i thought claw's spin with double stacked follow-up gave the best aoe against non-resisting targets?

pve is hard when your name is soul touch and you can't use contractions.
-
because jojo knows about the economics of everquest studies.
basic rule: unless heavy taxation is imposed or drop rates are increased exponentially, influence builds in the coh world faster than drops; hence almost everything is a sure-fire investment.
[i said this while half of arena chat screamed at me for wasting my money on 30 mill inf glad's javelin procs pre-pvp drops nerf... git wrek world] -

Quote:i may be one of the richest players in the game, with about 15 or so purpled out characters, and various characters full of pvp ios. i inherited about 2 purple'd our toons worth of io's and infamy from the UJL mass exodus after the pvp changes, but everything else is self-generated.However, I, and most of the players I personally know, aren't happy with these farmers taking away the end-game from everybody else. As I see it, that's what the influence farmers are doing. They are taking the end-game away from other players and keeping it in a small clique... and I'm all for shattering clique's like that. I'm all for breaking up the players trading billions back and forth, who have reached that separated level of too much influence to count.
your hate is completely misdirected. if you play smart, becoming rich is stupid easy. my "clique" from i9 to i12 consisted of whoever had a 46 and was willing to bridge. while most people were content with being idiots and farming in maps with full teams inside the mission, i refused to do this from day one. i only farmed for my vg when we needed specific toons for specific lineups on test; nevertheless, i did it sparingly. finding me farming is super rare. i do it once a month when wanting a new 50 overcomes my hatred of mind-numbing pve.
but one thing you'll never ever ever find me doing is PVE-ing tardo pug style. if i'm gonna PVE, it's gonna be a SF/TF or a Patron arc; otherwise, the rewards aren't worth it. this isn't hard to do in freedom. there's always an itf forming; RSFs and STFs are a bit rare-er but they do happen.
i16 has made this style of play even easier than before (my ill/emp hit 50 doing a manticore, try that pre-i16).
anyways, if nothing's happening, i'm pvping. oh and don't try the "no life" argument. i amassed over half of those purpled 50's while completing a thesis for a master's program in architecture.
seriously, play smart and you'll get your stuff. complaining about other people having more money than you in this game makes you look lazy or stupid. -
Quote:dear forst eld h, i dont know if you've yet to realize this, but overall inflation results in higher sell prices for drops / trades, hence apparently high prices shouldn't really be a concern unless you aren't selling your drops or killing npcs for infamy with a full recipe/salvage tray.Wow i can't find suggestion forum anymore...cough
But anyways, it is probably not a secret for anyone (but devs apparently) what is going on on Market.
Prices are just beyond anything tolerable.
tltr version scroll down:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Just example (state of 11.12.2009):
Full set of Apoc set (recipes, vill side): 2 bill 635 mil
Chance for Neg Dmg: 400 mil
Dam: 250 mil
Dam/End: 380 mil
Dam/Rech: 700 mil
Dam/rech/Acc: 555 mil
Rech/acc: 350 mil
Full set of Panacea (recipes, vill side):2 bill 880 mil
Proc: 1 bill 600 mill
End/heal: 80 mil
End/Heal/Rech: 400 mill
End/rech: 100 mill
Heal: 600 mil
Heal/Rech: 100mil
etc.
Now let's say Player A is playing by game rules, does pve and some pvp content, doesn't abuse exploits, farms 24/7 or buyes inf from koreans. He runs 1-2 TFs every day (each gives him about 2-3 mil a run) and pvp's fairly often (let's say 2-3 hours a day; he is also very skilled so he can kill Player B every 5 min and have chance to get pvp IO 1/120ish (from my own and other players experience)). Now one day Player A decides he want to slot Glad Jav set in his Fire Blast. He decides he spends max time in game: 2 TFs a day (1 hour each) or he pvp's 5 hours a day ( 3 hours +2 hours he would spend for TFs) and would get only the javelins he needs dropped. Now lets make a math how long it would take for Player A:
1. just buy whole set by running TFs(with condition he never gets anything good from TFs like in my case lol):
set price: 2 635 mil
Inf earned per TF: 3 mil
Time for 1 TF: 1 hour
2 Tfs every day => 6 mill a day
2 635/6 = rnd(439 days) = 1,2 year for 1 set
Imagine Player A wants to slot his other powers... you know, he might have life too :/
2. He pvps and gets the IOs he needs dropped:
Hours a day: 5= 300 min
Chance: 1/120 every 5 min
Time needed to get 1 drop = 600 min = 2 days
So for whole set 12 days. Doesn't look as bad but if you add the fact that Player A mostlikely never gets drop he needs time needed for whole set can go in year.
Why did i type it all? Just hopefully to make for devs clear that there is no normal way to slot a character with pvp Ios and purples (by such high prices). Either Player A would have to farm TFs, missions, MA, pvp IOs (yes you can do it too), marketing or just the most trivial - buy money from koreans. I am pretty sure game wasn't designed for this and some of the ways are against EULA.
-----------------------------------------------------------
tltr:
I understand that it is mostly players fault that the prices are ridicilous on Market, but sometimes you can't just hope for self regulation in game (we saw what happend to MA). So now to siggestion part:
1. Increase drop rate for PvP IOs.
*Surey they are rare drop, from what i heard they also have same drop rate as purples but let's be honest there is no way you can kill as many players in same time as NPCs. Increasing drop rate won't totally save the market but would at least bring supply closer to demand in this game.
2. Since we have marketing going on just increasin drop rate alone won't do anything. It is just wild idea and rumors i heard from one person but maybe limitation of how high you can put item on market would help some (example: you cant't put mid rare reciper higher than 50 mil).
*Surely some players will lose a lot of money since they payed market fees but then again we have items on market going for 2 bill a piece and there is NONE for sale.
3. Let players roll purples with merits and roll pvp IOs with reputation.
*Last time i pm'ed Synapse, he said that putting purple rolls for merits isn't possible because it would be too high. Well, excuse me, purples go for 500+ mil, how many normal paper missions does one have to run to buy one? Besides reputation was always quite useless, and it is not as easy to farm as normal inf, so rolling (not even buying) pvp IOs with rep would be awesome especially for people who for some reason never ever get anything (i got 2 toons to 400 rep and not a single drop :/ ).
It is just suggestions and maybe not even so great ideas, but anyone with some common sense would see the problem we have with BM/WW atm. It would be really nice if devs could do anything about it.
Thanks for reading, i know post is huge, sry. -
the fact that whenever this person shows up in RV i end up essentially farming him right outside of the hero base while he complains saying that i'm "perma-targeting" him runs counter to your first statement.
-
way to make up the %s on the percentage of pvpers.
i believe it was ex who surprised everyone by stating that around 30% (I THINK, NOT SURE) of players regularly pvp'd.
now take that. my word vs. yours. -
Quote:the whole concept of lolhonor is laughable in zone pvp and it just constitutes really bad RP.There's also the slim possibility of the heroes doing the honourable thing when faced with an opponent they could wipe the floor with, they leave them to the lower level heroes to tackle, a fair fight. It's unlikely, but might account for some players behaviour of this nature.

cause that's the only way you could feel superior to him, being a 39 year old living in your mom's basement having once gotten a ****** to squeeze your butt.

This is what I use. A super cheap s/l capped build.
while some people here my be apalled by the end cost of running all the toggles required to play softcapped, I pretty much consider that a null worry. Yeah, I have to hit transference once per mob or two; but if you don't have downs syndrome you're gonna be popping insps like a mad man as you go, hence yeah... not an issue.
Click this DataLink to open the build! -
if you take out the lotg from my build, it was less than 250 mill.
i run a softcapped s/l fire/kin/stone with relatively low +rcgh.
basically a specialist farmer for BM clones in the AE. -
GR + DXP the same weekend would be a pretty good marketing ploy.
better than the free reactivation + dxp thing which was widely interpreted as desperate move (with good reason, i actually said screw it to the last dxp weekend after the AE nerfs and played like a total of 2 hours). -

your question was deemed irrelevant cause it's better to spend 30 hours pling a new toon that isn't a defender.

Quote:+hp and a minimum of 36 kb before acro.Any idea how to do that?
I've checked every thread about elec/therms in the PVP & Corruptor forum and most of the decent information seems to have been purged. I found one build on a private SG forum but it was full of purples.
What's the best thing to aim for? +HP & +Dam? -
Quote:45% is too low.Or you could run with DR on and everything else off. That way you don't have to worry about popping a zillion reds and three-shotting things, squishies still have the resistance cap of around 45%, but you'd get mileage out of Sonic and Therm shields.
far too low. it's the reason why well-built blasters destroy squishies under the current system (-end doesn't count, so lets ignore that). you can no longer counter them by capping your resists and letting your debuffs do the heavy work as in i12.
back then, my ice/psi would beat fire/ems by hitting 3 oranges, and laying out all the slows and drain psyche on them. that is impossible now.
the dr curve on resists needs to be loosened. simply doing that, and then removing the base resists will result in better team matches. this should also work nicely in 1v1s too. -
-
Quote:as a sole move, giving us no base resistances creates a lot of issues.Give us a "no base resistances" option and make the cage last longer than 4 seconds and there's another problem solved.
first, yeah the damage stuff goes nuts. i can three shot fire scrappers if they have no base resists on no dr matches with my fire/elec if my procs go off (basically warned the person, yet he insisted).
so yeah. how do we fix that?
dr on damage needs to remain an option. i cannot three shot a scrapper with shields off if i pop reds under freedom's standard rules since DR curves down damage to the point where anything past a 2 reds and BU is wasted outside of a team situation.
if we get a no dr resists option, it needs to be separate from the standard settings and the dr curve on resists needs to be increased. in other words, we do not need base resists nor dr caps on resists. we do need DR caps on damage in order to account for the damage changes from i13.
the other options would be for the devs to look at outliers such as shout, thunderstrike, tf and every other 2.5s+ animation which creates crazy burst potential, but i cannot back this. this is the easy way out.
so the real questions are:
how do we prevent scrappers and people without base resists from getting two shot in no-dr matches outside of team situations by blasters and doms with huge damage bonuses?
how do we make sonics and other resistance buffing toons viable without breaking 1v1 situations (which the devs are obviously focused on)?
can we get a "duel setting" in which DR on damage is maintained, and other dr caps and base resists are removed?
can we get a "team vs. team" setting where DR on damage is not present, nor are there any bases resists or any of the DR caps?
needless to say, these settings would also be TS off and Heal Suppression Off. I dared the devs to datamine how many matches are run this way vs. with standard settings and tell me that it's not a significant portion of matches (especially when looking at team vs. team matches). -

Quote:well, i don't think that's a pvp issue. That is cool. Wonder if that means other disparities are being dealt with at the same time like the lack of physical perfection/conserve power for brutes.
if anything, the lack of fossilize (as part of the tank-blaster attack chain) in brutes is a bigger issue. still, this is countered by the fact that brutes have access to web envelope which in turn makes them more viable than tanks in arena matches. -
i suggest you play in freedom during prime-time.
ask in arena chat for a duel around 9pm EST and the chances of winning on a sonic/rad are nearly 0. -
