  1. That's great news because this has really curbed my CoH playing. It's nice to see my starting this thread lead to a fix!

    WN
  2. Due to being arc slot locked for over a year I only have one arc that is eligible this year (which I was only able to make after deleting an arc with 158 plays!). It is:

    A Very Special Episode #457506

It would fit into the Heroic arc, Best groups (The Injustice Legion) and maybe the Comedy. I would not call it a flat out comedy, but it has some hunor aspects to it.

  4. Has anyone gotten anywhere with support on this issue? They keep acting like this is an issue with my system when it's clearly bigger than that. Getting very frustrating.

    WN
  5. I have no add-on programs running with CoH. The idea it might be the bat aura is worth looking into because I think it started the first time I logged on and was standing next to someone with it. Also, it often starts when I enter a new zone. Certainly possible that there is a person with the aura there.

I ran through PI taking screenshots as I ran....lots of misses, but I finally caught it mid-flash.

I don't see how my prefered playstyle is any different than someone who RP's, or collects badges, or what not. I don't exploit anything beyond leveraging my strengths vrs the mobs weaknesses. That is not hacking the game any more than following a vidiotmap to get all the badges in a zone yet I am treated as a pariah by a signifigant part of the playerbase. **** that.
So, because one person who is a story arc writer said they have one starred farms that lack story, it's OK to ruin the ratings of all authors of story arcs because "You are all the same "type" and deserve it"? To top it off. I personally could care less about farms, I just think story arcs and farms should be separated with a tab/tag.

Oh course, there are plenty ways to cap tickets and these sorts of many months after the fact nerfs that often end up hurting story arcs, are just a waste of time since anyone wanting to farm MA can do it anyways. I'm not a farm lover or hater, I just would like the devs to say one way or the other what exactly is acceptable and stick with it. If farms are fine by them, then just offer separate farm/story tabs. Problem solved, stop the nerfs and let everyone be happy. If there is some limit they want to impose on farming, then state that and stick to it. These changes that are supposed to curb MA farming, don't and never will. All they will do is bring forth the next batch of whatever gets exp/tickets the fastest style farms arcs and take resources away from improving MA for everyone.

I have a GeoForce GTS 450 using the latest Nividia drivers, so this is not just an issue with one graphics card. Repair seems to fix it for a while, but it always comes back and gets progressively worse.

I've kinda sat out of this discussion because I honestly feel that the devs have made no effort to really make clear what their short or long term intentions are concerning MA or if they even have any and until that happens it's all just us speculating on what they feel MA should or should not be. That said, for reasons I still don't know, I personally received 6 one star ratings to all 8 of my arcs in one 24 hour period when these discussions on farming broke out about six weeks ago. That's 48 one stars. Several of my arcs had not even been played in many months having already been sitting at four stars for a long time. In the same 24 hour period many other authors also received several one star ratings to each of their arcs (FredrikSvanberg, PW, Gypsy Rose and a couple others). This was not a "myth" and it was not "players genuinely disliking our arcs", it was clearly an attempt to harass story arc authors. I'm not saying my work is all "solid gold", but I feel it's clear that the ratings given to myself and other authors, at least that time, were nothing more than griefing.

  11. It was fine for almost a day until I got invited to a team in PI that had 3 MMs, 1 had bubbles. When I arrived the flashing started again and would not go away even after I left the team, loaded into other zones/missions. I wish there would be some word that they are looking in to this, because the game quickly becomes unplayable when this happens.

    WN
  12. I ran repair and it's still there. Very distracting and just go the standard "it's you not us" response from support.

    WN
  13. It started again. Drivers were updated yesterday and that seemed to fix it, but it's back.GeoForce GTS 450

Thanks, that did the trick. I got this graphics card about 6 weeks ago so I was sure it had the most up to date driver, but apparently they released a new one shortly after I got the new card.

  16. CoH has been running fine until the patch today. Now, as my character runs the screen will flashes either white or black depending on how bright the area is where I'm running. No changes to my PC and it worked perfectly this morning before the patch. Asking in global it appears some others are experiencing it too. Anyone know a work around for this issues?

    WN
  17. Added Bubba's and PW's info in to the list. If you'd like this list to stick around (kinda the point of it!) Please request it gets a sticky from the forum mods.

  19. I had the same thing happen to the custom group in :A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!" right after it was featured in PC Gamer magazine. If you check the thread for the arc you can find out when that was since I don't recall off the top of my head. I had to re-add the recolors of standard characters from the group and redo their bios. I keep a word document for my arcs as I work on them and thankfully I was able to pull the bios from there. Another thing that happened at that time was that the boss set to not auto-spawn unset. The way these were discovered was a few low rates with comments about the boss appearing in each group in the last mission and the custom group (ironically the thing most praised in the article) only having a few members in it.

Edit - I Checked and I did not mention it in the thread, though I'm sure it's out there somewhere. If I had to guess it was about two months ago.

Edit - Found it! From 7/17/11 "Last night I found out via feedback that one of the very things "A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!" is praised for in the article, it's custom group, was stealth broken due to some recent patch. A team playing it complained that all the minors were scrappers and that the big end boss was repeated all over the place,

Checking the arc, the big boss had lost is "Don't Auto Spawn" tag and two of the three minions from the custom group were missing. It was the two that were normal baddies recolored with new bios. I readded them and set boss back to not autospawn. In adding them back, I found that "Snake Eyes" was not allowed, so I made them "Snake-Eyes". Gotta love loosing ratings due to stealth breaks. Very very frustrating."

  20. It hasn't gotten a play in a dog's age (except for those 6 1 star griefs recently) so what the heck...I submit:

  21. This thread has been created as a consolidated list of arcs that were either honored by the dev team or the MA players through various contests and sources. If you are looking for some great story focused arcs to play, any off this list would be a worth a play.

This is one of my favorite arcs. It is full of details, makes great use of clues, and has a mystery that makes it so much fun to play.

If you are looking for a well crafted arc that is lots of fun to play this is a great choice.
Thanks for the add of the arc Rose. It went into 4 star hell after being griefed to within an inch of it's life.

  23. From the known Issues List:

    "Mission Architect

    * Existing custom characters will display an error when you attempt to edit them in previously published missions.
o You will still be able to edit the characters but they display the initial error message due to changes in costume categories."

How do you fix this or determine what is wrong? I have broken arcs now due to I21 and when I I go to edit the characters there is no way to tell what is wrong and I can even save the character, but not republish the arc. Anyone know or am I wasting more of my time?

  24. As it stands now, any person with access to a couple of accounts can, at will, destroy an arcs rating pushing it down hundreds if not thousands of pages where it will rarely if ever get played. As long as this is acceptable to do, I see little point in investing the 60-80 hours of work I've put into my most successful arcs into new ones just to have this happen to them. People with DC's or HoF at least have a realistic way for their arcs to be found by players, so should one of my arcs achieve either of these or should the rating system be overhauled as it desperately needs, I would consider getting back into MA authoring. As it stands now MA just depresses me. I played this game for enjoyment and the thing I enjoyed most and actively championed was MA which for me personally has been ruined.
