Quote:In some cases, I imagine they do want to get that last bonus. Also, there's something said for simplicity - remember this game still is casual-friendly, so if someone wants to just chuck in 6 of a set, they'll likely have a good mix of the basic bonuses to the power (e.g. acc/dmg/rech/end) even if they're not worried about the bonuses themselves.I know what people are slotting because I ask them. Especially when I was new to IO's, since I want to know what others are doing and their logic behind it. Of course, it's their build and I'm not saying it's a stupid idea or anything. Just wondering if there was another reason behind it or if I'm missing out on something I didn't know of.
The way I learned IOs was SO, then Generic IO, then toss in sets to enhance those basics. It was a bit later before I started to bother with set bonuses as well.
Short of telling other people how to play the game, there's no wrong way to play.*
*I take no responsibilty for people taking Whirlwind -
I thought the OP answered this already,
"I guess what I'm asking here is, am I missing anything? Is there a reason why some people just slot ALL their powers with a full of set IO's?"
I fail to see the problem in someone wanting to ensure that they're not missing something. -
To go along with Sharker's suggestion:
Menu > Options > General (First Tab)
GUI way to save and load chat settings.
Also helpful to do the same with windows. -
I hear Ocho is a merciless robot, without caring or compassion. I don't think he'd understand birthday wishes.
You would perhaps be better served by sending him a case of motor oil, or any other lubrication he deems sufficent.
Merciless, I say. -
Quote:I wouldn't mind an auto-pay either, since I don't think the rent actually costs anything and it would keep the 4/6 week restricitons in place (loss of power/loss of access).I don't mind the rent (as you point out, it's chump change) but a better way to pay it would be very welcomed. If, redside, we could pay it at any Arachnos Building (Oakes, Cap, Gville) that'd be a huge step forward. If we could select an "Autopay" option, that'd be even better.
I figure it'd be easier to simply remove rent as a requirement than add in a new system, but if the devs actually decide to implement this, I'm open with either.
To me, it's a QoL thing - someone having to manually go do some pointless thing.
Remove either of those conditions and I'm good. -
Quote:The only thing I can think of in the latter case is to render it unusable for coalitions and to keep a legacy restriction in place, if the devs wished for it to remain.Question: What's the point of making it lose power or become inacessible until someone logs in? If power/access is restored as soon as someone logs in, it makes no difference.
If it was up to me, I'd toss those two as well. -
Base rent these days doesn't really take a noticeable amount of prestige (what's the max, 2400-2500?), which is chump change for any base that needs to pay that.
For smaller bases, with a correspondingly lower amount, it's still not even significant, given how fast prestige can be earned.
The only thing it is now is a QoL issue - you get annoying notices to pay it and if it lapses, you have to go to AP/GC (not a big deal) or PO (more annoying for vils) to pay it.
On top of that, what does it accomplish? Nothing.
I say make a base lose power 4 weeks after the last person in a SG/VG logs in, after 6 weeks, make it inactive until someone in the SG/VG logs in. -
Quote:You should see a game like DDO, where there are copper, silver, gold, and platinum pieces...and stuff sells for tens of thousands of platinum, if not more.I'm not sure this would have that much of an impact. I know players of games where something like 1000 gold pieces is a huge investment, and they speak of that sum in the same breathy tones that folks use when talking about 80 million dollar lottery pots. People seem to to rapidly adjust their expectations with regards to what qualifies as "a lot of money" rapidly based on their own earning levels.
At low level, getting 100 copper pieces is great; at even the low-middle levels (around 6 or 7), you don't even stop for bags of silver. -
Wait, if Venture will not be participating in a merged market, does this mean that according to the Network Effect, the market is doomed?
That's it, I'm not going to participate in a doomed endeavor - I'll be sticking to SOs from now on. -
I know of no rule in either channel prohibiting it.

This makes things much cleaner and simpler for all concerned.
Except for altaholics who can't handle their RP. -

4 will cover you for the vast majority of things, easy.
I put in 12 on all of my toons that don't have kb prot from their primary/secondary only for hami raids. -
Quote:Because it fits into a standard pattern:You know, I find it oddly sad and depressing that people feel the need to make personal slurs like this, and then pat each other on the back for it. I have said nothing insulting or offensive to you, yet you find it necessary make this kind of thing your main contribution to the thead. What, did I run over your mother or something?
Bad player can't figure out an easy game, whines about wanting a nerf. Is corrected and people offer to help the player become mediocre, that help is ignored. Repeat.
Quote:This is a usual pattern. I come in and say I'm done with a thread, and a few individuals come back for a parting insult or two, knowing I will be back to respond to the insults.
Quote:Say whatever you like from now on. I am done here, the thread has served its purpose, and some illumination has been achieved. Thank you all. -
from memory, except in rare cases where you're trying to sqeeze the last drop out of a power (Hasten), I don't put more than 2 of a 50 IO in any power.
-
...and you've filled out bug reports and provided examples to other players so they could verify it, right?

Of late, I've been doing tfs and radio missions on Freedom and it's honestly about the same mixed bag I see elsewhere - the only substantive difference from my home server is the /b.
I should note, that as an aside, I've been impressed with the PUGs on Virtue - don't let the pocket-protectors and cat-tails fool you. -
