  5. I've been an almost-only Union player for 18 months now, and just started to play some of my alts on Defiant a bit more. While I believe that people are equally friendly on both servers, it's true that Union is more chatty, and on Union is a lot easier to find a team... You will get a lot of invites, while on Defiant I always have to ask to join (rather than being asked), and many times I get no asnwer.
    Looks like people on Def are more inclined to team with friends or players they already know, while on Union team is more casual-going.

    Kin is a bit.. 'meh' solo to be honest. Even at higher level it's just a bit.. I don't know.. dull. The buffs are really short and it's a pita to spam siphon speed, siphon power, transfusion (the heal in particular, as fast as you can fire it off, because you're taking massive damage from most of the mobs, compared to other debuff sets) and then transference because those buffs and heals just cost you most of your endurance bar.... and then it's time to do them again and you're wondering when you actually get a chance to blast things and make use of those buffs. Kin is nice on paper solo but not in practice. It's great in groups but equally busy and can get repetitive fast. You don't get to use fulcrum to its full extent solo because it needs loads of mobs to be really nice and with no ther debuffs, you faceplant against decent sized gangs. Maybe if you paired it with sonic for siren's song, or got mass hypnosis in the 40s. I still think it's a horrible solo set though.... and in teams people screaming for speed boost will drive you nuts long before you get to be excited about fulcrum shift.

    Anyway... after that rant! Storm, Dark or Rad are all great solo and in teams. Personally I would recommend Storm primary and Dark secondary. You get so many tricks for different situations. Dark is definately the best synergy with Storm, which is definately the most fun power set in the game. And it's all about fun at the end of the day.

    honestly, I LOVE the fact that kin is so busy, you always have to be clicking something , and I love a bit of soloing with my kin/sonic (albeit I admit it is a late bloomer as far as soloing goes). I guess it depends on play style more than anything
  7. Kinetic would be a good choice for a primary that functions great both in team and solo (though it's so wonderful in teams that you will always be looking for one!). As for the secondary, Sonic is good for the -dam of its attacks, a nice single-target disorient and AoE Sleep that can help you put foes into position for Fulcrum Shift and subsequently pwn them.

    I think electric might be good too thanks to the end drain, but I never played the set so it's difficult to say. Rad Blast would be another great choice though.

  10. Thanks Shannon - I might take aid self, but what do you suggest I take out? I need to find two spaces to fit in that and Aid Other or Stimulant. Do you see any non-useful powers in my build?

    Are you thinking of the Res/Def unique IO from that set?
    That gives a bonus defense to all and you don't actually need any of the others to get it.
    The only extra bonus having all three is an extra 1.5% life.

    Oh, thanks! I didn't notice that the +3% PSI bonus came all from a single enhancement, and not from the combination of all 3. Then I can take that KBP out!

    I will follow your suggestions (I'll only wait to swap the end reds in the toggles after I get stamina!).

    The KB protection IO is really there only to complete the set and get the additional defense against PSI.

    As for build-up, is more than anything a filler. I know Ice isn't very damaging (it has good damage mitigation thanks to the -recharge effects and ice patch, so it's more for the added defense than for dealing damage), still I thought it might be useful to take it a bit higher. If you have any suggestion to swap this power with another, I'll gladly take it

    well you know blue rush, so you've seen a kin/sonic in action

    as far as teaming go, it's a great combo. there might be better ones for soloing, though the -dam res of the sonic attacks and the AoE sleep make it a good solo combination, too, after you pass the initial levels.

    Yes, I think it is somehow connected to defenders being a team AT and one that can usually handle higher opponents on top of that. A tanker usually feels the pain when mobs are a little bit too high, a controller will find his control reduced in effectiveness, scrappers and blasters will lack damage and take too much damage. But defenders? Most heals and buffs work just fine, debuffs will still be good enough and their damage... Well, most teams don't hire defenders for their blasts. So, I guess it's only natural that the AT with the biggest chance of getting a team of higher level than himself is a defender, and of course in that case your missions are not that attractive to other team members, so they won't get done.
    But still, I can't see it as defenders getting a raw deal since it is basically your own choice if you accept team invites from people several levels higher than you or if you'd rather have your own missions done in an even-level team.

  21. To share my view, I've done just a few of my missions on the way to 50 with my kin/son def. And the ones I did, I either did solo, in duo with a SK'd friend or just because I put the team together...
