What is the best way to spend Hero Merits

Hello,

I have 3 Hero Merits and was wondering if I could get some advice on the best way to spend those for use with the market or private sales.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Cheers!

I had to do this recently as well (needed to convert a hero to villain and didn't want to lose the HM's). My experience is in direct purchases and sales; i.e., purchasing a recipe directly from the vendor and crafting/selling it instead of doing random rolls.

What I did was go through the list of crafted IO set recipes across most levels and mark down anything that was selling extremely high. I then went to the hero merit vendor, marked down what it cost per IO and figured out which recipe netted me the best potential influence per hero merit. At the time I did this, it was about 75 million per hero merit was the best I could find.

I must note above about searching through "most levels". Depending on the recipe, the level will matter on how much it sells for. For example at the time, a Rectified Reticule: 10 was selling for about 10 million or something, but a Rectified Reticule: 20 was selling for about 80 million.

Again, this is for direct purchase and sales. I don't have any experience with random rolls as the RNG and I have a restraining order against each other.

Thanks very much.

Sound logic to me. I'll do some research and go from there.

2 merits buys any of the "proc" recipes like Miracle +Rec, Numina +Rec/+Reg or LotG +Recharge. Those can run in the 100 million range, either at level 50 or at the minimum level.

Or if you feel lucky you can take a roll. As a rule, if you're at say 30-33 I would take the roll; that's the level that people have the slots to really start thinking about IO sets, so you have a reasonable level of demand even for non-uber IOs. Anywhere else I would generate procs since you can pick the level. It's all about being able to move the product quickly.

Just want to note that, yes while the 3 big name ones will bring in some good influence, if you have the extra time to research, you will likely find a better deal on sheer influence per hero merit. When I did my converts, all 3 were below the max influence per merit I was able to find.

I look to the Kinetic Combats. There are some pieces that cost you 1 HM that will sell for as much as 100 mil. So for two merits you might snag more than you would for the Miracle. YMMV.

For Kinetic Combats I believe the D/E and D/R both cost 1 HM and are going for around 50M, while the D/E/R costs 2 HM and is going for 100M. Surprisingly consistent. Any commonly known big ticket item will probably be similar. I'd be surprised if Miracle, Numina, or LotG procs were significantly different. But that's because enough people know about them to regularly buy them with HM and sell them on the Market. If you look for the less commonly known rare items like flipside suggested, you can probably find a better value. It just takes time.

As to the best way to spend Hero Merits, I'll tell you a week or so after I22.

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.

Going through all the IO's, all the levels is probably overkill. MOST of your demand is either at max level or min level (for things like LoTG Defense, or Celerity Stealth). There are a lot of overlooked items- often overlooked by me, in fact. (Someone reminded me about Basilisks the other day...)

Whatever you end up with, be sure to craft it- that 50 M Kinetic Combat recipe is usually a 70-80 M IO once you put 2 million inf and 5 minutes into crafting it.

If random-rolling, I advise doing it at 30,32,33, or 35. Those are traditionally where demand is in the mid-30s and there's not a lot of supply at those levels (because if you're level 50 you can't generate level 33s in bulk.) I don't know how random rolls vs. selecting works out at level 50- randoms are probably worth slightly more on average, because it's more work to craft five things than one, but Random is Random [tm]. I did an entire 30x30 (6 hero merits -> 30 recipes, all level 30) recently and didn't get a single big-ticket item. As I'd sold it for 600 million sight unseen, it was quite embarassing.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
