Quote:I know how you can start saving at least $15. a month to go towards you a home.....I am still completely confused why anyone even gives a **** about salvage. I really am. If it hurts you this much to purchase it from the market... don't buy it there. *boggle*
Go to AE and roll some up. Use your merits and roll some up. Or *gasp* go play the game and get some for free. You have choices here people. Yet, you treat this like the market is the only way to get salvage. Its not. It is the most convenient, and therefore *gasp* you pay more.
Are you the kind of people who go to the local convenience store and ***** out the clerk for the price of their milk / bread / whatever because it costs more than the grocery store?
If you are petitioning for the rights of the poor in a video game, you've got some serious issues that need to be addressed. Its a game. Its not real life and it most definitely not the store or the stock market or anything else that's "real". Its a game.
Most of the people screaming "murder" claim they have money. If you're here to petition for some imaginary person who may or may not have enough money, instead of ******** about it here, why not do something about it? Have you gone out and farmed salvage to increase supply and drive down demand? Have you gone out and identified markets that are being flipped and outbid the flipper by one, turning around and listing yours for 0 profit (Have you flipped the flipper?) Have you offered people a way to make more money in this game? Have you shown them how to save money in this game?
Well?
Doesn't anyone find it odd that the people you are so eager to crucify are the same ones freely giving out advice on how to save money and how to make money, while most of the complainers do nothing of the sort?
If you like, here is an excerpt from my "Keep your Shirt Guide" which outlines why bid creeping salvage is a worthless waste of time:
*LINK*
Salvage is such a small portion of your actual cost of any build that in the end, it really does you no good to even worry about it a little. Why step over a $5 bill to pick up a penny?
Once again, it confuses me to absolutely no end that people get SO up in arms over salvage. It is by far the most worthless thing in this game. Yet people storm in here all huff-and-puff like salvage prices are what drive the economy. They demand the Devs "fix" the system and prevent flippers for "exploiting" the casual players.
Who are these casual players that are being exploited?
Who's out there saying "damn, I wish I didn't have to save up for that Al Silver I need". If this guy exists, how on earth is he going to manage paying the crafting cost? Is there really people out there who are determined to use crafted IOs that have 0 inf to their name? Why aren't these people using SOs? Those are fixed price and have no wait times involved at all. Why are they sitting at the market pondering the price of salvage instead of going out and playing the game?
And why, oh please tell me why, anyone deserves to get exactly what they want, the moment they want it. "I want a house! Someone go build me a house for $5,000 because that's all I can afford! Do it NOW! Kgo! - Oh, and make sure it has 6 bedrooms and a pool! I'm not taking any low end piece of crap! My $ is worth the same as your $!!" -
Quote:Yea, i know. I just find it more boring than farming. But that's me. At least farming, i get to bash stuff! LOL. Although, i may do like alot of you and just sit a dummy toon at WW bidding and selling. lol. O well, can i be in "the in crowd" nao?!?!? (jk of course)If you can clear a million in two hours flipping low-end salvage (buy at 2k, sell 30k+) with no previous experience of flipping, just think what you could do with certain recipes (buy at 5mil, sell at 20mil+).
That's why marketeering is so popular amongst those who discover it and don't mind using the market. -
If you plan on purping the toon soon, keep. If not, sell... imo.

Quote:I know a good place for Bob to get stuck, too..I highly doubt that there is a game mechanic that allows things such as salvage, recipes, and enhancements to drop from critters in this game. Unless there is some new TF I haven't heard about?
Screenshot or it didn't happen imo.
Everyone and I mean everyone knows that flippers generate all of the salvage in this game. This is how they control the market and induce casual players to pay hundreds if not thousands of inf for something like a piece of salvage.
Incidentally, this particular NMI has sentimental value. It is the one I purchased for 500 inf when Goat was trying to buy them all.
I like this salvage so much, I think I shall give it a name.
People, I am pleased to inform you that the above NMI has been named Bob. Bob is for sale for 666,666,666 inf.
Come and get him!

Well, i went to flip earlier to see what all the fuss was about. I just did some simple pieces of salvage. Ruby and Steel. I place a stack of 10 on each. I bid 2222 for each of the stacks.(they were selling for 50k each or so) I logged for an hour to go get my son from school. When i got back I had bought each of the stacks. I relisted to sell for 22k each. I went to farm with my cousin for an hour. Went back to WW and they had all sold for anywhere from 30k-50k each and i made somewhere in the ballpark of 1mil inf on all of them.
Small number indeed. I make a ton more selling recipes, but its easy inf. Not really worth it for me to search thru for pieces to play with. Id rather play my toons and just sell drops. Though i can't complain because imma buy it nao guy usually but the stuff can be bought easily with time invested. Salvage wise, recipes are different due to drop rates and all.
My conclusion is that flipping isnt all that bad because people decide to pay more for getting it asap. But i still dont like the idea of buying up ALL of stuff in order to just raise the prices for everyone else. That to me says alot about someone. And i hope they arent like that in real life. That's all for now. -
Or just do a BM map and get 6 of those for free....
-
I assume youre refering to Kinectic Combats. I roll 25-29 and get alot in that range. Also, ToD's. I get alot of Numinas, Oblits, and Miracles in the 35-39 range.

It's funny. The "flippers" call foul at the "non- flippers" calling foul.... Endless circle. If someone disagrees with the market "gurus" they're "stupid", "lazy", or whatever else you can think to call people.
How are you gonna tell Minotaur the he dont know what prices he use to pay? I guess i didnt pay 30mil for purples either?? And not just sleep ones...
I dont blame flippers for raising prices, but they aren't helping the market as much as themselves and anything else is non truth, imo. You aren't making me WANT to buy the good recipes, the bonuses do that.
It's the ones using "niches" that are causing the prics to inflate, imo. Combined with low drop rates = disaster for people that don't want to "play the market for influence". I just want to be able to buy recipes when i want them without worrying about people messing with the market.... Don't even mention A-Merits. The time needed for those are a joke, imo. I can farm and end up finding what i want in that time... -
How does the flipper make things worth buying/ selling? The ONLY reason i buy stuff is for the IO's that i want. It has NOTHING to do with making a buck. So, the flipper hurts people like me then, right? Because all he has really done is raise the price of that item that i wanted... (if i buy his and someone who had listed it cheaper)
-
The Flipper doesnt maintain steady supply. The people that get the recipes and put them on the market, maintain the supply. All the flipper is doing, is crafting and making money. Things that anyone can do, but are too lazy to. (myself included) Ill pay 20mil instead of 10mil just to avoid having to buy salvage, run to base to find out 1 recipe had the same piece as another and back to the market, lol.
Jeet, you dont have to pay more. Buy the recipes and not the crafted. Youll save a ton. If you dont believe me, look at some recipes that you want compared to the crafted forms. Most of the time, it's 50% less or more. Is the markup redidculous? Most of the time, yes. But if you don't like it, buy the recipes. -
Quote:Well, can u add me to global and use some on my new SG base?Well - how about this:
I am destroying inf because I can. And I want to.
The same question could be posed to many things in this game:
Why spend 2 bil on a PvP IO?
Why spend WAY more than what I have destroyed on purples for a build that is marginally better with them?
Why race to 50 (as so many do) when 90% of the content you do is around level 30?
Why have costume contests? Why give out "prizes" for something as arbitrary as your opinion? Why hold a contest to guess what I'm spending on my Dom?
Why is a level 50 enhancement worth so much more than a 49?
Its a simple answer to all of these and it comes down to the same thing:
Its my $15 a month. I'll have fun any way I want. I expect you to do the exact same thing. Have fun any way you want!
Regardless - why does anyone care what someone else does with their inf? If I burn it on prestige or hoard it across 8 servers, the end result is still the same.I can pl toons at ease, but am not using my inf for prestige. The % is way to screwed up.
-
Quote:I still dont get it. To each their own, yes. But like i said, a couple people burning 200bil inf an hour has nothing to do with me farming all week and selling drops. Yes, you may not afford it but the other guys that farm and IO toons sure can. Like i said, WW isnt hurting at all from you burning INF.Ok, I see your point greystar. You think its a waste of time.
I can sort of agree with that.
However, I see it like this:
You create character A. You slot out Character A with everything your little heart desires. You then slot out Character A's 2nd build with everything your little heart desires. Character A then does a TF. What is the inf you generate from that TF going to be spent on? Another character?
Great! But the same applies - and eventually, you will run out of things to spend your billions on. Its one of the things I really like about this game - you can actually have "enough" money. Sure, you can always have more - but there's a point somewhere that every inf you make over that will never be spent.
For me, I can make a bil in about 2 weeks not trying very hard through the market.
I can "trick out" a toon putting in all of the IOs I am willing to pay for (purples make no sense to me - I have yet to slot them) and spend about 400-600 mil total. So as long as I am not making 4 new characters a week and leveling them to IO slotting stage, I have "too much" inf.
If I choose to blow it on an SG that has no purpose other than destroying inf, bully for me! If I want to give it away to someone else for guessing a number, bully for me! If you want to create 20 alts and hide billions in the market bidding on things that don't sell, bully for you! But you really should find a way to have some fun with your inf. Its not like you're playing a game or something...
Ive been playing since 2004, and pl'ing toons. I IO them if i like them, delete if not. Then do it all over again with different builds. With all the possibilities, burning inf seems the least fun, lol. IMO. -
-
I dont get it either. If, say, Fulmens destroys 500bil, how is that lowering the prices that so many others try to get raised? I dont think a few people blowing what they have is helping anything. If so, then why has the prices steadily gone up? It's supply and demand, right? So, destroying your inf, doesn't help at all in that case.... IMO.

Quote:This... Too bad youre not on Justice so id have a partner in crime...Ah. See, I was talking about the best farmer. I didn't make my farm toons to play and enjoy so much as to mitigate the insane grind my "regular" toons would have to do to get IOs and purps.
I like playing my farmers, but their purpose is to farm, not enjoy content. I usually just use them to feed money and drops to my others.lol.

How would a DM/SD do? Or DM/Inv? Im thinking about trying one of them, just not sure which. Or is claws that much better?

Quote:I was kind of thinking the same thing. Certain times of the day for drops. I know my wife was farming for a week. Every morning between 7-8 am. I take a break at 8am at my job. Everyday that week she txtd me before i went to break saying that she had gotten a purple. EVERY day that week. She made over a billion dollars in 4 days. (before they started selling for 3-600mil) lol. Here is a theory supported by multiple people in my SG. It's called the Purple Window Theory (TM). It's about as random and insane as the regular drop thought, however, it supports the streakiness that the RNG likes to do sometimes. We even tested it tonight and it worked! Here's what it is:
The random generator picks a time of day, then a random period of time from 3 minutes to 10 minutes. During that time, a purple may drop on, we have believed to be, a 1 in 750 to 1 in 1500 chance. When you are not in the RNG's window of opportunity, then you will not get a purple, no matter how many mobs you kill. Period. The support of this theory is as follows:
Over the course of my 5 months in this game, I have seen the following happen a total of 26 times:
Random person in Global Channel: "Hey guys, just got a purple!"
Within 3-10 minutes later, people in coalition, the team I'm on, and other global channels say the same thing. However, at any other time in that day, not a single person in all 7 of my global channels and none of the hundreds of people in my coalition got a single purple drop.
Or, as it has happened this week... At exactly 12:45:06 EST Tuesday, my friend got an Armageddon drop. That same friend got a Hecatomb at 12:46:26 EST Wednesday, and then we tested it tonight, and at exactly 12:43:55 EST Thursday, another Armageddon dropped, and 2 people on the same team got purples within 4 minutes of that one dropping. Then after 12:48, not another purple dropped the next hour they were on.
It may or may not be as random as people think. I also believe that there are 2 Purple Windows, one for your not-so-popular ones, like your Sleep/Confuse/Immobilize sets, then the one with the more popular ones, AKA the damage purples. It's a theory worth testing. I, personally, have only had 1 purple drop on me in the 5 months I've been playing (about a week ago), but I also play a lot of lowbies. My time spent on my 50s is miniscule compared to my time levelling up toons.
Either way, random is random, lucky is lucky, streaks are streaks. You play the game, you have fun, and you squeal like a giddy little schoolgirl when you see Recipe Found!
I havent been able to test it lately because she finished school and started working... I guess real INF is more important. lol... -
Quote:Nice Vid. I have an Elec/SD scrapper IO'd but DM looks like it does more damage than Electric. (not the charges, just the attacks)
-
I farm with the norm, Fire/Kin, Spines/Fire (which i relly dislike), and Elec/SD/Fire.
I made an Elec/Kin/Fire and purpled him out to farm test. I can handle +2x8 w/bosses. It takes longer to kill than Fire/Kin but is prolly safer due to the hold and sleep that has a KD effect in it, not to mention they dont have any end to attack back. lol. It's a beautiful farmer but not as efficient....
I have a friend that has a Fire/Psi Dom. He loves is and took it to blue and said hes gonna roll another because its a better controller than the controller. Not to mention perma Dom...
I may go with a Plant/Thorny Dom and try to farm that. Should be a cheaper rech powerset due to Holds, Confuse, and Sleep purples. -
-
How does buying all the recipes and deleting them, causing even less available, make the prices go down? I don't get it. What happened to the whole supply vs. demand argument that the market forum lives by? Now, less product = cheaper? Hmmm. Odd...
-
Ive been buying lotg 7.5's for 111mil crafting and selling for 175-200... That good?
