  1. Very pleased with this pack. Ten new auras -- that's a lotta aura!

    Thanks.

One cape and two auras per origin:
    • Nature: autumnal cape/leaves aura/thunderhead aura
    • Science: unified field facade cape/atomic aura/cryogenic aura
    • Tech: impervium mantle cape/steamjets aura/sparks aura
    • Magic: cloak of the 8th circle cape/runes aura/tarot card aura
    • Mutant: spliced cape/bio plasma aura/toxic vapors aura
edited to add: this pack is already much more interesting to me than the emotes booster. I can't get enough auras, and am loving the leaves, atomic, and runes auras. The capes (particularly the impervium and leaf capes) aren't bad either.

Personally, I think it boils down to a difference in our approach. For me, I didn't come here to play their game. I came here to play my characters. If there's something that prevents my character from clicking aesthetically, why would I continue playing him/her? What's to keep me interested once he/she stops being the character I envisioned and becomes the character I'm forced to live with?

There are plenty of great games out there one could play because of the gameplay itself. But one of the most unique things about this game is the level of customization it offers you to become your own character -- even down to creating your own story/missions if you want. So it's a bit cray-cray that customzation still doesn't include the most ubiquitous powers (the pools) or the highest level powers (the epics/patrons).

What good is it if I can turn my red primary powers green and my blue secondary powers green but can't turn my overwhelming Speed Pool powers from that hideous yellow to my thematic green?

More people take the Power Pools than any Primary or Secondary and thus, in a way, they become even more Primary. Or they should be prioritized as such.

Until Pool Powers are customizable, what has been done is a unfinished job. And if there was a definite timetable, I could be patient. But because it's unfinished with no definite plan to be finished... sorry to say it... it's just unprofessional.
This is pretty much my take as well.

  6. Any of the NPC back items.

I know the tech is a problem with this one, but honestly, I can't see anything costume-related that's more important or more needed. Given that back items have been at the top of the wish list for 6+ years, they should be made priority #1.

Jungle/Forest. A large one with actual trees, not the kind of weird maze you get in Perez but trees big enough that each one is modeled individually.

Frozen wilderness. Snow and ice, maybe some snow-covered trees, maybe some mountains.

Mars. An alien landscape with weird alien artifacts left behind. It could be used to represent all kinds of other worlds, especially if the sky could be set to different colors.

Orbit. Earth far below, moon high above, fly granted to everyone in the zone. You enter and exit through a space station airlock. The space station is often under attack. There are various satelites and chunks of rock and other space stations scattered about the zone, with different enemies inhabiting them.
This. And I'd add an Atlantis zone to the list (even if the zone has to be domed for tech reasons).

The most disappointing thing about Going Rogue for me was that the new zones gave us nothing different. Sure, Praetoria is a prettier city than the old cities we have, but it's still just a city, and I don't think we really needed even more city zones. I want to fight in jungles, or deserts, or the arctic, or space, or Atlantis, or anywhere other than more city zones.

If you're looking for the best way to serve the game as a whole and new players in particular, I think you should reconsider a costume creator menu reorganization/submenu upgrade. Neither new nor old players are being served by menu lists that are far too long (i.e. chest details, face detail 1). The CC is the first thing new players see. It should be organized and easily navigated, and currently it's not, at least not everywhere.

I don't think it needs a complete overhaul, but honestly, where it needs work, it needs it badly.

I want to retain the look of perfect body-tight spandex, even if it has to resemble bodypaint to achieve it. Better resolution, yes. Pattern to texture, NOOO!
I'm completely for more "plus" treatments on these sets, as they would be great additions some of us have been requesting for some time. But do leave the originals, please.

  15. Power Pools
    • Travel -- use hover animation & flight emotes for flight, puff-of-smoke or arm-tech summoning for TP, less glowie/color customize for SS, landing crater for SJ
    • Leadership -- no ideas really, but something less military
    • Medicine -- use empathy or pain dom animations, something less techie
    • Fighting -- martial arts style options
    Empathy/Pain Dom
    • As much as I complain about wanting non-techie versions of the power pools, I'd be selfish to not mention techie versions of these
    Blasts (& more)
    • Staffs, wands, rifles & rayguns -- various weapons to fire each blast through a staff, wand, or gun; other non-blasts could do the same, when appropriate (i.e. confuse/stun/hold raygun, or weather summoning staffs)
    • Dual Pistols -- I love the set, personally, but I could like something more "cowboy" as well
    • Fire blast -- the snipe power in this set bugs the heck out of me. I hate it. Hate.
    Masterminds
    • In-game critters -- if not complete customization, how about allowing relevant sets from in-game critters (i.e. -Arachnos robots, Warrior thugs, CoT demons, Tsoo ninjas, etc)
    Traps/Devices
    • more magical versions (i.e. mystic circles for targeted AoEs)
    edited to add:

    Beast Run
    • How could I have forgotten -- beast run needs to exist somewhere in this game, either as a customization of some travel, or else as its own "ninja run" type power

I wouldn't say I'm sad, so much as intrigued. It doesn't feel like magic was deleted so much as it's just missing. There are story possibilites in that. Like I said, I've not done a huge number of the new arcs, so more could be explained than I know already.

Can't direct you to the pics of the Alpha or Omega auras, but I can tell you this: ALL the auras already in game will now also have a "combat aura" option. That's pretty awesome, actually.

For those of us girls who don't want to look like streetwalkers, the magic booster is kind of..lacking I suppose, and not everyone is into super high tech/robotic characters.
Oh, I agree completely. But on the other hand...

Once I got over the shock of nothing magic-related (and only 2 female/1 male hairstyles!?!?!?), I started looking at parts individually. Key costume pieces here and there blend quite nicely with more natural or magic looks. Police pants, Resistance boots, the sport set somewhat. The new hairstyles are beautiful, and the whole Omega set from the complete edition/pack looks promising. I've even found the sport and overguard shoulders work better than I initially thought, at least for the Medieval armor-type looks I was working on at the time.

There are pieces there that can definitely be used by non-techie folks, they're just not whole sets. But if you can look through the forest and see the trees (to mangle a metaphor), you can find more usable than might initially be apparent.

The dearth of new hairstyles still bugs me, though.

My toons are all sooooooooooooo magic-based that Praetoria feels weird to me. Magic doesn't seem to really be a part of this universe, from what I can tell (admittedly, I didn't do all the arcs, saving some to do next week on live), and that absence appears to be deliberate. Do any Praetorian foes drop magic enhancements?

Hopefully future updates (the incarnates update, perhaps) will explain what's up with Magic in Praetoria, and at that time I HOPE we'll get new magic parts to use. But if the next costumes we get are even yet still more highly-detailed metallic armor set, I think I'll scream... well, all I'll probably do is ragepost again, but you get the idea.

  19. If I were looking to update the costume creator, I'd:
    • Organize current information into more sub-menus. (Chest Details, I'm looking at you specifically.)
    • Open up more pre-existing content, both things that we already have access to but which are locked into certain slots (i.e. Bolero's fur shoulders), as well as things currently only available to NPCs (i.e. sashes & butt capes).
    • Open up more back options, even if they aren't attached to a traditional node, but instead wherever the current backpacks/wings attach. I did expect some movement toward this to be included with GR, but that appears to have been silly wishful thinking at this late date. It's kind of tragic that after 6 years and with a second new game/expansion is on the way, we've still not heard if we'll ever have this option.
    • Revisit the philosophy of "lockable costume parts." Since unlockable parts don't show up in the costume creator until you earn/craft them, it looks to new players that our game doesn't have some real super hero basics -- no capes, no wings, no trench coats. I'd unlock those three at least, for everyone at character creation. If the Dev position on unlockables doesn't change, then we need some explanation in the Costume Creator itself that certain costume basics must be bought or earned at a later date.
    • Expand the choices of colors available for both skin and costume parts.
Note, I'm not opposed to a full-out re-building of old costume pieces. It's just that I think there is a whole lot of room for improvement in the costume creator without ever creating one new part. And from his various posts, I do think that Noble Savage understands that, so hopefully one day we'll see some progress on this front.

I'm one of the folks that honestly does enjoy playing solo and playing on a less populated server. And in that one paragraph, you basically called me a liar, that you couldn't believe anyone could enjoy empty servers, and you dismissed us all as apologists. And THEN you condescendingly state that despite us all being apologist liars, you're still awesome enough to not hold it against us.

I don't think I posted a reply in this thread or sent neg rep (but I could be wrong, as that paragraph rankled me a bit). But honestly, you came off as a troll who thought himself quite witty for making a thinly-veiled attack on his fellow players, not as someone interested in actual dialogue.

    Does that answer your question?

I agree. There have been plenty of times when I could have used a bit more prestige for a building project I was working on. I've thought about converting inf for it, but the exchange rate is so poor (something like 1,000,000 inf for only 2000 prestige) that you're right -- it's not economically worth it -- at least it doesn't feel like it is, and that's what matters.

If they truly want it to function as an inf sink, they'll have to make it a more attractive proposition; so long as we feel like we're getting a raw deal on the exchange, it won't be used very often.

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew as soon as you quoted it that I'd likely misused "chained." That's more when one mission leads directly into the next, right?

Since you seem quite knowledgable about this, do you have any insight on why the cape mission change (from "not required" to "required") was made?

    ...

There is no actual connection between the two.
But they are connected, in that you must complete a cape mission to get an aura mission; you said so yourself. And I'd have sworn it didn't use to be this way. I seem to remember at one point having her offer one of my capeless, auraless level 30 toon a choice of either a cape or aura mission, both offered at the same time.

Are you saying it's always been "must get cape before she'll talk auras," in which case I'm just badly misremembering? Or did they become sequenced/chained/whatever when the new cape mission went live? I'm not trying to argue, just trying to figure out why I seem to remember her giving me a choice at one point, but no longer.
