Always good to see a new player face the dangers of the forums. Just so that you know, they are slightly less dangerous now that I've corralled most of the worst offenders over into my own sub-forum.
Anyways, welcome to the game!
P.S. I'm surprised that Stan Lee hasn't trademarked Excelsior. -
Since server population or "emptiness" DOES NOT MATTER as long as there are at least 7 other un-teamed people on your server that would like to team, I present to you...
Westley's Guide to Successful Teams
Follow this guide and you will never be teamless again, on any server... unless you're a Euro player, I can't speak for them.
Just, please, don't be this guy:
Please please PLEASE don't be that guy. -

Quote:Every single team needs buff/debuff, agro management, and damage. It doesn't matter where you get the three things as long as you have them.
No they don't. Try an all-Blaster team sometime, it's fun. All you really "need" in this game is damage. Anything else is nice, but optional. -
Quote:Game's overdue for an information cascade. Get enough people to believe de/buffs are more important than heals, and the wall comes crumbling down. Sometimes, the solution to humans blindly conforming to bad ideas, has to be humans blindly conforming to the simple opposite. The fall of the Berlin Wall, the formation and popping of the real estate bubble, American offshore oil exploration being banned, no allowed, no banned, it's the same underlying group psychology. Remember, groups think differently than individuals!
Fine in theory, but how do we get the snowball rolling? By being just as bad as the trinity types. When you advertise LFM, say something like "do not want healer, healers are crap, want buffer debuffer or blastfender." When you advertise LFT, say something like "skipped worthless heal powers, I have the buffs and debuffs and blasts that actually help." Even though it's not true. Even though you know it's wrong. Replacing entrenched disinformation with new disinformation is the name of the game. Sure, you'll scare off a good empath now and then, but shed no tears, empaths never have trouble finding teams.
I'm sure there'll be enough concept types who are hellbent on playing a healer to ensure a good mix of buffers, debuffers, offenders, and healers after the cascade.
Wow. I REALLY like this idea. -
Am I the ONLY one that gets pissed whenever he hears about someone calling themselves or another player DPS? That's not a name, hell, it's not even a TITLE, it's a function.
Calling someone that CAN deal damage per second is like calling a doctor +HEALTH. It's just plain ******* STUPID.
At least "healer" and "tank" are titles of a person or character that describe a NOUN. -
What I'm wondering is if Mr Dozen was a previous forumite that we might happened to have known, and if so, what was his previous forum identity?
Or is that privileged information... -

My name is Westley and I approve of the OP.
Also, the OP should read the Force Fielder's Bible, specifically my comments on Repulsion Field which is virtually identical to Repel. IMNSHO one of the single best "defensive auras" in the game. -
I wonder whatever happened to Turbo Ski?

Quote:This. The problem is that too many people think that this game is difficult enough to need the idiocy of everyone that commented in that chat log. Except for the claws scrapper. He appears to be the one with the brain.
OP, you should have kept your mouth shut and need to learn how not to die. The kin user also needs to learn how to play.
This game is not rocket surgery. -
Oh, you meant defense in the general sense. I thought you meant it in the specific sense of the attribute that exists in the game mechanics. Nevermind then, carry on.
That being said, FF has only two weaknesses, Sleep and a lack of Defense Debuffs. Considering how weak other sets are to a VARIETY of different damage/attack types, I'd say our two few weaknesses are just fine, especially considering that we have other tools at our disposal that can help reduce mobs from using defense debuffs and sleeps, like... say... knocking them on their *****.
I still would like a "Reduce Knockback Magnitude" enhancement that would give the player the option to choose to turn knockback into knockdown by slotting for it. If they can accomplish power color changes, they can surely accomplish this. I think it's well overdue for us to give us the choice about just how much "force" we want our powers to have. And it makes sense thematically as well... shouldn't force field masters have CONTROL over how much force they spew out? -

Quote:Yes, it was time to move on from that about 3 years ago.
Is it time to move on from Recluse and Statesman? -
There are only three powers that provide ally defenses. If you're really having problems with defense debuffs, try using any of the other 6 powers to keep your team alive.

It's not our fault he didn't read before posting.

Quote:I don't think minions should have KB effects. That **** just gets stupid when you get knocked back before you even have time to get up. I think the devs should have saved the KB for bosses, but given them higher mag so they could potentially knock back anyone who hadn't taken special precaution, such as Acrobatics or an IO or two. It would have made KB more special and less aggravating.
You should play through the Mission Arc "The Death of The Philotic Knight", you'd have a BLAST.
