Let Paladins do that with Detect Evil.

In some cases, I imagine they do want to get that last bonus. Also, there's something said for simplicity - remember this game still is casual-friendly, so if someone wants to just chuck in 6 of a set, they'll likely have a good mix of the basic bonuses to the power (e.g. acc/dmg/rech/end) even if they're not worried about the bonuses themselves.

The way I learned IOs was SO, then Generic IO, then toss in sets to enhance those basics. It was a bit later before I started to bother with set bonuses as well.

Short of telling other people how to play the game, there's no wrong way to play.*

I thought the OP answered this already,

"I guess what I'm asking here is, am I missing anything? Is there a reason why some people just slot ALL their powers with a full of set IO's?"

I fail to see the problem in someone wanting to ensure that they're not missing something.
  4. To go along with Sharker's suggestion:

Menu > Options > General (First Tab)

GUI way to save and load chat settings.

Also helpful to do the same with windows.

You would perhaps be better served by sending him a case of motor oil, or any other lubrication he deems sufficent.

    Merciless, I say.

I wouldn't mind an auto-pay either, since I don't think the rent actually costs anything and it would keep the 4/6 week restricitons in place (loss of power/loss of access).

I figure it'd be easier to simply remove rent as a requirement than add in a new system, but if the devs actually decide to implement this, I'm open with either.

To me, it's a QoL thing - someone having to manually go do some pointless thing.

Remove either of those conditions and I'm good.

The only thing I can think of in the latter case is to render it unusable for coalitions and to keep a legacy restriction in place, if the devs wished for it to remain.

If it was up to me, I'd toss those two as well.
  8. Base rent these days doesn't really take a noticeable amount of prestige (what's the max, 2400-2500?), which is chump change for any base that needs to pay that.

For smaller bases, with a correspondingly lower amount, it's still not even significant, given how fast prestige can be earned.

The only thing it is now is a QoL issue - you get annoying notices to pay it and if it lapses, you have to go to AP/GC (not a big deal) or PO (more annoying for vils) to pay it.

On top of that, what does it accomplish? Nothing.

I say make a base lose power 4 weeks after the last person in a SG/VG logs in, after 6 weeks, make it inactive until someone in the SG/VG logs in.

People seem to to rapidly adjust their expectations with regards to what qualifies as "a lot of money" rapidly based on their own earning levels.
You should see a game like DDO, where there are copper, silver, gold, and platinum pieces...and stuff sells for tens of thousands of platinum, if not more.

At low level, getting 100 copper pieces is great; at even the low-middle levels (around 6 or 7), you don't even stop for bags of silver.
  10. Wait, if Venture will not be participating in a merged market, does this mean that according to the Network Effect, the market is doomed?

That's it, I'm not going to participate in a doomed endeavor - I'll be sticking to SOs from now on.
  11. I know of no rule in either channel prohibiting it.

    Market Merging

This makes things much cleaner and simpler for all concerned.

Because it fits into a standard pattern:

Bad player can't figure out an easy game, whines about wanting a nerf. Is corrected and people offer to help the player become mediocre, that help is ignored. Repeat.

This is a usual pattern. I come in and say I'm done with a thread, and a few individuals come back for a parting insult or two, knowing I will be back to respond to the insults.
    Simple solution: Make good posts.

Say whatever you like from now on. I am done here, the thread has served its purpose, and some illumination has been achieved. Thank you all.
LOL. The only illumination that's been achieved is the knowledge that despite what I previously thought, this game really is too hard for some people.
  16. from memory, except in rare cases where you're trying to sqeeze the last drop out of a power (Hasten), I don't put more than 2 of a 50 IO in any power.

  20. Of late, I've been doing tfs and radio missions on Freedom and it's honestly about the same mixed bag I see elsewhere - the only substantive difference from my home server is the /b.
