  1. It was in PvP (sirens call,I think it might have been a brute I was after...not sure they all look the same to me )

    At the time I had slotted tripple single origin accs and two damage single origins in the two powers I was trying to use.

    Ive repeated it in pve with mixed results (as you would expect,after all we cant hit all the time), but these days if I ever get red and cannot run away I just get in close and use bonesmasher on them (same in pvp too) as it does more damage than my tripple slotted damage sonics and hits more often

    I'm raising an elec/elec blaster at the moment, and he seems to be having better luck than my sonics..grrr
  2. What are the figures for the Acc buff?
    To be honest Ive never seen much diff with the acc when attacking under defiance.

    Ive tried the falling from great height tactic too.

    1:Spurr drops from great height, and unleashes sonic doom:
    +Spurr activates the sonics aim thingy.
    +spurr eats two yellows and two reds.
    SPLAT
    +miss
    +miss
    -VillainXhits Spurr for yyy damage
    -villainXhits SPurr for zzz damage
    -Spurr takes xx damage from a peace of rubbish
    --you cannot use that power when defeated.

    My defeat list shows nobody...And everyone has had Spurr
    Thoughts I have had on it.

    1: Perhaps it only counts for arena fights.
    2: maybe it only counts for that session in pvp,not all.
    3: maybe it doesnt work.
    4: maybe so many people have defeated me that it broke the program for everyone Bwahahahahahaha :P
  4. Why not something that increases your damage relative to the amount of aggro you are getting?
    Representing the desperation and extra effort of the blaster as he fights the endless hoards of evil.

    Other ideas might be to give the blasters higher damage in primary powers (my scrapper at lvl 10 could outdamage my lvl 10 blaster with a ranged power) and none of my blasters primary powers do as much damages as some of the energy melee secondary powerset, a strange distortion that tends to result in my blaster being a squishy and bad tank.

    Or another idea! (I have them sometimes), make defiance link in to your teams health..So when a team mate is getting maimed your defiance is increased as a result.

    Not as good in solo but it would reinforce the role of blasters in teams.
  5. I cant help but have an image of blasters self harming in their spare time for the "buzz"

    Or capturing low lvl villains to keep locked up in their basement for that "defiance kick".

    Just imagine if you could hurt your team mates.

  6. It does have its uses, when in a party of three blasters we were able to make good use of defiance,defeating three or so groups before having to rest.

    In PvP it can be a nasty sting to who ever is attacking you, but usualy three hits is death to me pvp so I dojnt get to use it.

    On the whole if an enemy is going to lower my health enough to activate defiance, then I am dead more so if the enemy has any help.
  7. Other than being a number to make players happy, does rep really matter?

    Killing targets in pvp can be a challange yes...but lets not forget that the bots manage it quite well too, perhaps they should get pvp ratings too

    "arbiter drone 2,pvp rating 251..."

    The stat does seem kinda dry:

    "I got a pvp rating of 9000!!!11!!"

    "yeah and? I slapped <insert name of an enemy here> and survived for over an hour before he/she hunted me own and shived me in a titanic battle on the rooftops."

    Depends really, I will help any person who shouts for help,regardless of the numbers.

    I will help a person if they are outnumbered...but not if the others are obviously not interfering either (like you often get in duels/power testng).

    I wont attack an AFK target or a target that looks like it may be lagged out/having computer issues..In those situations I will send a tell and then hang around till they recover and to warn off others.. (usualy I hang around and get killed but hey )

    The main polite thing I do...turn on enable villain chat.

  10. 1: Its a good thing, I hate idiots who attack me in the hos/base.

    2: It sucks, I like it when people I know attack me in the base area..makes it interesting.

    As you can see I am of split opinions.

    Stalk- I thought you did it because you are too lazy to walk back to the villains base
  11. I think I would be slightly offended if no stalkers atacked me at all in pvp, at least when they are attacking me I know where they are

    Besides now Ive gone upa few lvls I like them to get close so I can smash them with melee powers (which are better than my sonics..stupid powersets..me a blaster and the most damage I do is with a punch..) , I might still be pvp fodder for the higher lvl chars (but happy fodder) but I can still maim the careless,stupid and weak

    Thats partialy why I did so well in the recent sirens callinvasion thing...over confidant villains would immob me,get in close..and then get hurt

    Its a game, have fun,be nice..and turn off your defences so I can get some pvp rep points
  12. Lag was bad, but had some fun.
    Started off near the vs base trying to entice some out, eventualy one popped out and nailed me.
    After that I dared to do hotspots and combat the evil Lag beast.. defeated 6 Vs defeated twice more by them so not bad for me

    The annoying lvl of broadcast froth was aggravating..and sometimes I just wish we could target other heroes, some of them needed a good blasting....try to tell me what to do bah!!

    In the end the lag was just to bad, no point fighting if you never see what kills you or when your attacks happen
  13. Spurr, lurking above the battles waiting for targets of oppurtunity...or stuck on a roof in a strange stationary running posture,like a bad mime.
  14. I love the defender sonics set..And wish my sonic blaster could access it

    Its nice having some one else in the party who get shouted at for making to much noise with their powers

  16. Ah so now using heal aura is considered bad?

    I dont care what anyone else thinks but I will activate any power I think is needed,when ever I think.

    Situations where I "spam" Healing aura:
    1: when my computer freezes or the server lags (just in case).

    2: All the bloody time in a battle, it might be cack at healing but those extra few hit points might help keep someone alive till I can hit them with heal other.

    3:After a battle to make sure everyone is 100% healthy,and to heal any lingering DOT effects that might have been inflicted.

    4: when I am injured. (I got accused of spamm healing as I kept using HA to keep me alive,everyone else was fine but things were hitting me.).

    spam healing..yeah its as annoying as tankers going around with their armour up all the time

    Since ED the main diffs I have noticed are:

    On missions I prefer to have another defender with healing capabilities, so we can cover the battle line effectivly. I like to sit behind the front line heroes where my HA can be used..And where I can be sure I will allways have Line of sight to my patients.

    my damage powers do suck now,but they can help draw the enemy away from the blasters/support heroes long enough for them to frag the enemy/move into a better attack pos.

    I cant comment on any of the buff powers as I have not taken them ( I respeced out clear mind for proton volly).
  17. Hmm I have not played COV yet, as I awaiting a new computer first so I cannot really comment on if stalkers are overpowered (I dont think they are from my experiences in pvp) , but if they are anything like scrappers then they are damned scary...

    I started a scrapper char and had the horror of realising that this "closecombat char" with an un-enhanced power could do more damage at range than my sonic blaster or my energy blaster could at the same lvl. ( 25-50 pts of damage with possible immob and venom...at range...with a good recycle rate and low use of end...nasty ).

    But these things add character and make life interesting

  18. Hmm my targeting priorities..

    1: Gangers and other pve bots. (i'm nice like that).
    2: Any group where 2 villains or more are attacking a solo heroe.
    3: Any villain that is attacking some one who asks for help.
    4: Stalkers and masterminds.
    5: Brutes (like I can ever damage them..at most I can evily slow their computer down by over use of my sonics..or perhaps make them blind by throwing myself infront of their char).


    My run away list.

    1: brutes. (I cannot hurt them but they can kill me).
    2ve bots.
    3: any villain who tps me into bots/drones.
    4: Masterminds and stalkers or any hold based char...Why run when I cannot get away?

    You hear AS then it hits possibly before or after impale/lunge/kick of death.

    In a team up I will try to either act as bait (all sonics are good for), or defend the team vital chars (defenders/controllers).
  19. ( I confess that after the first 5 pages I just flicked to the end of the thread..bad me I know but I cannot be arsed reading posts placed by intolerant fools..).

    PvP balance:
    I do not think that it should be balanced.
    Computer games,rp games lrp games all are infested with the strange notion that things must be balanced.

    Why?

    If people wanted balance then get rid of all but 1 AT, and make sure that the AT had only 2 powers (1 primary and 1 secondary).

    Getting 1 shotted is not fun (though I enjoy the desperate typing to get in something funny and witty before I hit the floor..has not happened for a while though,I just die to quick ) ,and there is little you can do to avoid rapid death without creating a totaly PvP based character..And even then it will still happen.

    1: Balance sucks, you cannot have a diverse and exciting setting if everything is balanced.

    2: with a setting that has evil assasins.expect to encounter evil assasins..and thus be assasinated.

    3: 1 shots suck... But if a char has spent the time specilising to that lvl then there is nothing wrong with it, after all its their char.

    4: PvP I think should not be open to characters below the exemp/sk lvl. you can get into sirens at 20..which is death for most ATs , I allmost got angry after I realised that I could hardly bruise any villains..But then I noticed that I was 10 lvls lower than most of them, this can put new players off,really quickly.

    Sure I might have been skd to 30, but those few lvls make a huge difference when it comes to powers and slots, when it comes down to it the villains I was leaping at would all have been purple and beyond to me in pve...


    Bah post has degenerated into mad mutterings...sigh..

  20. my problem with it..try getting on a team.
    People will allways want to take any other defender over a trick arrow.

  22. Spurr my sonic blaster just hit sec lvl 24, and I noticed a big difference in his performance in sirens call.
    Ignoring the bad start to the night (tp and hold death galore), I went solo and defeated someone, and when in the hero team of death I managed to considerably maim a few others

    I was actualy hitting villains which made a big improvment over lvls 20-23.

  24. Another sonic!!!

    Spurr is now lvl 23 (sonic/energy).

    Yeah Ive noticed the amasing ability of the sonic set to miss,its even more obvious in pvp...

    In Pve he works well,though soloing can be bloody

    My main advice... Love shockwave and sirens call they are the sonic life saver especily when solo or when friends are in trouble.

    Up to lvl 20 I had mainly damage,endurance reductions and attack rate reductions in my sonics.. So I could keep an allmost constant barrage of sonic pain up and running,using rate of fire to negate the attrocious amount of misses sonics seem to have.

    since then Ive added a few mor accs, but even with 3slots of Single origin accs I'm still lucky if I Can hit in pvp.

    There are other sonics around,and they must be better than me as I have ignroed most of the advice on the forums so I could enjoy the learning experience myself..and stick with enhancment sets that match my style of play for the char...

    Ooh dont bother with the knockback for shockwave 'till later, stick and end reduction or attact rate reduction/damage in there instead.


  25. I have no problem using most of the above as IC, as they made a good try at giving them nice IC justifications when they made this game.

    XP I ignore its purely a games mechanism.
    Prestige and influence represent what they say as heroes we are ever in the public eye..for good or bad.

    I love the hero licence,reminds me of an episode of "The Tick" live action series..hehehehe.

    Enchancments in the most cases are items or just skill development..
    One thing Id love to see in the comics is warwitch with all her enhancments on, as a magicer she has to wear ear rings,bracelts,bands,candles,rings.... No stealthy for her methinks.

    exemping and sking just represent in once case "the passing on of knowledge and tactics to a young apprentice,thus improving their skill" and in the other case...hmmm I'll get back with that one...

    Respecs... they dont work that will IC, some ATS anc character concepts can justify them well (swapping equipment,learning new spells,mutating further and losing an old ability to gain a new) but others cannot at all.
    So I tend to ignore them.
