Other Details: Heavy board-oriented RP; ongoing VG story arc. Some restriction on magic-origin chars- contact an officer. -
It would be nice, if it's possible, to have some floor pieces that duplicate some of the details in for example the ship maps- floor grates with pipes underneath, etc. Not sure, though, if those are actually 3d parts of the map, or dropins.
-
This is about appearance rather than performance- so far my FM/SH scrap has had no problems, esp. when running w/a friend's pacted SH/Ice tank- but we're also only in mid-levels, so that could change.
The late addition of the energy, dark, and a few other shield types was way cool. Can we please revisit the fire shield, and get one that looks like...you know...fire? Instead of a hot rock, or burning piece of plywood, or whatever it is? Nice, translucent, animated flames? An arcane shield, similar to dark but w/swirling runes would be cool (this was mentioned elsewhere by someone else as an aura option, and it's a great idea). So would a bone shield for all those demonic types- either a cluster of bones embedded in metal or something, or a big ribcage w/a handle. -
If you use the one that looks sort of like a fan or a spray of water (sorry, away from the game right now, can't be more specific), and set your SG colors to grey while placing it, it will show up as transparent.
-
Horizontal cable bundles, wall-mounted control panels (animated or non-), pipes horizontal, vertical, and bent with and w/o valves.
How about actual DOORS, besides the rather silly restroom trio? -

Day Jobs feel incomplete because you are missing some iconic day jobs (Reporter, Wealthy Playboy, Soldier), some which would make sense in the setting (Librarian, Construction worker / Dockworker, Firefighter) and some which folks want but there are no logical places to put said jobs (Priest, Astronaut).
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, a number of landmarks that seem to cry out for associated Day Jobs are lacking them ATM.
To name a few Redside alone: WSPDR building, Giza, Pit/Hellforge, Carnie camp. Mercy Clocktower... -

Snow_Globe,
We realize that Positron set an expectation, however this was done without consultation of our publishing schedule. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Unfortunately this is the only date before next year we can grant this gift.

I'm really NOT trying to flame. But given that we have two days a week already slotted for regular maint., and that of late they have never run the full scheduled time- is adding a FOURTH morning of DT to a week immediately following the start of an event really the 'only' way to handle this? -
Just adding my bleated 'thank you' for stepping up, Sunstorm.

Like creating very small themed SGs? Tough. If you can't commit to build an sg, why bother? Teams does the same thing.

[/ QUOTE ]
That's right. How DARE you not stand around Mercy, spamming badly-typed broadcasts touting your cookie-cutter SG, and pelting everyone who steps out of the Tutorial with blind SG invites. Bases are all about PRES [censored], and coaxing random strangers into your group so you can build MOAR NAO!

NOPE
Oh, and here's another way of looking at that list of TIER 1 arcane recipes
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the feedback.
You don't say if those prices are from Live or Test, and I haven't personally had a chance to check it out. But if from Live, then those prices do NOT reflect the massive increased demands for Magical rares that will result when I13 goes live. Yes, I'm aware that you can 'craft', if you will, INV salvage from base salvage. At, IIR 40:1 for a rare. For a large group with many overstuffed salvage bins, this is a great deal. For smaller groups, or 'alts-only' sorts, this may very well result in the 'new cheaper' bases being far more expensive to add functionality to than before, at least until the initial 'feeding frenzy' dies down. And it'll be a boom market for farmers.
Unless I'm missing some piece of the puzzle- which is quite possible. -
Pittance? EVERY Tier 1 Arcane item calls for Luck Charms which fluctuate from about 8k apiece (minor) to 40k or more. That's NOW, not when the market gets slammed by dual-purposing salvage. And that's also ONE ingredient, for ONE TIER ONE item.
Unless drop rates are changed, this is nothing compared to the lamenting you will see when 13 goes live, and EVERY group with a base, not jut the ones on Test, is competing for these same resources for both base and IO crafting.
*EDIT*
Just rethought this a little- are we ending up with the same CHANCE for a salvage drop, but with only one table? That would have the effect of doubling INV salvage drop rates, essentially. If so, no prob. -

This Trick or Treating... can it be done at any doors, or ones that are specifically slated for this event? Because any of them I try it says, "You cannot enter" and that's it. Any information would be appreciated.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also they have timers so that each person can only click so many doors per minute and each door can be clicked only so many times per minute. The timers are 30 and 60 seconds I seem to recall.
[/ QUOTE ]
For any given character, the timers are, IIRC, 10 seconds between door clicks and 5 minutes between clicking the same door. There does not appear to be any sort of timer preventing multiple characters from clicking on the same door in rapid succession; I was on a team yesterday where we were stacking 2-3 trickspawns to get good AoE payoff. Also note that each door is a separate entity -- if you go to the front of a skyscraper where there is a panel of four doors, you can click on each one at the 10-second interval, then all four are 'used' and you have to go elsewhere.
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently they are also level-keyed, I presume to prevent griefing. A level 41 in Martial, I find, will not be able to ToT at any door- (s)he'll have to go to Grand. I haven't tested this across the full level range, but it holds true for my 40+ and 50 chars redside. -
ESPECIALLY annoying when a Super Arachnoid decides it's time for his morning run. By the time he comes back/you catch up, he's pretty much healed. Rinse and repeat.

I'm still worried that with less rewards for the created content, that there will be a much smaller incentive to actually try them out.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a legitimate concern for folks who are not hard-core RPers, I agree. But I wouldn't panic until more info on exactly how the rewards are going to work is released. More time till release means, for the team, more time to think about things like that.
For me, however, the news that there will be customization available is a God(dev?)send. Most of my groups are heavily RP, and this will allow us to tie up loose ends with our invented NPC enemies by actually encountering them in-game. -
I AM curious to see how it handles logging off in your SG/VG base. Does it count you as 'on patrol', since you log back in in the street? Or is there a location flag for the bases, as well? hmmmmm....
-
Wow...imagine if the devs had decided to add NO new badges at all. This thread would be almost completely empty. Folks would be complaining elsewhere about the new powersets, instead. Or the fact that the MA is delayed.
While I see some problems with the Day Jobs (cookie-cutterism; who the Hades needs /more/ worthless Tech salvage drops; expect the Midnighters' Club to be mobbed full-time by farmers), it's an interesting idea, if not 'all that'. And I have no problem at all that I can't spam for a farm team, or DL a map and just stroll over and pick up that shiny I just HAVE to have NAO!
As open Beta approaches, expect whining about how the devs didn't list where EVERY logout location is, so we actually have to LOOK for them, instead of starting to glom all the new stuff on our test chars NAO! -
...but our MONEY is already in their BANK...

It's not as bad as the one time, they went through with a huge patch release.
Players got into the game only to find out everything was more messed up. It had to be rerolled back and the time waiting was a lot longer than this will be.
Least they caught this one in time.

Good point. -
Personally, I'm glad to see someone thinking about actually theming their character rather than just saying 'gonna roll an XYZ today'.
Will folks always argue about builds? Yes.
Is this guide a critical read in any way? No.
Is it a GOOD read? Yes.
Is the flame war unneccesary and embarassing? Hell yah. -

WHY NO EMP FOR CORR? ELF_STALKER
Empathy isnt a villainous trait, generally speaking. From a fiction standpoint, it will likely never be given to Villains as a set.
Back to thematics Empathy isnt really a villainous trait. From a fiction standpoint, it wasnt our first choice to port over and the reason corruptors didnt receive it in the first place as part of the release of City of Villains. If we were to add an Empathy Like set, it would need to be all new and not a port of it, to make it fit into the Villainous theme. As such, that fell out of the scope of Issue 12s powerset proliferation and is why it wasnt included.

Frankly, folks, as has been pointed out before, this argument is bull. Not everyone redside is playing a psycho thrillkiller with no human emotions or entanglements. And if we are talking about themes, I assume this means that heros will no longer get Death Shroud, or the ability to mangle people with axes, swords, and blunt objects? Sucking the life out of someone or using attacks with names like 'eviscerate' are, by your 'thematic' argument, not very heroic...In fact, to make it thematically correct, heros should have ONLY Brawl, perhaps a few holds, and new new 'wring hands ineffectually' power. -
[ QUOTE ]
as if it matered. Most people in PvP use cowards tactics anyway. for example: Think of blasters using TP foe to zap you out of your base then one shotting you with a build up bonesmasher attack. Cheesy gits.

You mean like 6-on-one mobscenes, like most PvPers seem to favor? -

How about.. moving the variouse seating around a touch (or tweaking the collision meshes or whatever its called..) so we can actualy sit down in the booths and at the stools around the bar tables?
Please?
