Quote:Pretty much. I want to thank everyone for their responses. The reason I asked the question was that I am needing to roll up a defender to assist in AV/GM defeats, and I wanted to use Radiation if I could as I never really played it and the most current info I knew about the set was several years old. This thread has brought me up to speed, and thankfully the powerset is still as powerful as I remember it being.Looking back at the thread title, though, wasn't it pretty much over at "Yes"?
Thank you all again! -
Thanks everyone! Much appreciated!

Quote:Your original post, every post since then save for this one, and even the thread title are proposing that incarnate trials be used as the alternate route to get this accolades. I admit that my reading comprehensive fails sometimes, so I went back through each post since this is a short thread. Every suggestion you've made has been to make incarnate trials be the alternate path for these. That, in and of itself, makes no sense to tie it to any other accolade in the game. Incarnate content has its place and doesn't make sense to tie it to unrelated content. If that wasn't the intention of your suggestion, I think the thread needs to be retitled and the OP be updated.I did address all of this, but it probably got lost in all of the fuss. For one, the accolades aren't to be tied to ALL trials present and future, nor are all accolades necessarily to be included. Simply put, most if not all accolades are to be tied to specific tasks via trials, whether that be incarnate trials or future trials as an alternative route to obtaining them.
Let's take Geas for Example. Instead of going through Croatoa hunting Jack, etc etc, there is a trial set up where you must defeat both GMs as deal with Mary, all the while fighting off the minions of Croatoa. It seems quite a bit more exciting than just hunting and running khtf. Maybe even keep the KHTF after, but i'm just giving an idea.
It seems TF commander is the only one that wouldn't "make sense" which is the least of my worries in a game where I play for F - U - N! But regardless it doesn't have to be included. Just fix those extremely boring repetitive TFs.
Now, if you are saying that they institute a new task force or trial whose contents satisfy the entire needs of an accolade when it is completed, now we have a suggestion that sorta works. However, that new task force or trial better be equal in time and effort needed to the "original route" to get said accolades, otherwise you are creating an imbalance.
I'd also like to touch on the topic of "playing for fun", as you've said it several times in your posts:
Quote:Id rather have to do ten different trials for accolades than get them in the current boring fashion. After your 30th toon it kinda just becomes silly. -
I'm going to add in my vote for "no" and "this suggestion doesn't make a lot of sense." Strictly looking at the hero accolades for examples, the accolades are obtained for performing specific in-game tasks. Task Force Commander, for example, is all about completing each of the Freedom Phalanx task forces. The reason is for you to experience that content. Whether we feel the task forces are boring or not is irrelevant (but I do agree, they all need updating). The reason still stands; the devs gave us a reward for seeing and completing all that content, and the in-game story for such an accolade is that you completed each of these "difficult" tasks the Freedom Phalanx tossed at you, earning you the Task Force Commander accolade. I do no see how it makes any sense that, as a secondary route, for you to earn such an accolade by completing the unrelated Incarnate Trials. That content has nothing to do with the Freedom Phalanx task forces and has all of its own in-game accolades associated to those accomplishments.
Also, something like Task Force Commander is nearly set in stone as the Freedom Phalanx task forces were in the game before the accolades were. But, the Incarnate Trials? We are having one added with every issue and nearly every half issue, with a long way to go with 5 as-of-yet unlocked incarnate slots. In your suggestion, how do you account for new trials added? Do we take away your accolade until you fulfill the "new" requirements of now having to have completed the Diabolique trial when it comes with Issue 22? There's a lot of holes in this suggestion. -
To store the influence, I know one method used is market transaction bids. You make "X" number of bids at "Y" for an item that adds up to 2 billion. The "Y" value is what you are comfortable making on said item ensuring that you don't accidentally buy them by mistake. For example, bidding 200 million on a Gladiator 3% recipe is a fairly safe bet at the moment as the going rate is near or at 2 billion itself. Doing this, you can "store" 2 billion influence in one market transaction. Currently I have one character with 27 market slots so, if I had that kind of influence, I could theoretically store 54 billion on the market in that single character.
In reference to how 2+ billion sales occur, they take place outside the market. Usually someone posts a thread here in this forum saying that have one for sale at X amount and someone else buys it. They meet up in game, funds and recipe are switched, life is good. -
Just read the announcement and it appears there will be 3 new badges coming with the Spring Fling event:
Widow Maker
Match Maker
Missed Connection
I know the event isn't live yet, but just wanted to confirm if it is known if these are all the badges or if there are more that are not listed in the official announcement. Thanks in advance! -
And you learn something new every day. I have been using "-maxinactivefps 1" for this, but I'm assuming "-stopinactivedisplay" just freezes the video feedback on an inactive session window? I've never seen that command line option before.

I've read the OP 5 times now and I still don't understand what he's saying. I know there are 5 minute inspirations in the Paragon Market, but, yeah I don't understand it.

Quote:Nah. While I do have two computers, both are several years old and have only had minor upgrades over the years. They are far from optimal machines. Yet, I follow Coulomb2's procedure pretty much below...I am unsure how you load 8 instances of the game. Do you peeps have space command centers for desktops? lolololol
Quote:With one instance running: log on with each character I'll use to fill, one at a time, and move them to the zone where the TF starts (can skip this step if I can start it using LFG - like the DFB trial).
Turn everything way down. WAY down. Then load up to five instances of the game on my first computer, and up to three on my second computer (basically, however many I'll need to meet the minimum to start).
Team 'em up. Start the TF. Then quit to desktop for everyone but my main.
Turn my graphics back up.
Greatly enjoy playing the TF at a slow, leisurely pace (sometimes over several days), carefully reading all mission text and clues. -
Quote:For me, it doesn't have to do with the ease or difficulty of the trial. I never "expect" to win any trial I walk into. The problem with the TPN trial for me is the terrible writing and supposed story to go with it. There's nothing interesting there for me. Maybe there is a decent story waiting to be told under the piles of repetitiveness, one-shot-Maelstrom kills, and endless "who is H.D., where is he, and why do I care if he lives" questions. There's just nothing interesting there to grab my attention.I'm not sure what bizarro world you people are living in, TPN is one of my favorite trials, and it's pretty easy so I'm not sure why it doesn't get run as often as BAF at this point. Compared to Minds of Mayhem, which is unpleasantness wrapped in misery which I'm pretty sure I've never even successfully completed. I can't imagine preferring that suckfest to TPN.
I've gone into each iTrial with an open mind looking at the story being told and why I'm there doing what I'm doing. When the game mechanics are so bad to me that I lose sight of the story instantly and focus more on the grind in front me, that to me is a problem with the writing and presentation. Yes, I will stand here and say that I prefer the Minds of Mayhem trial over TPN. It has an interesting story, difficult or not. I never failed a TPN trial, but I have failed MoM trials. But, for me, the MoM trial doesn't have crap game functionality in front of me drawing my attention away from the story being told, and I can enjoy it much more.
I've run the TPN trial exactly 3 times, got all the badges associated with that trial, and never ever plan on setting foot in it again. -
I completely agree. If you are playing a Shield Defense character, the shield IS a weapon. The missing weapons in this pack make no sense, even with the idea of gating it behind the ITF.

Thanks for the confirmation! Is there a way to determine how many players it would take to hit the caps in these areas?

Follow-up question: do the "big 3" toggles on a Rad Emission character stack for multiple characters? I.e., if two Rad Emission characters use Lingering Radiation on the same target, do the debuffs stack?
-
Great to hear! Thanks!
Did that, but Cold Domination didn't really suit what I was wanting to do with the character. Thanks though! -
It has been some time since I played the Rad primary set for Defenders. The last I played it was some years ago when Radiation was the rage as it was the go-to powerset for dealing with all the AVs and GMs who had ridiculous regen stats.
I'm looking at rolling up a character that will really help with bringing down AVs and GMs. I recalled Radiation was great at this at one time, but before I jumped into the boat again, I wanted to hear from the community if it was still good at this. I haven't paid attention to the powerset for years and don't know what changes have come along that may have changed the power behind the powerset.
Thanks in advance! -
Nothing to see here. I can't find a link to what I thought was the answer, so don't want to spread mis-information.
-
Great info, thanks everyone for the help! Much appreciated!

Pretty much as the title questions, how much iXP do you get from converting one Incarnate Thread for either Physical or Psychic iXP? The in-game help doesn't say, and I couldn't find the info on ParagonWiki anywhere.
Thanks in advance! -
Quote:Seriously! I would buy an app that did this, for up to $5.A mobile app to do administrative work while you're not playing? Seriously?
Additionally, I'd love it if an app allowed me to use my account login to chat with people in my global friends list and/or already joined chat channels. -
Just want to note that, yes while the 3 big name ones will bring in some good influence, if you have the extra time to research, you will likely find a better deal on sheer influence per hero merit. When I did my converts, all 3 were below the max influence per merit I was able to find.
-
Quote:This is great advice to get over that hurdle. The Alpha Incarnate level shift is easy to get now with just a few iTrial runs and will make this a non-issue.The way I solved the issue of getting unwanted lvl 49 IOs, Incarnate level shift. Get to 51 and then you can mow down 50s and get the best of both worlds. It gets even easier the more Incarnate powers you gain, last week I got 5 purples, mind you they weren't any of the ones I needed or wanted but hey...

I had to do this recently as well (needed to convert a hero to villain and didn't want to lose the HM's). My experience is in direct purchases and sales; i.e., purchasing a recipe directly from the vendor and crafting/selling it instead of doing random rolls.
What I did was go through the list of crafted IO set recipes across most levels and mark down anything that was selling extremely high. I then went to the hero merit vendor, marked down what it cost per IO and figured out which recipe netted me the best potential influence per hero merit. At the time I did this, it was about 75 million per hero merit was the best I could find.
I must note above about searching through "most levels". Depending on the recipe, the level will matter on how much it sells for. For example at the time, a Rectified Reticule: 10 was selling for about 10 million or something, but a Rectified Reticule: 20 was selling for about 80 million.
Again, this is for direct purchase and sales. I don't have any experience with random rolls as the RNG and I have a restraining order against each other. -
Firstly, welcome back to the game!
Next, I don't have a full DM/Regen build to toss out, but those two sets should keep your endurance bar fairly full in the early game, especially up to 25. You have inherent Stamina which you should 3-slot with endurance modification SO's. In Regen, you'll have Quick Recovery. Take that and 3-slot it with endurance modification SO's. Dark Melee also has a trick in Dark Consumption that pulls endurance from enemies and gives it back to you. With all those, your endurance should never be a problem.
I've played several Regen Scrappers to 50, but never a Dark Melee one. The most endurance heavy one was a Broadsword/Regen who ran all the Leadership toggles and Focused Accuracy (this was long before Inventions). With just Stamina and QR, I never really had an endurance problem.
Hope this helps! -
Quote:[sarcasm]Not true! I searched for Dillo's page and there wasn't much information on him or his powersets![/sarcasm]Paragonwiki should have articles about every major NPC, just type their name in the search box and go. Each article should link to a group page with powerset listings.
Sorry, just popped into my head and I had to share. *hoorb*
