key for anything else, and it kind of fits nicely, too.
Best of luck with the new content! -
Thanks for the responses. I really want to keep both powers in the mix, but I'm having trouble finding a power to toss out to keep them both. I'm thinking Combat Jumping will be the power to axe. I'll need to find that extra recharge somewhere else.
Thanks for info all! -
The screenshots of the new zone(s) look awesome. I really hope the legacy zones in CoH/V get the same treatment as time goes on. And I for one am looking forward to our new giant flying sea turtle overlords.

But it's not a new archetype, it's a new powerset for a few existing archetypes. You're confusing several key terminology pieces in this thread.
