  1. Why do you think the devs are reducing the set bonus effects of Blessing Zephyr ??

Don't you think it would have been simpler to add a new set with similar less powerful bonuses and let some of the players go for that?

Personally i dont own any, I'm just trying to understand their thinking. It makes no sense
to me at all why they would lower the bonus of an existing set.

Are there any other sets getting nerfed with i17?

Why am i still at work? dammit i should be on my way home!! - ok you dont have to answer that one.
  2. i am not afraid. what are your opinions on 'i would rather die free than live in chains' ???
  3. What are the stats for physical perfection?

  4. I was wondering if the 3/18 patch (must have been small i didn't even notice it downloading) fixed the "exploit" I have been hearing so much about. I never knew what the "exploit" was (although now i think i got the idea), but i heard a lot about it in game and here on the forums.

So is the "exploit" closed ? (no i dont care what it is/was) just curious if its gone.
Hypothetically prices at the AH will go down a little now?

  7. Sorry that happened to you. Sometimes you just get screwed by lady luck. Over the weekend I dced out of an itf with 3 traitors left to kill, by the time i got back in 60 seconds later it was done. No merits. C'est la vie

    new laptop

I am sure this has been asked before so I appologize for the echo.

I am buying a laptop (my first) and I am wondering if I will be able to play CoH on recommeded settings with either of the following inexpensive laptops?

    http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-15...8965084&sr=1-3

    or

    http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-AS...2&sr=1-2-fkmr0

the first is an acer as5517 and the second is an acer as1410-2762. I saw them at a store and are probably not the exact model linked above.

My main question is a "ATI Radeon HD3200" is a much better video chip than a "Intel graphics media accelerator 4500MHD" correct? I believe any new model laptop will have enough processing power and ram to do fine. Running 3G wireless from the cable modem will be fine I believe as well.
any other things i need to know when buying a laptop for CoH?
  9. There was a thread a while back that asked "if you worked at NCsoft and could change any one thing what would it be?" and a lot of people said 24 month vets could start characters at lvl 20. Although this doesn't directly answer your question, I believe this is the only thing I personally could agree with. Buying lvls is just a bad idea. Buying lvls by new and inexperienced players is a worse idea. Being rewarded some lvls, to long time vets (theoretically more experienced) is reasonable.

  11. Personally I love it. It is the best power in the set imo (other will argue that im sure). It has a low acc base, however, very conveniently the Nightmare io set has +Acc

Thank you very much Funduilas for the simplified formula.
  14. I would like some kindhearted generous wonderful hero (or sinister villian) to check my numbers. Are they correct? This is a quick defense reference chart for critter to hit based on player D.

It is a simple straightforward excel doc, that shows the number of times a player will get hit out of a hundred attacks, broken down by critter type lvl and percent of player D.

Corrections and comments would be great. Thank you all in advance for taking a look.
  15. I am respecting my DA/DB out of acrobatics and getting knockback prot from sets. How much do i need? I do not PvP. My understanding was that anything over 6 pts was fine for PvE, but i see a lot of people are getting 10+pts in their builds. I was planning for 7, should i plan for more?

    Earth/kin help

That build looks pretty solid to me. It is very similar to my lvl 50 that i farm with. I didn't take earthquake or increase density, and i never missed them. I took assault and tactics mostly to help my team pre pet.

My attack chain now (at lvl 50) is to target the toughest mob, jump in, stalagmites, quicksand, stone cages, fossilize, siphon speed, siphon power, fulcrum and then go to town, transfusion as necessary. As you work your way to lvl 50 you will have to tweak to match your powers. I roll easily through mobs at +0/4 and i have NO sets bonuses.

Just a few general things you may already know. This build is very difficult pre pet, moreso than other controllers, due to the lack of strong attacks. You will do very little damage before 32 and i did not solo this character pre pet. Stone cages is an end hog, i had to take stamina at 20. I reserve the gas as an "oh ****" power, but with simple slotting you can easily have it ready everyother mob.

It is very challenging low lvl and then gravy later on. Goodluck.
  17. Well I worked on my DB tanker tonight trying hard to make the combos hit.
Not sure how much this will help the OP, but i'll add some thoughts that i hope will help him (and ME!). Maybe the DB set is not underperforming as much as i thought. I ran a nemesis door mish about 6/7 times solo fighting mobs of +1 - +3 of 3 to 5 critters per mob and i realized i may be looking for that big punch that the set doesnt have. It does well against multiple critters tightly packed. I have stopped and started on this charac so many times I think I got too involved in end maintanence and taunt management and never looked at my damage until very late and then said, WOW my damage is low.

I still dont feel as powerful as my /EM or /Stone (both lvl 50). I have said from the beginning, its quick, its beautiful, its low on end, it looks and acts less damaging than it is. I still hold to the fact that the combos are key. I tried weaken combo then empower then 1k cuts dozens and dozens of times and even fighting yellows with no debuffs and no vengence i rarely got all seven without a miss.

I am also still slotting up my attacks. As you can see. Ty Grey for taking a look. Yes i took murky cloud and sweeping very late. I realize i need a lot of rech in typhoons because that thing is great and necessary for combos often. I will definitely consider dropping acrobatics. As for stamina i have already purchased a 4 set of efficacy adaptor (lvl 50) that is just waiting to be slotted at 47.

I am going to keep working to make this build better. I still feel the DB set underperforms, but maybe tweaking the build and the playstyle will change that.
  18. Ok Grey Pilgrim, u asked to see my build, here it is. This is where im at. Powers were not necessarily taken in this order (but its close). Again I never said i dont like DB, I said it underperforms. Tell me what im doing wrong.

So you disagree with the OP as well. Your DB tanker performed well without reordering any powers. So what was your attack chain? Do you have any set bonuses? (I do not.) Did you herd? Or taunt?

If you pick a powerset then proceed to skip everything that's good about it, expect to be disappointed. Having a bad build doesn't mean the powerset itself is bad. What you've done would be comparable to playing Superstrength without Rage and Footstomp.

I've played an Inv/DB tanker using only BF + AV and it was perfectly fine (ST and AoE damage, accuracy, endurance use). Not a topdog in any of these categories but great in all of them.

Not really. You misunderstood all the research and thousands and thousands of attack chains i have tried to come to this solution. Sitting at lvl 40 i have ALL the powers in the DB set. Actually my attack chain is weaken combo then empower combo then one thousand cuts, which when done with no misses standing in front of 3 or more baddies tightly packed is absolutely GREAT. Reality is fighting +2lvl baddies with ~78% accuracy is rarely going to get you seven hits in a row. If on a team with tactics sure, but not normally. It is not that I have thrown out the best stuff without giving it a chance. I have tried everything. The set underperforms when you compare it to EM, Stone, Mace. I am still playing the set even though it is bad, because it is that beautiful. I have met scrappers in game that feel it is bad as well. Weaken and Sweep are great, unfortunately they share a power, so you need to have 2 diff chains. And attack vitals sucks.
  21. Also, if you are looking to drop a combo in order to take fewer attacks, I would drop attack vitals. Hands down no question. Weaken and Sweep are great. The other two I rarely rarely use. Enough though I have taken every power in the set to try all the combos I may respec out of the attack vitals power (forgot atm which power it is).
  22. Dual Blades underperforms as an attack for Tankers. Period. I have my DB tanker at lvl 40 and it has been an excercise in frustration and patience. DB starts ok and goes downhill. Low lvl you can only make one combo. Higher lvls the enemies have much better D and you cannot make the combos due to misses.

DB is quick. DB is beautiful. DB is low on end. DB does very little damage due to lethal resistance. DB is barely up to par when you consistently make the combos. When you dont make combos it isnt even close. DB can be fixed very easily; any one attack in a combo can miss and the combo still takes effect.

P.S. the powerup is useless, it is such a small buff on a well resisted damage type, i dont bother, powerup should be made +20%.
  23. personally i would take Cloak of Fear much earlier, much.
and OG and CoF in the same build? its an either or thing for me.
    i am sure some would disagree, but OG and CoF essentially result in the same result;
a lot less attacks directed at me.
  24. I'm not a numbers cruncher but I will tell you this from my Dark/DB tanker (lvl 40 and solos about 35%), I use CoD when running solo, because that slight bit of defense lets me solo +1 or +2 and I get hit less often. Maybe not a lot less often but less often enough that I dont need to use dark regen (heal) at all. When you heal running solo your end is gone and you cannot attack. So I never heal, kill a small mob, move on.
When running on a team, it becomes almost the exact opposite. CoD prevents so few attacks from coming in, I dont use it at all, because I am going to have to Heal either way. I turn on cloak of fear (best power in the set IMO) and that stops A LOT of attacks against me from even being attempted and again I dont need to heal (well sometimes but rarely). Obviously the ideal would be to use CoF while running solo, but that is impossible because you would run out of end in a second and not be able to attack.

P.S. I very rarely use CoD when teaming, however, on the rare occasion I have I have not noticed any reduction of aggro due to its "stealth". (IMO its not very stealthy)
