I'm not being arrogant. I'm just pointing out that super powered mercenaries can't really be classed as traditional super villains. They would be more modern super villains as back in the golden age of comics super villains usually wanted to either: A: Destroy the world B: Rule the world or C: Kill a specific hero
[/ QUOTE ]
That is true they are not traditional "villains", if anything they are more deadly as they are clever enough to realise that turning up with their death ray and threatening a city is going to get them stomped on hard.
I personaly think that the cover of a mercenary unit allows for much greater evil to be carried out....
Traditional comic book villains are ok, but there is a reason they are usually the rulers of some small made up nation....MONEY.
Its hard to be eeeeeevil if you are broke, and acting as a mercenary, or playing the markets can get you plenty rich
Most of my villains and heroes would be living on the street if it were not for backing provided by various groups, if they did not "freelance" occasionaly, but then I dont have any characters who multi-billionare geniuses or own a nation (like some of the most iconic characters from DC or Marvel).
If anything a mercenary company is more evil than a traditional villain, they make their "public" living from war and death, and often work for anyone who will pay. For them it pays to have a climate where war is spreading, the last thing they want is peace.
Yet they still can travel first class on public transport if they wish, they get to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, they get "courted" by inteligence communities of various nations, and can make an extra profit from arms trading.
They have an "open" army which can travel anywhere quickly and easily, compared to your traditional villains who are likely to get arrested on sight if they leave their home land, or placed under harsh trade restrictions by the world community...Being evil will be tough if you cant get toilet roll delivered :P
I am sure there are plenty of villain groups out there who are working for incredibly evil reasons, if you have not seen them, perhaps speaks a lot regarding their subtlty and insidiousness. -
[ QUOTE ]
On the one hand a evil because they are villian can be a bit of a joke, but on the other hand I can't stand those villians with the please be sympathetic oh-so-tragic emo-tastic back story which is really the same as a vast proportion of heroes but they turned evil insteed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah but thats entering into the grand old discussion of what makes a villain/evil.
If you look at most villains, unless they are suffering from some form of derrangement they they are hardly different from heroes at all. In a lot of cases the only thing seperating them is that heroes have the support of the "law" and in a lot of cases some groups dont even have that to mark them as different from heroes. -
1: People who do not run missions with their maps up.
This annoys the hel out of me, as it seems that whenever my defenders get on a team everyone loses their sense of direction and then whines when I am not able to protect them effectively.
2: People who seem unable to grasp that not all powers that give "green numbers" are auto hit or targeted at players. -
looks fun..
Now call me a noob, but why no vengence? -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok Hates your the only other group that isn't comprised of self centered mercs and petty thieves. But your still not a classic evil organisation. Your anarchists XD
Your classical evil organisation wants to rule the world for some simple ideological reason such as: "We don't like democracy". Which is GLEE's general attitude

Bah my main villain char is out to wipe out a good portion of humankind so humanity can meet his standards. The rest of the VG are not that nicer either :P -
Heh, on the plus side this did all help one of my characters get mightily drunk trying to find a sample of this plague
And it provided a new chat up line for him :P -
Personaly I found that I was able to achieve greater success with my un-tweaked non IO build stalker in pvp that I Was with an equivilent blaster.
Sure skill is needed to play all archetypes well in both pvp and pve, but the stalker does have a huge advantage with being a stealth AT.
Even now my high level blasters can get vaped by a min-pvp zone lvl requirement stalker if I dont pop insps or use external buffs/ temp powers.
Saying that stalkers are easier to do better with is not the same as saying "Stalkers are noobs, that require no skill", they are designed for a specific function and its one they excel at.
A lot of the arguments I have seen in the US allways seem to come down to "Yeah but I saw this blaster, and he was buffed by a defender..and he killed 20bjillion villains in one go, and killed my stalker!!111!!"
And people except it as a valid point..
Of course the blaster won, he was in a TEAM... Thats where Hero ATs usually shine. -
I must admit so far my time with my Kheldian has been a mixed bag, just hit 21 and on several occasions I have allmost given up. But not matter how tough some missions can be, I just love the play style, the frantic shifting of forms is fantastic.
-
The weakness to voids can be nasty (I was one shotted by a blue minion the other day) but as long as you are aware of your surroundings they do not pose much of a risk.
To be honest I think some Kheldian players tend to panic a bit to much with regards to Voids....When I see them I just pop an inspiration(if I have one) and make them the focus of my Alpha strike
Its only the Nictus egg things that make me pause. -
They are a walkthrough with stalkers, never had any trouble with them at all, with the only troubling part being endurance loss as most my stalkers at low levels really do burn the endurance.
I personaly go straight to bank, wait inside the lobby, kill the first mob as they come through the door usually with a cone attack from hide to inflict as much damage as possible, then take down the others.
Then ghost to vault, kill off any mobs near the vault if I am feeling fragile I will pick off some other enemy to give my self running room if needed.
Then Take down the vault,REST,get the money.
Then kill who ever comes to get me.
At low levels on the multi level bank this is even easier as you can ambush them as they come down the lift.
And use the lift to escape if things look to bad.
The key I think is to not overly rely on being in hide, we have many other melee powers and can still scrap things to death -
It has been a bit of a slog trying to get people to team and do my missions too.
Though I put some of it down to people just not recognising the mission names and assuming its an old mission all the time
I've just done all of the pre-lvl 20 stuff now, andmost of it I ended up doing solo, which was a pity.
I've also noticed I get a loss less invites on my Warshade or PB than I did on any other character. Which is annoying too. -

I always make a good pair with a brute, as long as we don't attack each others targets it's very nice xp
[/ QUOTE ]
When I used to play me /energy brute I used to have great fun with stalkers, being able to cloak and then poping out of cloak as the stalkers hit there targets was allways fun..Had some success in pvp for a little while too. -
[ QUOTE ]
My biggest problem with stalkers is that there are so many stalkers around who give them a bad name (in PvE):
- stalkers running ahead, clicking glowies (and possibly triggering ambushes) rather than helping the team by actually doing something useful
- stalkers using their AS and perhaps one or two follow-up attacks before running away from a fight to rehide... guys, being hidden is good, but not that good that you can pull your weight in a team by throwing AS + two attacks every 30 seconds...
- stalkers with the pressing urge to uncover the whole map ahead of the team... in a 'kill all' mission
- stalkers unwilling to participate in any tough fight unless their level 38 armour is running
- stalkers who always go for the boss and ignore enemies on the 'hate-list' (e.g. Malta sappers)
- stalkers who are not aware of their capabilities like the one who seriously tried to AS Valkyrie at level 46 while the larger part of the team took a short biobreak and who was surprised that she not only survived his attack but also seemed less than amused and proceeded to wipe the floor with the afk'ers
- stalkers who tell the corruptor that he should only be healing since they would do more damage anyway (HA! HA! Frickin' HA!) (although this is quite close to the previous point about being unaware of their own capabilities)
Each time I play my stalker I am almost ashamed about the mere possibility of being confused with someone like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
This reminded me of earlier today.
New pick up group, I was the stalker (Dark/SR).
First mob, BU+AS..Then I slaughtered three others in the mob(out of 8) and wounded two others(ah those cone attacks) while the team took out the rest (a team of 5).
Repeated for the next two mobs without incident, and we were going really quickly through the mission. Some of the people in the team were fairly new so I asked if maybe hey wanted me to ease up a little so they can get the hang of their powers.
Big mistake.
"You joking? You not even fighting properly, if you were using AS properly we would be going much faster..why arent you using hide more?"
And other comments...
The unimaginative way in which some people play stalkers is sad, though I dont think its that much worse than with other ATs. -
Some of my fav teaming in villains has been in mixed Dom/Stalker teams.
They work very well together if the players can work together
But I do tend to scrap a lot with my stalker in pve..
I had this very same conversation with a friend the other day,and in the end it came down to both of us agreeing that a lot of players are unable/unwilling to change their method of playing..And that other players tend to assume that anyone they recruit into a team is reading from the same script as them.
Communication is a must -

Oh yes, I'll get there eventually, and when I do finally get to that next stage the base will be so flush with energy and control I'll be able to add anything I want for the foreseeable future.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really...
Sure, power aplenty with with the main unit for the smallest base plot.
But it is the Control that'll be the main drain on your Prestige...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah the control gets eaten up really quickly, too quickly
All I want is a medbay, and two teleporters with beacons.
But then I'm still annoyed that you have to pay to place your own personal items...Why do I have to pay to stick a gun I stole off of a Rikti to my base wall? -
I have no trouble finding or making teams on deviant, and certainly dont see any less people than I do on onion.
Unless I am on at a silly time there seems to be a good 300 on /sea. -
**Reads the threads**
I like the work that has been done so far, I also understand that as a Wiki anyone can edit/add to what I in-put.
IW as thinking about possibly doing something similar for the Defiant server but to be honest there are not that many roleplayers around on defiant..Unless there are a lot more roleplay supergroups around than I thought, compared to Union where I can do a /SEA and every time find a person with the {{RP}} tag in their search bar. -

Thank you for the assistances Liz, I'm sure thats a little load off Z. Concerning attributes, I totally agree. Sadly, there are still a fair few people with Monstrous power being tabled as 10/10 (Omnipotent power). In these cases, I will actually start leaving Mod Notes at the top of the page. Don't get me wrong, its okay to have an omnipotent character (although I don't know of any), and I hope I'm not coming across all Police-like, but when the character isn't even as strong as the incarnates (Statesman and Recluse) it doesn't merit the Unearthly scale let alone Godly; the inaccuracy ultimately unbalances the community effort to identify OOCly, who's scaled where and how. Yes Tygerboy, Tyger I'm looking at you! (kiddingnow go edit!)
Oh and @Spurr, yes you'll need a totally new Box so if you think you're up to the job, copy some codes from here and fiddle around with it (just be careful not to break anything or better still, view the page while logged out) if not, tell me what you're trying to achieve and I'll help you design the custom Box mate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cool , shall poke aroundthanks mate.
**Gets out the larke stick of poking, and the hammer of fixing** -
Not sure what the coding is like ont he powerlevel chart...But would it be possible to give it a second coloured bar on each attribute so if you need it you can have (lets say) a blue bar representing your primary power level and a red shaded bar to represent the bossted/altered form/bots active power level.

Quick question:
When using the handy cheat tables, is there anyway of totaly removing **| parameter = value**, I tried deleting them but it just leaves them as confidential on the final product.
Or would I have to create a total new version from scratch?
